Bo took some deep breaths, as she stood just outside of where Lauren had called her to. She doesn't know what she's about to walk in on. She doesn't know if the Doctor will be alone. She does know Lauren is hurting. Her voice was as hard as Bo had ever heard it when she called her earlier. She took one deep breath and knocked on the door. After ten minutes of knocking, she pulled on it. She gently poked her head just inside the door and called out for Lauren. She was met with silence. She looked at her phone and confirmed she was where she was supposed to be.
She walked inside and looked around. It is clean and deserted. She found a bedroom and got an idea.
Lauren
The doctor had been late meeting Bo, thanks to traffic. She pulled up and ordered her driver to hang outside. She wants to be alone when she talks to Bo and her lovers. Lovers, she shook her head. The brunette has a ton of them. Probably smells like them too.
She walked towards the building and opened the door. She walked inside and looked around. Everything in her was telling her, she isn't alone. She walked towards the table and set her bag down.
"Hi." Bo stood behind the blonde.
"It's awfully quiet, where is everyone? Lauren asked over her shoulder.
"I'm the only one that needs to be here. So, I'm all that I brought". Bo spoke softly. She took in Lauren. The Doctor has lost some weight. But she's toned in all the right places.
Lauren stood looking at the wall in front of her. She took a deep breath and turned around. "Bo?".
The brunette stood staring at the blonde. "I told you, I came alone."
"Don't you think that you need to put some clothes on?". Lauren asked.
"I had clothes on. But, I decided to strip. To show you, I have nothing to hide. No bites. No wires. It is just me, Bo". The brunette slowly turned around in circles a few times.
"Bo." Lauren shook her head.
"Lauren, it's not what you think." Bo stopped.
"You don't know what I think. You never ask". Lauren snapped.
Bo took a deep breath and released it, hard. "Lauren. We need to talk. We really do. But you're right, I don't know what you are thinking."
"I asked you to bring your lovers. Where are they?". Lauren braced herself as she looked around.
"Nobody is here, Lauren. It's just the two of us. I don't have lovers." Bo frowned.
"Bo, you're lying". Lauren stared hard at her.
"I don't, Lauren. I haven't slept with anyone. Not since we last slept together." Bo stepped forward.
"You're lying, Bo". Lauren's facial expression never changed. She stared at the woman lying to her.
"It's the truth, Lauren. I'm sorry you don't believe me. I love you. Believe that". Bo walked forward.
"No, you don't. You love him, Dyson. I'm surprised you didn't bring him with you. You keep him everywhere. In your brain. In your heart. In your mouth". Lauren backed up.
"My mouth? What?". Bo looked stunned.
Lauren shook her head and walked away. Bo was still naked and still playing games. Either she's telling the truth, or she still thinks the Doctor is dumb.
"Lauren, you can't accuse me of something and not explain." Bo grabbed her jacket and pulled it on. The game of being naked to prove her point is pointless.
"You're a succubus. You can't help but have lovers. I'm not exactly accusing you of sleeping around. I'm accusing you of putting your mouth on him. On Dyson". Lauren took a seat and made sure Bo couldn't sit next to her.
"I didn't sleep with him, Lauren." Bo shook the tears away before they could fall.
"You promised no Dyson. What did you do? Strip each other's clothes off the minute you entered your Dawning? Have sex the entire time you were in there? Lauren asked.
"No. We didn't sleep together." Bo bowed her head. Lauren knew more was coming and waited. "He kissed me. After he admitted he had his love back." Bo shook her head.
"Who pulled back first? Lauren asked. Bo's eyes went wide and the blonde had her answer. "I see. Well, my time is done here".
"No, Lauren! Don't go. I can explain". Bo walked towards the woman. The closer she got, the further Lauren walked away.
"Go home, Bo. Go back to Dyson. Go back to all of them. I wasn't ever welcome there. Not among your family". Lauren grabbed a bottle of water and took a long drink.
