Disclaimer: I do not own Digimon.

On another note, just let the battle commence. Omegamon Schwart Merciless Mode was such a cliff hanger... Oh, and if you want page breaks or scene changes you'll have to forget about it. It's all coming at ya rapid fire!

Chapter Eleven: The Love Letter Signed by Tears and Light

Homeostasis stared down the Digidestined, the pressure from her will aligning with the pressure from Merciless Mode causing them discomfort.

"My chest feels like it's going to explode," Miyako winced, her hands over her heart.

"This is just intense," Daisuke growled.

"I prefer when he was on our side," Ken agreed.

"But like this I don't think we could reach him," Iori confessed.

"Not just them Iori," Ken sighed. "We can't reach any of them."

"...Just what is going to happen to us?" Miyako asked, comprehending the ultimate digimon in front of her.

"The destruction of the enemies of the Digital World," Homeostasis proclaimed. "My ultimate servant Alphamon Schwart Merciless Mode shall carry this out."

"We're not the enemy!" Miyako retorted. "We're the ones that have helped you all this time!"

"Helped in the short run, hindered in the long run," she said more darkly. "Since you no longer have a purpose now is as any time as ever to get rid of you," she said.

"What about armor digivolving to save the Digital World! And Imperialdramon!"

"They are no longer necessary much as yourselves," she said. "I need nothing else to destroy threats to the Digital World."

"Even this body," she said staring at her hand. "Now that I have full control over this generation of Digidestined I can manufacture one based off of this body here," she said.

With that she closed her eyes, Hikari's body lighting up in a brilliant light and an after image of Hikari appeared coming into form. She wore a very light gray dress designed with waves shimmering as if splashing at the bottom of it. She wore a unique necklace around her neck; an odd reconstruction of what looked like all of the crests in one, and her hair lengthened out significantly, yet, for all of that she still had Hikari's resemblance. A unique diadem was on her head as well, something they had never seen before.

"With this," she said, manifesting a silver staff in her hand, the ending part shaped into what looked like a digivice, "I declare that the Digital World shall overtake the earth."

"Not if we have anything to say about it!" Daisuke scowled. "You can't just do whatever you want!"

"That is what I have always done," she said indifferently. "And today will be no different," she added brandishing her staff in hand.

"Now then, Merciless Mode-"

-She turned her head curiously, a clashing sound appearing behind her.

Jesmon's blade had reached out to slash at her, but Alphamon's ax countered it.

"Jesmon, what is the meaning of this betrayal?" she asked.

"It's not right Homeostasis," he said closing his eyes. "This is not balance. Corrupting Omegamon, using these Digidestined as sources of power with their crests, and converting them into energy devices to sustain Omegamon Schwart's Merciless form at the cost of their lives-This is wrong. This not balance. This is not light balancing out a negative force. This is twisting and corrupting for your own sinister purposes."

"Is that how you see it?" she said a little taken aback. "You've been my loyal servant for so long, but I was right to counter you with Alphamon. He understands which side he serves. He has been through both light and darkness."

Jesmon struggled pushing against Alphamon's Ax and the force of it pushed him back aways away.

"I will not let you hurt the Digidestined," he said, "Anymore than you already have. I am loyal to the Homeostasis who fought for balance and preservation, never deviating from the path," he said showing his blade in an attacking pose.

"Who says I haven't?" she countered whimsically.

Alphamon's golden ax started to light up brightly. Both Mega Digimon rushed at each other clashing parrying blow for blow.

"Show him his irrelevance Alphamon," she said not even turning towards him.

"Now then, as I was saying," she said taking her staff and walking forward with it pressing it firmly into the ground, "Omegamon Schwart Merciless Mode will be your undoing. Do my bidding Merciless Mode," she said, his eyes lighting up.

With that Omegamon Schwart Merciless Mode descended savagely attacking Imperialdramon fighter mode with his sword and using his Werewolf cannon like a shield.

