Chapter Four: Decisions, Decisions
Elsas POV
Here we were the snuggling duckling, the place where Eugene comes and hangs out with his other troublesome friends. I'll admit I am very thankful that they have kept Eugene's double life a secret I think the both of us owe them so much for that.
Eugene's pov
God, I owe a lot to these men. Probably more than what I think I do, they could've just told on me and become the kingdom's heroes but rather, they let me into their gang with open arms. At times we do joke around that the Prince is a thief but we never really thought about the consequences of it, when I talked to Elsa it made me realized how much I was putting on the line and I can't do that so much anymore.
"Flynn," I felt someone put their arm around me. I look up and see my best friend Arnwaldo or Lance as we all call him here "What's up?"
"I just have a lot in my mind," I sighed. He stared at me for a second and then began to drag me outside
We made it outside and made me sit on a barrel that was just sitting there while he stood in front of me examining me "Alright Eugene, you've been hiding something from me. What is it?" Lance looked at me up and down
"I think I might quit the criminal life," I admitted which made Lance gasp in shock.
He grabbed another barrel placed it next to me, he sat down and whispered in my ear "Is it about the power thing?"
"And that's another issue," I whined "I'm going to leave to the future and I can't come back until all these witch trials and executions are over so I can't just go back and forth between both worlds without being caught. Elsa also deserves to be happy and I want to give her the life she deserves," I then pulled Lance close to me to the point that we could hear each other breathe "We also been wanting to start a family lately."
"Hold up I thought you hated kids," my best friend blurred out
I looked at him sarcastically "I do, but never my own because I would raise them, "
"I sure wasn't expecting that from you," he teased and I playfully rolled my eyes at him
Lance laughed and then sighed sadly "You know, I sort of wish I was like you Eugene, rich, powerful, a time traveler I could do and go wherever I want but unfortunately I have to stay here, even if I did want to leave I have duties here,"
"I understand," I hunched over my seat upset "Sometimes this kind of lifestyle overwhelms me, I have to hide who I am to everybody except for Elsa. Then there's a crazy guy who's after us, then the people, our parents, it's one problem after another. This is why I pray that once we leave all our problems will disappear, even though they won't."
"What about the proposal?"
"I was going to do it today but when I saw Elsa's eyes it hurt me. It just didn't feel right to ask her just like that. I need an elaborate plan, something that she'll remember."
"Well then, let's come up with something,"
No one's POV
It has now been three days since Eugene and Arnwaldo have talked at the bar, and their proposal plan was almost finished by now thanks to Arnwaldo's hopeless romantic ideas that even made Eugene wonder if he had a special someone or if he had read too many romance novels that Elsa let him borrow. Anyhow, everything was going according to plan the only thing getting in his way was planning to move to Los Ángeles, another reason why the handsome brunette wanted to propose to his ice queen as soon as he could, it now made him understand why his family was so pressuring on the proposal.
At the moment, Eugene was looking for Elsa around the castle, thankfully their castle wasn't as big as the one in Arendelle, thankfully he found her sitting down at the garden reading.
"Hey Snow White," Eugene greeted her with a peck on the lips "What are your plans for today?"
"Why hello to you too Prince Charming," Elsa flirted back with a smile "I'm planning to have tea with Anna in a few minutes, after that I'll be free to do whatever,"
"How about you meet me today before sunset at the gates? I have great plans for us today," Eugene smiles warmly at his Ice Queen
"What are we going to do?" Elsa smirked at him
"It's a surprise," the tall brunette teased "Don't worry it is not anything dangerous,"
Elsa laughed at his statement "I do hope not. I have to get going now," she pecked Eugene's cheek and began to walk away then looking back at him "Don't get into any trouble,"
"Don't you worry about me, I'll be alright,"
Elsa smiled and left, heading to go and meet her younger sister Anna. Fear was an understatement for how Elsa was feeling, she was afraid of how today's meet-up would end and whether her relationship would be affected after, and as much as she'd like to push those worries to the back of her mind she just couldn't help it. As she got closer to the garden she kept on repeating the same sentence over and over again.
"Anna is not going to hate you,"
Finally, Elsa had arrived at the garden, Anna already waiting for her at the small table made of glass
Hesitantly, Elsa approached Anna "Hey,"
"Hey Elsa," Anna greeted her as she took a seat "Come, I managed to find our favorite tea at the market," Elsa looked at Anna and smiled "Let me tell you about this crazy man I met today..."
As Anna narrated her story, Elsa could no keep what she wanted to say inside "Anna I have to tell you something,"
"What is it?" Anna asked starting to notice Elsa's worried expression "Are you alright? You're trembling," she reached out to hold her sister's hand but Elsa immediately pulled away knowing that her powers are starting to get out of control.
"Eugene and I have been having a few problems here which means that we're going to leave the kingdom soon, and I don't know when we'll coming back," She explained
"What do mean leaving? What's wrong, why do you have to go??" Tears began to swell up in Anna's eyes
Elsa stood up from her chair beginning to walk away "I'm sorry but I can't tell you, I will only put you in danger if I do,"
Persistent, the youngest sister stood in front of the oldest putting her hands on her shoulder "I don't care, Elsa, you're my sister and I'm willing to help you, please don't shut me out,"
"The decision has been made and there's nothing anyone can do about it not even me," Elsa removed her hands coldly and began to walk away
"So that's it? You're going to give up?" Anna's tears finally dropped from her eyes not only in sadness but in anger too"
Elsa stopped and turned to her "I'm not giving up," she objected "I'm doing what's right, for everyone even you,"
Elsa left the room, Anna rushing to catch up to her only to see Elsa shutting her door. Distraught Elsa's tears finally began to fall as she dropped to the floor the room beginning to freeze around her.
Anna only stood outside her door knowing there was no use to knock as she knew Elsa wouldn't respond. There was only one person who would explain what was going on and that was Eugene. She searched for him all over the castle until she finally found him in the main room of the castle discussing with a guard.
"Eugene!" Anna called out for him as the guard dismissed himself from the room "What is this about you and Elsa leaving?"
"Look Anna, things, unfortunately, aren't going well and we have no choice but to leave," Eugene told Anna "It wasn't an easy decision to make trust me, we l, ook through all the options, I even told Elsa that if she wanted to stay we could but it's for the best if we go"
"What about-"
"Our parents?" He interrupted knowing what she was going to say "They were the ones who told us about this,"
Anna couldn't believe what he said "And you two are just going to do what they say?"
"For the safety of our kingdoms and family yes we will,"
"So what is exactly going on that you've all hidden from me?" Anna questioned starting to get frustrated
"I can't tell you and no matter who you try to ask they won't budge either for the same reason" Eugene defended beginning to walk away "I'm sorry Anna but it's for the best,"
Anna had enough of the lies and secrets. She decided to go to her parents' room, her last option.
"What's going on with Eugene and Elsa that nobody wants to tell me about?"
Iduna looked at her daughter with worry "She told you didn't she?"
"She did," Anna confirmed for her "I get that people don't want to tell me for my safety but I'm not a little girl anymore, I can help with whatever is going on"
"Listen, Anna," Agnarr lifted her chin "What's happening is something that could put our kingdoms at risk, it could even cost not only the people's lives but ours too, there will be a day where you will finally be able to know everything, but not now. I promise you that everything will make sense someday."
Authors note!
Well, look who finally uploaded something!!! I'm sorry if this book is such a slow burn I've been busy with life and I've barely had time to write anything but hopefully, with Christmas break, I can finally get a few chapters uploaded since I've been working hard behind the scenes for years now and don't want this story to go to waste. I will try to get another chapter out in a week or so from now, so wish me luck!!
