The next day
Chamberlain's diggers were carefully getting out an ancient chest from the secret compartment they'd opened, with Chamberlain telling them to be careful with it before they sat it down. And when he, Burns, Henderson and Daniels knelt down to inspect it, he kept them from touching it. "There is a curse upon this chest."
"Curse, my ass." Daniels said with disbelief.
"Yeah, who cares?" Henderson added after his friend.
But Chamberlain told them. "Have a care, Mr. Henderson. In these hallowed grounds, that which was set forth in ancient times is as strong today as it was then."
Henderson shrugged it off and asked. "Yeah, yeah, we understand. What's it say?"
Chamberlain began to read the words on the chest before translating them. "Death will come on swift wings to whomsoever opens this chest."
But then, a sudden wind below around them before intensifying, making the diggers run away in fear as Beni said. "We should not be here. This is not good."
Chamberlain and the others ignored him and kept reading. "It says, "There are 2…the undead…who, if brought back to life, are bound by sacred law to consummate this curse."
"Well, let's make sure we don't bring anyone back from the dead, huh?" Daniels said.
"He or she will kill all who open this chest and assimilate their origins and fluids. And in so doing, he or she will regenerate and no longer be the undead…but a plague upon this Earth." Chamberlain finished, now looking very reluctant to open the chest.
"Well, we didn't come all this way for nothing." Henderson said, disregarding the chest's warning.
"That's right." Burns added in agreement.
But Beni, out of fear for his own skin and believing it, began backing away. "It's the curse." He said, making the others look at him. "It's the curse. It's the curse!" Before running out of the area. "Beware of the curse! Beware!"
As Burns and Henderson were about to open the chest, Daniels said in annoyance. "Stupid superstitious bastard." Before they opened the chest, which spayed something on them as it was opened.
And when they wiped it away, Chamberlain knelt down and unwrapped the cloth, revealing the Book of the Dead, which he was astonished to see. "Oh, my God. It does exist." He said as he picked it up. "The Book of the Dead."
But the Americans only cared about treasure and not a worthless book. "A book? Who cares about a book? Where the hell's the treasure?"
"This, gentleman…this is treasure." Chamberlain said, having completely disregarded the warning because of the book.
But Burns was a bit annoyed. "Hell, I wouldn't trade you for a brass-" He said before kicking the chest and making a corner of it drop, revealing the very five canopic jars that had Anuk-Su-Namun's long rotted away organs: four whole and one fifth shattered jar.
They knelt down again and chuckled at seeing the golden jars. "There's your treasure, gentleman." Chamberlain said.
"Well, now we're onto something." Burns said with a grin.
Meanwhile, underneath the Anubis statue
As Rick and Jonathan lifted up the sarcophagus, making it stand straight, Evy was so excited to open the coffin. "Oh, I've dreamt about this since I was a little girl."
"You dream about dead guys?" Rick asked her with a raised eyebrow.
Ignoring Rick's sarcasm, she pointed to what the inscription said on the sarcophagus. "Look, the sacred spells have been chiseled off. This man must have been condemned not only in this life, but in the next."
"Tough break." Rick said.
"Yeah, I'm all tears." Jonathan added while using the key to open the coffin "Now, let's see who's inside, shall we?"
As Rick and Jonathan opened it, a very deformed mummy came out of it, making all scream before Evy groaned out of annoyance. "Oh, my God, I hate it when these things do that."
"Is he supposed to look like that?" Rick asked, being surprised at the state of this mummy.
Evy shook her head "No, I've never seen a mummy look like this before. He's still... still..."
"Juicy." Rick and Jonathan said simultaneously.
"Yes." Evelyn nodded. "He must be more than 3,000 years old and, well, it looks as if he's still... decomposing."
But in the spiritual plain, Zahra's spirit was watching the entire thing, with her being saddened to see Imhotep's deformed corpse. 'Oh, my dear Imhotep. I can't imagine the suffering you felt trapped in there, as well as the suffering you continue to feel in the Underworld.' Before she turned her thoughts back to her sworn duty. "They must stop this now! They have no idea what they have just unleashed. And those others have found the book. They have to stop, now. I have to make them stop this, at any cost!"
Rick then noticed something on the inside of the sarcophagus' cover. "Hey, look at that." Before he pointed at it and took a look at it. "What do you make of this?"
