I own nothing
I'm sorry for the lack of updates. I do plan to finish this story by the end of this year. I was trying to get the final pieces all mapped out in my head. I have some major parts still to come, in this story. And I do plan an epilogue for this story. Something will show some of the characters years later, where the children are the ages that their parents were at the start of the story.
Maester Aemon had started to take a turn for the worst. He was now bedridden. Sam looked on him. He was worried about him. There was no word from Jon. And with Allister Thorne in charge, he made Sam's life miserable. Gilly was in the room with Aemon with little Sam.
"There he is," Aemon said touching little Sam.
Little Sam let out a baby giggle. Gilly smiled at that as she sat near Aemon so Aemon could touch Little Sam. Sam was in the room near the door.
"That laugh, Egg, Egg laughed like that. One of the first things I remember," Aemon remembered.
Gilly looked over to Sam confused. Sam moved closer to them.
"His little brother was Aegon. He became king," Sam explained.
"And before that, He was a jolly fellow like this one. Get him south Gillyflower before it's too late," Aemon told her with a foreboding sense of dread.
Rae sat in the Twins where the wedding of Loras and Renei was to take place. The weather had started to turn colder. She was dressed in rich purple and grey more northern style gown. It had v-neckline, at the point of the v-neckline there was direwolf brooch. Her hands went to her expanding belly where their child rest. There was something that seemed off to Rae but she smiled through it. Robb came to sit next to her as the wedding prayers were started. Robb took her hand kiss the top of it. As Loras made his way to the Septon Riler of the Twins. Robb was dress like he was on Edmure marriage. On the other side of Rae was Daenerys. She was dress in southern style dark red gown with dragon scales. She had a stoic look on her face. Behind them was Catelyn and Ned and Arya who looked like she wanted to be anywhere else but there. Rae looked across the way to Lord of Riverland that came to Loras marriage. She caught the eyes of Lady Renei maid Giya. She had tears in her eyes. She looked at Loras with a look of hatred. Septon Riler motion for them to stand. They all stood up. Rae and Giya's eyes met across the way. So, this was Lady Renei's lover. As Renei walked forward on the arm of her brother, William. William presented her to Loras. Renei gave him a little smile under her veil. She was dress in an ivory gown with golden roses on it. Her family cloak around her shoulder.
"You may now cloak the bride and bring her under your protection." Septon Riler said.
Loras removed the cloak from her shoulder's placing his new sigil cloak over her shoulder. He took the Frey sigil and combine it with Tyrell's golden rose. They joined hands as the congregation sat down. Septon Riler tied their joined hands together.
"Let it be known that Lady Renei of House Mooton and Loras of House Tyrell are one heart, one flesh, one soul. Cursed be he who would seek to tear them asunder." Septon Riler announced. Rae looked over to Giya again that a was announced. Tears were cascading down her face. "In the sight of the Seven, I hereby seal these two souls, binding them as one for eternity. Look upon each other and say the words " Septon Riler told them.
Robb and Rae looked at each other. He brought their join hands to his lips. Kissing her knuckles.
"Father, Smith, Warrior, Mother, Maiden, Crone, Stranger…" Renei and Loras repeated simultaneously.
"I am hers and she is mine. From this day, until the end of my days," Loras said as Renei repeated "I am his and he is mine. From this day, until the end of my days".
"With this kiss, I pledge my love" Loras announced then lifted Renei veil to kiss her.
Everyone started to clap. They turned and faced the crowd. They looked toward Robb and Rae bowing slightly. A smile on both of their faces. Loras found a woman that reminded him of late love Renly. And Renei was free from her cowardly brother and she would still have Giya at the Twins. She knew she had to do her duty to give him a son. She prayed silently to all or any of the gods that it would be on the first pregnancy.
"My King, my Queen, and my lords, my ladies, we stand here in the sight of gods and men to witness the union of man and wife. One flesh, one heart, one soul, now and forever" Septon Riler announced.
Sansa and Willas and the rest of the Tyrell party arrived at High Garden. Sansa's eyes went wide as she disembarked from the wheelhouse. The trees were a wide array of colors showing the changing of the seasons was coming. Willas made his way over to his brother Garlan and his mother Alerie Tyrell was dressed in black. Her hair was long sliver color from age. Her face had wrinkles that showed her age. She met her son with a bow of her head. He pulled into a tight hug giving her comfort. Olenna stopped by Sansa. She was still dressed in her mourning clothes.
"No matter how much you stare it will not change Lady Sansa," Olenna said.
"I know that Lady Olenna, I just never seen anything like it," Sansa said.
"Yes, I forgot you grew up in that frozen wasteland of the North," Olenna commented.
"Mother," Alerie greeted.
"I don't remember birthing you, I'm only responsible for your late husband," Olenna replied.
