I own nothing
Author Note: I am sorry for lack of updates. I had a new character running around in my mind for another story. Truth is I had a bit of writer block. I knew what had to happen in this chapter was lost how it should go. I hope you enjoy it. I'm taking baby name suggestions. Thank you again for all your continuous support. On with the chapter...
Tyrion was walking with Rae. She was on her way to see Prince Doran. Jaime was close to them he was serving as her guard. Rae looked at Tyrion she still had not told Robb about what she heard in the flames.
"Tyrion, I need to ask you something," Rae said.
"What is it my queen," Tyrion asked.
"If anything should befall me in the wars to come will you stay on and help Robb anyway you can," Rae asked hunted by the voice in the flames.
They all paused for a moment. Jaime looked at Tyrion. Tyrion looked at his brother than he looked back to Rae. It was clear to them that something was up with the queen.
"You saw something," Tyrion said.
"No, I heard something in flames. Three will raise one will fall. I do not know what it means. I have the start of the third set of three dragons. But I have sinking feeling in my gut that it means Jon, Daeny or I will die in the greater war," Rae told them.
"Forgive me, my queen, what greater war," Jaime asked not knowing what she was talking about.
"Lord Jaime the war for the crown has ended. But I feel, no, I know the war for the dawn has just begun," Rae explained.
"That would imply night has fallen," Jaime said jokingly.
"We are the brink of the Long Night. This Winter will different than the one before," Rae said.
"How," Tyrion asked.
"I saw him. The Night King… White Walkers," Rae revealed slowly trailing off as she relived seeing them for the first time.
"Stories," Jaime said.
Rae looked at Jaime as he said those words. Tyrion looked down knowing if she saw them or him that it was true. Jaime nearly laughed until he saw her face. He coughed covering up his laugh. He could tell that Rae was very serious about this.
"He spoke to me, Jaime. It sounded like ice breaking, cracking, and shifting. Why do you think the wildlings attacked the Wall? They are afraid of something, something very real to them," Rae revealed.
Lady Olenna made her way to the Black Cells where Margaery was being held. She wanted to see how she was holding up. She was shocked to see Daenerys unsullied guarding the black cells. But the same time it did make sense to Lady Olenna because there was no chance of them begin tempted. They were loyal to Daenerys. Because Daenerys care deeply for her sister Raenera it was clear their loyalty extending to Raenera. When she approached the cell that held Margaery they brought their weapons over the door.
"I want to see my granddaughter," Margaery said.
The two unsullied soldiers just looked at each other. They spoke to each other in Valerian. Lady Olenna did not understand a word that they said. She heard someone walk behind her. She looked over her shoulder to see Ser Jorah.
"Lady Olenna," Ser Jorah said.
"Ser Jorah," Lady Olenna greeted.
"What are you doing here?" Jorah asked.
"I'm wanted to see my granddaughter," Lady Olenna answered.
"Perhaps I can help," Ser Jorah replied.
Ser Jorah spoke to the two unsullied soldiers in Valerian. They answered him the same tongue. After they stopped talking they moved their weapons allowing her to enter the cell. Lady Olenna nodded to Ser Jorah.
Margaery looked up at the door when Lady Olenna entered allowing light into the cell. She was still dressed in the same gown as the day she was taken. She had dirt on her face and body. Her hair was messy and dirt covered. She had shackle around one of her ankles. It was attached to a chain allowing her to move around her cell but not able to get anywhere the door. The room was nearly pitch black. The only light was a torch that Lady Olenna carried. She placed it in the holder. She turned taking in her granddaughter. It was not the Margaery that Lady Olenna knew. She looked nothing like that neatly polished flower that she had groomed since she at able to walk. Margaery moved until she was kneeling before her grandmother. She grabbed her grandmother hands looking up at her with a pleading look.
"Grandmother, you have to help me," Margaery pleaded.
"I will help you. You know by now a trial by combat will only end with you losing your life along with your brother, Loras' life. You need to tell me everything," Lady Olenna said.