"We can still be a couple, Lauren. Dyson kissed me. I didn't kiss him. But I didn't stop it. Something in there attacked us and broke it up. I do love Dyson, as a friend. It is nothing compared to how much I love you. I've looked for you since the minute I saw that tape you had delivered at the bar. I had Dyson track down that Doctor you were dancing with. I tried everything I could think of to find you." Bo rambled off. It was probably the most she's ever spoken to the woman all at once.
"Bo.". Lauren sighed. "I can't trust you. I put this impossible rule in place and you took it on as a challenge. A challenge to see how many times you can make out with him or more. It is not in a succubus nature to fall in love. I knew that and broke my own rule. I fell in love with a patient. Even as my oldest patient was asleep in her pod. I gave up everything for you, and you gave me nothing but heartache."
"Lauren. I'm sorry. I'm sorry you can't trust me. I'm sorry they hurt you. But I'm not them, Lauren. I love you. You can trust me". Bo wiped her face. Not her tears. Her anger.
"I was told that you flirted with him. Called him a Doctor. I guess in your mind, my career is all bullshit". Lauren stood staring out the window.
"Wow! Bo screamed. "You've had spies on me".
"It wasn't hard for the Ash guard to hear you when that tape was being delivered. Probably my last act under the Ash. There's no girlfriend in a coma. There is nothing for me to go back there for. I'm sure Kenzi is throwing a kegger celebrating you choosing Dyson." Lauren watched two birds battling in the sky. Both the same size and strong. "K-i-s-s-i-n-g."
Bo shook her head when she saw what Lauren was looking at and pulled the curtains closed. "I don't know what to do".
"You've done and said and not said enough". Lauren turned and walked away from the window.
"Lauren. Don't go, please." Bo pleaded.
"You just said you don't know what to do." Lauren laughed.
"I love you, Lauren. I do. I just don't know how to fix this." Bo sighed. "I thought you thought I was sleeping with people. I had no idea you knew about that kiss. A kiss that means nothing to me."
"When you saved his life and brought him back. You turned around to me, I could smell his breath on you. Unless you were wounded and needed to feed that is the only reason I could deduce why you kissed him. But you didn't say anything about being injured. That's what gave you away. The way you fell all over his body. Dyson can be in human form, and still smell like a wolf. But he's who you want. He's who you shall have". Lauren walked ahead and never looked back.
Bo couldn't chase after her. She was still half naked. She cursed herself for not staying dressed. She cried as she put her clothes on. She heard a car pull off and knew Lauren was gone again.
"Are you going to work Dr. Lewis? Her driver asked.
"No. Take me home". Lauren sat back in her seat. She looked behind her and saw her escort nearly tailgating them so they couldn't be ambushed.
Bo emerged from the building with tears still falling. She looked left to right and saw nothing. She got an idea and hoped it was going to pay off.
The Dal
Trick was busy and he was happy Dyson wasn't around to send his customers running out. Kenzi, however, is there. She'd ordered a pizza and was curled up in a booth with one hand wrapped around a bottle and the other rested on her stomach.
"What's up, Trick? Hale asked.
"Kenzi being Kenzi". Trick pointed.
"Still no sign of Bo, huh?." Hale asked.
"You know she's not coming back here without Lauren". Trick sighed.
"She'll be back, Trick. Someday." Hale knew the old man is missing his granddaughter. "She just wants Lauren and won't stop until she gets her".
"Where's Dyson? Trick asked.
"Hell if I know. I had to put the compound on lockdown last night to keep him out of there, just so me and my people could get some sleep. I haven't seen him since and the place is still heavily guarded. So am I." He showed Trick a new gun.
"You'd really shoot him? Trick asked.
"Dyson is losing it Trick. He sounded drunk screaming how Bo's his mate and as his old partner and Ash that I owe it to him to make Lauren come back so Bo will be forced to. So, yeah, I'd shoot him". Hale shook his head.
"Is Lauren officially free now? Trick asked.