Evy and Jonathan looked at it. Evy was shocked to see all these scratches and markings. "My God, these marks were made with... fingernails." Evelyn glanced back at the mummy. "This man was buried alive."
That made Rick feel a bit uncomfortable, not imagining a more terrible fate than being buried alive.
Evy then glanced back at the cover, noticing something more. "And he left a message." Before reading the hieroglyphs, saying what it meant. "Death is only the beginning." Before all 3 looked back at the mummy, wondering why he would write this message before he died.
Evy then felt some wind blowing into the tomb, hearing it say. 'Leave... now...'
Remembering her dream, she wondered something and stood up. "I think... I think we need to take a look at the feet of the statue of Isis."
Rick and Jonathan both raised an eyebrow at her. "Really? Why?"
Evy shook her head. "I don't know, I... I just feel we got to check it out." And walked through a corridor, which headed to the feet under the statue of Isis.
Jonathan and Rick exchanged a confused look before both deciding to go after Evy, leaving this decomposing mummy behind.
After arriving at the feet under the statue of Isis, Evy began to look under it for some clues before Rick asked her. "Wait, Evelyn, what are you doing?"
"I'm thinking there might be something under here as well." Evy answered as she used a scoop to dig in it.
"What, you think there might be another juicy mummy under here?" Jonathan asked.
Evy shook her head while still trying to scoop. "I don't know... but I think it might."
Rick and Jonathan both shrugged and helped Evy to dig under the statue, using shovels and a sledgehammer, like they tried with the other mummy. After an hour of trying, Rick hit under the ceiling one more time with the sledgehammer, making the ceiling crack before a coffin fell down!
Rick and Jonathan were surprised. "You were right, old mum. There was something at the base of that statue too. But how did you know that?"
Evy sighed before she answered. "I... I had a dream last night and..." Before she then shook her head. "Never mind. Let's see who's buried here." And when she removed the sand away, Evy checked the inscription on the sarcophagus, but upon reading them she turned pale. "Zahra. Protector of Pharaoh Nefertiri."
"Never heard of her." Rick expressed.
Jonathan however wandered. "And who was this Pharaoh Nefertiri? Was he rich?"
Evy glanced at her brother, stating. "Nefertiri wasn't a he, Jonathan. Nefertiri was one of the very few female pharaohs of Egypt and is also the mother of the greatest pharaoh that ever lived, Ramesses the 2nd."
"Really?" Rick asked curiously. "I never thought there were more female pharaohs."
"That is because she was barely mentioned in Egypt's history." Evy explained. "But, Ramesses the 2nd did mention her in his records which states that his mother ruled over Egypt very strictly, but fair. There were, and still are, rumors that Nefertiri became a harsh ruler when she witnessed her father being betrayed and murdered, but over time, her character changed into a more strict but fair ruler when her best friend took her own life." That was when Evy figured who Nefertiri's best friend was and could be Zahra.
As Rick and Jonathan raised the sarcophagus, making it stand straight, Rick sighed before telling. "Well, at least we won't have to use a key to unlock it." Before he picked a crowbar.
"Be-be careful now, Rick. You might damage the mummy." Evy warned him.
Rick chuckled before pinning the crowbar to the sarcophagus. "Relax, would you? I know what I'm doing." And after pulling down hard, the coffin slowly opened.
Jonathan prepared himself to be scared again like with the last mummy. But when Rick cracked it open... revealing a normal mummy. Jonathan gave a big sigh in relief. "Pfew! Thank God it's not like the last one."
Rick then wondered as Evy took a look at the mummy of Zahra. "Hang on. The curse of this place mentioned 2 mummies. We found the ugly one, and now this dead lady here."
Evy rolled her eyes. "Oh, please, it's just a fairytale." But as Evy began to think about it, and with the dream she had of the spirit of Zahra warning her to leave Humanaptra, she began to think that maybe there was some sort of curse on this place. But she quickly put it out of her mind.
Jonathan then saw something inside the cover of the sarcophagus. "Hey, Evy, look. Another message, but not scratched with fingernails."
Rick and Evy looked at it, seeing hieroglyphs written on it. She began to read it. "It says: Love is stronger than pride, stronger than hate, stronger than the power of gods, even stronger than death itself and will never die."
"What does that mean?" Rick wondered. "Is it some kind of a... poem?"
Evy shook her head. "I'm not sure."
