"Where is she?! Bo screamed as she gripped Hale's shirt collar in her hands.
"Let me go, now! Hale screamed.
Bo let go and turned around and punched the nearest wall.
"See. That is why. You are too impulsive and never think of anyone, but yourself. Your needs. Everything that has everything to do with Bo Dennis and nothing to do with the rest of us". Hale said harshly.
"I know you know where she is. You better tell me". Bo spun back around.
"If Lauren wanted to get away from you, she deserves to". Hale shrugged as he took a seat behind his desk.
"What does that mean? Bo seethed.
"It means she's been getting the short end of the stick". Hale started chewing his gum again. Bo's grip nearly made him swallow it.
"She's my girlfriend Hale. She's my top priority". Bo snapped.
"You need to look up those two words because Lauren has certainly not been your priority". Hale began writing as he talked to the brunette.
"I just need to know where she is." Bo said softly.
"You won't find out from me. As I said, Lauren deserves a break. A breather. Now you know where the exits are. I'm a terribly busy man". Hale picked up the phone receiver and dialed. Once he started talking Bo looked at him harshly and walked out of his office and out of the building.
Why would Lauren do this? Why would she vanish without a word to Bo? They are supposed to be a couple. But the Succubus was starting to feel lonely again. She had looked in every room of the medic bay at the Light Fae compound. None of the staff had seen Lauren. Not even the Harpy that Bo once insulted.
Nobody gets lost in the Fae world like that. Someone is always spotted. Bo's eyes went bright when it dawned on her where Lauren could be. She jumped into her car and aimed in that direction. She pulled up and turned the engine off until the vehicle stopped on its own.
She walked quickly but quietly until she came to the spot she was looking for. She exhaled when her idea failed. But it was obvious Lauren had been there. There were fresh flowers at Nadia's grave. She did not disturb them, but she was disturbed that Lauren was still missing. Now she really did not have a clue where to look for the Doctor.
Lauren
The Doctor sighed and pulled her headgear off and pulled her gloves off next. She had been in surgery for hours and was happy that the patient was going to make a full recovery. He had been shot twice into major arteries. It was a rough procedure, but the blonde had known exactly what to do. Once the patient had been taken to recovery, the Doctor finally exhaled and left the operating room.
She settled into her new office. She had plenty of space to walk and stretch. Her couch is wonderfully comfortable too. She had a long lounge chair that she can use for naps. She never wanted to return to human medicine after treating the Fae for such a long time, but this is the best place for her to be. Out of their world. Out of her world.
She pushed a button on her office phone and ordered lunch. Once she was done, she showered and waited for it.
After lunch, she was ready for her afternoon meeting. A few games of racquetball with one of the nurses. The woman had bragged over and over at how well she played the game. Lauren had to shut her up and she planned on doing just that. Francesca is a gorgeous woman. But her mouth can make her the ugliest woman in the world. Lauren laughed at the last thought. She swears like a sailor outside of work but someone different is exactly what Lauren needs to get her mind off of everything else she is trying to get away from.
As expected Lauren whipped the woman three times. She had only planned on playing two games, but Frankie thought Lauren was on a luck streak, and asked for another game. Lauren whipped her again and called it a day.
It was still early and beautiful out. She pulled on a small jacket and ballcap. She sprinted to her car and ducked inside of it. She started the engine, checked her surroundings and peeled out of the parking garage.
She pulled the hat off and let her hair fall down her back and around her shoulders. She smiled as she drove freely through the streets towards her new house. It was large but small enough for just her. She only hoped the traffic stayed thin. She wanted to get home and to her big bathtub as soon as possible. She was spoiling herself, but so what, she deserved this simple life. Nowhere to be. Nowhere to go. Nobody to wait on. Nobody to rely on, but herself and she was. She is sure Bo is furious with her absence, but her anger would dissolve into Dyson's arms or bed. She shook those thoughts away and sped up.
Dyson and Kenzi.
"I'm telling you Kenz, I need to go and find Bo". Dyson whispered.
"Bo vanished just like Lauren. So, you are the only one around that can tell me what the hell happened between the three of you? Kenzi asked.
"I told her Kenzi". Dyson replied.
"And?! Kenzi punched him in the arm smiling.
"She punched me and called me an asshole". Dyson smiled as he drank his beer.
"So, she didn't say it back? Kenzi asked.
"No. She didn't". Dyson answered. The thought sickened him. For once can't Bo just tell him she loves him?
"Has she ever said it to you? Kenzi asked. They had never really spoken about it. When Dyson would finally tell Bo. What they expected her to do or say.
"She said I was hers but no, she never said the exact words to me yet". Dyson rolled his eyes.
"Well shit. Getting your feelings back for you was all for nothing. Damn and I got that itchy ass rash for nothing too". Kenzi shrieked from the memory.
"She loves me Kenzi, even if she never says it, I know she does". Dyson smiled.