"I have a meeting with the High Council in about thirty minutes. All signs point to it being done by the end of the day." Hale drank his beer and wiped his mouth.
"Good. The last thing we need is a furious succubus coming back here." Trick swallowed.
"Trick? Do you need sanctuary?". Hale asked.
"No. No. Nothing like that. I just don't think adding to Bo's anger about losing Lauren is a good idea." Trick walked out to serve another customer.
Hale watched him and shook his head. His eyes landed on Kenzi. The girl was passed out. He would wake her, but she'd make him late for his meeting. The blood king is right. He needs to make sure Lauren's freedom is granted. Dyson is one thing, but hearing how Bo brought Dyson back sent a new tune up the siren's throat.
"I'll catch you later, Trick. Say hi to Kenzi, when she wakes up". Hale smiled as he walked out.
Trick nodded at Hale but shook his head at Kenzi. "Get her up and in a room somewhere, okay". He nodded to one of the barmaids. He watched as several men helped take Kenzi to one of the back rooms. She'll have to sleep it off.
Dyson
The wolf sat tapping a pen on his desk. Every tip he had failed. He wasn't finding Bo at all.
"Tough day, coach?". Tamsin took a seat at her own desk.
"Not now, Tamsin". Dyson growled. He never looked at her.
"You're chasing your own tail, you know that right?". Tamsin laughed.
"Leave it alone Tamsin". Dyson gritted his teeth. "You're not a wolf, you don't understand."
"I understand. You're chasing a dead-end. She's gone. If she wanted you, she'd be here, with you. Now stop moping, we have a new case to solve". Tamsin threw a folder at him. He caught it without looking.
"What is this? Dyson asked.
"Fae have been turning up dead. No apparent cause has been detected." Tamsin replied.
"Where? How?." Dyson asked.
"I don't know. One of the squad came across a small field of bodies. The bodies have been recovered but we're waiting on a new medical examiner to arrive". Tamsin read over her own files.
"Well, if Hale would force Lauren to come back, we'd have a medical examiner." Dyson shrugged.
"Dude, focus." Tamsin rolled her eyes. This idiot has been so obsessed with Bo that they're falling behind on their cases.
Dyson slammed the folder down and stood.
"Where are you going?." Tamsin asked.
"To find Lauren. I've had enough of her bullshit." Dyson growled.
Tamsin raised her head and stood too. "Hey." She said.
Dyson turned around "What now?."
Tamsin swung with a weapon and knocked him out. "Sorry, I need Lauren to stay gone." She whispered as she dragged him into an empty interrogation room and busted the light so nobody would need to go in there.
The Dal
"How long have I been here? What time is it?." Kenzi asked as she walked out to see Trick.
"Only for a few hours." Trick replied. The place was empty and he was washing glasses.
"What's to eat?." Kenzi asked.
"Whatever is in your kitchen." Trick replied.
"Wow". Kenzi sighed.
"I said you can have free liquor. You're not going to eat up food that I keep for my paying customers". Trick replied as he threw his towel into a hamper.
"Fine." Kenzi shrugged and left Trick in his bar. It is still early enough for her to walk home safely. Bo left her without wheels and she has no idea where Dyson is. Probably trying to hunt her down.
Bo
The Succubus parked, grabbed her jacket and climbed out of her car. She locked it and turned her flashlight on. She never took her eyes off the road. It was starting to get dark and she needed to stay focused on the tire tracks. It's her only lead to find Lauren again.
She fucked up the last time, she can't screw this conversation up. But now she knows what she's up against. Lauren knows Dyson kissed her. Lauren knows Bo didn't pull away. There's no more secrets between them. She hopes. Lauren might have been through some things since she's seen her last. But if she turned to someone else, Bo has no reason to judge. She felt her eyes turn over at the thought.
She followed the road as far as it would go and looked up. A house stood, dark. She rang the doorbell. Her eyes went wide when she heard heels. Someone is home. Please, let it be Lauren.