Later at night
Evy was walking to the others with something in her hand when she saw Chamberlain struggling to open the black book, before remembering something. "I believe you need a key to open that book." She said before continuing on, making Chamberlain inspect the book.
As Rick was helping with the fire, the other Americans came up to him and sat down while holding their prized jars. "Say, O'Connell, what do you think these babies'll fetch back home?" Henderson asked.
"We heard you boys found yourselves 2 mummies, and 1 of them is really nice and gooey while the other one's a lady." Burns added with a smug smile. "Congratulations."
"If you dry that fella out, you might be able to sell him for firewood while going out with the lady Mummy." Daniels said sarcastically, making Rick give out a fake chuckle.
But that was when Evy called out as she walked up to them. "Look what I found."
"You're in her seat." Rick told Beni, who chuckled weakly. "Now."
"Yup." Beni said before moving to the other side of his 'friend'.
Evy sat down and showed them what she found. "Scarab skeletons, flesh eaters. I found them inside our male friend's coffin. They can stay alive for years feasting on the flesh of a corpse. But unfortunately for our male friend, because still alive when they started eating him."
Rick and Jonathan took 1 of the Scarab skeletons as Rick asked. "So somebody threw these in with the guy Mummy and then they slowly ate him alive?"
"Very slowly." Evy answered.
"Well, he certainly wasn't a popular fellow when they planted him, was he?" Jonathan asked.
"Yeah, he probably got a little too frisky with Pharaoh Nefertiri." Rick said with a chuckle.
But in the spiritual plain, Zahra was disgusted at the thought of the man she loved getting intimate with her best friend. "Ugh! Disgusting fool!" She said with a growl.
Evy chuckled as well before she spoke again. "Well, according to my readings, our male friend suffered the Hom-Dai, the worst of all ancient Egyptian curses. 1 reserved only for the most evil of blasphemers." She explained. "In all my research, I've never heard of this curse having actually been performed."
"That bad, huh?" Rick asked.
"Yes, well, they never used it because they feared it so. And only the Pharaoh and those close to him in Egypt's elite knew what it did, which is why they feared it." Evy explained. "It's written that if a victim of the Hom-Dai should ever arise, he or she would bring with them the 10 plagues of Egypt."
"Say, what about that Zahra Mummy? She wasn't cursed, was she?" Jonathan asked curiously.
"Well, according to my readings, no, she wasn't. And from what I read about her, she was the type of person who would never be under any of Egypt's curses, especially the Hom-Dai." Evy answered.
"What type of person was she?" Rick asked.
"Well, she was a very good woman, who wanted peace and harmony for not just Egypt, but the entire world. She was very fond of all living animals, from the biggest cattle, to even the smallest insect. And she very much loved the people she cared about." Evy explained.
"Sounds like she was just like Mum, you know?" Jonathan said seriously.
"Of course. But whenever she saw evil in someone or if something was wrong, she never hesitated to say it, but because Pharaoh had all the power at the time, she couldn't really do anything about it…until the day she decided to sacrifice her own life."
"But why would someone like her commit suicide if she was a friend of the royal family back then?" Rick asked, not seeing why a very good woman like Zahra would kill herself if she was friends with Egyptian royalty.
"That part I don't know. The details of why have been lost for 3,000 years." Evy answered.
"Well, wherever she is now, a peaceful place far better than this world is what she deserves, you know?" Jonathan said seriously.
A bit later
When everyone else was asleep, Evy quietly took the Book of the Dead from Chamberlain and brought it to her sitting spot. But Rick, who heard it. "That's called stealing, you know."
But Evy said while quietly getting the key from her sleeping brother. "According to you and my brother, it's called borrowing." Before getting to the book.
"I thought the Book of Amun-Ra was made out of pure gold?" Rick while kneeling next to her and holding his shotgun.
"It is made out of gold. But this isn't the Book of Amun-Ra, this is something else. I think this may be the Book of the Dead." Evy answered before opening the key.
But Rick didn't like the sound of that. "The Book of the Dead? Are you sure you wanna be playing around with this thing?"
Evy then unlocked the book as she told him. "It's just a book. No harm ever came from reading a book." Before she opened it.
But in the spiritual plain, Zahra's spirit was absolutely horrified, as the man she loved and the evil curse he now carried, and the day she and the Medjai had feared for more than 3,000 years was about to finally arrive in a matter of seconds. She needed to stop this now! "No! No! No, no, no! Do not do it! Do not read from that book!"