"You think your so tough with your sword and cannons? Well I got a laser!" he shouted. "Pulsatron Laser!"

With that he unleashed a torrent of them towards Merciless Mode, but using his blade Merciless Mode carved up each and everyone on of them, then jabbing his cannon into Imperialdramon's chest. He unleashed a powerful Supreme Cannon attack, the otherworldly reddish glow forcing Imperialdramon fighter mode back, digging against the dirt.

"You think you've won just because you got in a good hit?" he winced doing his best to stay standing. "I still have my strongest attack!" he yelled manifesting his weapon in his arms.

"Things are pretty desperate if he's using THAT move," Ken warned.

"We got to do it Ken," Daisuke replied determined. "He's the only chance we have to save everyone."

Imperialdramon fighter mode steeled himself, holding both hands firmly on his weapon. "Take this!" he cried out.

"Giga Crusher!"

A shot of increased light emanated from the weapon in his arms, bursting forth against Omegamon Schwart Merciless Mode.

Merciless mode lifted up his sword in response, the blade glowing a crimson red color swirling with power. "Descending Sword!" he lashed out swinging the blade, the glowing crimson light cleaving the the light in half. The blade slashed into Imperialdramon's weapon, an explosion forcing him back with a loud cry against the ground.

"Imperialdramon!" everyone cried.

"Sorry Daisuke. Sorry Ken," he groaned barely able to lift his head before going back down. "He's just too strong."

They glanced to the side, Jesmon unleashing his powerful Un Du Twa attack, but Alphamon rushed at him swinging the golden ax at the same time. Their attacks collided marvelously in powerful green shots and the golden ax power, but with more effort Alphamon forced Jesmon to the ground embedding him there, Jesmon groaning out. He put his ax to his neck looking at Homeostasis for her next order.

Merciless Mode approached Imperialdramon fighter mode holding out his cannon point blank to his face.

"No!" Ken groaned.

Imperialdramon!" Daisuke bellowed.

"Why!" Miyako said breaking down into tears. "How can you be so cruel? Why are you doing this?!" she sobbed like a baby.

"Miyako," Iori said somberly. He for a moment appeared to start to cheer her up, but refrained himself.

He swallowed heavily, planting his feet firmly. "How can you spout such nonsense of balance when you only ever attempted to use us until we were all used up?! We're flesh and blood human beings! We have moral consciences! We're not programs! We can make those determinations for ourselves without you!" he said gritting his teeth.

"Feel free to," she replied walking forward with her staff, "But in your freedom you will realize your helplessness before Digital Beings. You all share your power with your digimon. You share your energy, they share their power. But realize this Digidestined: It was only in part until I could assert my power-my dominance-as you see for yourselves right now."

Everyone grimaced, hanging their heads in despair.

"And now, I shall sweep your existence away itself. Farewell," she said nodding her head, Merciless Mode preparing his Supreme Cannon attack.

The eerie glow from the wolf head's eyes glared marvelously as the attack brimmed in it's mouth, Merciless Mode about to unleash it.

Everyone closed their eyes in despair waiting for the end of it.

A slight cold, albeit surreal wind blew slightly, Daisuke and the others turning their attention to where it blew.

"This…" a familiar voice said.

"This...is what you have been striving for?" it asked, everyone staring wide eyed at Hikari Yagami, up and about, her face pale walking in front of Imperialdramon fighter mode. Her hand rested firmly, but gently upon the cannon, the light slowly going out as it stopped.

"it's ok," she said serenely with a half smile.

"Hikari...Yagami," Homeostasis said- herself amazed.

"See? There's no need to fight us," Hikari smiled, her eyes still hazy. "Omegamon, you've always protected us. You never wished us harm. And I still believe you don't. I know, inside of you, you're hurting because of me," she said. "But I'm not dead..." she said lightly. "...Because I believe the hope that was given to me will show you the way," she said taking her hand and stroking the cannon, Omegamon Merciless Mode suspending itself as if was paralyzed.