Her mouth dropped when the door opened. "What are you doing here? What are you doing alive?." Bo gasped.
"Come in, Succubus".
"I asked you a question. We thought you were dead!". Bo snapped.
"As you can see, I am not. I am well. Thanks to Dr. Lewis".
"I don't even know what to call you. Ash doesn't seem to fit anymore". Bo shook her head. The man in front of her, should be dead. Dead and buried.
"It's none of your business how or why I'm alive. Now, sit. Dr. Lewis will be along shortly". The man said coldly.
"I'm not sitting anywhere. Lauren owes me an explanation. Like how the hell you're alive". Bo snapped.
"Did you not hear me say Dr. Lewis? She doesn't owe you anything about my condition. She can't break her patient/doctor oath." The man laughed as he slithered out of the room.
Bo stood shaking her head. She's sure her eyes are red. It makes sense why Bo and her car were in that hole. He must have built it for her. Lauren has another secret. Just when Bo thought they were square again.
"How did you find me?." Lauren sighed as she walked into the room.
"I followed your tire tracks, and hello to you too". Bo closed her lips.
"You followed me when I didn't ask you to. Time for manners was back in that old building". Lauren shook her head.
"Well, we needed to talk again and now that I saw what you've been up to, we have even more to talk about". Bo took a seat.
"I don't owe you an explanation about my patient. I told you all I was going to say back there. Now, if you will excuse me, I need to start dinner". Lauren gestured towards the door.
"Well, you have another dinner guest, Doctor". Bo raised an eyebrow.
"Go home Bo. I'm not what you want. I'm not what you need. I never will be. Unless you need my chi to bring someone back from the dead, again''. Lauren held the door open.
"He died to protect me. I had to bring him back. I only said he looked good in scrubs. He did. Just as you do." Bo said simply. She put one leg over the other. She's not leaving. Not until things are right between them again.
Lauren shook her head and closed the door. "Bo. There's nothing else to say that I haven't already said. I thought you were nicer than this. But I guess I was wrong".
"I'm not leaving you here, with him." Bo gestured towards the back of the house.
"Oh, you're jealous of a man Bo? Really?." Lauren rolled her eyes.
"Of course not. I just don't like him or trust him. How can you?." Bo snapped.
"Since he told me you freed Nadia and didn't tell me. Since he arranged for my real freedom. Since he's been protecting me from countless attempted attacks. Dyson's not the only dick out there. People talk. They talk to Noah." Lauren kept her distance.
"Who the fuck is Noah?." Bo asked bitterly.
"The Ash. The Ash back there. Lachlan lied to you and you lied to me. You could have told me I was free. But you only wanted to keep me there. You only wanted to keep me chained to your boyfriend and his friends. Well, I'm free now. Noah will take care of me. His gang is far stronger than the wolf you lean on. So, go and get on with your life. The little human doesn't need your protection". Lauren walked towards the radio and turned it on.
"I'm not leaving. I told you I love you. I meant it then and I mean it now. I'm not leaving you with a dangerous fae like that. I don't know him like you do. I don't trust him. He must want something." Bo seethed.
"I saved his life. He wants nothing from me. He didn't wake my girlfriend up to kill her. He didn't curse her either. Lachlan did." Lauren threw a folder in Bo's lap. She opened it and started to read the papers.
"Lauren, I...I didn't know". Bo gasped.
"Because you're trained to believe everything a man tells you, but nothing I ever do." Lauren snapped. "Are you coming to eat or not? I'm hungry and you've disturbed my dinner time".
Bo set the file on the table. Lachlan had lied to her. He had lied to Lauren too. Now the only person Lauren trusts more than herself is Noah.
The succubus cried and smiled. She cried for everything Lauren had lost. She smiled because she still has a chance to make it alright again. First for Lauren. Then they can work on their relationship. Lauren could have left her last year, but she stayed because she had to. She stayed for Bo too. Now Bo has to stay. Stay for Lauren. Lauren is not broken. She is shattered.
