"So… what are we supposed to be doing with this?"

Law rolled his eyes at the ginger, who was prodding at the controls as though he expected them to bite him, but the question wasn't a stupid one. The acquisition of the Marine submarine had gone smoothly enough, greatly aided by the helpful labels on the controls, but they had no manual - at least, not that they'd located yet - and none of them knew much about submarines.

Law knew the theory, of course. He'd learnt enough while in the Donquixote Family to know what a submarine was - roughly - but he'd only ever been on a sail boat. From what he'd seen of Swallow Island, Penguin and Shachi knew their way around small skiffs and fishing boats just fine, but those were largely simple vessels.

Any attempts to ask Bepo had been met with a cowering, apologetic ball of fluff, so it was safe to assume that the mink knew no more than they did.

"Not prodding controls without labels," Penguin retorted, snatching Shachi's hand before he could do any damage. The ginger whined at him.

"Once we're far enough away, we'll beach her and look over the controls properly," Law decided to interject. "If there's no manual, we'll have to use trial and error." Not ideal, but if it had to be done, it was going to be done without risk of sinking.

He'd already had quite enough of his new inability to function in water, and he'd only fallen in once so far. Penguin and Shachi had proven to be strong swimmers, and he had no doubt that Bepo was, too, but the less he needed fishing out of the water, the better.

Drowning was not high on his goals for the future.

"'Far enough'?" Penguin parroted back at him, sounding disgruntled at the inaccuracy. "None of us know what this boat can do! How are we going to know if there's a problem?"

Now he was asking stupid questions.

"Those gauges have limit markers on them," Law pointed out. How the older teens had missed them in their poking and prodding of the panels, he had no idea. "As long as none of the readings go into the red, it'll be fine."

…"Huh." Shachi shoved his face close to one, close enough that his hat was forced to tip back from his head. "Those are weird." He tapped at one. Next to him, Penguin started tapping at another.

Law sighed. Idiots.

More music-themed! This one actually grabbed a soundtrack from my other major fandom at the moment - 'The Parker School of Motoring' from Thunderbirds Are Go - so that was a fun experience!

Thanks for reading!
