"The rest of the airborne will keep the airfield open for us to all get out, they've also got plenty of explosives to blow this place sky high if need be.", Bucky reminded. "Hopefully this place is isolated enough from any major garrisons, it might be a day or so before any truly major reinforcements can be brought to bear on us.".
"And if not, we'll crush it all the same but we're certainly going to get out of here fast and make it right back to safe lines in Italy.", Peggy said as she was ready to tear this place apart to get to Susan.
The men heard the tone in her voice, and with silent looks of agreement, they kept going for a mile before Bucky nodded, "Coming up close in 2 minutes, guys. Ready to knock on the door?", and Steve looked at Peggy who nodded, and once they are seeing the gates, they grew up to their giant sizes, roaring and shouting as they destroyed the gates, the watchtowers.
Bucky glanced at Stark, "You take the wheel, I'll do what I do best.", grabbing Stark from the sidecar, to sit behind him, and with a leap, he turned into his giant canine form, killing every German on sight with fangs or claws or force of his weight and size, with Stark getting through the ruins of the gates, safe as the trio literally decimated the front door.
Peggy shrunk down, panting, "Where now, Bucky?", and Bucky sniffed the air before running into another direction, and she called up to Steve, "Buck's on the scent!", and with a final sweep of the front door, Steve shrunk down to follow and run after Bucky and Stark as he rode on the motorcycle, heading into the garage levels where there's more Germans waiting and patrolling.
Meanwhile, far deep underground, one of the officers called out with the phone in his hand, "Sir, Super Alert 1! They're here!", and Schimdt grinned, "Ah, the sentimentality of family. Well, no longer. Boys, turn the power on!".
Outside, the fighting continued as Stark had to duck down from a squad of Waffen SS armed with Sturmgewehr 44 assault rifles, "Someone got to remind me to make our own version of those assault rifles! I hate they beat us to making those!".
"I'll keep that in mind!", Bucky shouted back as he ripped out the MG-42 that was in the motorcycle and used it against the infantry, mowing them down fast.
Steve ripped doors out of trucks, throwing them like frisbees at any Germans' necks and such as Peggy threw fireballs and fire swords at the further Germans down, and as they breathed for a moment, they doubled over, far more painful than the first time they experienced it back at the bridgehead.
Bucky shouted, "Guys?!", and Peggy looked at Bucky and Stark, "Something's hurting my daughter!", and Steve snarled, "And she's far down below! Let's go!", nodding at Bucky who shifted back to canine form, sniffing before howling, and they all ran with Stark riding on, all the way to the stairs.
"Grab on, everybody! We're going down!", Stark shouted as he rammed the motorcycle through the stair's door, with Bucky diving into the sidecar, with Steve behind Stark, and the motorcycle dropped through the continuous hole of the stairways, with Peggy flaming on, flying and diving down behind them.
"Crazy idea of yours, Howard!", Steve shouted, and Stark replied, "Yep, but it's faster to use gravity than using the elevator or the stairs themselves!".
"Let's just hope this doesn't get you killed...", Steve said. "Don't you mean all, oh, right...", Stark rolled his eyes, somewhat cursing at being so vulnerable compared to the trio.
Peggy snorted, and Bucky called out, "End approaching!", and Peggy flew closer, grabbing Howard by the cuff of his shirt as Steve tensed, with Bucky ready to pounce, and with a crash, Steve tumbled into a roll as Bucky leaped out seconds before the crash, landing with no problem, with Steve getting up from his tumble-roll, and Peggy lowering Howard flawlessly to the ground besides the pieces of the motorcycle, flaming down.
"Thanks.", Stark spoke, and Peggy smirked, "Don't worry, your secret's safe with me.", and Bucky whuffed with a snicker as Steve realized that Howard was the 'damsel in distress', with a chuckle.
Bucky then barked, pointing down a hallway with a paw, and Peggy narrowed her eyes, "Let's go!", running as Bucky ran, with Steve picking up Stark in a piggyback ride, "You're lucky with me otherwise I would be mad if you did this with Peggy.", as he went into a run.
"Oh, trust me, I'd hate to get on the bad side of Carter, man. And besides, my life is better than my ego this one time.", Stark commented smartly as he hung on, with the trio running faster than before, with Peggy and Steve feeling so much fear, terror, pain of their daughter within their cores.
"Come on, Steve, hurry!", Peggy cried out as she could practically feel all the pain and fear that Susan was going through further ahead. "I'm trying, I'm trying!", Steve shouted.
Bucky can hear his niece's faint screams and cries, and snarled as he turned up the speed, and baying out a howl deep and loud as he crashed-destroyed the doors and widened his eyes to see a glowing blue door, with sparks and jolts before hearing a voice, a new voice yet familiar at the same time, "Un'le Bu'ky!".
He whipped his head over to see a container, seeing only black with a shadow in it, glowing green as Peggy and Steve came behind him, and the voice came again, "Muma, Dada!", crying out in pain as gunshots sounded out, with people shooting at the trio, with Steve ducking to cover Howard.
