Day 379
Everyone submitted their attention to the hallway beyond the doorway, awaiting an explanation to the commotion. An orange-clad girl with pointed ears sprints past, only to return a second later peeking into the room, her expression is blank and rather serious. Kat's eyes meet with hers, and their gazes lock.
"She's in headquarters!" The girl shouts, never breaking eye contact.
There's an excessive gasp, then a "WHAT!" from down the hallway.
Meanwhile, the girl steps out from behind the doorway, her arms crossed.
"We're in trouble." Shay mumbles to his buddy.
Eli frantically nods in agreement, cowering behind Shay.
Going over to them, Delphi waves off his statement. "Just shut up, you doofus! And, Eli," Delphi grabs Eli's arm pulling out from behind Shay. "Relax, you goober, he's trying to scare you."
Shay snickers in response, while Eli pouts, crossing his arms tightly. Within this still moment, Kat takes a minute to observe the girl as Delphi talks to the boys. The new girl had pale glowing skin against deep blue eyes. There was a fire burning within those twinkling eyes, she just seemed like the straight forward type. Her cheeks were light pink and her left eyebrow had a slit near the middle. Her pointed ears – without a doubt an Inkling – were blinged out in jewelry. A paper clip earring studded in shimmering stones to the right, and two single jeweled earrings in the right with a metallic clip-on over the top half of the ear. Her tentacle arm hair was long and simple, slightly shortened in the back, in a peachy orange hue. Her outfit was a Hightide Era Band's t-shirt, with a black leather jacket over it. Her light blue jeans were shredded, and her black combat boots engulfed the ends of the pants just below her calves.
The Inkling girl leans forward, while Kat's studying her, seemingly making judgments of her own on Kat. The girl eyes her top, a critical expression on her face. Kat looks at her own outfit, feeling uneasy. The top still wasn't properly pulled closed, the top half was tight, but the bottom was still loosely strung together. She can feel her ears burning from embarrassment as she adjusts it hastily. Jerking her head up with a huff, Kat glares at the Inkling with slight irritation. The girl only returns the stare, both their eyes narrow. If only looks could kill, they'd be having a serious throw down.
There's a smack against the wall, where an Inkling boy stands, hunched over — his right hand grasping the wall, while the other supports his weight on his knee. The girl leans in the opposite direction, her attention now on the boy, there was concern written all over her face. He was panting as he lifted his head, misty lavender eyes immediately meeting with Kat's brown ones.
His expression drops into astonishment as he slowly rises to a straight up posture. "Oh my cod. You're beautiful."
Kat's face grows warm all over again as her ears droop. "Uhm… thank you?"
"You wanna try that again?" The girl intervenes, glaring at the boy.
He flinches, realizing what he just said, putting his hands up in caution. "No– no, no, no! I'm sorry! I mean… look at her—" His face was flush now, and he motioned frantically with his words. "Wait, hold on. I meant… when he brought her here she was so," The boy pauses, cringing at the memory. "Battered. Yet, look! She's healed up well, right?" He cheerfully states elbowing the girl next to him. When he realizes she's unamused, he clears his throat, then approaches Kat. "My apologies, I haven't properly introduced myself. I'm Lucas, but Lucky's fine." He says, putting his hand out to her, gesturing a hand shake.
She goes to accept when she abruptly pulls back, pausing to take in his appearance. He was tall compared to her — even though, so far, everyone has been. His skin was pale, a snowy, off white tone. His tentacle hair was a lilac shade, done into a high ponytail, a shiny toothpick sticking out of the hairband, with one tentacle free to the left side in the front. He had thick, clear, square rimmed glasses on his face — the faded violet eyes behind them looked tired, but gentle. His smile was genuine and tender towards her. He was wearing a purple shirt with the Cuttlegear logo written on it in a golden texture and a white lab coat over it. He wore gray pants and clean white sneakers — with the shirt and lab coat.
"What's wrong?" He asks her, bringing her out from her observation.
"You're… not gonna do anything to it, are you?" She asks in return, eyes narrowed on his face.
Dropping his open hand, Lucky couldn't help but smile at her expression. It was hard to take her mean face seriously when she appeared flustered, dropped ears and all. Lucas chuckles, then looks behind him to Shay. "Let me guess," He began, his eyes still on Shay, who was smirking guiltily. "It was that little shrimp, wasn't it?" He asks her, his attention to Kat as he pointed his thumb back at Shay.
Kat simply nods in response, her hand back at her side.
He exhales with a "hm" as a smirk lingering on his lips. "Well, whatever first impression he gave off," He states, glancing back at Shay for a second before continuing with his eyes on Kat. "He's a nice guy, just plays too much. He, and everyone else here, only wants to help you. I can assure you of that." His smile when he spoke was genuine, it was difficult to not want to believe him.
She merely breaks eye contact, still unsure how to respond.
"Oh! And that's Amethyst, A.K.A Angie, by the way." Lucky suddenly exclaims, nodding to the orange Inkling in the doorway.
Kat looks over at her, and the girl throws up a two fingered salute with a rather blank expression.
"And, um… welcome to L.O.S.T!"
Kat prepares to speak up, but Lucky jumps the gun.
"I know you're probably confused, so allow me to explain."