The wind suddenly howled, as if to voice Zahra's great fear. But Rick said calmly. "That happens a lot around here." Before asking Evy. "So, what's it say?"
"Amun-Ra. Amun Dei." Evy read, understanding the words perfectly. "It speaks of the night and of the day." She told Rick before reading the ancient words.
But in the spiritual plain, Zahra tried 1 more time, begging, even though it was completely in vain. "Please, stop this! Stop it! STOP READING! DON'T READ IT! STOP IT… NOOOOW!"
"Suweyah harumuktu sinmasibet baya imatipinsupikeh setsuay yatueh yatueh yatueh." Evy read as her voice echoed out through the City of the Dead, inside and out.
In the spiritual plain, Zahra's spirit could feel itself being forcefully pulled back to where her disturbed mummified body was still laying as she yelled out, trying with all her power to fight it but the book's magic was far too powerful for her spiritual powers, as its magic far exceeded them. "NO! NO! NOOOOOO!" Before her spirit reentered her body before it came to life and sent a roar that echoed through all of Hamunaptra. "RAAAAAHHH! RRRRRRAAAA!"
But Zahra wasn't the only one who had come back to life at that moment, for the decayed corpse of Imhotep had been brought back to life as well with a roar of its own. "RRRRAAAAAAAA! RRRRAAAAAAAAAAA!"
The roars startled Chamberlain, who woke up and saw what Evy was doing, making him yell out. "NOOOOOO!" Getting hers and Rick's attention before he got up and took a few steps towards them. "You must not read from the book!"
But before anything could be said or done, Rick and Evy looked to the right as Jonathan, Beni, and the 3 American treasure hunters all woke up and looked towards the gates of the City before seeing a huge swarm of locusts flew towards them! "Run!" Rick told everyone before they ran for their lives, with only a few diggers getting caught in the swarm.
But Chamberlain, who didn't run and with many locusts crawling on him, asked with a bit of fear. "What have we done?"
Meanwhile, inside
The Americans were still running as Henderson asked. "Where the hell did they come from?!"
"I ain't waiting around to find out." Daniels said.
But Burns tripped and fell over, with his glasses falling off in the process. "My glasses. My glasses!" He yelled as the others ran without noticing him.
But Beni was the last one behind, taking off his coat. "Leave me. Leave me!"
Burns called out to him. "Hey! Hey! Could you help me find my gla-" He started to ask before he heard glass shatter, as Beni had stepped on them. "Oh."
But Beni, only caring about his own skin, picked up Burns' torch and ran. "Wait for me!" Leaving Burns to fend for himself.
Burns picked up his now broken glasses and knew that he couldn't put them back on, so, alone and scared, he got up and slowly went through the darkened hallways, feeling the walls with his left hand while reaching out with his other hand. But then, he heard something. "Who's there?" He asked before getting out his gun. "Who's there?!" Before a shadow moved from a distance away, making him turn around and hold his gun at the ready before something passed behind him with a scary growl, making him turn around. But because of his blinded eyes and the hallway being dark, he couldn't see what it was. "Henderson?" He asked before he heard it again, making him turn back and forth before he heard it again, this time very close as he slowly turned around as the growl was much louder this time. And even though he was blind, Burns screamed in terror at what his blind eyes could make out what was in front of him. "Aaaaahh!"
Meanwhile, with Rick, Evy and Johnathan
While Rick was leading the siblings through another part of the hallways using a torch, the ground suddenly shook, making Evy hold her brother's hands. "Ah, Jon." She said before the sand close to them began to rise and an entire swarm of Scarabs burst from it. "Scarabs!" Evy yelled before they began to run.
"Run, Evy!" Jonathan said to his sister.
"Go, go, go! Run!" Rick told them.
But surprisingly, the herd of insects weren't chasing after them, as Mummy-Zahra was speaking to them. "No, my little friends, they are not the ones who you should devour. I want the ones that opened the chest dead.
1 of the Scarabs squealed, as if to ask. 'Where are they, Zahra? Where are the ones that opened the chest?'
"They are in another part of this very area. Find them, my little friends. Find them…and devour them all as you all see fit, but leave those 3 alone." Zahra answered, while wanting those treasure seekers devoured, as without them, Imhotep wouldn't be able to regenerate.
