Spottedleaf woke up a few days later to see Thistlestar, Willowpelt and Goldenflower standing over her anxiously. The pale ginger queen had soaked moss which dripped water over her face and she realized that was what had woken her up.
"Don't tell me you tried to treat me…" she groaned, placing her paws over her eyes. The sunlight was bright, streaming through the den. Willowpelt shook her head.
"Cloud Spots did."
Spottedleaf craned her neck to see Cloud Spots sitting behind her. Her pelt was plastered with herbs and she could feel them cooling her wounds which meant they were healing properly.
"Oh. That makes sense."
Willowpelt huffed.
"She's not wrong, y'know," Cloud Spots meowed. "I once made Shattered Ice treat a cat without telling him how and I almost caught him feeding them deathberries to make them sleep."
Goldenflower choked on the moss while Spottedleaf chuckled before she stopped. Her body ached. Thistlestar rolled his eyes at the SkyClan tom.
"Okay, you're done. Now out!" He shoved the black-and-white tom out of the den and Willowpelt followed, anxiously.
Goldenflower looked down at her. "Will you be okay?" The tortoiseshell nodded and the queen left.
Spottedleaf soon fell back asleep, feeling better than she had in days.
Brindleface was curled around her pile of gray newborn kits. She had given birth a few moons ago. She had named them Ashkit, Fernkit, Tulipkit and Elderkit. She was a bit worried about Elderkit though.
The dark tom was sickly.
And with Thistlestar as leader…she knew he wouldn't tolerate such things.
Fire Heart smiled at Jackdaw's Cry fussing over Hawk Swoop. Many moons had passed and his two best friends had fallen in love and were now expecting kits. Fire Heart was going to be an uncle! Ravenpaw was getting more confident, taking slow steps out of camp, Gray Wing and Turtle Tail had become mates, and Jagged Peak would be an apprentice soon.
He went to the medicine den to check up on Jagged Peak. Cloud Spots and Dappled Pelt were squabbling over herbs in the corner and Fire Heart was surprised to see Skystar by his brother's nest. After Storm's death he had mostly hid in his den with his four kits. Even if Air Leap was about to become an apprentice too, and complained of his overbearing nature.
The pair of gray brothers looked up when he approached, smiling. Something good must have transpired.
"What's going on? Jagged Peak, are you okay?" Fire Heart asked, concerned. The gray tabby had been the one to show him the camp and introduce him to everyone. He had a bond with him too. Like he did with Hawk Swoop and Jackdaw's Cry.
"Better, actually," Jagged Peak exclaimed happily and stood, barely limping. Fire Heart grinned. He still had the scars on his legs from the gashes he had gained from falling but he was walking more strongly.
"He's going to be an apprentice soon with Air Leap," Skystar explained.
"Who's gonna mentor him?"
Skystar and Jagged Peak exchanged happy looks before looking back at him. Fire Heart wondered if there was something on his face.
"You will, of course," Skystar meowed. "You'll do a fine job."
Fire Heart's eyes widened. "M-me? Yes! Of course, I'll do my best!"
"Good. Gray Wing will mentor Air Leap. He's a great mentor too!"
That was true. Gray Wing had made Fire Heart the warrior he is today, after all.
Fire Heart looked down at Jagged Peak, who smiled up at him, eyes bright. He had faith in him. Fire Heart promised to make him the best warrior!
He smiled back.
End of The Sun Trail and Into the Wild. Hope you enjoyed.