Willas came back over to Sansa. Her hand sank into the fur of Winter. Winter looked up at her mistress. Garlan and Alerie moved over to Sansa. Olenna made her back into High Garden. Alerie gave her new good daughter a reassuring smile. Garlan had the same playful grin on his face that Willas had at times.
"My love, allow me to introduce my brother Garlan Tyrell," Willas introduced.
Garlan came forward kissing the top of her hand. He bowed moving back by his mother as Winter looked at him with her predator's eyes. Willas looked down at the wolf. He could tell by her posture that she was unsure of him.
"A pleasure to meet the woman that captured my brother's attention from his dogs, horses, and birds. My wife Leonette would love to be here but she is heavy with child," Garlan told Sansa
"Congratulation, you never wrote of that," Willas commented.
"You have enough to worry about with…" Garlan trailed off.
"Boys, I'm sure she is tired from her journey. I'm Lady Alerie Sansa you can call me mother if you like. Is this your direwolf," Lady Alerie came forward taking Sansa arm. Sansa and Alerie started to walk toward the keep. Winter kept pace with them. Sansa nodded to Lady Alerie. The truth was with her growing baby in her belly it made her more tried than she normally would be. "My son tells me you are with child," Lady Alerie said.
"I'm am Lady Alerie I hope to give Willas a son," Sansa told her.
"I'm sure you will child," Lady Alerie commented. Lady Alerie looked down to Winter. "What is her name," Lady Alerie said.
"Winter," Sansa replied.
"You will always have a reminder family with you," Lady Alerie replied.
Later, that night at the Twins. The wedding feast was in full swing. Rae was sat at a high table. She was watching the party. Her hand rubbing her swollen belly. She watched as Arya and Robb laughed at something that Arya had said. It was nice to him free of the game that seemed to at foot. She like this carefree side of him. Nymeria and Smalljon were dancing near Jaime and Evalyne. Catelyn and Ned sat talking on one of the side tables near Lord Karstark and Lord Manderly. Starlight and Greywind were by Rae's feet. Standing guard by her was Ser Barristan Selmy. Rae took a drink of her wine. Her eyes traveled to the other side of the room where Giya and Renei were flirting. It looked like Renei was comforting her lover. At that point, her eyes traveled to where Renly was at. She noted that Daeny was standing near Ser Jorah and Prince Oberyn. The only reason he was there was to give his daughter away when they reached Last Hearth. Prince Oberyn left them to their conversation to talk to Lady Valaena who seemed to easily become close with the queen. His eyes met Rae. He raised a goblet of wine to her. She returned the gesture. her eyes were looking for Loras. She found him with a handsome guard. She motioned for one of the maids. She mousey brown hair and brown eyes and slim built. She made her way over to Rae in haste.
"Your Grace," the maid said.
"Tell me what is your name," Rae said.
"Marilla, your grace," Marilla answered.
Rae's eyes met Marilla's eyes. She gave the maid a smile. Her eyes traveled back to Loars and guard. Rae allowed Marilla to fill her goblet again. It seemed to any the looked at them that she was just being polite but there was so much more to the conversation.
"Tell me Marilla, do you know who Lord Loras is speaking with," Rae asked.
"I believe that is Ser Blane he is now guard of twins, but he was a farmer third son," Marilla answered.
"How do you know this," Rae asked.
"We were childhood friend your grace," Marilla replied.
"Thank you, Marilla," Rae said.
"Your Grace," Marilla said leaving Rae.
Greatjon came up to the high table taking a seat next to Rae. She smiled over at her uncle. They both took a drink of the wine that was on the table.
"This is nothing like northern wine," Greatjon commented.
"I cannot wait to try it," Rae said.
"I cannot wait for you see Last Hearth," Greatjon said.
Rae just gave her uncle a real smile. It reminded him of his sister. She reached for a plate of cured meat. Greatjon started to laugh. Rae returned his laugh.
"There is no doubt that this time you are carrying a northern child," Greatjon joked.
"Uncle," Rae laughed both of her hand cradling her belly.
"Your time will come, no doubt, when you are in the north," Greatjon commented.
"It will be fitting," Rae said with some reverence.
"Yes, it will. Do you and his grace have names in mind," Greatjon asked?
"If it a boy we were thinking Jaehaerys and if it is a girl Alysanne," Rae told him.
"Targaryen names. I thought you would stick to northern names," Greatjon commented.
"As it stands I'm the only one that can have children. The Targaryen names will die out with me if I don't name them with Targaryen names. Ned was the one that suggested we use some Targaryen names. And Robb tells me that Alysanne is used in the North.
"It is but what about your nephew and Daenerys," Greatjon asked.
"Jon may never have children. And if he does he was raised in the North. I feel that he would give his children names he grew up with. Daeny claims that Drogon, Viserion, and Rhaegal are the only children that she will ever have. Something with a witch told her about the Sun setting in the west and rising in the East or something like that," Rae explained.
" Time for the bedding," one of the Lords called out drunkenly.
