Two months go by I grab some jeans and slip them on. I grab a slim fit black t-shirt from my closet, throwing it on and then grabbing my shoes and slipping them on as well. I grab my watch and tablet opening my door there stands Charlotte, we walk to grab some food her laughing at something i said and holding onto my arm leaning into me.
"Today will be the day i tell her that i like her" i thought looking down at her holding onto my arm. We eat quickly then head off to work. I worked through lunch on small things all day most of my time traveling around the base to all the zones I needed to fix stuff in. I grabbed some chips and water when fixing something in the kitchen.
Around 8 I finished all of my work and decided to go and see Charlotte and see if she is done. I was sweaty from working all day with oil on me and my skin dirty and the jog to the medical bay just added to my dirty state. The door is open and i hear talking inside. I catch my breath and peek inside the room seeing a guy i haven't seen before holding Charlotte's cheek and leaning close to her face. I turn away not wanting to see anymore and head back to my ship bay.
I reach the ship bay and plug my tablet it letting music play loudly and i start the forge i take off my shirt and toss it behind me grabbing the leather gloves and getting to work on the sword i was making before hand, taking out my emotions on the piece of steel.
I feel a grab on my shoulder after hours of working on the steel. I flinch and turn to see Caleb holding a plate with a hamburger on it and a drink in his other hand. I turn off the forge and put the steel into a water barrel letting it sit there and cool. I head over to the tables where Caleb was sitting and turn off the music before joining him and eating the dinner he got me. He starts to talk about his day while eating.
"Oh yeah today 8 more people showed up" i looked up at that part of his story. "There are a 2 guys and 3 girls our age and the rest of them are 2 older guys and one older girl i think one of the older people are married" He finished eating then took some of my drink already finishing his own. Taking back my own drink "What departments are they in?" i ask hoping no one joins my ship bay." I think they were all medics, cooks, and fabric makers.
"You wanted to still have your own place didn't you" He ruffles my hair smiling at being able to guess what i was thinking. "I am going to let you clean up our food i'm heading off to bed it's getting late" he gets up and heads out waving before closing the door behind him. I finish my meal and grab my shirt putting it on as I head to the kitchen to put the dishes away. I see Charlotte in the hallway heading off to somewhere quickly, she must of not seen me. I continue to the kitchen and drop off the dishes in the sink and head to my room. I take a shower and change into some loose pj pants then brush out my hair and grab the book i was reading the night before reading it for a little bit while sitting in bed. I put the book down after reading for an hour or so and lay down trying to fall asleep.
Feeling uncomfortable in bed I stayed up unable to fall asleep. After laying awake for hours i grab some socks and head out to the bedroom wing. I reach Charlotte's door and open it to the familiar sight of the messy bed and clothes on the ground, but the bed was empty. I knock on the open door peeking inside seeing the bathroom door open and the light off.
"What are you doing?" I turn quickly at the voice to see the guy from the medical bay earlier. "Just seeing where Charlotte was" answering the man in front of me. He steps closer to me straightening out his back trying to look tall. He reaches behind me and closes the door i was holding open. "Whatever it is, it can wait until morning" I straighten out my back clearly a head over the man in front of me. I turn and head back to my room feeling the stares from him as i leave the hallway.
I try to sleep once i get back but never seem to fall asleep. I check the clock which reads 5:00. I grab some jeans and a t-shirt and head off to my ship bay. I start on the task i had set out for the next day finishing half of them before my alarm to get up went off. I start the forge and start beating the steel sword some more letting it cool between so it stays strong. Not wanting to see anyone this morning I wait out in my ship bay just cleaning my tools and working on my sword until two hours into the work day then i went and grabbed some food bringing it back with me.
I finished the rest of my task for the day and took a nap in a chair that was in my ship bay. I was woken up by a notification popping up on the tablet asking for a group to head out toward a distress call and try and bring them back to the base. I signed up name up on the tablet then went to my room. I took a quick shower and changed into some clean clothes. I saw a notification on my tablet i checked to see I was approved on the team and a message from Richard saying i would be going alone using my seamoth. I would be leaving in an hour time.
I went and got some lunch to pass the time and met up with Richard in the meeting room going over the plans and the gear I would be bringing with me. I took my tablet with me so i would be able to be in contact with the base and able to change the plan if needed. I changed into a wet suit and slipper boats. I packed the supplies into my sea moth giving Caleb a hug i left.