"So I will have to stand trial with the unrightfully queen," Margaery growled.
"Margaery have care how you speak. Those words alone are an act of treason," Lady Olenna reprimanded as she turned to make sure no heard.
"Grandmother she is not the rightful queen. She has a nephew. He should be king not her," Margaery told her grandmother.
"Who told you this," Lady Olenna asked.
"Euron, Raenera told him about her nephew, Aegon, herself," Margaery revealed.
Margaery looked at her grandmother. The reaction she got was not what she was expected. Lady Olenna shook her head and paced away from her granddaughter. She thought Margaery was smarter than this. The rage was boiling inside of Lady Olenna.
"So, you risk it all for you to be queen. All on the words of some silver-tongued pirate. Did it ever accrue to you that it was all a lie to catch Euron in a treasonous act? Or by the Seven Hells even if it was true that this "Aegon" is a bastard son. Queen Raenera, Seven Hells, Daenerys has more claim to the Iron Throne than some bastard of Rhaegar or Viserys," Lady Olenna raged.
"What if he, not a bastard," Margaery tried.
"You don't know that. What you are going to do is forget about this "Aegon Targaryen" and claim in this trail that you were trying to play Euron," Lady Olenna yelled the first part than whispered the last part to Margaery explaining to her a way out of this mess.
"But," Margaery pleaded.
"You will do this if you want to live," Lady Olenna spat.
Lady Olenna turned to leave Margaery to her own thoughts. She quickly decided as much as it may hurt if Margaery was not smart enough not to follow her instruction. Then she would not interfere anymore on Margaery's behalf. If Margaery was found guilty than all eyes would fall on the rest of the Tyrell family. Lady Olenna would be damned before she let what happened to House Gardener happen to Tyrell family. She only hoped that she could convince Queen Raenera and King Robb not to put aside the marriage between Garth and Lilliyan.
Margery sat in the dark. Her mind was working out her own plan on how to get out of this. For now, she would do what her grandmother told her. But if it looked like she would lose she would play her trump card.
Prince Doran, Prince Oberyn, Trystane and Raenera sat on the balcony of Prince Doran room. They were eating the nooning meal together. Prince Doran looked over to Rae as she slowly ate her piece of cured meat. Trystane was talked animatedly with his uncle. Rae took a sip of her wine.
"Prince Doran tell me when do you plan to return to Dorne?" Rae asked.
"Soon, but know we will be at your call if you need us. My Queen, after all, we are family. Why," Prince Doran replied
"Forgive my brother, your grace," Prince Oberyn interjected.
"There is nothing to forgive Prince Oberyn. He has the right to ask." Rae addressed Prince Oberyn. She turned her eyes to Prince Doran. They regarded each other. They both could see the other intelligence danced behind other's eyes. Trystane watched the pair with fascination. He had never seen his father not doing what was best of Dorne. But he could see that Rae could just as well verse in the game. "Lady Margaery has been arrested for crimes of high treason. There will be a trail for said crimes; a fair trial for the first time in my knowledge. I'm asking if you would be willing to be one of the judges," Rae finished.
Prince Doran thought about the request. Prince Oberyn and Trystane looked quick to answer yes for their Queen. It was a huge honor to be asked. It showed that the crown trusted them. He placed his hand up stilling his son and his brother from answering for him. He regarded Rae for a moment.
"With who else if I may ask," Prince Doran asked.
"Our Master of Law, Lord Eddard Stark and my sister Princess Daenerys," Rae answered.
"I will be an honor to be," Prince Doran answered after he considered her request.
Later, Rae sat on the Iron Throne holding court. Daeny sat near her on her right side. Tyrion stood on her other side. They had been doing so for an hour so far. Most of the requests were simple. Some not so much, but this was what it truly meant to rule. One of the city watchmen approached the throne. He bowed deeply before Raenera placing his sword in front of him.
