"Yeah, we were out having fun and all, and then freak accident, he's mostly keeping it on the down low for now since it might not be as bad as it appears but...", the groomsman nodded with a shrug. "Flowerpot landed on it.", Susan interrupted him as he looked at her.
"Ye- yeah, that's right.", he stammered. "Anything Derek said before that? Anything you remember? Anything morally abhorrent and illegal?" Susan was turning on the intimidation and the dude practically could swear that she was starring right into his soul.
"You mean...", the groomsman looked at Susan in shock and fear. "Crazy coincidence, but I was just leaving that convenience store when you boys went by. I saw and heard everything. What Derek bragged about, how the flowerpot fell off the roof and how you had to carry him. You were the one holding him by his right arm.", Susan replied sharply with a nod.
The man turned white as a ghost as Susan suddenly felt much more confident that maybe it would work out.
"Look, Susan, I don't want any trouble...", the groomsman held up his hands. "I mean, I was just as appalled as you but, you know, had to play along since Derek and the others would've jumped me...".
"Some friends. And you're not the one in trouble, my own sister is if she doesn't know the truth. She didn't believe me last night, so I need to talk to her again...", Susan retorted with a narrowed set of eyes.
"So, what do you want me to do then? Tell her before we start? Or do I wait until the whole 'speak now' bit?", asked the groomsman.
Susan looked at him sharply, "You have to tell her before the ceremony starts. You don't go anywhere, or I'll know. I will get my sister, and you tell her then. Got it?".
The groomsman nodded, gulping, "Y-yep.", terrified of the gleam in Susan's eyes, unknowing that Susan is clearly like Peggy this way, and Susan nodded, "Good!", before smiling coyly, "And oh, thank you.", as she left him, and went to search for Tara, praying to get to her before the ceremony starts.
Susan found Wendy, "Hey, Mom. Where's Tara?", and Wendy smiled, "She's out on the gazebo. Could you tell her that it's starting soon? I'm afraid that she's daydreaming again.".
"Sure...", Susan nodded. She could already imagine the shock and disgust that would probably cross her and Carl's face the moment they learned the truth, but there would be no gentle way around it, especially at this critical hour. Susan headed back outside and started walking over to the gazebo when she suddenly stopped when she saw that Tara wasn't alone.
With her at the moment... was Derek. Tara herself was wondering deeply about last night, sighing heavily as she looked out to the fields when she heard Derek's voice, "Wow, you look beautiful.".
Tara turned around to see Derek in his tuxedo, and smiled as she blushed, "Thanks...You look handsome, Derek...Hold on, did you sneak out to see me?".
Derek grinned, "Couldn't resist to see you, Tara. And don't worry, we'll be alone ourselves on the honeymoon.", and Tara giggled before squeezing his hand, "I heard about the knee. Are you okay?".
Derek smiled, "Ah, nothing's broken as you can see. Just mainly a bruise. I put some palm stuff and medicine. I'll be fine, babe.", and Tara smiled, "Good...so, are you psyched for New York City? I can't wait to check out the Brookyln Bridge, drink coffee and donuts at the base of Lady Liberty, and of course, stroll down in Central Park.".
"Eh, about that...", Derek rubbed the back of his neck. "I'm afraid we're going to have to postpone that New York idea."
"What? Why?", Tara asked in confusion. "Well, I just got an offer... another station wants me on the evening time and are wanting me to audition.", Derek smiled.
"Which station?", whatever idea Tara had, was quickly shot down in response to the answer. "Fresno.", Derek grinned with a nod.
Fresno... not even something close to say top 20 cities in the country in terms of size, population... basically anything.
Tara exhaled, "How soon?", and Derek replied, "The best they can do is in two days. Tara, I really want this! I mean, I am going to be a news anchor, my dream job! If I work hard, I can actually get up to correspondent on the field. Is that great?".
Tara smiled warmly, "Of course! It's great, and you're really psyched about this, huh?", and Derek nodded, "Yes! Come on, Tara, heck, with the new position, I can get even bigger paychecks, and you can get a start off your fashion business or such.".
"I suppose when you put it that way, I wouldn't mind settling in Fresno.", Tara nodded, and Derek smiled, "See, and we're a team. You're so proud of us. And I'm sorry about New York...".
Tara waved it off, "Don't worry about that. I can do that one day when I get settled into my fashion business.", and Derek nodded, "There you go.", with a chuckle.
"Oh, what are you standing for? Get going, you know you got a place at the altar!", Tara blinked before shooing Derek off, and Derek laughed, "Relax, everything's gonna be fine. I'll be waiting for you, my bride. I love you, babe!".
Tara smiled and shook her head in amusement, and spoke warmly, "I love you too...", before frowning, feeling upset and sad that she wouldn't even get a chance to see New York City as it's one of the top things on her list ever since she was a child...
And the honeymoon isn't even romantic, either, in Fresno...Only two days before he goes off auditioning and working...She is starting to feel doubtful...
