Chapter Ten:

Saying that Izuchi Midoriya was nervous about meeting not only Yumi Balalaika, the woman that Nemuri had spoken very fondly about (even if the reptilian girl had some suspicions that the dark purple haired woman was leaving something out of the context that she spoke of), but also someone completely unknown that Yumi had invited, only informing her friend about the invitation over the phone after she'd done so, was quite the understatement. The fact that Izuchi was also busy dealing with a toothache certainly didn't help, caused by her accidentally biting into a jawbreaker that had somehow become too hard for people with normal jaw-strength (Nemuri wasn't sure where the jawbreaker came from as neither she nor Yumi liked the candy and it been a long time since the last time she had guests in her apartment that wasn't Yumi), not that it was a real problem as one of benefits the mutations her Quirk caused was that she was constantly growing new teeth, or rather fangs to be more accurate, similar to a crocodile or alligator.

It was something that started when Izuchi was six years old, back when she was abandoned in the Endoru Forest and more or less in a feral state. While she herself didn't notice it, a few of her fangs were beginning to loosen from her jaws. After about six months had passed, every single one of her fangs had been replaced by a new one and that process never stopped, replacing about three teeth every month, completing the replacement of her whole mouth of teeth near the end of every sixth month, meaning that Izuchi had(and still would) fully replaced her teeth twice a year ever since she started getting her teeth replaced at the age of six. While Izuchi herself was rather amazed by that aspect of her mutated physiology, Nemuri wasn't particularly surprised by it as she knew that holders of Animal-subclassed Mutant-Quirks had been documented to very rarely not share the ability to regularly replace their teeth that the animal their Quirk gives them the traits of possessed. Nemuri would actually been surprised if her charge didn't have the ability to regularly replace her teeth/fangs.

Something Nemuri couldn't help but find endearing about her charge was the fact that Izuchi was always willing to help out whenever she could, helping out with the table in this case, which went rather well outside of the reptilian girl's tail accidentally knocking over a rather ugly vase that Nemuri received from her parents and had wanted to get rid of for years but, due to not wanting to upset her parents hadn't been able to bring herself to do so, resulting in the destruction of the vase as it hit the floor.

"Uh, oops?" Exclaimed Izuchi with a somewhat panicked expression on her face, gritting her teeth. "Sorry."

"It's fine. I've been wanting to get rid of that hideous thing for years but hadn't really had it in me to do it." Replied Nemuri with a shrug.

"Why?"

"It was a birthday gift from my parents."

"Oh…"

"Don't worry about it. Like I said, I've been wanting to get rid of it for years." The conversation regarding the accidental destruction of the ugly vase was interrupted by the sound of the doorbell ringing, which meant that the guests (both the expected one and unexpected one) had arrived. Prompting the hosts to go and eagerly welcome them, even if Izuchi was only a foot or two behind due to her being shy. By the time the reptilian girl finally made it to the hallway, she spotted something or rather someone that had her complete attention, and from the looks of things, it was mutual as both Izuchi and the girl who was returning her gaze were completely ignoring the fact that Nemuri and the woman who could only be Yumi Balalaika, based on Nemuri's detailed descriptions of the half-Russian woman the dark purple haired woman had given Izuchi, sharing a deep kiss before breaking off as the adults noticed the young holders of Animal-subclassed Mutant-Quirks staring at each other. The instinctual tension brought on the girls' Quirk was finally broken when the two took a deep breath through their noses, taking in each other's scent from a distance, which was what they respectively said that broke the tension.

"Sakura-scented shampoo/Guacamole." Exclaimed the two girls at the same time before seeming to blush in mutual surprise and embarrassment. With the instincts of her inner Queen of the Land no longer at the forefront of her mind, for now, Izuchi started taking in the appearance of the girl who smelled like sakura-scented shampoo. Much like Izuchi herself, the sakura-scented girl's overall physiology was definitely different from the average human due to the sakura-scented girl's Quirk. Focusing on the sakura-scented girl's face, one of the first things Izuchi noticed was the fact that the girl's skin was colored in two different shades of pink, not human-skin-pink but actual bright pink and a darker shade of pink where the smooth skin transitioned to salmon-pink and dark turquoise scales. Unlike Izuchi's scales though, which were rough and of varying size but still rather large in terms of general size, the scales of the sakura-scented girl seemed to be a lot more numerous, smaller in general size and probably a lot more smoother. The second thing about the sakura-scented girl that quickly caught Izuchi's attention was the other girl's eyes, while similar to her own eyes on account of having slits for pupils, they were still more unique compared Izuchi due to the irises being yellow and the sclera being pitch black instead the usual white. The third thing to catch Izuchi's attention was the fins that seemed fused with the literally pink-skinned girl's ears, giving them an appearance that could easily be described as a strange mix between the ears of stereotypical elf, the ears of a fox and the fins of certain species of fish. The sakura-scented girl's hands and feet weren't normal, much like Izuchi's but still more normal than the allegedly guacamole-scented girl's, being covered in dark turquoise scales. The literally pink-skinned girl's hands had all the fingers a more average person possessed, even though she had a small claw at the tip of each finger and salmon-pink webbing between her fingers while leaving outer joints and fingertips free. Despite being covered with salmon-pink and dark turquoise scales, the literally pink-skinned girl's feet were, relatively speaking, the most normal, the most abnormal thing about them being the presence of an additional sixth toe on the back of her feet and all twelve toes in total sporting impressive talons.

"Hey! My eyes are up here, Miss Guacamole! Stop staring at my feet!" Exclaimed the sakura-scented girl suddenly, pulling 'Miss Guacamole' out of her thoughts and her gaze up to the other girl's face.

"What?"

"You were muttering."

"Dang it. I thought I grew out of that."

"Meh. I don't really mind… too much and my name is Mina! Mina Ashido! Not 'sakura-scented girl' or anything that refers to my appearance!"

"Sorry and my name isn't 'Miss Guacamole'! It's Izuchi! Izuchi Midoriya!" After a brief stare down, the two girls suddenly burst out laughing. "Sorry for muttering, nice to meet you, Ashido-san."

"Right back at ya, and please. Call me Mina."

"All right then. Then you can call me Izuchi."