Peggy wanted to hear her daughter say her first words in a better time, not like this, and shouted to Bucky, "Get her out!", as she flamed on, flying up to kill the Germans, searching for Schimdt, and Bucky nodded, running as he dived, dodged, ducked, and zig-zagged, making it to the container. "Un'le Bu'ky!".
"Hey, Susie... I'm here!", Bucky shouted at her as he was trying to figure out how to get her out. "Un'le Bu'ky will get you out of there in no time, just hang on!".
Steve looked over the boxes, and looked around before he found the controls, and looked back, "Okay, I found the controls. You have to stop this, Howard, alright?", and Stark nodded, "Sure, just point me where-", before yelping out of surprise as Steve picked him up by the cuff of his shirt, ran up the boxes, and jumped across the room, landing besides the controls, "-Or that works too.", Stark finishes before shaking out of his surprise, and stepped on to look at the controls as Steve leaped over, growing up somewhat while grabbing a steel plate, clobbering and kicking and slicing.
Stark shouted over the noise, "It's in German! I can't read German!", as Bucky scrambled furiously, using his wolf claws to slash at the door, hearing the cries increasing in tempo, "Hurts!".
"Just give me a second, Stark!", Peggy called out as she wiped out another squad of SS that were trying to stop them. "Better hurry! I don't know what's going on in here, but it can't be good!", Stark shouted back at her.
Bucky heard Susan screaming, "Muma, Dada!", and Bucky spat, "No time to speculate, Stark! Start pushing buttons, anything! We don't have time, Peggy! Susie's really scared!", as he kept slashing at the door before his claw got caught into something, and he looked closer, realizing that it was a keyhole, and he pursued his lips as he pressed his wolf ears to the door, listening carefully as he moved his claw.
Steve and Peggy kept busy as somehow, there's more Germans coming out of doors everywhere as Stark heard the command in Bucky's voice, and went to try anything he could press, push, turn.
Bucky grew frustrated as he kept working the keyhole, and howled out, "QUIET!", and the sound froze everyone, staring at Bucky as he listened to the links behind the keyhole, and then grinned as the keyhole clicked open, freeing the door.
Everybody went back to fighting as Bucky went into the container, seeing Susan's body glowing green, stuck to the back wall like glue, and she cried out happily, "Un'le Bu'ky!", before she screamed out in pain. Bucky immediately grabbed her around the waist, "Hold on, Susie!", pulling her from the wall that had suction holes, linking to the connection hoses to the glowing door.
With a hard grunt, Bucky freed her, holding her to his chest as he got out of the container before shouting in surprise as he was starting to run to the front door, looking back as the glowing door is still on, but now sucking everything in, and he scrambled to grab into a pole, a pillar, holding on as the suction is getting powerful.
"Stark! What the hell is happening!?", Steve shouted as he was trying to make his way to reach Bucky and Susan.
"Reverse suction! I must have pressed something or whatever! Now it's pulling anything in! I'm trying to look for the button to shut it off!", Stark shouted, and Peggy screamed as she hung on to a railing, "Hurry! The suction's getting powerful!", seeing pieces of guns, laboratory stuff, even chairs going through the glowing door.
Bucky gritted his teeth as he hung on to the pillar, holding Susan to his chest, hiding her from the suction, and she then heard a familiar, cold chuckle, and she looked up, shouted in fear and shock, and Bucky looked up to see Schimdt's red skull face in a cruel, glinting grin.
"If I can't have a champion, then I will see to the loss of at least two of the champions of the Allied side.", Schimdt spat before he kicked at Bucky's head real hard, thanks to the mangled Super Soldier Serum he has, and Bucky yelled as he let go in surprise and pain, the suction taking Bucky and Susan.
Susan looked at Steve as she cried out, "Susu love Muma a'd Dada!", as Stark didn't see it happening when he shouted in triumph for that he found the console cords, and ripped them out, and at the same time, Susan and Bucky was already through the glowing door, and then all of a sudden, the glowing door dimmed, sparked, and then became a huge explosion.
Everything was just so quick for all involved, especially with the explosion. Just the whirlwind of emotions and the realizations... after a few moments, things calmed down once more. And both parents were completely stunned and devastated.
Stark, having ducked behind the controls for protection from the explosion, looked over, blinking in shock, shame and guilt hitting him as he realized that Bucky and Susan were gone, watching Steve and Peggy walk slowly to the destroyed door, dropping to their knees as Steve noticed something hiding under metal, and removed the metal to reveal the half-scorched wolf stuffy that was inside Bucky's jacket, and Peggy sobbed, screamed out loud as Steve gathered her in his arms, crying and such, hugging the wolf stuffy between them.
Stark tried to put the cords back in, but nothing happened...He panted, "Crap, crap!", hitting his fist on the console, and heard a sound, and saw Schimdt limping and crawling to the front door, and he narrowed his eyes, grabbing a blaster gun, and shot it at him, blowing Schimdt into a pillar with a crash, throwing the blaster gun away as he stomped his way to Schimdt who is laughing crazily and smirking deviously.
