Situation Room - Washington - United States of America - 2:35am - July 8 1989
President Bush sat in the Sit Room with Anakin, Obi-Wan, MacArthur, Schwarzkopf, and Putin. After the Russian defeat in Petrograd, the CIS had seized much of northern Russia, and had successfully landed in Vladivostok, Siberia, leading to fears all of Russia and Siberia could fall to the Separatists. "So, Yeltsin was going to betray us?" Bush asked. Putin nodded. "And you killed him." Obi-Wan said. Once again, Putin nodded. "He came at me, I defended myself." The Russian lied, but, it didn't matter. Yeltsin was dead regardless of the situation.
"Well then, Vladimir, I hope you know you are now in charge of Russia." Putin cocked his head. "How? There are many ahead of me." "They're all dead." Schwarzkopf said. It was true. All of the Russian high command had been captured and executed by the CIS, leaving only Putin. "Very well. I will carry out my duty." Putin said. While he was surprised, he knew it would come to this. One way or another, he would end up in charge of Russia. Better sooner than later.
"What now?" Obi asked. "We try to defend the other cities, London, Paris, Tokyo, LA." "What of China?" Anakin asked. "They can fend for themselves. They rejected our help." Bush said sourly. "We cannot abandon them." Obi-Wan said. "If they fall to the Separatists it will grant them a major portion of the planet." "They can suffer for that." Schwarzkopf said darkly. Anakin nodded. "They turned their backs on us, they should suffer." MacArthur frowned. "My father would not want us to abandon China to any enemy, be it communists in the 50s and Separatists now."
Putin sighed. "I say we abandon the Chinese to whatever fate they deserve."
Battle of London
Bunker - London - Republic of England - 7:35am GMT - July 8 1989
President Margaret Thatcher stood in a bunker, addressing her top generals. Standing with the English was Mace, who was at the moment intently listening to the President. She was describing how the English Army and their clone allies would defend London, when sudden explosions rocked the city. The CIS was conducting a high-speed landing, assaulting the city from the air.
"They're here." Thatcher said grimly. 60,000 187th Legion clone troopers and 40,000 English troops were assembled in London, as the Separatists landed 250,000 droids in groups around the city's north, south, east, and west. The droids began rapidly advancing into the city, forcing the English to fall back. The clones, surprised, had little time to learn the layout of the city, causing many to chaotically run into each other or the steadily advancing droids. This produced high casualties, and many clones and English fell to friendly fire.
The English Air Force (EAF) attempted to attack the CIS from the north, however, the EAF had always been drastically underfunded, and its small size and untrained pilots gave the CIS a second major air victory against a Terran state. The clones managed to dig in around the center of the city, while the historic Buckingham Palace -residence of the monarch of Britain before 1918- was destroyed by a Separatist Hyena bomber.
Thousands of civilians were killed as they tried to flee the city, while thousands more died to constant bombing attacks. Mace exited the bunker, igniting his blade, ready to command his clones. He consolidated his forces around Westminster, the home of the English Parliament, the blue-white-green tricolor of England still flying high, a sort of defiant symbol to the CIS.
The droids were successfully taking southern and western London, with the clones and English being force to fall back across the Thames into central London, contracting around Westminster. In the east, droids were rapidly gaining ground, however, their quick advance left many side streets open, allowing English and clones to hide and prepare to retaliate.
Mace and his clones began to move southwest along the shore of the Thames, facing down a droid group numbering 20,000. Mace's troops dug in against the attackers, a brutal firefight that cost the lives of 6,000 clones and 8,000 droids. Mace's force was depleted of ammo and men, forcing him to fall back as 5,000 Englishmen came forward to defend their country. All of them were cut down by the Separatists. Much of London was now in ruins, as MTTs and AATs carelessly plowed through buildings and CIS bombs shattered shops and homes.
The droids were held off at the Thames, while in the east English and clones struck out in short, quick attacks, disabling AATs and killing droids. Despite this, the eastern advance continued, with Westminster in the sights of the droid commander. "We're almost there, sir. This building holds the Arg-lash government." Said a droid to the commander. The commander nodded. "Take it, take it now."
