I own nothing
I hope you enjoy this chapter. It was a long time coming. I hope I got Euron right. Let me know. There is a poll about how Euron should die? Please take it or leave your response in a review or PM me.
The next morning Raenera was in her chamber dressed in her coronation gown. Her ladies were gone from the room. After last night where Sansa danced the night away with Willas Tyrell and Smalljon spent a great deal of time talking to the sand snakes. He did not seem to care that Sansa was on the arm of Willas Tyrell. Starlight trotted into the room. She lay down by the fireplace. Rae rose from her chair moved over to Starlight, where Torrhen's found dragon egg rested by the heat of the fireplace. It was no closer to hatching than before. Ser Markas coughed causing Rae to look over to him. He bowed to her then raised his head.
"Smalljon Umber to see you, your grace," Ser Markas announced.
"Thank you Ser Markas, see him in then shut the door," Rae addressed.
Smalljon entered the room. He looked shocked when Ser Markas closed the door after he entered the room. He was dressed in his finest clothes for the day festivities. He looked over to Rae as she patted Starlight head. He was sure that Rae was just nervous about being crown queen. And she had called for him to reassure her.
"Cousin, you wanted to see me?" Smalljon asked.
Rae touched the dragon egg. She moved back over to the table pour two goblets of wine. She motion for Smalljon to join her. He did so taking the goblet from her. He took a drink. She took a bite of cured meat.
"Are you nervous about the coronation? Cause cousin I can tell you were born to be a queen," Smalljon reassured.
"No, Jon. I'm not worried about it all. The coronation is just a formality," Rae told him taking a drink.
Smalljon got a confused look on his face. He did not know why he was here then. Rae reached across the table taking his hand. Their eyes met.
"Then why did you want to see me?" Smalljon asked.
"I have a question for you," Rae said.
"What is that cousin?" Smalljon asked.
Smalljon took another drink. He poured himself another goblet of wine. His eyes looked around the room. He truly feared what the next words out of Rae's mouth could me. He watched her for a time. She took another piece of cure meat along with cheese. Before, she took another sip of her wine. Her amethyst eyes met his brown eyes.
"Do you want to marry Sansa, Jon?" Rae asked finally.
Smalljon nearly choked on his wine that he was taking a drink off when the question was asked point blank. He coughed clearing his throat. He placed the goblet down. He looked down for a moment.
"Lady Sansa, forgive me Princess Sansa, is everything any man could want in a wife. She is kind, loving and beautiful. I am lucky to be her betrothed," Smalljon answered diplomatically.
"That is not what I asked you. Are you attracted to someone else," Rae asked?
"Yes," Smalljon answered after a moment of silence.
"Who?" Rae asked.
"Lady Nymeria Sand," Smalljon answered truthfully knowing there no point lying.
"Do you love her?" Rae asked.
"I could very much so. She is everything I ever wanted in a wife. She is not a delicate flower. She is hard as stone. She is a seasoned warrior in her own right. She would do so well in harsh landscape so close to the Wall." Smalljon revealed.
"Do you love Sansa?" Rae asked.
"Yes, but not in the way I should," Smalljon revealed.
"Okay, I'll ask you again, do you want to marry Sansa. Cause if you don't tell me now while we have time to change it," Rae told him.
"No, but I cannot break it off father will kill me. It would be bad enough if she were to find a better match. Father would accept it in time. But for me to leave her for a lady of lesser birth, a bastard at that. He would disown me," Smalljon raged.
"Don't worry about your father. I have good authority that Ser Willas Tyrell, heir to Highgarden and Reach and future Warden of South would be elated to have Lady or as you called her Princess Sansa's hand in marriage," Rae said.
"You would do that," Smalljon asked.
"I want you to be happy and her be happy. If it would please your father I would even make Lady Nymeria a Martell and not a Sand" Rae said.
"You are truly a gracious Queen," Smalljon said leaving Rae.
Ser Markas looked in the room. Rae looked at him. She took a deep breath. She took another sip of her wine.
"Ser Markas send for Lord Eddard Stark. I need to speak to him." Rae ordered.
"At once your grace," Ser Markas said.
In the gardens of King's Landing, just two hours before the coronation was to take place. Lady Margaery and Willas Tyrell were walking arm in arm. He was supported by his cane. She was dressed in her finest gown. It was also somewhat revealing. Her nurses were caring for Garth. Garth was also with his father so they could catch up.
"So, dear sister how have you been," Willas asked.