"How can this be?" Miyako said teary eyed. "I thought Takeru's sacrifice had failed! I thought you were never coming back to us!"

Hikari's eyes lit up mystically, light manifesting in her eyes. "Just as you've used my body for your purposes Homeostasis," she said, "I've become used to your power flowing through me, "she said, a radiant aura lighting up around her.

"It's to be expected," Homeostasis answered. "It appears Takeru's sacrifice was not in vain, but it was only...delayed."

With that, Hikari's eyes lost their luster as she stumbled a little bit, Imperialdramon wincing behind her not even bothering to try to get up off the ground.

"Ta...keru?" she said, her lips dry and cracked. She glanced his way, a horrifying expression crossing her face. Tears fell from her eyes as she ran over, falling, smudging her face with a little mud, and skinning her knee. She winced as she hobbled standing over to him as if unable to believe what she was seeing.

"Ta...keru," she said, a lump in her throat, her heart beating unsteadily.

"What happened to him?" she barely said audibly.

"Hikari," Miyako said reaching out a hand helpless to do anything.

"I said what happened to him?!" she snapped, her radiating power breaking the hold of the other Digidestined who fell forward from their unsuspended state to the ground.

Everyone stared at her, forgetting about their injuries as they took in the battlefield. Their was joy. Their were surprised looks on their faces, but their was also an uneasy sadness as they saw her put one hand over her eye, crying tears without abandon upon seeing Takeru Takaishi.

"Tell me...what happened to him," she sobbed trying to hold her tears back, but to no avail.

Homeostasis sighed tapping her staff on the ground. "For your display of this power I will tell you plainly," she replied. "As well as why I did all of this to begin with."

"About time!" Daisuke snapped.

"Sh!" Ken hushed him.

Homeostasis took a shallow breath.

"It happened a few years after you were born. You and I, Homeostasis and Hikari Yagami, we met in your father's computer room. You stared blissfully at the screen as I called out to you, sensing you carried the ability to harness my power. Do you remember?" she asked searching within her light-filled eyes.

"A little," Hikari replied. "Yes, I think I recall that. The moment we connected I could see the Digital World, and this strange power," she said looking at her hands. "I kept it to myself, but somehow I let it slip out to Taichi. Nor long after though we all saw the Parrotmon attack."

"And, at that time," Homeostasis said, "I looked among those onlooking children who had potential similar to yourself, but quite different. Among those chosen I selected Takeru Takaishi to be one of them. And I did that...because although he may not have the same power as you do, he has a corresponding ability."

"Corresponding ability/" She wondered.

"Haven't you ever noticed why the two of you were so in sync all the time?" she pressed. "It's because of his power calling out to yours. Think of it as magnets drawn to each other. But once that magnet is drawn to you, the force between your powers makes them even stronger. Haven't you ever felt that?"

Hikari stared down at Takeru, her scraped knee causing her other knee to buckle as she bent down on them. She took her hand and caressed his cheek, ever so cold.

"I have," she said. "But even so, I-"

"-What did you think that was love?" she questioned amused. "No, it's your crest power calling out to each other drawing out your power. Your child-like wonder combined landing the mark of the angels on your loved ones, the transcendence connecting him to you from the Dark Ocean, even the times you were down on yourself, Takeru's ability drew out the light within you to feel better. It was never the odd human emotion you call love," she emphasized. "That doesn't make sense with what has been given to you."

"I don't believe that," she said, tears falling from her face over him. "Everything he put himself through, he did it all for my sake," she said. "Takeru was my friend, he was my companion, he was my…"

"-Foolish," Homeostasis said walking forward and smacking her cheek harshly with her other hand. "He was a vessel to hold the power of hope until that power merged with the crest of light. Once the two merged together only then could I ensure you my vessel could not die anymore," she said placing one hand on her cheek after.

"But now that I have this physical form I can take back the power that I originally had given to both of you."

"What do you mean?" she asked. "I thought you just took it from me?"