The Scarab squealed, as if saying. 'Yes, my good friend. It shall be done.' Before all the other Scarab beetles squealed in agreement and they all skittered to where the other 3 humans were going, making Rick and Jonathan jump to where they couldn't reach while Evy pushed herself into a wall as the swarm passed by to do their friend's work.
But as Evy pushed herself, she suddenly fell into a trap door that closed behind her as the rest of the Scarab swarm passed by, making Rick lower his gun before he and Jonathan noticed that Evy was gone. "Evelyn?"
"Evy?"
"Evelyn!"
"Evy!"
Meanwhile
Evy found herself in a dark chamber and was starting to get scared when she heard a moan nearby, making her look and seeing Burns just standing there with his back turned, making her relieved as she walked up to him. "Oh. Oh, Mr. Burns, thank goodness. I was…just starting to get scared. I've…lost everyone. I've-"
But when Burns turned around, to Evy's great shock, his eyes were completely gone, making her back up in fear. "My eyes. My eyes."
And when Evy turned around in fear, the Mummy form of Imhotep came out of the darkness with a growl, making her scream in terror as she backed away from him. And while Burns fell to the floor, Mummy-Imhotep became more interested in her as he followed her and tried to get a good look at her. But because of the eyes he'd just taken, as well as just being resurrected back into the mortal world, everything was a blur to him.
As Evy backed into a wall, she looked at Burns, who was crawling away backwards. "Please help me."
That made Mummy-Imhotep look at his 1st victim for a moment as he muffly said. "My tongue. He took my tongue."
"Please don't leave me." Evy begged.
But Mummy-Imhotep looked back at her with a growl, making her scared even more with a gasp before he guessed who this woman was and only said 1 name that he'd thought about for the last 3,000 years, with a very unearthly, deep and guttural growling voice, almost demon-like by its sound. "Anck-Su-Namun?"
Meanwhile, with Rick and Jonathan
They were trying to get the trap door open, but were unsuccessful. "Damn it!" Rick said with frustration. "It's a trap door. There's gotta be a switch or something around here someplace." He said as Jonathan watched him.
But that was when they heard Henderson yell as he and the others ran into the area. "Run, you sons of bitches! Run!"
"Go." Rick told Jonathan, knowing that the Scarabs had returned.
And as they ran, with 1 whimpering digger falling behind, he fell and screamed as the Scarab beetles were closing in on him. And as Rick watched, the swarm crawled on him and ate him alive within seconds until he was nothing more than a skeleton before continuing to chase after the others.
"Go! Go!" Rick told Jonathan before running into another hallway.
Back with Evy
As the British librarian was continuing to back away from Mummy-Imhotep, he reached out his hand, offering to her to take while speaking to her in his native language that she understood perfectly. "Come with me, my princess Anck-Su-Namun."
That was when Rick showed up and ran to her. "There you are! Will you quit playing hide and seek? Come on. Let's get outta here." He told her before looking at what she was and seeing Mummy-Imhotep, making him take a step back in shock. "WHOA!"
When Mummy-Imhotep saw Rick, he approached him with a threatening growl before he heard another voice call out. "Evy!" Making him look in the direction of the voice before he saw Jonathan, Henderson and Daniels running into the chamber before they stopped at the sight of him, with Jonathan dropping his torch as he did.
Mummy-Imhotep looked at Rick again with a growl before letting out a very loud demonic like roar. "RRRRRRAAAA!"
That made Evy scared but Rick just roared back before he shot Mummy-Imhotep with his shotgun, making him fly backwards into the floor. "Move!" Rick told the others as they all ran out of the chamber.
"Yeah, right. Did you see that?" Jonathan asked the Americans.
"It was walking! It was walking!" Henderson said with shock. But as they ran, Mummy-Imhotep got back up with a growl, not that easily killed by a mortal weapon before he looked at the direction they ran to.
But as they were all running, they stopped when they saw the Medjai pointing their rifles at them, with a scared Chamberlain on his knees in front of them, still holding the Book of the Dead and his jar in his arms.
The Medjai in front took off his face mask, revealing Ardeth, who looked at them in a bit of anger. "I told you to leave or die. You refused. Now you may have killed us all…for you have unleashed a creature that we have feared for more than 3,000 years."
"Relax. I got him." Rick said.
But Ardeth knew otherwise. "No mortal weapon can kill this creature. He's not of this world." He said before stepping aside and allowing 2 of his fellow Medjai to bring Burns to his friends.