"I am well as can be excepted. I am learning Riverrun. I say I am adapting well. And with any hope that I will soon be with child again. It was nice to be close in age with your siblings. I want the same thing for Garth," Margaery replied.
"It has nothing do with the fact that Prince Torrhen has not made a match. I will warn you sister this is not a game," Willas said.
"Of course it is. Queen Raenera is a great player of it. She best grandmother. Yet still, grandmother got her way with a betrothal between Garth and Lilliyan" Margaery started. Willas looked where Sansa was walking Winter in her finery. Sansa noticed him and wave at him with a huge smile on her face. Winter came over to Willas butting her head on his hand. He scratched her behind the ear and nodded for her to go back to her mistress. "Grandmother tells me you are close with Lady Sansa," Margaery offered.
"Princess Sansa is everything I ever hoped for, sister. She captured me the instant I saw her. I have never felt before how I feel for her. But I know it is never to be. I have accepted to be her friend. I am content with that sister. I will marry in time. With any hope, I will feel the same way for her as I feel for Sansa," Willas revealed.
Willas walked a little ways away from Margaery. Margaery was taking in what he said. She looked over to Sansa who was laughing with her maids. She ran up catching Willas arm that was not supporting his weight with the cane.
"There is always hope brother dear. People die every day," Margaery schemed.
Willas turned on his sister with look shock and horror. There was anger in his eyes. He realized how much their grandmother had put herself in Margaery mind. He realized that they did realize the price that could be paid now planning a death to someone so close to the crown.
"Sister heed me now stay out of this," Willas said.
Stark soldiers came up behind them. Margaery looked shocked when they stopped behind them.
"Ser Willas Tyrell?" the Stark soldiers asked.
Willas turned and nodded to them. Margaery put a fake smile on her face. She was back to playing the naïve lady that she mastered by her first moon's blood.
"Lord Eddard Stark, Master of Laws requests your presence," The lead Stark Soldier told them.
"Sister, forgive me, please take me to him," Willas said.
Margaery and Willas gave each other a poignant look.
Willas was led to Ned's study. Greatjon and Smalljon Umber were leaving the chamber when Willas approached. Smalljon looked relieved. Greatjon eyed him. He looked less than pleased but he understood. Willas presence was announced. He then entered the room. In the room was his father sitting across from Lord Eddard Stark. Ned motion for him to shut the door. As the shut Lord Eddard motioned for Willas to sit down. Willas did so with some hesitation.
"It has come to my attention. That you wish to marry my eldest daughter," Ned started.
Mace looked at Willas in shock. He had no idea why he was called to Ned office. Willas sat up straighter. He met Ned's eyes.
"Lord Stark, my intention with Princess Sansa is noble. Unlike most of my family, I have no hope for better our position in this world. Sansa has been a good friend to me and the picture I wish for in my dreams. But she is to marry someone else. So, I am content with just being her friend," Willas defended himself.
"Willas" Mace said in shock.
"You still want to marry her?" Ned asked.
"Yes," Willas said without hesitation.
Ned let out a sigh. He stood and walked over to his window. He looked out the window. Remember his little girl who now was going to be married. Smalljon Umber would make her closer to her family. But being Lady of Highgarden was more than he ever hoped for his daughter. Both men were older than her. Smalljon was in love with someone else. He knew this by looking him in the eyes. Willas truly cared deeply for Sansa maybe even loved her already. Mace was whispering to Willas heatedly as Ned looked back at them for a moment.
"Then I see only one way to make this work," Ned spoke. He broke the silence. All eyes in the room looked at him. Willas bowed his head in defeat. He knew his sister hoping for him getting Sansa was like wishing on a star. Something only children did. Mace looked deeply at Ned. "Mace with your blessing your son, Willas, will marry my daughter, Sansa, in forenight. Smalljon Umber will be released from his vows to marry her. It will be announced officially tomorrow after the coronation," Ned told them.
Willas' eyes met Ned eyes with a look of honor and hopeful joy. The smile that graced Willas' face was one his father never saw before. Mace bowed to Ned and left the room no doubt to go tell his mother. Ned walked pass Willas patting him on the back.
"I leave her in your care. Don't make me regret that decision," Ned warned.
"I will not my Lord," Willas said.
Lord Jaime sat with Lady Myrcella in his chamber balcony. Myrcella was dressed in Dornish style gown that copper colored. It was made from the finest silk. It had gems sewn onto the bodice of the gown. She looked skyward were the dragons flew overhead. Achilles trotted on to the balcony lying down by Myrcella. She looked down at the large direwolf pup. She had not seen the full-size direwolves yet or dragon up close.