"Your Grace, Your Grace, My Lord Hand, I'm Stanli Teague of the City Watch. I humbly ask for the crowns blessing and permission to marry my love, Byanka who is a maid here at the red keep," Stanli asked.
"Granted," Rae said.
Stanli walked away from them. They all looked at each other. A moment later Mace approached. He knelt in front of her the throne. There was the collective silence that filled the throne room. Not a word seemed to be spoken. Rae's eyes darted over to Tyrion. He looked at her with a grim look on his face. He knew this would likely come to a head sooner or later.
"What can I do for you Lord Mace," Rae questioned.
"I request the release of my daughter, My queen," Mace told them.
Rae looked at Daeny for a long moment neither of them said a word. Then her eyes Tyrion he nodded his head toward her. Rae rose from the throne. Tyrion offered her his hand as she descended. She placed her hand up to motion for him to stay. Daeny stood moving over to the throne taking Rae's place to other requests.
"Lord Mace, come with me," Rae requested.
"Your Grace" Mace questioned but followed her none the less.
Edmure and Robb were arguing in Robb's and Rae chambers. Robb just came had practiced in the tiltyard. The evidence against Margaery was lock up in a chest by their bed. Edmure was demanding his wife release but in the process was insulting Rae. Robb round on his uncle with a rage-filled look. He looked very much like a wolf ready to attack.
"I will not have you disrespect her, uncle," Robb growled.
"Your wife has never liked her," Edmure argued.
Robb nearly laughed at that. He shook his head. He knew did not care for Margaery she never showed that fact to the public. Edmure was trying anything to free his wife. He was blind to her nature. He was in love with her pretty looks and her lies.
"Tell me why did she suggest the marriage between you two if she hated her so much," Robb said.
"I thought," Edmure started.
"Rae knew that game better than me then. I'm not ashamed to admit that fact. If it was up to me you could be married to Roslyn Frey. Rae suggested the match. It would please the Tyrells and you," Robb told him.
"Then why in Seven Hells did she arrest my wife," Edmure yelled.
"She had no choice," Robb growled. They met eyes. They both stared at each other. Edmure was in denial. But Robb was not backing down. Not when Margaery had caused a threat to his wife and their unborn child not to mention his other children. "Uncle, I have seen the evidence against her," Robb tried.
'I cannot believe it," Edmure denied.
"Tears of Lys, Uncle, we found tears of Lys in her things along with ingredients for moon tea. Tears of Lys were what was used to kill Rae's adoptive father, Jon Arryn. She was planning on killing you and your son," Robb told him.
"She loved Garth she would never," Edmure shook his head no in as he denied what Robb said.
"I have it all written in her own hand. As much as she loves Garth she wants to be "the" queen more. Her first husband was Renly Baratheon. If Rae did not send out her letter of intent, she would have been married to Joffery instead. I hate to tell you this, she never loved you. To her, you are a pawn to get the crown. She wants the crown and she doesn't care who she hurts on her way to it," Robb revealed.
Edmure shook his head and stormed out. Robb sank down into his chair. He looked up when hear footsteps approaching. He came over to Rae. He kissed her softly. He noticed Mace behind her. He exchanged looks with Rae. He nodded his head.
Mace dropped the paper down on the table. He looked up at Rae and Robb. It was slowly sinking into his mind what this meant for his daughter. Tears started to course down his face. He knew what it meant. They had enough proof to order only her arrest but her death.
"Why…did…" Mace struggled to ask.
Robb and Rae exchanged a look. Robb gave Rae's hand squeeze. She nodded her head. Robb kissed their join hand. He looked back at Mace.
"We don't want to rip the seven kingdoms apart," Robb said.
Mace nodded his head and got up not saying a word to them. He started to walk out of the room. Rae and Robb just exchanged looks.
Edmure was pacing in the courtyard gardens. He was not watching where he was going. He was still in denial and trying to come to terms with what Robb told him. He ran into someone His blue eyes met the eyes of Averill Crakehall. He automatically reached out to help her up.
