Second Battle of Sol

Near Neptune - Sol System - July 5 1989

The Second Battle of Sol raged, as a Republic Venator exploded and sank into the atmosphere of Neptune, being shredded by the gas giant's gravity. A Separatist Providence class ship went down, as fighters raged against each other, a Republic Y-wing managing to bomb the bridge of another Providence as a Munificent class frigate also went down, while two Republic cruisers were destroyed. Joining the fight were three American Venators and one German Venator. The Americans and Germans were using more tactical strikes, making use of their heavy guns to minimize damage to themselves and maximize damage to the enemy.

Admiral William Penn commanded the US ship USS Ronald Reagan, while the USS Norman Schwarzkopf and USS Douglas MacArthur flanked a group of Seppie capitals joined by the RS Erwin Rommel and a group of Republic bombers. The naval battle as of now, was inconclusive. General Grievous, aboard the bridge of the Invisible Hand, was approached by a droid. "Sir, the Terrans have activated a shield for their planet, an orbital bombardment won't work." Grievous growled angrily. "Then we shall land in all their cities and crush them from the ground." "Yes sir." The droid said.

700 Separatist landing craft exited their ships, flying under the central battle and towards Terra.

President's Bunker - White House - Washington - 4:23am EST

President Bush watched the holomap of the galaxy. "They're coming." "DAMMIT!" Schwarzkopf shouted. Obi-Wan stood up. "No, no, it's fine, we can repel them." "I hope to god almighty you're right." MacArthur said. "If we can't win here, the battle out there means shit."

The order went out over the nation for the military to prepare. Across the world, nations prepared. About 237 of the CIS landers were destroyed by Terran ships, while the rest managed to make it to the planet. However, Grievous's limited knowledge of Terra meant about 50,000 droids were now stuck on Antarctica, another 30,000 were in the barren Sahara Desert. The Seps received a shock to the system when their transports began randomly blowing up in the sky. Their escorts attempted to find the source, but could not.

It was the US Air Force. Despite worries, it seemed the Terrans had a far superior air force to the CIS, their jets and planes being far more agile and faster than anything the CIS had, and having long sense abandoned the concept of dogfights, the Terrans used far off computing and scanning to attack targets hundreds of miles away.

In the end, droid forces were able to land in multiple cities, including Washington, New York, Paris, London, Berlin, Petrograd, Nanjing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Cairo, and Rome.

Battle of Washington

Outside Washington - Maryland - 4:50am EST

A droid force numbering 30,000 activated in the land outside DC, beginning the march south. However, they quickly came under fire from the city's defenses, and were bombed by the Air Force while citizens with guns hiding in the trees and terrain brought down many, as the Maryland National Guard and Maryland State Defense Force chased the droids to defend the capital, while the DC National Guard dug into their defenses, the Capital Guardians keeping the droids at bay.

Across the Potomac in Arlington, the city was a hellish warzone as the Virginia National Guard and Virginia State Defense Force attacked a droid force numbering 20,000, the Virginians attacking with a combined force of 26,000. Most citizens had been evacuated, while the rest stayed to defend their homes. Or die trying.

The first President since Madison to directly command US troops from the capital, Bush ordered the DC National Guard and the 15,000 regular troops in the city to fortify and keep the invaders out at all costs. A group of 600 droids breached the defenses, but soon found themselves in a killing box as troops hidden in buildings fired down on them, killing around 550, with the rest fleeing towards the National Mall, where they faced down the best of the DC National Guard defending the White House.

In Arlington, the Virginians -backed up by 400 Galactic Marines- drove the droids into the Potomac, where thousands "drowned" and many CIS craft fell into the water. Groups of MTTs retreated into upper Maryland, heading north towards Pennsylvania. Back in Maryland, there were only around 14,000 droids left, with two MTTs managing to break into the city, but the massive transports proved unable to get into the city streets, forcing the droids to abandon their armored transport for their lightly-armored NR-N99 snail tanks. As these charged into the city, they were picked off by grenade launchers and bazookas.

Brutal building-to-building fighting broke out as droids charged into stores and apartments, being cut down by soldiers and citizens. About 3,000 droids made it into the National Mall, where they were able to kill a decent number of Guardsmen, however, 6,000 Virginians and 321 Galactic Marines crossed the Potomac into the city to aid in defending the capital as the DC Guard charged.

By 6:45am, Washington was freed of the droids. With the capital defended, now it was time to defend the rest of the nation. The MTT force in Pennsylvania was bombed by the Air Force as a droid force touched down in New Jersey, across from Philadelphia.

However, Washington was not completely safe, as another droid force of 10,000 began attacking the city from the east, a weaker spot, allowing them to enter the city. Captain Carl Hall of Omega Team, made a Brevet Major, led his force of Galactic Marines and US troops southeast to fend off the droids as the DC Guard and Virginians garrisoned the city to fend off any more attacks.

In the bunker, Bush ordered the troops to secure citizens and protect them at all costs, with the battle in the southeast turning into utter hell, as several buildings were destroyed and many on both sides killed. The Galactic Marines held a charge, loosing another 150 men but managing to drive off the droids, with the US/Republic force chasing them.

Hall fired off his M16 into the head of a fleeing B1, watching in satisfaction as its body dropped. "DRIVE 'EM OFF BOYS, DRIVE 'EM OFF!" The troops began cheering and chasing down the droids. The droids mistakingly veered west, leading to them being chased into the Potomac. The troops cheered and fired their weapons into the air. "Washington has been won." Schwarzkopf said. Bush, a sense of relief washing over him, sank into a chair. "It's not over yet." Quayle said.