Daniels and Henderson were shocked at the condition of their friend and looked at the Medjai with anger. "You bastards."
"What did you do to him?" Henderson demanded.
"We saved him, saved him before the creature could finish his work." Ardeth answered before telling them all. "Now leave, all of you, quickly, before he finishes you all." He advised before addressing his fellow Medjai. "Yallah. Nimishi." Before they lowered their weapons and headed to the chamber Imhotep was in, more than likely gone by now. "I must now go on the hunt and try to find a way to kill him."
"I already told you I got him." Rick told the Medjai leader.
But Ardeth turned around and said with a dark warning. "Know this: this creature is the bringer of death. He will never eat, he will never sleep…and he will never stop." Before following his fellow Medjai.
Meanwhile, with Beni
The cowardly, treasure seeking backstabber was searching for a way out while hearing squealing noises as he pointed his gun in all directions while moving through the chamber with the legs of Anubis. And after a few minutes, he calmed down and turned around…to see Mummy-Imhotep standing inces in front of him, making him scream as he dropped his torch.
Mummy-Imhotep slowly backed Beni into the statue as the coward began using his various religious icons to stop him, starting with a cross. "May the good Lord protect and watch over me as a shepherd watches over his flock." Then he tried using Arabic, and then Chinese. But they didn't even work as Mummy-Imhotep was continuing to advance on him. And when the undead creature was about to grab him, Beni tried 1 more language and icon, an icon and the language of Hebrew.
Imhotep immediately understood that language, as it was the language of the slave people from his time. "The language of the slaves." He said before thinking that this pathetic, little man could be of some use to him. "I may have use for you. And the rewards…will be great." He said before showing Beni little bits of pure gold.
And upon seeing the gold, he was immediately drawn to it, as his greed got the best of him. "My prince." He said as he nervously grinned.
"Where are the other SACRED JARS?!" Mummy-Imhotep demanded while holding the shattered jar that the Americans left behind.
A bit later
Outside of the City of the Dead, Rick, Evy, Johnathan and the treasure seeking Americans, along with the eyeless and tongueless Burns, were all riding their camels and horses out of the City to get back to Cairo, not bothering to pack anything other than what they could carry, as they wanted to get far away from Imhotep as possible.
But as they did, Mummy-Imhotep's hand burst out of the sandy ground as he roared in anger. "RRRRAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Meanwhile, a few miles away from Hamunaptra
Someone was looking through his spyglass, watching the archaeologists and the Medjai leaving the ancient city in a hurry on their camels and horses. The man who watched them began to smirk. "It's about time they left." Before he called to the others who were asleep. "Wake up! C'mon, wake up!" As he kicked a few of them, making them stand up quickly. "Gather your weapons. The treasures of the ancient City of the Dead are finally ours for the taking. Move!"
All nodded and gathered their guns and equipment and climbed on their camels and headed towards Hamunaptra.
Meanwhile, inside the tomb
Mummy-Zahra roared out loudly, feeling she had failed now that Imhotep was free to cause death and destruction upon the world. "RRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
But as she sensed a group of tomb raiders entering Hamunaptra, she knew what she had to do: she would take the life force from these thieves so she could be fully regenerated to her human form and use her Hom-Dai powers to go and try to stop Imhotep herself.
The tomb-raiders checked the camp of the archaeologists 1st, taking what seemed to be valuable before entering the tombs below. Their leader kept smirking as he and the others lit up their torches. "Once we have our hands on the treasures of Seti, we'll be living like kings." Making the others chuckle in agreement as they imagined their lives when they got their hands on Seti's fortune.
But unknown to them, they were watched by Mummy-Zahra, who was seeing into their souls and seeing that they were pure evil, as they'd killed families, even women and children in pursuit of treasure and personal gain, or just for the pleasure of it. And because of that, Mummy-Zahra would give the unfortunate victims of those men the vengeance, retribution and justice their souls cried out for.
Below her feet, one scarab crawled over to her. She carefully took it in her hands, whispering to it. "Gather the entire swarm and make them split up so they get lost in the tomb. I will take care of them."
The scarab spoke back as he would do so. And when Mummy-Zahra put the little insect back on the ground, it quickly dug itself deep in the sand.
While the tomb-raiders entered further into the tombs, they began to hear strange voices around them and a sudden wind blowing over them, which startled them.
