Since Sesshomaru had joined their group Inuyasha was quieter, stayed away for longer periods of time to investigate on his own, and seemed to have an even shorter fuse than normal.

Kagome felt awful that he was reverting back to his old way of being when she had first met him. It only had seemed to get worse after she and Sesshomaru had had their 'alone' time.

Deciding to confront him on it she needed to get him away from the others otherwise he would never open up to her.

"Hey Inuyasha. Would you mind coming to the stream with me? I need to do some washing." She requested. He had been sitting against a tree trunk with his eyes closed and Tessaiga in front of him.

"What's wrong? Sesshomaru dump you?" He asked snarkily.

"No. I just want some time with you. I miss you." She replied letting the remark roll down her back.

"Whatever." He grumbled out standing and placing his sword at his side. Following behind her she glanced back at him.

"You can walk with me you know." She coaxed. Not getting any type of response she felt her irritation begin to rise.

Coming to the stream she threw her bag down and crossed her arms. "What's going on with you?"

"All of a sudden you care now?" Inuyasha scoffed turning to face away from her.

"I always care. Inuyasha, you are my friend. I know that me being with Sesshomaru is a lot to take in for you and deal with having him so close but we have to work through this."

"There is no working through it Kagome. Sesshomaru and I, there's just a lot from the past that I…" Stopping himself he sunk to the ground irritated.

"Sesshomaru told me how he helped out you and your mom. He said you got upset when he left you to take care of yourself."

"Oh yeah? Did he tell you how I thought he was my father for years no matter how many times my mother told me he wasn't? Did he tell you about their relationship?"

"He said he respected your mother."

"Bastard, can't even be honest about it. I thought Sesshomaru was my father because he and my mother had an affair for as long as I can remember."

"Oh. I didn't know that." Kagome said softly.

"Yeah and then when she died was when he began to hate humans; always saying how weak they were and useless…just taking up space. That was when I knew he wasn't my father because I was half human and my father would have never said those things."

Inuyasha continued. "Then one day he told me I had to survive on my own and left. That was it. Now he has you and Rin, I'm upset about it because I don't want him to do the same thing to that kid that he did to me."

"I see." Kagome closed her eyes piecing together both sides of the picture. "Inuyasha, you two need to talk. You both have a lot of unresolved issues about the past and your relationship."

"I would give anything to fix the bond with my brother." Inuyasha said quietly. "He was everything to me for the first part of my life but I just…I don't know."

"Look, I can't force either one of you to talk but when you're ready I think he would be open to it. From the sounds of it Sesshomaru never wished any harm on you and only wanted the best in his way." Kagome sat next to him taking in his wounded appearance.

"Maybe." Inuyasha replied. "You don't think it's to late."

"No. You're both alive still, it's not to late." Kagome assured.

"You make it all sound so easy." He muttered out.

"Sometimes it is. At first it might be hard but once you get going every step is a little more stable." She said. "I'm sorry if my relationship with him is making you uncomfortable or upset because he was with your mom."

"Sometimes at night I would hear her crying when she thought I was asleep after we had a bad day, mostly the humans being nasty to me, and then Sesshomaru would come knocking as if he knew she needed him."

"He always knew what to say and do to make her happy again. We both loved her but she's gone and she has been for a long time now." Turning to Kagome he sighed. "I know he can make you happy until something happens and he can't bare it, I don't want have to see that."

"Whatever happens we will figure it out. Promise me that if something happens to me and Sesshomaru cops out that you will be there for Rin." Kagome took his hand in hers squeezing it.

"He can bring you back with Tensaiga." Inuyasha said.

"He already has." Kagome whispered out. "He can't bring back a person more than once he said."

"All of the blood…you died."

"Yeah." Nodding and tearing up Kagome took a deep shuddering breath.

"I will." Inuyasha agreed.

"Thank you." She sniffled out.

"You're welcome Kagome." Edging closer to her he pulled her to him in an embrace.

Settling herself against his shoulder she hoped that things would start to go in a different direction for them all.