The droids began to rush towards the parliament building, mowing down about 10,000 clones and Englishmen, while Mace ordered his troops to respond and move forward, with only 43,000 clones left and 16,000 Englishmen left. Mace deflected a blaster bolt as an English colonel next to him was struck down."HOLD! DAMN YOU, HOLD!" Cried an English Major as he fired off his pistol at an incoming droid, blasting through its thin head.
The English/clone defense in the east managed to hold, however, in the west the droids were moving quickly, getting closer and closer to Westminster. In the bunker, Thatcher sat down. "We are lost!" an English general shouted, pounding his fist on the table. Another general nodded. "Madam President, the war is lost. We must-" Thatcher glared at the general and stood. "If you suggest we abandon our country, general, you can kindly remove yourself from command." "But-"
Suddenly, the bunker shook. Sounds of bombs. "What is that?" a general asked.
"Alpha Leader, move in." "Copy Alpha Leader. Bravo Group, Titan Group, flank 'em." Fighter jets of the United States Air Force became visible on the horizon, shooting down dozens of CIS craft as US Navy Y-wing bombers -painted gray- rained down bombs on Separatist droids. English and clones jumped to their feet and began cheering, shouting praise and encouragement at their saviors. "Alpha Leader this is Titan Leader, prepare for landing cover." 14 blue-and-white LAATs of the US Army came into view, being escorted by fighter jets.
The LAATs began to land around Westminster, depositing Americans and clones of the 501st Legion. Anakin Skywalker and Jason Dawes leapt off one of them, both igniting their blades. "Keep 'em off the building, drive 'em towards the river!" Anakin shouted. Captain Rex dove off the LAAT, shooting down three droids. About 500 troops had been deposited at Westminster, with thousands more on the way.
The Americans and clones and English began to clear out the droids around Westminster as reinforcements attacked droid groups near the edges of the city. Anakin and Jason slashed at droids, driving several hundred into the Thames as an MTT was disabled by a USAF jet. Separatist Hyena bombers attempted a bombing run of Westminster, but they were quickly shot down, landing in buildings and exploding, killing more civilians.
With their attack starting to crumble, the droids began to retreat north, freeing much of the east, west and south of the city as the Separatists trampled through the north. There, they dug in, preparing to face the tri-national force moving to meet them. More Americans and clones were being brought in, offsetting the heavy losses the English had taken, and empowering the remaining Englishmen to defend their country.
By now, only around 3,000 English soldiers were still alive, most injured, forcing the Americans and clones to take up the entire defense of London. The battle expanded across the north, with mortars and bombs from both sides destroying buildings, utter chaos in the middle as bodies, smoke, blood, and screams clouded the air, with damaged cars leaking oil and shattered glass from buildings coating the streets, then, thunder boomed as rain began to pour, washing away the blood coating the streets and making the battle even more chaotic.
Many battle droids malfunctioned in the rain or slipped on the slick streets, giving the Amero-clone force a small but crucial advantage. They pushed forward into the droid lines, as many droids entrenched themselves in shops or houses. Thus, as was now a staple of this entire conflict, house-to-house warfare began, with both sides taking brutal losses, however, the Americans and their clone allies were slowly starting to win. The droid commander, deciding the battle was worthless, pulled his forces out and succeeded in fleeing London. The troops cheered, however, the droids were able to escape, swinging around the city to head south towards Paris.
Why Paris?
Bunker - Paris - French Republic - 10:34am CEST
"I am going to surrender." The statement of François Mitterrand, President of France, drew gasps from his assembled cabinet. "What?" blurted out one man. "We cannot fight these Separatists, lest our city be erased. I will not see the city be destroyed." Another cabinet member glared at Mitterrand. "Better to see it destroyed than see it fall under the rule of aliens." Mitterrand stood and exited the bunker as droids began to land in the City of Light. He had already contacted the droids and given his surrender. A shuttle landed in front of the Elysee Palace. A Neimoidian shuffled out of it as French gendarme units watched distrustfully as droids began to march on the French capital. "You made the right choice." the Neimoidian croaked in his hoarse voice.