"It's because," she said, "when I gave you your power, I separated my own power into three parts. Part for myself. Part for you, and the other part for him. Unfortunately, I could not take back those other pieces while they were separate. But now that they are combined, I can take it back. And that is just what I am going to do."

"But why?" she asked, getting choked up. "Why would you put us through all of this just for that?"

"Because each of you made this power even stronger," she said. "And because of that, it may just be strong enough."

"Strong enough?" Taichi said calling out.

"Strong enough for what?!" Daisuke shouted back.

She whipped her head around towards them. "You need not concern yourself any further. You are now obsolete," she said. "Though Hikari Yagami has freed you that was only a back up plan in case this primary plan failed," she said. "It only confirms for me the primary plan was the correct one."

Hikari swallowed heavily, Homeostasis staring directly into her soul as if looking at the power.

"Now, just look at me Hikari Yagami," she said staring deeply into her eyes. "You want to be reunited with Takeru Takaishi in death do you not? Just give yourself to me and you can join him in the afterlife."

"Hikari!" Miyako shouted. "Don't listen to her! Takeru would never have wanted that!"

"That's right!" Iori shouted pointing his kendo stick at Homeostasis. "You can't call this a righteous judgment or balance or anything! This is your own selfish whim Homeostasis! You don't trust anyone! Not us! Not Hikari or Takeru! Not even your servants that risked their lives for you! But we have each other!"

"You tell her Iori," Daisuke grinned. "And that's something you'll never have!"

"But not only that," Ken agreed, "If you seek to use other people for your own pleasure then you'll never have friends. You'll always have enemies. And you'll spend your entire existence having to deal with that problem. It will only get bigger. And this vicious cycle will never end!"

The other Digidestined stared over at them, all of them impressed.

"I think that pretty much shows us we've lost our edge,"Mimi said.

"Well, except for Yamato here," Sora laughed. "He's never lost his edginess."

"I agree," Koushiro acknowledged taking out his computer and typing into it feverishly. "Our Digimon might be out, but just maybe our crests can do something to stop this merger. If that happens we'll lose both Takeru and Hikari!"

"We've already lost my brother," Yamato sighed, a bit teary-eyed, "But we can't lose them both!"

"Right," Taichi winced. "That settles it," he said placing his foot forward. "Homeostasis! It's not going to go your way this time! This battle isn't over yet!"

She held her head back looking at them dangerously. "Your insignificant," she said raising her staff, binding each of them in place with their own crest power.

"What did you do?" Yamato scowled. "What did you do to us!"

"I merely just showed you your place," she said taking the staff and pounding it against the ground. "Kneel," she commanded, each of their crests lighting up, all of them slammed into the ground, even the other Digidestined.

"That was a dirty move!" Daisuke growled. "Hikari!"

"Hikari!" Taichi also cried out. "Don't let her win! It's up to you this time!"

"Foolish again," she said staring into Hikari's eyes.

Hikari felt herself tremble slightly, anger burning within her, but, she couldn't deny a torrent of emotions flooding through her trying her best to fight off the negative ones.

"This is going to tear you up unless you give yourself to me," she said. "You will always be in chaos. You'll never escape, and eventually without Takeru the Dark Ocean will call you back again and this time finish you off. Is that what you want?"

"No," she hesitated swallowing. "No, but, I-"

"Ssh," she replied placing her hand to her lip. "Just give yourself to me," she said. "Calm your soul, entrust everything to me. Only then can we save the Digital World once and for all this time."

Her eyes blurred out a bit. "What do you mean?" she asked half conscious.

"I have used many different means to protect the Digital World. Digimon, Mega Digimon, Fused Mega Digimon, the Royal Knights, the Digidestined, but always evil came back to the Digital World. Instead of relying on the powers of others, letting them grow like plants and using their ripened power to defeat the enemies of the Digital World I wish to wield it all myself bearing the full burden. No longer would I trouble the earth for assistance. I would handle it all on my own."