" King's Landing has changed so much," Myrcella commented.
"It has, I think for the better I believe," Jaime replied.
Jaime reached down scratching behind Achilles ears. Achilles lifted his head looking at Jaime before turning to look at Myrcella. She hesitantly reached out to touch him. Achilles butted his head against her hand.
"This is Achilles. He Evalyne direwolf, he was a pup from litter Starlight, Queen Raenera's direwolf and Greywind, King Robb's direwolf," Jaime explained.
"You love Lady Evalyne," Myrcella asked.
"Very much, she wanted so much to be here when I met with you. But with the twins and Tommen needing her she could not," Jaime started. He picked up a box and handed it to Myrcella. She opened it. It was a golden lion with emerald eyes with smaller sun pendants on either side of the lion. "Evalyne helped me to design it. I hope you like it," Jaime said.
"I love it. I'll never take it off," Myrcella said putting it on.
"Trystane seems like a nice boy. You're lucky. Arranged marriages are rarely…so well arranged," Jaime tried to make conversation.
Myrcella looked at him. She bit her bottom lip. She in some part of her wanted to have her mother now. She knew her mother was dead. She was in love and it was common to want a woman help. Evalyne seemed nice and more than willing help her through everything Myrcella needed. But she was not her mother.
"Do you think mother would have liked him," Myrcella asked unsurely.
"If she saw how happy you are with him. I'm sure she would," Jaime answered.
"And you really believe that?" Myrcella laughed.
"Have you known your mother to like anyone aside from her own children?" Jaime questioned.
"She liked you," Myrcella answered.
"I'm not so sure about that," Jaime said.
Jaime stood up walking to the edge of the balcony. He was reliving his killing of her. He closed his eyes trying to forget that moment. Myrcella rose placing her hand on his back. It was enough to wake him from his living memory. He turned and looked at her.
"Listen there's something I want to tell you. Something I should have told you long ago. So… now that you've seen more of the world, you've learned how complicated things can be, people can be," Jaime started. He took a deep breath. This was the hardest thing he ever had to do. Tommen he had Evalyne for that one. "The Lannisters and Martells have hated each other for years, but you've fallen in love with Trystane. It was an accident really. I mean what were the chances? You happened to fall in love with the man you were assigned to marry? I does happen… my point is, we don't choose whom we love. It just well...it's beyond our control. I sound like an idiot," Jaime sighed frustrated.
"No, you don't" Myrcella giggled.
"What I'm trying and failing to say…" Jaime started.
"I know what you're trying to say," Myrcella cut him off.
"No, I'm afraid you don't," Jaime tried again.
"I do. I know; about you and mother. I think apart of me always knew," Myrcella said turning to Jaime. Jaime turned looked at her with a shocked look on his face. He was in for a bigger shock when Myrcella hugged him. She cuddled into his chest. "And I'm glad. I'm glad that you're my father," Myrcella muttered.
Robb and Raenera made their way into the Great Sept of Rhaenys. They were both dressed to the nines. All the common people line the stairs leading to the Great Sept. Daeny stood by High Septon Sterlan. She already had a small crown on her head. Robb squeezed Rae's hand as they passed his family. They walked up the stairs, to where two chairs were at.
"Here before the Seven Gods," High Septon Sterlan started.
He motioned for them to sit down. They did so facing the crowd. Sterlan turned to one of the other Septon on the platform. He placed an Orb and Sceptre in Robb's and Rae's hands. Sterlan moved over to were the crowns sat on red velvet pillows. He picked up Robb's first placing it on his head.
"I crown thee King Robb Stark first of his name, King in the North, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord Regnant of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the realm. Long may he reign." High Septon Sterlan said.
Long may he reign was echoed throughout the Great Sept. High Septon Sterlan moved over to the second red velvet pillow. He picked up Raenera's crown; the crown that was burnt with her in the flames that birthed her dragons. He moved over to her place it on Raenera's head. As the weight of it was on her head. He moved aside present her to the crowd.
"I crown thee Queen Raenera Stark first of her name, Queen in the North, Queen of Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lady Regnant of Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the realm. Long may she reign," High Septon Sterlan announced.
It was again echoed through the Great Sept. Rae with a huge smile looked over to Robb as the basked with the happy cheers. Robb leaned over kissing her in a passion filled. It caused even more cheers to go up.
Later, Rae and Robb sat in the throne room as the celebration for coronation took place. Tyrion stood by Rae's side talking Daeny. Ned and Catelyn stood by Robb's side. Robb caught his father look as he looked at Willas flirting openly with Sansa. Sansa returned the same flirting smile and laughter. Sansa eyes went wide looking to were Smalljon was flirting with Nymeria. Then her eyes swung to her father. She approached the thrones. She bowed to Robb and Rae. She then turned to her father.