"She told me she loves Lauren, Dyson. She told me right to my face. You might want to try mating with someone else". Kenzi suggested.
"I just need to wait fifty years or five minutes until Bo realizes Lauren has left her". Dyson took another beer.
"You don't know that". Kenzi slapped him on the back.
"No? Why hasn't Lauren called any of us? Why isn't she here talking to Trick about something? Why isn't she at the lab working like she is supposed to be doing? She is gone Kenzi. Bo will be mine soon. I just need to wait." Dyson sat back in the booth.
Thanks to Bo's Dawning, Dyson now knew what Bo longs for. A peaceful life in the suburbs. Only he and Bo know that. Her partner must be a Doctor. He could learn to be one, but Bo must choose him first, then he will study medicine or learn as much as he needs to learn to fool her into believing he is one. She did comment on his scrubs, so that's a plus for him and a negative for Lauren. Just wait, his wolf growled.
"We'll wait". Dyson raised his glass and gestured towards the doors.
Kenzi rolled her eyes. Dyson is a dumbass if he thinks it is over that easily between Bo and Lauren. If Kenzi could not convince her to move on from the Doctor, a wolf would fail too.
Bo
Idea after idea failed so now Bo was on her latest idea. She had found a place that pulled a picture of Lauren off of her phone and she was walking the streets asking everyone she spotted if they had seen Lauren. She got a few maybes, but further information depended upon her sleeping with them for the rest. Pulsing them was out of the question because they would likely become even more aroused and take up more of Bo's time.
The sidewalks were now clear, and the traffic was a car every few minutes. She threw her arms in the air and looked around. There was not anyone else to ask. She jumped into her car. She sped off into traffic, she swerved to avoid hitting an oncoming car.
Lauren swerved so she would not hit Bo's car. That thing could be spotted anywhere, she kept driving after realizing she did not so much as scratch her car. Her tinted windows prevented Bo from seeing her, but she clearly saw the Succubus and her distress at their near collision. If something does turn out to be wrong with Bo, she has Fae doctors that can attend to her wounds.
Bo sat and watched that car. Something was different about it. Something was drawing her to it. Probably because it was a muscle car like hers. But she was not looking for a car, she was looking for a person. She stared at the picture she had of Lauren. She looked her dead in the eyes trying to find something that would lead her to the Doctor. She had left Bo without a word or an explanation. If Dyson was right, she must have smelled him on her, and that is why she left.
Bo had promised she would not sleep with Dyson and even though he was making that hard not to do, she had not gone back on her word, but Lauren does not know that. Everything Lauren thinks is wrong. So wrong. Bo spoke softly.
Just find her damn it! Bo mentally slapped herself. That car she saw was miles gone, and so was the pull it had on her. It had swerved so hard trying not to hit it but kept its speed in the process. She pulled off and the search was on again.
Dyson and Hale
"Tell me she's gone Hale". Dyson walked into the Ash office.
"You and Bo have the same brain, I won't tell you a damn thing about Lauren". Hale laughed.
"So, she's still around then? Dyson raised an eyebrow.
Hale did not say a word, he kept on writing. Dyson stood there waiting for something to happen. For Hale to answer him or for Lauren to call. Something to tell him that she was indeed gone and his path to Bo was finally clear.
"You and Bo both smell like each other. A bath would do you good". Hale waved his hand in the air.
"No. I like smelling like Bo. It's not my fault if people think we did more than we actually did". Dyson took a seat.
"If you're waiting for Lauren to call me, she won't". Hale flipped pages on his desk.
"You are the Ash, you must know where your ward is". Dyson let his words trail off of his tongue.
"And you are nothing, but a Light Fae with ties to the Blood King. You have no say here or in what I tell you". Hale replied as he finished up his paperwork.
"Hale, I thought we were closer than this". Dyson scoffed.
"We were until you slept with my sister. I have not forgotten about that. Even without your love for Bo, you were still an asshole". Hale stood to grab his hat and jacket.
"Where are you going? Dyson asked.
"My workday is done. Do not think you will find anything here after I leave. Nothing was written down regarding Lauren's whereabouts. Besides after what the Succubus did to the Lich, I would stay clear of Lauren right now". Hale laughed as he walked out of his office. Dyson had been thrown out by Light Fae ogres.
The Ash put his hat on and prepared for fun. He had a hot date and none of these fools know her.
Dyson stood and dusted himself off. The gang was imploding. Nobody cared to seek Bo out but him. And all the brunette seemed to care about was a woman that walked away from all of them. If the single life is Lauren's choice, Bo should respect it and leave her to her choice. Trick had vanished too, or he simply does not want to put up with the wolf at the moment. Dyson's job was to look after Bo. Keep an eye on her so she would not cause trouble among the Fae. The Dark Fae in particular. Dyson wondered if Lauren has defected and found a way to join them. It would serve her right, the Morrigan does not give a shit about anyone or anything. Lauren would fit right in with that those idiots.