Not even letting the scary look of that red skull faze him at all, Stark shouted, "What was that glowing door?! Where did it lead to?!", spittle flying everywhere. Schimdt looked at him leerily, "A portal, dear doctor. It was supposed to give me a champion before you ruined it all...It was leading to a world where legendary monsters exist...An entirely different Earth than ours. If they survived the journey, there's no way you can find them...All the same, if they're dead, well, better off for me.", with a smirk.
"I don't think so...", Stark found a Luger pistol that was on the floor and picked it up before aiming at Schimdt's head. The man was already dead as Peggy and Steve would certainly turn their rage towards him. He cocked the gun before he aimed.
"Like you have the guts, Stark, you wouldn't dare pull that tr-", Schidmt began to sneer.
He did.
Stark exhaled sharply as he lowered the smoking Luger pistol, and snarked, "And I'll find them no matter how long it takes me. Not for me, but for my friends. You broke up a family, and that's the worst crime of all.", staring at the blank face of Schimdt as he threw away the gun, and then sighed heavily as he looked over to the grieving couple...
He looked up, realizing that the explosion was bigger than he thought, having destroyed the higher levels of the underground section of the fort yet the fort was sturdier than he thought as he didn't hear anything falling or crumbling, but he's still wary as the fort wouldn't hold up too long from the missing support of the underground foundations.
He walked, his heart pained from hearing Peggy's sobs and Steve's cries as he got closer, and laid a hand on Steve's shoulder, "I'm sorry, but we should go before the fort breaks down...", glancing at the destroyed portal. He would ask them to take the portal, but he didn't want to ask yet he needs it...He is the smartest genius of the world for god's sake! He can fix it somehow...
"Stark...", Steve sighed as he nodded; tears still coming out. He understood they couldn't stay... but... the pain was almost just too much. He just wanted to be buried alive with Peggy, not wanting to even keep going now that he just lost so much so fast. Erskine, Bucky, Susan...
Stark looked at him, "Look, you heard the gunshot a minute ago, right?", and Steve nodded. "That was Schimdt's death, but before that, I interrogated him. He said that it was a portal to a different Earth...I am sure they're alive somewhere on that world. After all, Bucky and Susan got Quantonium and the Serum. But we gotta go before the whole thing collapses, and I can recover the portal and Schimdt's notes after we clean up the mess...I can bring them back, Steve. I know I can...NO way they're dead. Bucky's far too stubborn, and Susan, she got both of you in her. You have to keep going for them. You're not alone, you got Peggy, me, and Phillips.", with a firm nod with sure-fire determination in his eyes.
"Will it work again?", Peggy asked shakily with wet eyes as Stark nodded. "Look, I got the Thunderbolt to fly, all I need is most of the notes and I should quickly have something. It'll only probably take me a few months to get something like this place all together.", Stark told her. "But right now, we still need to leave...".
Peggy hugged the wolf stuffy, and glanced at the dead portal, and Steve squeezed her shoulder, "We will get them back somehow, my queen, but you heard Stark, and he's really serious. We gotta go.".
Peggy nodded with a sob as she was helped up by Steve, and the trio ran, with Peggy managing to flame on, and picked up Steve and Stark, heading up and out as Steve glanced at the dead portal, and whispered to himself, "One day at a time.", squeezing the wolf stuffy that Peggy passed over to him, remembering Susan's last words, bittersweet to know that he's now Dada to her yet she told him and Peggy that she loves them...
-Somewhere, in Earth-2, in the future, in the year of 1984-
Due to the force of the portal and the traveling pressure, Susan and Bucky is somehow repressed down to their normal human sizes, with Susan being a 13-month-old baby, with their Quantonium and Super Soldier Serum locked deep in their cores, with Susan's powers mostly locked, and Bucky's powers slightly locked, and they both have amnesia with only bare memories of who they are and why they are related to each other, their eidetic memory ability being random.
Covered in bruises, gore, dirt from everything from the whole chaos in the lab, Bucky laid in a forest, unconscious, deep in a coma with Susan on his chest, waking up, shuffling as she looked around in confusion, fear, and looked up to see Bucky, barely recognizing him as her uncle, vaguely remembering that he was running from someone...her mama? No, not her mama or dada, but a monster in red, protecting her...The red monster was hurting her...her uncle Buc, no, Buck, no, Bucky, he was saving her...then something happened...she got dizzy and scared...
Susan began to cry like the baby she was before as it was all that she really could do. She was cold, scared, hungry, and the only person she vaguely knew was not really responding to her cries.
Somewhere not far off, Wendy and Carl Murphy are hiking with their 2-year-old daughter, Tara, intending to show her the wonders of the forest.
It was three days since the dreams of Bucky and T in his world, and being born into this world, with somehow sensing that T was the letter for her first name, Wendy and Carl named her Tara Alyssia Murphy, and in this world, the three days was actually three years, with time and such being different.
