Chapter 5: What now?

"Elsa it's me. Are you alright?" Eugene called out for Elsa "Please open up it's me," He began to notice how there was no response "Elsa?" But there was still no response

In a panic, he turned the doorknob only for it to be jammed which making him panic more with all his force he somehow manage to open the doorknob. Throwing the door open there he saw the love of his life, silently sobbing at the same time noticing her bedroom frozen with ice while snowflakes hang in the air. Eugene approached her at the same time trying to heat the room although it wasn't that easy since he was weak when it came to ice-cold temperatures.

"I knew how this was going to end, " Sobbed Elsa "But it still hurts,"

"I know, she came up to me too and I felt bad turning her down like that," Eugene admitted "But trust me, this will all payout someday,"

Eugene hugged Elsa in pain, finally hitting him about how much they were going to lose once they left and never knowing when they were going to return. As for Anna, she was still upset but refused to accept the news without knowing why she decided to meet up with her boyfriend Kristoff near the fiord where he was sitting on his sled with his reindeer partner Sven was eating carrots.

"Hey," Kristoff greeted Anna immediately noticing the upset expression on her face, "What's wrong?"

"Elsa and Eugene are leaving the kingdom to who knows where and who knows why," Anna went straight to the point "And nobody wants to tell me because of something about putting me in danger,"

Kristoff's eyes opened wide "Leaving? When?"

"Soon," she responded "I just can't believe they're going to leave just like that without even trying to fight,"

"What if is dangerous?" Kristoff asked her "Look Anna I get that you're not afraid of anything and you're willing to do anything to help Elsa but what if this is something that could hurt you. You of all people would know that Elsa wouldn't hide anything from you and if your parents don't want to say anything either then it's probably for the best not to know until the right time,"

Anna just sighed "I just want to help,"

"You will someday but right now it isn't the best time." Kristoff comforted her at recalling the events that happened not so long ago.

It was almost around a year ago when Kristoff discovered many things that he sure wasn't supposed to know, his home was a bit unusual per se, he was an orphan for as long as he could remember so he would always stay in wherever place the road led him to, it wasn't until he was eight years old that he was coming back from another shift from Arendelle's local ice business where he encountered the rock trolls and took him and Sven in as if they were one of their own. Of course, because of all this Kristoff learned a thing or two about magic, it wasn't something that he was truly invested in but Granpabby told him that it was always good to know in case of an emergency but never once did he think that his future in-laws were somehow part of it.

How did Kristoff find out in the first place? Well, it was just another day when he was heading back home after going out for a few days to collect ice for his business and wasn't supposed to come till a few days later but he had somehow managed to finish earlier since most of the ice wasn't as frozen as he wanted it to be. When Kristoff along with Sven had finally arrived they noticed that Granpabby along with the other trolls were having a meeting, at first they thought it was just one of those meetings they had every once in a while to discuss new spells and ideas but he then recognized two voices that seemed unusual for them to be there.

"...our powers seem to be getting stronger," he heard a feminine voice that he immediately identified as Elsa's "Hiding them is becoming more difficult by the day"

"No, it couldn't possibly be them," Kristoff thought as he and Sven leaned in

But it sure was them.

"Magic is very mysterious" Granpabby spoke "You never know if it's going to burst out of your hands or disappear out of the blue. I understand your concerns but you have to give it time and at the same time practice."

Kristoff not wanting to know more he tried to turn back and leave but tripped over Sven making him fall, catching everybody's attention.

Elsa gasped when she realized who it was "Kristoff?" she said in shock "What are you doing here?"

"I live here," Kristoff confessed

The couple's eyes went wide, Eugene turned to Granpabby and whispered "He does?" Once receiving a nod Eugene panicked even more

Kristoff picked himself up from the ground "The real question is what are you two doing here? I thought you two weren't allowed outside of the castle, is there something going on?"

So they had no choice but to tell him the truth, it was a risk but they knew that Kristoff was a man of his word. It would also be easier to keep in communication with Granpabby now that he knew.

"As crazy as this situation may seem it all makes sense now, the isolation, all the security around the castle, your marriage. Does Anna know?"

"My parents thought it was best not to tell her until it was the right time," Elsa told him, but then sighed "Considering how many years it has been I'm sure that day isn't coming anytime soon"

"What about that guy who's coming after you?"