Meanwhile, Susan was making sure that she avoided Derek at all costs... if she got close to him right now, she was fairly sure she'd try to tear his throat out, Roadhouse style. After a few moments, Susan decided to walk up to the gazebo.
"Hey...", Susan gave a soft tone as she spoke. Tara quickly went right back to the present and turned around to look at her.
Tara remembered last night, and sighed, looking at Susan, glancing at the spot she slapped, seeing that Susan covered it in makeup and all..."Are you okay? I...I hurt you...".
"It's alright.", Susan was continuing the soft tone, last thing she wanted was to once more start things off. "I... I almost wasn't going to come through.", she admitted. "Not at least until I got your text.". Tara glanced away as Susan sighed. "And trust me, I clearly can take much worse, I think... at least physically. Emotionally...". She didn't want to finish that sentence.
"Bad luck, isn't it for the bride to see the groom before the wedding?", Susan said as she glanced back at the church. "Oh...", Tara finally spoke again. "Yeah... Derek... um, we're not going to New York, he's got an offer to audition in a few days for Fresno.".
"Could be worse, I guess... you could be stuck out in a small town doing that. We all have to start somewhere, right?", Susan shrugged with a chuckle.
Tara smiled softly, "Yeah...I'm happy for him, really. And besides, New York's overrated for either a honeymoon or a new life, anyway.", with a shrug, and Susan raised an eyebrow, surprised to see Tara putting away a dream like that when Susan knew that Tara has forever dreamed of seeing New York City ever since she saw it on TV when they were little.
"You shouldn't do that to yourself, Tara...Derek should think about you, not himself all the time. He literally knew that you always wanted to go to New York at the earliest opportunity, and the honeymoon was one of them.", Susan frowned, and Tara sighed.
"Sue, would you please stop degrading on Derek? He's going to be my husband which means he would be your brother-in-law.", Tara asked wearily. Susan frowned, "Oh, I will when you get out of his life. Tara, please listen to me. I got proof of what I said last night!".
Tara narrowed her eyes, "Susan, stop it! I'm going to get married, and that's fin-", before blinking in surprise and confusion, "What was that?", hearing a sonic boom.
Susan glanced around for a few moments as she was unsure, but she was starting to feel a strange tingle on the back of her neck. "Something didn't just explode, did it? The parking lot?".
"Not seeing smoke over there...", Tara said. Susan looked around, coming out of the gazebo, and Tara followed her, and then a moment later, another sonic boom sounded out, and both sisters looked up to see a meteorite flying through the air, straight for them.
"Sue... tell me that's not what I think it is...", Tara said as Susan grabbed her hand and started pulling her away. "That's a goddamn meteor coming straight for us, run!", she screamed.
They ran, but eventually, Tara couldn't keep up as her gown tripped her, and Susan gasped, turned back to at least hold Tara in her arms, "I'm so sorry, Tara!", thinking that she'd die, and Tara cried out, "I love you, sis!", and Susan responded, "I love you too, sis!", and then bam.
The huge boulder-sized of strange glowing green-ish blue rock slammed into them, but they didn't die as expected, but got dizzy and all as the two sisters absorbed the energy from the meteorite, with almost 95 percent going into Tara, and unknowingly, her unborn fetus, with 6 percent into Susan, opening the dam on her locked Quantonium, Super Soldier Serum, and X-Gene powers while kickstarting her memory, the amnesia slowly disappearing off with her eidetic memory coming back.
It was a strange event to anyone who could've witnessed it, which strangely, by all odds, no one did. Instead, all that there were the two sisters as they laid unconscious for a bit as the energy continued to pour into their bodies.
This lasted for three short minutes, and the meteorite became nothing but pebbles, and the girls woke up, messy and dizzy, but still alive, and buzzed up, trying to make sense of what happened.
"Tara... you alright?", Susan coughed as she tried to check on her big sister. "I... I think so...", Tara coughed right back as the dust continued to disperse.
It was almost insane as the two of them quickly took stock of things. There was almost no sign that a meteor had even landed amongst the ground, no crater, no signs of a space rock, and certainly not two flattened corpses. "Did you... did you shield me there?", Tara asked.
"Didn't think it would make much difference, but yeah...", Susan admitted. "I know with the past few hours and all between us... but you're still my big sis and I'll always be there for you, whether you appreciate it or not.".
Tara smiled tearfully and hugged Susan, "I'm so sorry, Sue! Can you forgive me for kicking you out?", and Susan smiled tearfully, "Of course! Sisters forever?".
Tara grinned, "Sisters forever!", before hearing their mother call out for them, "Tara, Susan! Where are you?!".
"Oh, my god, the wedding! I can't be late!", Tara gasped, and started to walk up the slight incline, and Susan began to protest, "Tara, wait-", before hearing their mother call out, "Tara, there you are! Goodness, you're a mess!".
