We talked for hours, I explained how we landed and the fire started in the lifepod to finding our first aggressive creature, and about how I met Charlotte. For the first time getting hit across the head with a fire extinguisher and officially a few days later in the Medbay. I explained the ring I wore now and how the pair of it belonged to her.
I told them about my trip for four months bringing another group of people to our base and how I stupidly left because of a misunderstanding and lost a lot of time with the ones I cared about but by going I met some amazing people. And I told them about how all those ballroom dances paid off and about the morning I left to come here.
I left out some details due to embarrassment but seeing the look on my parents faces I think they figured them out already. Feeling my ears burn hot I changed the subject and asked them about them landing and us getting the elimination signal from their lifepod. They told me that going down they hit some kind of body of land and it tore apart half of the lifepod and popped the inflatables dragging them down to the bottom of the ocean while trapped in their chairs.
How they got to their mask to get air but hit a rock collection that fell on them crushing dad's arm. How lifepod IV landed right above them and saw their elimination signal and dove down as soon as they landed to come get to us. The pressure of the rock on dads arm kept him from bleeding out but they didn't have the manpower to get the rock up in time so they cut off his arm below the elbow and dragged him back up into the lifepod.
"We tried to reach out to other lifeboats and try to find you boys but we couldn't fix the radio. We rode the currents for a while and found three other lifeboats attaching all of them together. That's when we started to make the cyclops. It took us about 4 months to finish making the cyclops, most of us moved onto here and worked to make it more liveable and help each other find lost families or mourn the deceased.
Around that time is when we got our radio to pick up signals but haven't been able to send out any until 2 weeks ago when we sent out the emergency beacon." my dad explained catching me up on what happened."
We saw that your lifepod gave off the elimination signal on the day that we crashed, and we were in no shape to travel by ourselves all that distance to find out the truth" my mom said. I laid my hand on her shoulder comforting her. "Why did you guys send out the emergency signal?" I ask looking back up to my dad.
Sighing he explained the situation. In the many months they were on this planet this group has collected one roman numeral lifepod and 8 other ones, with a total of 50 people. Because they have so many people only a max of 20 of them can live on the cyclops. Their plan was to build two more cyclops and then travel trying to find more survivors. But 2 weeks ago a storm happened, making the rock formation that was holding all of the lifeboats together and not getting lost to the currents, break apart, falling onto the lifepods, pinning all of them at the bottom of the ocean about 2,000 meters deep.
The lifepods have been stable and have about 2 months worth of time left with plenty of water and food. "The problem is we don't have anyone here capable of freeing them even if we make the next cyclops in time to house the people who's lifepods aren't livable anymore. " my dad explained. "Good news now you do" I say pointing to myself. My parents start to protest but are stopped by an alarm going off.
"Let me guess, dinner time?" I say standing up. My parents lead me to the food hall. Inside are lines with food being served at each one, I grab a sandwich and some chips and also a bottle of water. David is sitting in a large booth with a man and a woman next to him all eating some sort of meat meal.
My parents and I sit across from David and now the two new faces. One is a man around my age who has black hair and blue eyes and the woman next to him is around my mom's age with black hair and blue eyes. The guy and girl introduce themselves quickly with me shaking both of their hands.
Perseus Killington is 22 years old and he is one of the best surgeons of all time, before the Aurora he won countless awards at just the age of 18. Winter whetstone was one of the mechanics on board and also David's daughter. I inform them I'm caught up on the situation. For the next few hours we go over a few plans and have decided that I will be the one going down and freeing all of the lifepods.
We will have to work all day and night to finish making a cyclops in time. We made our plan and broke up for the night I walked my parents back to their room and grabbed my wetsuit that was now dry and took it with me to the control room that they set out a cot for me to sleep on for the time being.
I slip my wetsuit on and make a quick trip to my seamoth grabbing my tablet and recording equipment from it then making it back to the control room changing back into dry clothes i hang the wetsuit up to dry.
I did my daily update stating that I made it here and updated them on the situation. I tapped into their radio frequency and sent all of the updates from each day over to Caleb's computer. I sent an extra video telling him about mom and dad being safe here and we plan to all come home and see him soon. I take the chip out of my tablet and plug it into the map in the middle of this room and see the map slowly update with the data.
I put the chip back into the tablet. I open up my messenger and send one final text before dozing off to sleep.