"You would?" she said, her legs wobbling.

"Yes," Homeostasis nodded. "The Digidestined would be no longer needed. They could use whatever life they had left on their own terms. Digimon would vanish from this world, and your digivices would be rendered useless. You would all go back to being normal human beings leading normal human lives. Isn't that the best possible outcome?" she asked, Hikari feeling a strange warmth wash over her.

"It would be the ideal world," she said, her words seeping deeper into Hikari's conscience.

"The...ideal world?"

"Just give yourself to me," she said, the words echoing ensnaring her.

"Give into me. Give me your power."

"My...power," she said her eyes starting to droop.

"Yes. Just close your eyes now. And rest. And entrust the future to me."

Hikari blinked for a moment, her eyes heavy, but as soon as she closed them the light of memories kicked into overdrive.

"Hikari!" Takeru's voice cried out.

"Hikari!" Tailmon's voice also echoed out.

"Hikari!" her brother's voice echoed through her mind.

One by one each of the other Digidestined's voices resonated into one voice, Hikari feeling their voices course through her.

A light blinded her from within, a single voice repeating something she had heard a long time ago:

"You've slept long enough."

With that she snapped her eyes open, glared at Homeostasis and lifted up her hand smacking her across the cheek, a stern expression of anger across her face.,

She stared back baffled Hikari would even do such a thing.

"What is the meaning of this?" she wondered, placing her hand on her face where she had been struck.

"I've had it," she groaned grasping her fist. "I'm tired of it. I'm sick of your plans!" she shouted, every single voice dropping silent in amazement.

"Everything you say! Using us like tools! Telling me that my feelings and Takeru's feelings were a lie! Convincing Takeru to go through on a ridiculous plan just to save my life! Even telling me that everything will be peaceful after this!" she said shouting rapid fire. "You used me! You lied to me! You really think that even after you succeed and take my life and this power you won't have any more problems?! That's not possible! There will always be a problem! There will always be a burden! But you don't know that because all this time you don't appreciate the beings around you that care for you! Or the people you use to help you!"

She stared at her, her eyes strangely unhollow for once.

"If I don't do this Hikari Yagami, if I don't protect the Digital World myself then who will?!" she shouted back surprisingly in anger.

"Who will protect the Digital World if I don't? Who will safeguard primary village? Who will ensure the process of birth, death, regeneration, and rebirth are intact? Can you burden yourselves having to constantly protect something?" she shouted jaggedly, her voice tight.

"That's why I've decided with enemies constantly coming, before all of you are no longer able to be Digidestined I will use you for my own purposes. I have Omegamon Schwart Merciless Mode, and our crests combined with my own power will ward away the darkness. It will be the final key I need for perpetual balance in the Digital World. I will separate that world permanently from the Dark Ocean and all of it's influences. The worlds will no longer bleed over into each other. The attacks on this world will cease. And you, Digidestined, will no longer be needed."

"Then why don't you trust us and let us help you!" Hikari pleaded. "We can still make a difference! Just believe in us! Believe in our bonds with our Digimon! Believe our bonds with each other!"

"There would be no point," she sighed shaking her head. "All of you are nearly adults and you don't have much longer to be able to wield the crest power! In other words, this experiment failed! The darkness will come back! And if I don't do this, if you don't give yourself to me and finish this eventually the darkness from the Dark Ocean will return and one day, I will not be able to fight it back!" she emphasized back. "Your world and the Digital World would be consumed in it's waves! And all of this would be on your shoulders! Is this what you want?" she said starting to shake.

"No," Hikari said taking a step back and staring down. "I don't want that either, but I don't think the way that you're doing this is the right way. There has to be another path."

"There isn't," she said hanging her head. "This is the only logical choice. Anything else would be insufficient."

"But there's still me," Hikari replied. "I know why you are doing this, but you don't understand even now. All hope is not lost."