"Forgive me, my lady," Edmure said.
"There nothing to forgive Ser," Averill said.
Averill went to walk away. Edmure turned for a moment watching her leave. He shook his head he was married. What in Seven Hells was he thinking? At the same time, he wanted to know who she was.
"My Lady, What is your name?" Edmure yelled out.
"Averill Crakehall I'm here to a lady in waiting for Lady Evalyne," Averill answered.
Mace just kept walking until he was standing on the sandy beach of King Landing. He was paying no mind to anyone. He was lost in his mind and the fact that he was going to lose his only daughter. He kept walking into the sea until his head was underwater.
Later that night, there was the feast in the main hall of the red keep. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knife. They were celebrating the pregnancy announcement of the Queen's newest child. Evalyne approached Rae and Robb bowing before them. Behind her was Lady Averill. Lady Averill followed the same suit. Edmure stood near Robb dress in dark clothes reflecting his mood. He looked like he rather be anywhere but there. Lady Olenna, Loras stood in another corner looking at the queen. They had made their public appearance. Lady Olenna was little worried that Mace had not shown up yet.
"Your Graces, may I present Lady Averill Crakehall," Evalyne said.
"Your Graces," Lady Averill said like a true lady.
"Welcome to King's Landing," Robb said.
"Please enjoy yourself Lady Averill," Rae said.
Rae turned to talk to Daeny. Daeny stood near her with a smile on her face. Her hand slipped to Rae smile. It was wondrous to feel the slight swell of the start of a baby bump. She was in a way of living through her sister knowing that she likely never hold her own child or even carry one. Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal were children and she was happy with them. A small part of her was jealous of her sister. Willas with Sansa on his arm approached them. Sansa looked so happy. She was dressed in the finest silks with gems hanging from her ears and neck.
"Your Grace," Willas addressed them.
Robb looked at him turning from talking with Ned. Ned looked up seeing his eldest daughter looking very much like Lady from the tales she loved as a child. She looked truly happy. Sansa bowed to them before moving forward hugging Rae and then Robb. Robb stood up as Willas came forward to hug him. He gave him brotherly hug. When they were in the embrace Willas whispered something to Robb.
"I on the side of the crown, my sister has always wanted what she cannot have," Willas told him.
"It brings me a sense of peace to have you on our side," Robb told Willas. Robb was truly worried about Willas' reaction. Seeing Mace reaction first hand made him so. Rae walked over to Robb. Robb's hand went around her. His hand rested on the small swell of her belly. He leaned down kissing her softly. "With any luck, we will soon celebrating your own child announcement although it hard to see my sister in that light," Robb laughed.
"Congratulation my queen, you look radiant. I pray for a healthy child and maybe another son," Willas laughed.
"An another son would be quite welcome," Rae laughed.
Their happiness would be short-lived. Two members of the City Watch came into the room. All eyes fell on them. They were followed in by three members of the Tyrell army. They came over to Willas bowing to him. Sansa gripped Willas's good arm. She knew something was up. As the members of City Watch whispered to Robb what happened. Rae grabbed Robb's hand giving it squeeze. He turned and looked at Rae with a grim expression on his face. He whispered in Rae's ear what happened. Her face turned white and looked about ready to faint. Robb's arms keep her upright. He led her over to the chair she was sitting in not that long ago. Willas looked at Rae face then back to soldiers he knew that meant only one thing. Lady Olenna moved forward when Willas face went from happiness to grim look. He leaned heavily on his cane. Loras moved closer to his brother.
"Willas what happen," Loras asked.
Lady Olenna looked to Rae. Their eyes met. Rae's eyes had a very sad and sorry looked to them as she looked at Lady Olenna. She could see the start of tears about ready to fall down her face. Lady Olenna turned to Willas as he pulled his brother close.
"Father is dead," Willas told Loras.
Those words hung in the air. No one knew how to react to it. You could hear a pin drop in the room.
