A twilight to the past

Part 4

I know, it's not really a chapter like the others. it's shorter, and it states everything that happens without real dialogue or anything. I will probably rework on it later, but I didn't feel the inspiration to write it fully and I didn't think it was fair to make you wait any longer. I hope you'll still like it.

I'm working on a version of this story where Bella misses the portal. It will be called "A twilight to the past: Missed portal." It shouldn't be too long before I publish it, it's almost over.

The trip to England wasn't as long as Bella expected it to be. Without airplane or technology, she didn't know how long it would take but she had expected to be stuck on this ship for a year or close to it, but in just a few weeks they arrived and, thanks to magic, they were able to adapt quickly.

They found a large piece of land and made it their home, a home where there would be room for every member of their large family and for potential friends.

Once they had settled, Ansel and Charlie went through the transition and became hybrids, sired to their children and ready to start forever by their children's side.

And life went on happily and peacefully, for the most part.

Hope lead a happy life and even though she loved her parents, she didn't want to be a hybrid. She was a werewolf princess, and she wanted to live a normal werewolf life. She eventually married into a powerful Irish pack and left her family to join them. Bella and Klaus accepted it, they knew that they'd get the opportunity to adopt children later. As long as Hope was happy, it was the most important to them.

Henrik had hesitated a long time but, shortly after he celebrated his 18th birthday with his family, he fell gravely hill and no magic could cure him completely. He was dying and still had so much to live, so he decided to go through the transition and he became a vampire-witch, like his siblings. 18 would have been much too young to die and he knew that his family would make forever interesting and not boring.

The family didn't always stay together, but they always found their way back to each other. They had yearly reunions, like for birthdays or important anniversaries. They never missed it and they were always there for each other. They corresponded as often as they could and even when appart, the Mikealson family was united and strong. They quickly made a good reputation for themselves and they quickly rose in the supernatural social ladder.

Supernatural beings in trouble started coming to them for help. Sometimes, they came to Klaus and Bella when they had a supernatural dispute that needed to be sorted, asking the powerful hybrid couple to decide who was right, much like human royalty did.

There was no doubt that in a few more decades, Bella and Klaus would be true supernatural royalty, not just for werewolves, who already recognized them everywhere they went and accepted them as leaders, always, without challenging this truth, but for everyone else as well.

Along his travels, Finn eventually fell in love with a strong red haired woman named Sage and he decided, after she confessed to loving him too, to turn her so that they could be together forever. His family was happy for his happiness and they all found ways to get along with the new member of the family.

When it was time to move to London and look for Carlisle, Bella got nervous. Her past, their new future, was getting closer and she was afraid of messing it up. Still, they managed to find Carlisle, soon after he was changed and they helped him understand that he wasn't a monster, unless he started doing monstrous things. They told him that he could survive on animal blood and that he could still do good things in the world. He believed them and, for a while, he traveled with Elijah who became a true friend to him.

Elijah helped Carlisle find control, and them let him go to university in France, where he learned medicine. When he finally got his diploma, the entire Swan-Mikealson family, including Charlie and Ansel, came to celebrate with him. He had achieved something big for a vampire of his kind and they wanted him to know that they were all impressed.

Since they were in France, the Swan-Mikealson family, including Carlisle, decided that they couldn't put off visiting the Voltury and introducing themselves any longer. Bella remembered the stories that Edward had told her about them and she had a bad feeling about meeting them. They were all on their guards, which turned out to be a good thing because even though Aro and his 2 brothers acted very friendly, they still tried to kill them all during the night they stayed there, because they didn't like the idea of Bella and Klaus and of the prophecy that surrounded them.

Of course the Volturi and most of their guard died.

Bella and Klaus ended up winning. The surviving guard members, Felix, Demitri and Santiago, agreed to follow their rule and to spread the word. Of course they wouldn't stay in Volterra, it wasn't their style. They had a permanent home back in America and the time when they'd need to move back was coming closer. That's where they'd set their rules, in the future Mystic Falls.

.

And so they made their way to Mystic Fall's, at the same time as a large group of humans, and settled a large home there, on the location of Ansel's village. Carlisle had come with them and he, too, got a good piece of land for himself. He was going to open a doctor's office in town.

Since the humans would live with them, Bella and Klaus decided to tell them everything about the supernatural world and the humans decided to form a council to keep their town safe. They'd trust the Mikealson's and their friend,s but stay on their guards for more dangerous supernatural being.

Ayana's descendants were still there, along with a couple of werewolves. The werewolves joined the humans and took the name Lockwood, the witches took the name Bennett.

Shortly after there home was finished, a vampire named Pearl came in town with her daughter, asking for sanctuary. She didn't know where to go, had been changed by a man who wanted to hurt her, even now. She had turned her daughter who had been sick and dying and now they were on the run. Of course the Mickealson allowed her to stay, as long as no human was hurt. They even helped her get rid of the vampire who was hunting her and her daughter.

Henrik ended up falling in love with Anna, Pearl's daughter, and they took their time flirting and getting to know each other. they were both vampires, they had forever ahead of them.

Pearl had been interested in Carlisle for a while but quickly understood tat he wasn't interested in a romantic relationship. They stayed friends and she became an occasional lover to Elijah.

