The ride home together with her new charge was a rather calm one. The same couldn't be said for the inside of Nemuri Kayama's head, who had learned quite a few important pieces of information regarding her new charge, Izuchi Midoriya. Amongst the first ones being that Izuchi was rather big for her age, which was nine but closer to ten as Izuchi's tenth birthday was only a few months away, with estimates indicating that she would become just as if not taller than Nemuri and just as well-endowed, but also with a significantly higher amount of muscle mass, when the reptilian girl reached the age of eighteen. The second piece of information was that Izuchi was underweight for what was expected of her age and mutated physiology, even when taking the fact that said mutated physiology made the reptilian girl's bones hollow, just as durable as normal human bones but nonetheless hollow. The third and arguably most worrying piece of information was that Izuchi hadn't been able properly to shedd her scales in some places, causing the loose scales to get stuck in between other scales and pressing into the skin underneath the scales, namely in places where she transitioned from smooth human skin to rough and hard scales, causing quite some pain.
The last one was something that Nemuri quickly took upon herself to fix and relieve her new charge of the aches the lounged in scales caused Izuchi, by sedating the girl with a rather heavy dose of Somnambulist's sleep-inducing aroma and carefully remove the scales sandwiched in between fresher ones using a pair of pliers and other similar tools made for better precision, which came in handy in places where multiple shedd scales of varying sizes were being pressed between intact scales, the smaller loose ones most likely from when Izuchi was younger. Once all the loose scales had been removed, which was a rather long process as Izuchi had not only tons of them pressed in between fresh scales in various places but also because Nemuri didn't want to hurt her charge, Nemuri noticed that the reptilian girl had been making noises indicating relief whenever the dark purple haired woman removed a significant amount of scales, the dark purple haired woman gave her charge a gentle shake, prompting the holder of the Rathian-Quirk to slowly wake up.
One of the first things Izuchi noticed upon waking up was that she wasn't feeling the constant ache of having years worth of improperly shedd scales that had been plaguing her for years anymore. The second thing she picked up was a scent that reminded her of her mother, even if it was a different one underneath the familiarity. The third thing was the fact that she was actually coherent enough to actually notice those things and think properly for the first time in years. With partially opened green slit-pupiled eyes, the reptilian girl took in her surroundings, noticing the dark purple haired woman that Izuchi vaguely recognized from the tv (maybe an interview ?) absentmindedly running her hand through Izuchi's mossy hair. With some clashing instincts poking her brain, the holder of the Rathian-Quirk spoke with a voice that hadn't been used properly in years.
"H-h-h-hi." The fact that Izuchi had a rather shy personality when the instincts of her inner Queen of the Land wasn't at the forefront made itself known as the dark purple haired woman gave her a gentle smile that caused a flash of memory of the face of another, more familiar, woman to spring forth in the reptilian girl's mind.
"Hello there. Nice to see your time in Endoru Forest didn't make you go completely feral." Replied the vaguely familiar woman in a tone, the implications of which simply went over Izuchi's head, indicated by an innocent tilt of the reptilian girl's head.
"Do I know you? I feel like I've seen your face before but can't put a finger on where."
"You might have seen me on tv a few years ago, before you were abandoned in Endoru Forest and declared missing."
"I've been missing?"
"Indeed. You've been a missing person case since XXXX. That was four years ago and I was a part of the small team that found you earlier tonight."
"…"
"…"
"…"
"…"
"… neat. So why am I still with you?"
"I was recommended by the on-site personnel and was made your legal guardian… for now at least. Just because I'm your temporary guardian doesn't mean I'm going to make any less effort than a permanent one. Plus Ultra."
"Plus Ultra." Mumbled Izuchi in a tone of obvious awe. "That's nice, I guess, but I still don't know who you are."
"Let's fix that then. Most know me as the R-rated hero: Midnight, but my actual name is Nemuri Kayama. Pleased to make your acquaintance… uh?"
"Izuchi. Izuchi Midoriya. Nice to meet you."