Battle of Charleston

Charleston - South Carolina - 7:02am EST

John Grays, the Major General of the South Carolina Defense Force, watched the Separatists landing in the ocean outside Charleston. He grimaced as the South Carolina National Guard took up defensive positions, backed up by 600 regular clone infantrymen. Droid snail tanks began to drive up onto the beach, several rolling over mines and exploding, while an onslaught of bazookas, grenades, tank blasts, and blaster bolts rained down on the arriving tanks, while Separatist drop ships attempted to drop droids behind the main lines, with many being shot out of the sky.

the US Air Force began to bomb the Separatists, destroying much of their landers in the sea, while the US Navy brought in several major ships to fire off their guns at the Separatists, sinking many MTTs in the Atlantic Ocean. Grays smirked, watching the battle. About 5,000 droids made it into the beach, where they were rapidly picked off by the entrenched defenders. Several MTTs made it into the bay, only to have their droids either "drown" in the water or be picked off rapidly by the troops.

A group of about 700 droids attempted a flanking attack from the north, making it into the city and succeeding in pushing in, killing many clones and soldiers. However, the quick victory was rapidly erased by a contingent of SCDF troopers attacking from the west. Meanwhile, a group of clones made a bold move forward onto the beach, moving onto Morris Island and firing rockets into an AAT, causing it to sink and block the channel into the bay. "Fall back! fall back!" came the call of a pitiful droid commander, causing the CIS to retreat from the city. Grays, his grin wider than ever, spoke a single word into his commlink: "Now." The Navy ships unleashed a full broadside, decimating every last CIS near them, shattering the Sep's retreat.

Grays saluted a waving American flag as the last AAT sunk into the Atlantic.

Battle of Detroit

Detroit - Michigan - 7:45am EST

Anakin Skywalker adjusted the bulletproof vest over his leather jacket as he watched Separatist ships land around the city. The Michigan National Guard, Michigan Defense Force, and around 20,000 501st Legion clone troopers were assembled in the city, totaling 60,000 troops. For the Separatists, they had about 56,000 B1s, and 4,000 B2 Super Battle Droids.

The Separatists began to push in from the north of the city, facing 2,000 Americans and 1,000 clones. They managed to hold off the Seps for several hours, before running out of ammo and being forced to fall back. In the west of the city, Separatists moved east and faced a tougher defense of 6,000 Americans and 4,000 clones, managing to repel the CIS attack and destroying about 14,000 droids.

Another 10,000 droids pushed in from the north, as Captain Rex led a force of clones and Americans in a pincer attack, succeeding in destroying most of the supers. Anakin, with a central force of 10,000 Americans and 5,000 clones, moved to face the central droid force in the north. Anakin stood on an abandoned police car, lightsaber raised. "FORWARD MEN, FORWARD!" He shouted, jumping to the asphalt and leading the charge against the droids as the soldiers poured bullets and bolts into the droid ranks.

Anakin spun and decapitated a B1, and stabbed a super through the "chest." He then flipped over another and sliced it in half, as Rex shot down three droids. The American/clone force continued moving north, being able to destroy many droids, but suffering high casualties. Air Force jets streaked overhead, bombing a group of Separatist AATs, forcing the droids to retreat into the Michigan interior. The Battle of Detroit was over, but the Battle of Michigan was not. Anakin decided to take 1,000 Americans and 1,000 clones with him into the wooded Michigan inland to destroy the last droid remnants before they could harm civilians.

With that, Anakin's force took off from Detroit, chasing the droids to a large field with old farm houses in the distance. About 300 droids had retreated into the woods, while 20 entered an abandoned barn, and another 1,000 perished during a bombing run by the USAF. Anakin, with him Rex and 30 troops (15 Americans, 15 clones) surrounded the barn and entered, jedi and captain killing several droids while the Americans and clones entered from the other side, killing about 16 droids total, the remaining enemies retreating into the barn's loft. Anakin ordered his men out, and had an American use his lighter to set the barn alight. The men whooped and cheered as they watched it burn, before turning to hunt down the last droids in the woods.

Anakin's force began to enter the thick woods, with bullets and blaster bolts going everywhere. Several trees were taken down as Anakin cut through them while cutting down droids. Two American men were killed, along with 6 clones, however, the droids were dropping at a high rate, as the group unknowingly approached the edge of Lake Huron, where several droids had already fallen in. Anakin noticed the water and grinned. "Let's push 'em into the goddamn sea!" Anakin shouted, apparently not grasping this was a lake, not a sea.

This worked, with many droids toppling across the sand into the water. The remainders were shot. The men celebrated another victory.

CSS Invisible Hand

Grievous ripped the head off the droid who gave him the news, slinging its body into two other droids. He had just been informed of the losses of three consecutive battles, while the others were still ongoing. Navally, the CIS was also doing badly, with the space battle turning in the favor of the Republic. Only the news of reinforcements coming slightly pacified Grievous's rage.

Droids had made landings in multiple major Terran cities, with brutal fighting still ongoing.

Okay, I know, a shorter chapter, but, fear not! the next few chapters will be entirely dedicated to the most major battles on Terra: New York, Chicago, Berlin, London, Paris, Nanjing, and Petrograd. Other smaller battles will likely be mentioned as well.
