Hawkeye cast a sympathetic glance at his friend as they watched Kim ride away with his mother. The boy was smiling and laughing, waving as though he didn't have a care in the world. Hawkeye loved that little boy. All of the 4077 loved him, except maybe for Frank. But no one loved Kim more than Trapper. The guy saved Kim from a landmine and then wanted to adopt him. Trapper would have been a wonderful father to Kim. He put his hand on Trapper's shoulder and spoke quietly. "I'm sorry."
Trapper gave a shuddering sigh. "Thanks, Hawkeye."