Susan groaned and saw the illusion of her true parents gesturing for her to keep going and try, and Susan nodded, "Right. There's still a chance.", before walking up to join the others, with hearing Tara reply, "I think I and Sue were hit by a meteor.".
Wendy shook her head, "Oh, that's just your jitters, honey. Come on, let's clean you up! Lucky, I have some wipes. Susan, oh, no! Did you two get dirty in the grass again like kids?! I swear you are looking to stress me out!".
Wendy dragged the sisters to the church before even Susan would protest, but Tara didn't, only excited and nervous and upset to be dirty like this.
"Mom, please, can we just...", Susan didn't say much until she got dragged away from Tara. Susan's heart sank once more but there was at least one last chance before really, she would be forced to 'speak now'. One glare at Derek's buddy as she was escorted up front quickly sent the message; he better say something in the next few moments.
As the song of the wedding march commenced, Susan can feel something stirring inside her, and strangely, it's familiar to her for some reason, like it's from a long time ago. She saw the illusions of her true parents sitting up front, with Henry in Peggy's arms, and they looked anxiously excited almost like they know something, rather than the truth of Derek's terrible crime, that is.
Susan really was feeling so off in the head all of a sudden, wondering what was going on with her parents there; especially when they suddenly vanished as if they knew something was coming...
She turned her attention back to Derek as another one of his buddies was whispering to him while Derek was obviously still wincing from his injured leg. Oh, how she wished it crippled him; it was less than he deserved.
Her attention, like much of the room quickly turned back to the doors as Tara was being led in by Carl.
Susan watched with anticipation even if she's still feeling off, determined to bring the truth out into the spotlight, and then felt tingling in her legs and arms, and looked down at them, and saw herself glowing green through the skin and dress.
Her memory came with a word, Quantonium, and she somehow remembered that this is good for her but realized that Tara is going to have the same effect, yet she's going to panic, and Susan looked over to see Derek removing the veil, complimenting Tara, but not really, and yep, Susan can see the glowing green Quantonium showing through Tara.
"Oh, shit...", Susan muttered to herself as it clicked to her on why her parents were excited... but also why they suddenly left. She and Tara obviously were going to have the worst wedding wardrobe malfunction of all time. "Tara!", Susan quickly moved out of the bridesmaid's formation to run up to her.
Tara groaned as she shouted, "Derek! Sue! Somebody help me!", starting to grow and grow. Susan could feel her dress starting to constrain on her body as well as she could see Tara's dress already looking a few sizes too small in such a short time.
"I'm here, I'm here!", Susan said to Tara as she got her hands on her shoulder. "All of you clear out now!", Susan yelled commandingly and sharply.
"Sue... you're growing!", Tara shouted. "Yeah, so are you, but I'm still with you!", Susan replied, reassuring her.
Tara looked scared, terrified, but glad and relieved at the same time as she grew, and Susan grew, hearing the screams and shouts of the crowd as they scrambled and panicked and ran for their lives, clearing out of the way, and Derek was tousled in the crowd, aggravating his leg injury worse than he imagined, a small victory in Susan's eyes.
Wendy and Carl were horrified and afraid to see their daughters like this, upset to see Tara scared as she panicked, barely holding to the fact that she's not alone with Susan who is not somehow panicking as her, but still very worried.
The dresses clearly were not holding up every foot that they gained as more and more of the building emptied out; essentially leaving only the Murphy parents and Derek who had sat down in a pew because of how bad the pain in his leg got. Both women's shoes exploded off them as their toes ripped them open like clams and their sleeves were torn in half when they just couldn't ride up the arms any longer.
Tara screamed, "This isn't happening! This is a nightmare!", as she grew, and Susan shushed her as she tried to hold her in her arms, "Please don't panic, Tara. I'm right here!", as she grew alongside her.
Their dresses became so constricting as they soon got too big to fit up to the rafters, and pieces of their dresses fell away, tearing higher and higher with every foot the sisters gained, and Susan saw her adoptive parents, and called to them, "Go, get out of here, before you get hurt!".
Carl and Wendy were hesitant but as more and more of the building clearly was starting to break with each moment as the girls started to run out of room, they knew they had to less they'd be buried underneath the rubble.
Susan was still trying to keep Tara together, which wasn't what could be said for the dresses as now they started to lose their battle against their growing bodies as more and more of it ripped and exposed them. Not to mention the other changes that were occurring with the girls, such as in Susan's case where her fairly faint muscles were becoming more and more defined... looking more like her biological mother's body in many ways.
She may be losing her amnesia slowly, but she still doesn't know that back when she was used to open the portal, at least 25 percent of Quantonium was taken away from her, leaving her to be 75 ft as a possible outlook for her future size, and she doesn't seem to remember how to size-change either at all, to her Amazonian size which would be potentially 9 or 10 ft, either following her dad or mum's Amazonian heights.