"We haven't seen him in years but we've seen his army of horses surrounding the kingdoms looking after us for the perfect moment to strike, thankfully we have enough control of our powers to fight him,"

Eugene added disappointment "The hard part is making sure no one in the kingdoms including our neighbors doesn't find out, they've been trying to keep magic forbidden or for themselves for centuries, just imagine what would happen if they find out that the heirs to the throne of the most powerful kingdoms are powered born beings"

"It would be a riot, especially those who are magic hungry to be better than others, and don't get me started with the neighboring kingdoms" Kristoff concluded "Trust me they've been searching everywhere to find this place, but thankfully it's well hidden enough for only magic itself to go through, and myself obviously,"

"You must promise us that Anna or anyone will never know about this," Elsa practically begged "At least until we can figure something out,"

"I promise,"

End of flashback

"Promise...who knew such secret like this was going to lead to all of this," Kristoff thought

"Kristoff?" Anna called out for him, as he looked down at her sad eyes "Thank you for always being there for me,"

All he could do was hug her even harder, as a way to support her but also to secretly apologize for what he was hiding.

The next day the three of them had decided to meet up in secret at the trolls' hideout.

"You are leaving huh?" Kristoff sighed

"We have to," Elsa looked down at her ungloved hands "As much as we would want to we know that's not possible at least for a few years,"

Granpabby sighed "It's unbelievable how people are so willing to fear what they don't know and those that know are willing to take advantage, you can never have a middle person, unfortunately,"

"Dad always feared that this would happen," Said Eugene as he wrapped his arm around Elsa allowing her to rest on his shoulder "It became the reason why he prevented magic from entering Corona" he then laughed "Well... at least not all of it,"

"I'm still quite unsure how our parents will explain our sudden disappearance," the platinum blonde thought

"Don't you worry about that," Assured Granpabby "I'm sure your parents will drop by here any moment from now on," the old trolls eyes widened at his statement "Which is why you must go, we wouldn't want them to find you here,"

And so they all left. Kristoff left with Sven as he had an extra shift to attend at his ice business, this left Eugene and Elsa going home by themselves. Despite the situation they were in at the moment, both of them were surprisingly happy because inside they knew everything was going to be alright.

"Are you free tonight?" the older the brunette asked his girlfriend "I was hoping we could spend some time together, you know, by ourselves," he blushed at the thought of being alone

She giggled at his shyness "I'm free, are you going to tell me where we're going or..." but was interrupted with the answer she was expecting

"It's a surprise, don't worry you'll love it"

Later...

It was now the late evening, Elsa was waiting at the back of her castle admiring the view upon her, the sun was setting down giving the ocean a beautiful orange purple-like color. It was somewhat cold outside probably windier than she used to, not that it bothered anyway. She soon heard a door open behind her, she didn't bother turning around as she knew who it was.

"You're late," Elsa said as she turned around "And look like you ran a thousand miles,"

Eugene was crouching trying to catch his breath "I did, I was running some errands," He then stood up once his heart calmed down a little "Shall we ride our boat."

The Snow Queen's eyes widened in confusion, she had been so distracted by the landscape that she never noticed there was a boat right in front of her. Eugene snickered at her realization and helped her get in, soon, they headed to their destination.

As they arrived, Elsa saw how Eugene had prepared a sort of picnic set up for her, "I love it"

"I knew you would."

Eugene extends his hand to her and immediately connecting their hands feeling their opposite body temperatures.

Hours passed by what felt like forever to them, a good kind of forever. They talked, laughed, and even shared some kisses from time to time. Everything was perfect.

"You know, Lance helped me set this all up," Eugene admitted shyly "Well more like he volunteered himself to help,"

Elsa laughed "The gingham blanket is a giveaway," she then looked once again at the amazing view of the ocean "It sure is beautiful out here,"

"It is." Eugene agreed

"I hope this isn't the last time I ever get to see it," Elsa said

"Don't worry, I promise you it won't be," Eugene told her receiving a beautiful smile from her, although you can tell there was a slight sadness in her eyes "I have to tell you something,"

"We have known each other ever since we were babies. Life with you is amazing, whenever I'm with you I feel so many emotions that I can't describe. I know this was planned by our parents and at times it may seem as our feelings only came out of duty but I just wanted to let you know it isn't true, I love you and I want to spend eternity with you..." he then reached out to his pocket to pull out a tiny box

Elsa remained frozen in her place watching every single one of his movements. Eugene opened the box to reveal a beautiful ring, it was exactly the one she would talk about to Anna when they were younger from the band to the diamond placed in the middle.

"I know we're supposed to marry no matter what, but I don't want to wait any longer, you also deserve to have a ring for being such an amazing partner and woman. What do you say?"

"Yes. I'd love to."

Authorsnote!

Finally, after almost six months I've uploaded something :') I do hope this doesn't become a habit since I do want to finish this, I don't want this to become those unfinished stories that people wished for them to continue. I've also been working on uploading this in my ao3 account which was a whole darn process that I wasn't expecting :X I do have other fanfics that I would love to work on but I think I should have at least ten chapters on this one before thinking of writing anything else. I hope you all enjoy this chapter and do follow if you would like to know what happens next ;)
