Days went on like this, meeting each other having meals together, coming by each others work to chat when free and even reading books together. In a blink of an eye 8 months passed. Today would be my 20th birthday the date is June 22nd.
About 5 months ago i got permission to not use my sling anymore and start working out my left arm again, since then i have added 100 push ups and sit-ups to my daily workout. Now 5 months later i am stronger than I've ever been and all of the swimming i do to map out new areas and get us supplies has made my stamina great.
I wake up getting out of bed only having my boxers on i get on an outfit that i like a lot. The khaki pants with my black short sleeved button up. I tuck it in my pants and grab a belt putting it on. I grab my watch slipping it onto my left wrist. My arms covered in scars from the fall months ago. My chest has a huge scar on it that goes up the right side of my neck stopping short of my hair line.
My hair longer now on the side instead of being close cut i brush my hair back in the same fashion but looks better now with it's longer look. We have had about 20 people join us at the base, the base is growing day by day. With so many people not as much work is needed from everyone so our daily task are simple and easy to do. Most days I get more supplies and map out areas of the endless ocean of this world.
A knock is heard at my door. "Come in" Caleb walks in and tosses me a small box that is wrapped. "Happy birthday" He closes the door grabbing a sit pulling it up and sitting across from me. I finish tying my shoes and open the box. Inside is a chip about the size of my hand. "Is this?!" I look up excited. He nods his head. I grab my tablet from the wall, slinging it on my shoulder. "Let's go try it out" I saw leaving the room with Caleb on my heels
. I make it to my ship bay that is most clean with my little projects on the floor and tables throughout the room. In the middle of the room hanging over the water circle hangs a one person submarine called a seamoth. I open up the front of the seamoth, the front of it starts to extend out. I move a few pieces of metal and insert the chip from the box under it closing the front of the vehicle.
The lights inside come on. "Yeah!" I give Caleb a hug putting up a hand in cheers.
" I should of known you would of been here already" Charlotte walks in holding something behind her back. Caleb gives her a side hug when she walks up. I go to my closet grabbing a glove i made coming back out seeing only Charlotte left in the room.
I turn on the glove and start moving my hand controlling the seamoth hands. Turning the glove off I turn to Charlotte hugging her and spinning her around then putting her down smiling still. Her face with a small blush oh her cheeks. "Well it's no chip to your seamoth but here" She holds out a small box that isn't wrapped but is closed.
Taking off my gloves and putting them on my belt loop, I open the box to show two black rings inside. She takes out the smaller one putting it on her right pointer finger then putting the bigger one on my right pointer finger, engraved on the ring is my nickname she gave me "Charming" which i got from one of the older ladies saying that i looked like a prince out of a fairy tale.
I grab her hand looking at the ring and see "Artemis" which I gave her because of her hitting me in the head at night time and her love for the moon. "I love them, Thank you" I give her another hug, feeling her hug me back.
Letting her go I grabbed some batteries I made by plugging them into the back of the seamoth and hooking it up to a cable I tapped into the base's power. Charlotte sighed sitting down at one of the tables watching me work while messing with her ring. I finished, then we headed out to get some food. Talking as we walked, making jokes with her about our nicknames.
Opening the door to the cafeteria there was a big group of people under a big sign that said "Happy Birthday" All of them were cheering when we walked in. "You…" I look down at Charlotte seeing her laugh and grab onto my arm with my hand in my pocket. We walk to the group, her still holding on to my arm, smiling. Richard carries out a cake with candles on it. "Make a wish" I look down at Charlotte then blowing out the candles.
Grabbing a slice Charlotte and I sat down at a table with her in front of me.
Over the past 8 months I've fallen more and more in love with this girl and still have not made a move just enjoying the peace we have.
She flirts and holds onto me a lot more these days but I'm not sure if she is just comfortable with me or if she likes me. We eat the cake then head out to start work for the day. I dropped her off at her medical bay. I head off to my ship bay finishing my task Charlotte joins me at my ship bay sitting down in a chair talking to me while I mess with my seamoth . The rest of the day Charlotte and I hang out going over old times falling asleep in my ship bay.