"Is it true?" Sansa asked.
"Yes, he is a better match for you, my daughter. It is the hardest thing I ever had to do," Ned replied.
"Thank you," Sansa said hugging her father.
"What is that about?" Robb asked squeezing Rae's hand.
"Willas and Sansa are now betrothed. They will be married in forenight. Smalljon is now free to marry whomever he deems fit with our blessing and his father blessing of course," Rae said.
"What did you do," Robb asked in a harsh hushed whisper.
"I did what I thought was best."Rae started her free hand going to her belly where their fourth child rested. She looked sideways at Robb. " I talked to my cousin my love. He was resigned to marry her. A man that is to be married should not resign a fact that he is unhappy about. Willas had in not short words but pretty much told me he wants to marry Sansa. He is better matched Robb. You don't want what your mother dealt with to come to pass in Sansa do you," Rae whispered back to him.
"No, tell me before you do something, my dear. We are partners in this," Robb told her.
Robb brought their joined hand to his mouth kiss it. A cheer went up. They smiled to the public. Robb leaned in kissing her. Willas smiled as Sansa returned to him. He greeted her with a hug. Then he offered her his arm in dance.
Margaery and Lady Olenna looked at the pair with a questioning look. Mace looked pleased with himself. Loras was trying to get close to Daenerys. But she was having none of it. She spent most of her night talking to Tyrion and dance with Prince Oberyn. That Prince Doran urged Prince Oberyn to do.
"Grandmother something has changed," Margaery said.
"I don't know what has but yes something my dear has changed," Lady Olenna said.
Margaery edged closer Edmure came over to them. She greeted him with fake smiled. He offered her his arm. They began to dance.
"Your niece looks happy," Margaery said.
"She is. Ned just told me. She is to marry your brother in forenight. I hope my love that she finds the same happiness I have with you," Edmure told her.
The music suddenly stopped. Yara stood near Evalyne and Jaime. Her eyes went wide as Euron strolled into the room. He approached the Thrones. He half bowed to them.
"Your Grace, I am Euron Greyjoy, King of Iron Isles," Euron started.
"My father is Lord of Iron Isles," Yara spat out.
"Your father is dead," Euron hissed.
Euron eyes swung back to Rae. He took her in. She was a great beauty. It was a pity that she would have to die or at least her husband would have to die. The Kingsgaurds and Queenguards close in around them. Ned's hand went to his sword. He moved ever so slightly closer to Robb.
"We have not given the Iron Isles their freedom," Rae said.
"Queen Raenera, you don't want the Iron Isles it is nothing but stone and bird shit and not very attractive people," Euron addressed only Rae.
"You don't speak highly of your people," Rae commented.
"I have seen enough of the world to speak truthfully Your Grace," Euron started. He moved closer to her but was stopped by Ser Barristan Selmy. Jaime's eyes traveled to Rae's amethyst eyes. Jaime's hand was also on his sword. "I have always dreamed of marrying the most beautiful woman in the world. Unfortunately, you are married but hear also that your sister is a great beauty." Euron said eying Daeny.
Daeny regarded him with a hard look. Her eyes then went to Rae's eyes. She could tell that her sister could see through his lies.
"Besides the Iron Fleet, I have a gift for you," Euron said.
Euron produced the ice dragon egg. Rae looked over to Robb. Robb was seething with rage. She then looked at Ned who looked ready to kill. Her eyes then fell to Tyrion with a questioning look, of what to do? They regarded each other for a long moment. Rae finally nodded for Ser Barristan to accept the gift. Ser Barristan gave it to Rae. It was different than any dragon egg she felt before. A flash of the Wall, then a destroy wall flashed before her eyes as she touched it.
"It is ice dragon egg from the slivering seas. I figured what better gift for the Dragon Queen and her sister than dragon egg,"Euron laughed. Robb took the egg as he noticed the pale look on Rae's face. He knew that she had seen something. He had no clue as to what. Daeny came over taking the egg from Robb. She too had a shocked look on her face. Where normally they would feel the fire within the egg this egg was like ice radiated from within it. "In hope of an alliance between our families," Euron said.
"We thank you for your gift. It will no doubt bring my wife great joy to look at. Unfortunately, Daenerys is free to marry whomever she chooses. We have no sway over who that is. She has made her choice already," Robb growled the last part to Robb's knowledge was a lie.