Their leader however remained stern. "Ignore it! Keep moving." As he clearly didn't believe in the curse of the 2 mummies.
And when they went further and further into the tombs, the entire swarm of scarabs came from the ground, causing the tomb-raiders to flee. When 2 of them tried to get back to the entrance, which suddenly closed shut and a large wind extinguished their burning torches, they were terribly afraid before Mummy-Zahra slowly appeared behind them with a monstrous, terrifying growl as she slowly came up behind them before she grabbed the first one and took both his eyes and tongue the same way Mummy-Imhotep did to Burns before sucking the life force out of him.
The other tomb raider screamed in terror before he panicky shot at Zahra, but it didn't kill her and only caused her to get angry as she growled while regenerating, with Mummy-Zahra feeling a rush going through her undead body as she felt the itchy sensation of skin regrowing, making her move around before she roared a less monsterous roar before she dropped the body of the first one and walked with an angry face towards the second one, quickly killing him the same way too and making her regenerate further as she felt her skin and hair grow, as well as her powers getting stronger and stronger with each time she regenerated and after the halfway process was completed, she moved deeper into the temple to find the other tomb raiders.
And deeper into the tomb, the other tomb-raiders were all being killed by Mummy-Zahra one by one, with her playing a very scary game of cat and mouse to make them completely afraid and letting her Scarab beetle friends devour some of them as compensation for all of the hard work they'd done for her. Just as she had for the past 3,000 years. But she was sure to suck the life force to regenerate herself further, and she let the Scarabs eat the rest, save for the leader, wanting to kill him last and use his life force to regenerate fully. And when all the tomb raiders, besides the leader were all dead, she began moving slowly to get to the leader, wanting to savor his fear before killing him.
20 minutes later
The leader began to panic as he kept searching for a way out, but found none. "This can't be happening! This can't be happening!" Then, he had nowhere to go as he ran into a dead end.
When he turned, he was suddenly grabbed by the throat. Being more afraid than ever before, he looked into the eyes of an almost human looking Mummy-Zahra, speaking to him in her deep growling voice and her ancient Egyptian tongue. "There are no treasures here, you greedy fool. There is nothing left for you any longer in this world. Only… death." Before she then sucked the life force out of him while the raider leader screamed in fear and agony, leaving him only a lifeless corpse, more bone than skin.
The door to the entrance slowly opened, revealing Zahra, now looking fully human and alive, just as she was before she died thousands of years ago. She then largely removed the linen from her body, but left them covering her breasts and private parts. And as she looked at the now mostly buried Hamunaptra under the sands of the desert, she was saddened that the flow of time had been unkind to Egypt's ancient treasures. But leaving it out of her mind for now, Zahra faced the horizon, seeing where Imhotep had gone too.
Zahra sadly sighed. "Oh, Imhotep... if you'd only seen through Anck-Su-Namun's lies and deceit." Before a tear fell from her eye, from both sadness and determination. "But though it breaks my heart, my dear Imhotep... I will try to convince you to stop. But if you won't... I will stop you no matter the cost to myself."
And so, having vowed to protect the world from the destruction that Imhotep's curse would bring, Zahra raised her arms, creating a sand vortex around her and flew as a powerful sandstorm into the distance, following the trail of the ones that opened the chest, as she knew that wherever they were going, Imhotep would be there, as well as a select few Medjai, which she would enlist in her goal of putting her dear Imhotep back into the sands of Egypt, as well as herself. But she would be very careful to not let Imhotep know of her presence until the time was right, only use her power to stop whatever plagues she could that Imhotep's curse would bring upon the entire Earth.
There you go, my dear friends, the 3rd chapter is complete. I hoped you all loved the parts with Zahra. As you know, she's fully regenerated and her powers are fully grown, which will play a very huge part in the next 2 chapters to come. And I've also got a perfect idea for the outfit that she will be wearing: picture the robe that Imhotep wore in the Mummy Returns before he faced the Scorpion King, complete with a hood to cover her face, but a female version of it, which will be her outfit but she'll have an outfit similar to what Ardeth Bay had when he showed up to help Evy and Alex in the 2nd movie. And picture a sword like Ardeth's, but its blade is gold while the handle is silver, as well as a golden dagger like the 1 Imhotep tried to stab Evy with. Anyway, rate and review and I'll see you all next time, my dear friends.