"The Crest of Hope influenced you it seems," she noticed shifting her eyes around her. "But that's all he has done. His power now resides within you. You bear both the hope and the light. That energy that courses through you is the only thing keeping you alive."

"It can't be over," she said. "Takeru's been with me all this time. Ever since we were small children. He's watched out for me, taken care of me, made sure I was ok- even at his own expense. I had become so used to it, I started to feel guilty that I spent most of my time with him- as if I had been holding him back. But he still chose to stay around me. To be my friend, to be...irreplaceable to me."

"And none of that matters anymore," Homeostasis said. "His wish was denied. I won the wager. He never confessed. He never brought his goal to pass. And now that he has failed everything has fallen into place."

"-Hold on just one minute," Miyako growled stomping one foot towards her.

"What purpose do you have in interfering?"

"I'm not interfering. I'm just going to call you out and correct a big mistake you made."

"I don't make mistakes," Homeostasis said, her face glowing dangerously. "But I will allow you to continue."

"You did make a mistake," she said. "And I can prove it!"

"Amusing. I suppose I will allow you to pronounce it before I decide to find a use for you," she said. "So, proclaim it. And then live on normally."

"With pleasure!" she grinned. "You told us that Takeru had not confessed."

"Because he didn't."

"But that's not true," she said taking out her phone. "Watch!"

Homeostasis and the others watched as they saw and heard Takeru start to pronounce who his crush was and then broke away shouting Hikari's name over and over again.

"This proves nothing," Homeostasis said bitterly.

"Like Hell it doesn't!"

"It proves that Takeru...He was...in love with me?" Hikari said wide-eyed. "He…he truly loved me?

"You'll never know," Homeostasis countered defensively. "It's impossible to know his feelings. They were interrupted. He never told you."

"-But he did tell us," Daisuke confirmed.

"He told you?"

"All of us," Iori said. "Even how he would use the love letter challenge to confess to you if you never confessed first."

"What does that matter?" Homeostasis questioned. "It's not as if Hikari had her response already. She had always been unstable," she said as if trying to convince herself. "Something like this-"

"-Actually," Hikari said, her hand shaking taking out a folded letter from her pocket, "I can't tell you how many times I had tried to write this."

"It can't be," Homeostasis said curiously. "Even if you reciprocate his feelings, it's not real remember? It was the crest power calling out to each other. It was-"

"-Read it Hikari," Miyako encouraged her firmly.

With that Hikari held the letter close to her chest, and then hesitated as she read it aloud.

"I can't tell you how many times I had to write this without doubting myself. I have tried so hard to just let things go and be happy for you. But the more I tried, the more it hurt. The more it hurt, the more I doubted there even existed a chance that you had feelings for me.

I had convinced myself you didn't. And if you didn't for me what would it matter if I never told you if I did or not? That's how it felt anyway. But the closer you were to me, the more it hurt just being around you. In quiet ways. In every day casual ways. My heart would not let me rest and accept things as they were. I guess that must be Taichi's influence huh?

Anyways I won't bother you about it anymore. You've played games with my heart for so long I couldn't tell anymore if you were joking or not about me. So, even if you do reject me after telling you this, just know these are my honest feelings.

So, I'm just going to come out and say it. I wanted things to stay the same forever, but we both know things will always change. You'll grow up, and I'll probably grow down. Life will take us into different directions. Yet that innocent, but mischievous gleam in your eyes, and that messed up smile of yours will always be the same. Even if you become a famous novelist or renown blogger. And you'll probably be still wearing that hat of yours long after we get out of high school and eventually into college and beyond.

...I just want you to know, I've always treasured our memories together. From when you took care of me when I had a fever, to the terrors of the dark ocean, and just being a beacon of hope, friendship, and comfort to me no matter how depressed or down on myself I got.

So, Takeru, I...I just love you. When you're fooling everyone-even yourself, when your laughing bringing cheer, when you're comforting me just being there, even when I don't want to be anywhere. Even this ridiculous challenge. I... I love everything about you. And if you feel the same way about me…

...that would make me happier than anything."