Bo
Bo had stormed the Dark Fae compound looking for the Morrigan. That bitch would love to get her hands on Lauren just to fuck with Bo. But pulse after pulse proved futile so she dropped the woman on her desk. Now she was back in her car. She looked left, she looked right. Nothing was coming to her tonight. She kept thinking about that car she saw earlier and why it meant so much to her still. The windows were dark, so she never saw who the driver was.
Lauren. Focus on Lauren. She smacked the back of her own head. A Doctor. A Scientist. Someone far too good for Bo. But someone she loves with every ounce of her being. Lauren was probably born holding a stethoscope. That is how smart she is, and it is those same smarts that are keeping Bo from finding her.
Lauren must be so pissed off to just drop out of thin air. She kept calling and her calls kept going to the Doctor's voicemail. Bo finally stopped leaving messages because she was not sure what she needed to say or to apologize for.
Lauren knows how to keep to herself and she is apparently keeping Bo away from her. They should've all closed the Dal in celebration of Bo's emerging from her Dawning. She thought of the moment she brought Dyson back. There was nothing about it that screamed her relationship was over. She brought him back because it was the right thing to do. But apparently it was the wrong thing for her relationship.
Come on Lauren help me find you. Bo thought to herself. She finally turned left hoping she was on the right path to the woman. It was getting later and later, and she did not want to go another night without finding Lauren.
It had already been too long since she kissed her. Since she held her hand. Squeezed it just before entering the temple. That damn temple was proving to be ruins. Especially if it ruined her relationship. All the preparation was bullshit. Nothing she did helped her emerge from it. Crying girl. None of that was necessary.
A cold chill ran down her spine when she thought of blaming Lauren for being caged when Kenzi was missing. That was all on Bo. They did not live with Kenzi. How would they know she was not the real one? Kenzi did not show them an obvious sign like she had shown Bo by eating peanuts in front of her.
Stop. Just stop. Kenzi is not to blame. Dyson is not to blame. Bo is. She committed to Lauren and stepped out on her soon afterwards. If Lauren is upset, she has reason to be.
The brunette slowed down when she pulled into a residential area. All of these houses were immaculate. Two stories. Sometimes three stories. She looked at every address number. At every driveway. She came to an immediate halt when she spotted the car from earlier.
Taking some deep breaths, she freshened up as best she could before climbing out of her car. Slowly she walked up to the door. She looked for a doorbell and just as she found it, the door opened.
"Can I help you? An older man asked.
"I….I'm looking for someone. That car seems familiar to me". Bo swallowed.
"That's my car dear. Just got it today". The old man folded his arms.
"Were you nearly in a wreck earlier today? Bo asked.
"A wreck!? The man stomped out to the car. He used a flashlight as he circled it and did not see a mark on it. "You had me worried. I just bought this car. The woman seemed honest enough". The man sighed in relief.
"Wait. A woman? What did she look like? Bo asked.
"Well you're mighty nosey. If you must know she had dark hair like yours. It was a tad longer. But she is a looker. If I was young enough..". The old man laughed.
"What was her name? Bo asked.
"Karen and that's all I needed to know. I was driving a clunker and she sold this to me, dirt cheap". The old man laughed at his luck.
"Did she give you a last name? Bo asked.
"You have asked enough questions. Now kindly get off of my property. That woman looked troubled and you look like trouble. I won't betray her for the likes of you". The old man walked off and locked his doors behind him. He turned on the porchlight and it was blinding Bo.
She stood there hoping the man would take pity on her and tell her more about this Karen, but he never surfaced again, and she was tired of standing there, looking humiliated.
She jumped back into her car and went back the way she came. There is something she is missing, and the Ash could hold answers.
She called Hale and he was short with his answers. She heard music in the background and deduced that he must be on a date or out drinking. Which left his office vulnerable.
She wasted no time storming the compound and the throne room. She pulled some files out of a hidden drawer and pulled out some papers.
She found a box labeled Lauren and it was empty. She screamed at the sight. Her eyes started flashing blue again and it made her worry. If the Succubus took control, she may never relinquish it again.
But Bo knew she was onto something. Something that would lead her to Lauren. She jumped back into her car and headed to that old man's house again. There is something particularly important that she had forgotten to do. Something she had not thought of. Once the lights in his house had been shut off, she jumped into action. She used her old tricks and opened the car door. Once the scents hit her, she knew she had hit pay dirt. She looked on the floors and found a huge clue.
"Oh Dr. Lewis. You are getting sloppy". Bo smiled as she held an earring in her hand. It matched the one she had lost long ago. Finally, a clue to the Doctor. A real clue. She gently closed the car door and pulled her car behind a huge bush. She would wait for the man to wake up in the morning and grill him like she had never grilled anyone before.