The couple was taken to Lord Chambers by the opposite genders removing their clothes as they went. Rae felt a sharp kick to her ribs. Causing her to gasp, Robb turned made his way over to them. He had a concerned look on his face.
"Are you alright sweetheart," Robb asked.
"I'm fine my king our pup just decided that my ribs need to be kicked," Rae told him.
Greatjon help Rae to her feet when she made the move to get up. He helped her around the table to Robb's side. Robb placed his hand on her belly where their pup was kicking. She smiled up at him. He leaned down kissing her. The off feeling, she felt earlier had not gone away if anything it has gotten worst. She knew it was labor, it was something else. But it would e when they were in the North. Part of her wanted the child to be born at Winterfell. They pulled apart looking lovingly at each other.
"I'm going to retire for the evening my love," Rae told him.
"Do you want me," Robb started.
"Stay be merry. I just tried. It is a long journey for me when I'm heavy with child," Rae said.
"I will see her to your chambers Your Grace," Ser Barristan said.
"Thank you, Ser Barristan," Robb said as his ever-watchful eyes watched Rae left followed Lady Val.
Valaena helped undress. Then help her dress in her nightdress and robe. The fire dragon eggs were by the fireplace. The ice dragon egg was by her trunk. Starlight followed her, along with her mate, Greywind up to the chamber. Rae's hair was down as she looked out on the night sky. Valaena was turning down the bed. Rae had a goblet of wine in her hand as she watched Selaera and Drogon dance in the night sky. Rhaenys and Rhaegal behind them. Visenya stayed closer to the keep not drifting far like her siblings were. Viserion followed Drogon and Rhaegal. Rae looked over her shoulder at Val.
"You can go, Val," Rae said.
"If you are sure Your Grace," Val said unsurely.
"Go, I'm just going to go to bed after I check on Torrhen, Lyanna, and Lilliyan," Rae said.
Valaena left the room heading back down to feast. She could tell there was something up with Rae. But she did not know what. Rae tied the robe more tightly around her middle. Heading to the chamber right next to their where her children we at. She was greeted by Syvina They smiled at Rae. Lilliyan, Lyanna was dead to the world. Torrhen was in the arms of Eyme. He was fighting sleep again. Rae walked over, taking him out of Eyme arms. He cuddled happily in his mother's chest. His little fist found a lock of her hair. She softly started to hum a tune her she remembered from her childhood.
Suddenly, she was at the Wall. In the center of the courtyard of it. She looked around in shock. She looked up to the sky as the sound of dragons drew her attention. There were two dragons she never saw before. One looked like Drogon but was more red than black. The other was Grey and red. The grey one went off beyond the Wall out of her view, to the land of always winter. Then the red one just vanished.
"Your Grace," Eyme and Syvina cried worriedly.
Rae shakes her head. Suddenly she knew what the off feeling was. Tears started to fill her eyes. She looked down at her sleeping son. She handed him to Eyme.
Gilly and Sam were in Maester Aemon's chamber. Gilly was by his bedside. He was near death's door. Little Sam was in a cradle by the bed. Sam was Measter Aemon bed on the opposite side that Gilly was. The room was light by candlelight.
"Egg…Egg Mother's looking for you, Egg" Aemon called in his unwell state.
"Get some sleep, Sam. You'll have to speak for him tomorrow," Gilly told Sam.
"You don't know that," Sam said.
"Get some sleep. I'll watch over him," Gilly urged.
"I'm staying too. He's always been good to me. I can't leave him now," Sam told her.
"Egg!" Aemon cried his hand reaching for someone. Sam caught his hand in his. Holding it tightly. "Egg I dreamed that I was old," Aemon finished.
Rae made it back to Robb's and her shared chambers before she collapsed in tears. Greywind and Starlight made their way over to her trying to comfort her. She felt it, his passing. She heard the roars of dragons as they felt her pain. Robb found her in this state as Daeny tried to comfort the dragons.
"Sweetheart, what has happened," Robb asked
"He is gone," Rae cried falling into Robb's strong embrace.
"Who is gone," Robb asked.
"Maester Aemon," Rae sobbed.
The next morning all the men at Castle Black assembled for the funeral for Maester Aemon Targaryen. His body was laid out on a funeral pyre. Sam stepped forward.
"His name was Aemon Targaryen. He came to us from King's Landing. A Maester of the Citadel. Chained and sworn, and a sworn brother of the Night's Watch ever faithful. On man was wiser, a dozen Lord Commanders came and went during his years of service, but he was always there to counsel them. He was the blood of the dragon, but now his fire has gone out. And now his watch is ended," Sam said.
"And now his watch is ended," they all echoed.
As four men came forward lighting the pyre on all four corners. They stood and watch the fire burn. Allister Thorne leaned down as he was closest to Sam.
"You're losing all your friends, Tarly," Allister said as he left.
Let me know what you think. I hope you like it. I have things planned for the coming chapter. What do you think Allister Thorne's reaction to Rae is going to be.