With that Hikari couldn't hold her tears back staining the crumbled page and broke down practically falling on his chest sobbing her eyes out.

"You can weep and mourn all you want, but the transaction has been done. He is no more of this world. The right thing to do would be to use that power to stop the evil from ever coming back. Let's destroy ti once and for all Hikari Yagami," she said bending down to her offering her hand.

Hikari ignored her staring at Takeru's gentle face. She only had ever seen him that peaceful when they were together. Even when he smiled she could always feel the tension behind it, as if isolating himself from other people even though people seemed to flock around him appearing as if they were getting along wonderfully together.

Her lips trembled as she bent her face over his curling her hair behind her ear. She bent her face down affectionately towards him, Takeru the only thing she could see.

"What are you doing?" She wondered. "If you'll weep and grieve like this your powers will only weaken. Your connection with him is severed. But if you try to reconnect it Hikari Yagami it will all be over. It will all be-"

Hikari ignored her voice gentling passing her lips down to his cold, hard and cracked.

Homeostasis stared at her stunned and is did all of the others.

"I have made my choice," she said, her voice rasping. "And no matter what you say I don't believe Takeru is gone yet. If he gave me his hope to save my life then I can give it back," she said, "Even if it costs me everything."

"But why would you do that?" she asked dumbfounded, the power sealing the Digidestined breaking. "He risked it all for you. How could you just ignore all of that and just want to give it back? Wouldn't you want to honor his memory? This is implausible," she said falling to her knees. "This wasn't the response I anticipated in my calculations. I don't understand," she rambled, the staff falling from her hands.

"I know you wouldn't," Hikari said smiling tearfully. "But that's ok. We're not programs Homeostasis. We're flesh and blood human beings. We're filled with joy at times, other times sadness, and have moments of anger and regret. But that's what it means to be human. These emotions don't weaken us. They strengthen us in our convictions."

Homeostasis stared at her, shook her head and closed her eyes.

"I... have failed."

With those words immediately the ground started shaking violently, the skies flashing purplish thunder, darkening with swirling gray clouds.

"What's happening?!" Mimi exclaimed.

"We're doomed! We're all going to die!" Jou shouted. "I'll never get my masters!"

"Control yourself!" Koushiro retorted. "This isn't normal weather! It's as if it's responding to something!"

"But what could it be?" Sora shouted.

"It doesn't matter because we're about to find out!" Yamato answered, as a strange portal swirling with purple and black currents swirled before them.

"What is that?" Taichi asked. "That's not like anything I've ever seen!"

"It looks like the Dark Ocean!" Ken shouted; his eyes focused on it as if reliving flashbacks.

"Who cares what it is I won't forgive it for giving you flashbacks!" Miyako scowled.

"Let's just think calmly about this," Iori said. "I'm sure there is reasonable-"

"-It doesn't matter Iori," Daisuke barked. "Whatever that is, it's got another thing coming if it's a bad digimon trying to take over the world."

A deafening thudding sound made the earthquake even stronger, some buildings collapsed in the distance. Every single Digidestined fell to their knees as a shadowy figured emerged, resembling a Digimon that they had all seen before.

Menacing familiar laughter echoed out from the portal, each of the Digidestined staring wide-eyed at what appeared as a familiar foe.

"I have waited for this moment..." the familiar voice said, the voice manifesting in the form of hundreds of bats slowly revealing a cloak and face of one of their most powerful enemies, "…To see the terror upon all of your faces, the color drained from them, and fear rattling you to your very bones."

"I recognize that voice!" Tailmon shouted as the voice cackled out in cruel laughter. "It can't be! Not you! We defeated you three times! It's impossible!"

"It can't be!" Hikari said shaking at the malicious being in front of her. "It's you...Why? How?"

"Who is it Hikari?" Miyako asked.

"It's him," she said staring fearfully. "At least something that resembles him," she said, barely able to get his name from her trembling lips. "...Myotismon…