A few years after they all settled, Rebekah had fallen in love with Stefan Salvatore, a human, and she knew that he, too could fall for her, but she forced herself away. She could guess that he wasn't cut out to be a vampire. When Stefan's brother Damon left to join the war, it reminded Bella that she had someone else to see. It was time to meet Jasper and to keep a promise. She needed to save him from the southern vampire wars.

She left with Freya, Carlisle and Klaus, knowing that it would probably be easy. They arrived just after Maria had turned him and they destroyed the entire settlement, sending a message that this kind of behavior wouldn't be tolerated anymore. Jasper was abit confused, but Bella and Carlisle explained everything to him, Bella even explained the bit about her having been to the future, and he believed them. They helped him get control and, after that, he decided to go on his own for a while, though he promised to visit them in Mystic Falls soon enough. He considered them friends already.

While Freya, Bella and Klaus came back home immediately after, Carlisle decided to stay a while longer, to help jasper some more and to see if he could help out in the war.

It surprised everyone when Carlisle came back a few months later, bringing home with him an injured Damon who had been honorably discharged from the army. Of course Mister Salvatore hadn't been happy and had tried to shame his son in front of everyone, calling him a coward and a shame to be around. This had angered Klaus, who was reminded of things he had been told himself and he was about to intervene when the humans of the town rose to Damon's defence. They reminded Joseph Salvatore that his eldest son was a hero of the war, that he had been honorably discharged because he fought their enemies. Win or lose for the south, Damon was a hero to them and, after he had healed, they had named him Sheriff.

Stefan, who had grown up with an admiration for Carlisle, ended up becoming a doctor too and they both married and had children. They father remained an angry man, never quite satisfied with the children he had, but, somehow, he turned out to be different with his grandchildren.

The entire family stayed in Mystic Fall until 1915, when they started moving around. Freya, Finn and Henrik would stay behind, along with Elijah, but Bella, Klaus and Rebekah had things to do, lives to change. Rebekah had gone with her brother and his wife to see something else and, hopefully, find love along the way. Carlisle had gone with them, deciding to work at an hospital in Chicago for a while, especially after Bella told him of the influenza outbreak that was about to take place.

Bella and Klaus quickly found Edward Masen and his family and decided to keep an eye on them from a bit away. When the family got sick, they were able to heal them and they watched as, after healing, Edward gave up on his desire to join the war and instead became a doctor.

They left Carlisle for a while, he was at peace with his work in Chicago and they knew that he'd find love soon. Elijah had decided to help his friend and had gone to find Esme and, before the woman got married, he convinced her to give up on the man, to show her that he'd be abusive. He guided her to Chicago and discretely put her on Carlisle's path, knowing that everything else would happen naturally for the couple.

Bella and Klaus went home for a while after that before they traveled to Biloxi to save Alice. They found the little girl, barely 6 years old, malnourished and locked in a basement. They didn't try to look any further, they compelled the parents to believe that their daughter had died and they took her away. Rebekah had been with them once again and decided to adopt the little girl, feeling a bond to her and wanted to be a mother, even if she ended up doing it on her own.

After saving Alice, Bella and Klaus went to save Rosalie Hale's life in Rochester, along with Kol. They intervened before Royce King could hurt her, put her to safety and, knowing what they were about to prevent, they made sure to have witnesses. The King name was ruined and Rosalie was able to marry for love, a bit later. Kol had fallen for her, but he stayed away. She had been unhappy as a vampire in Bella's past, she'd be just as unhappy with him. She deserved the human life she wanted.

Alice decided to become a vampire on her 19th birthday. She didn't know if she'd keep her power as a vampire, but she wanted to be with her mother, Rebekah, forever and she wanted to find the love her aunt Bella had told her about.

When the time came to save Emmett, Bella and Klaus were busy in Mystic Falls with supernatural matters they needed to handle because of their position, so Alice suggested, with a knowing smile, that Rebekah went along with Carlisle and his new wife Esme to do it. They did save Emmett, turning him into a vampire and he ended up falling in love with Rebekah and she with him.

Alice didn't meet Jasper until the late 60's, but it was definitely love at first sight for them both.

Charlie and Ansel traveled a lot, sending to their children the werewolves that wanted to become hybrid. They never found love but they did find occasional love, like the 3 sisters in Denali that they enjoyed visiting once in a while.

Emmett and Rebekah were very happy together and at some point they even adopted a baby boy, a witch whose parents had died, and they named him Mickael.

"Everything alright kiddo," Charlie asked Bella one evening.

"It's time." She simply smiled.

"Time for what?" He asked her, confused and knowing that the family behind them was just as confused.

"Last night was the full moon were we left. It's time for me to go to Jacksonville." She replied.

"Well, I'll happily stay out of this one. I'm taking Ansel to Fork. Introducing him to Billy and Harry."

Bella knew that her father would be happier never seeing Rene ever again but she wanted to see her, to show her everything she had missed out on.

Klaus went with her of course and stood by her side, radiating Alpha male and power when she rang the doorbell. The door opened to Rene, who looked chocked and even a bit afraid at who had come to see her.

"Hello Mother, thought you'd never see me again, did you?" Bella smirked as Rene took a step back.

Here you, go, it's over. I'll probably rework on it later.

What happens after Rene steps back? Well, I left it there intentionally. I always new that it would end with Bella facing her mother and that i'd leave the reader to imagine which way it would go.

I'm working on a version of this story where Bella misses the portal. It will be called "A twilight to the past: Missed portal." It shouldn't be too long before I publish it, it's almost over.