Situation Room - White House - Washington - United States of America - 5:34am EST
"Mr. President" said an aid as he entered. "Yes?" Bush asked. "We just got word from the ambassador to France, they've surrendered to the Separatists." "WHAT?" Bush shot to his feet angrily. "Though, from what we know, much of the French military has refused to comply and has formed a military junta in Nice. They've declared Mitterrand a traitor and want our help." "Damn that socialist, send as many troops as needed to France, alert the Republic and Germany." "Yes sir." the aid said.
Bush slammed his fist on the table. Quayle grimaced. "Those damn French traitors..." Schwarzkopf muttered.
Battle of Jerusalem
Jerusalem - Israeli Republic - 11:34am IST
"DEFEND ISRAEL! DEFEND ISRAEL! DEFEND ISRAEL!" The troops of the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) stood in rows, shouting their warcry over and over, their pledge, their promise to Israel and her people. Israel, having fended off her neighbors in both 1967 and 1985, and now the ruler of the Sinai Peninsula and much of Jordan, was ready for a fight. The Israeli people would not let their nation fall to any invader, be they communist, muslim, or robotic.
The droids had landed in the desert and were advancing towards the Jewish capital. The force numbered 40,000, and the droids believed this would be easy. This "Israel" was tiny, how much of a fight could it put up? The droids began their assault on Jerusalem, facing stiff resistance from the Israeli. The droids were being held up outside as the Israeli Air Force began to bomb the droids, getting into dogfights with CIS craft.
The fighting force of the Israeli surprised the commander, as there were far fewer Israelis than droids on the battlefield, yet, the droids were losing. To compensate, the commander ordered a flanking attack of the Israeli as the last few CIS craft above Jerusalem went down. The droids were beginning to push the Israeli back, but at extremely high cost. As the droids began to enter Jerusalem, they were shot seemingly out of nowhere, with Israeli soldiers everywhere, in the buildings, behind cars, in dumpsters, on roofs, in alleys, they were everywhere.
The droids simply charged forward, attempting to outrun the entrenched Israeli who seemed to be everywhere, every conceivable location for a gunner. Thousands of droids were picked off as they made their way through Jerusalem's winding streets. The Israeli main force would tactically fall back, leading groups of droids into traps, picking off hundreds at a time. The commander was shocked at the power and ferocity these Israeli fought with as he watched entire divisions vanish into back alleys, the roar of gunfire and the screams of the wounded and dying filling the air.
The Israeli defenders had stopped retreating and had dug in around the center of the city, forcing the droids to pull back. The commander briefly considered a siege, deciding against it, as the General demanded quick victories, and a siege would allow other Terrans to race to the aid of these Israeli. Without a bombing force, the only option was ground invasion, which was extremely unappealing. These Israeli were entrenched and likely would not be dislodged with a ground invasion.
He could withdraw and assault a weaker city, but, Grievous would not tolerate a withdraw. Eventually, he decided to just full on charge for the government buildings, then call for reinforcements.
The charge worked well, breaking the city's defense and allowing the droids to approach the government buildings, however, the Israeli re-linked their defense, allowing for targeted air strikes from above to decimate the droids.
The commander ordered his remaining forces to fall back, deciding instead he would assault a weaker city. The Israeli made the droids pay during their frantic retreat, having fought a force of originally 40,000 and reduced it to a mere 3,000. The defeated droids fled into the desert.
Paris - French Republic - 12:58pm CEST
The various ambassadors from many nations -the US, Germany, England, Scotland, Spain, Italy, Russia, Poland, Brazil, Chile- were lined up in the streets in front of a tactical droid. One by one, starting with the Chilean, they were executed by droids.
The American spoke. "You will not win. God's Wrath will ensure of it." A single blaster shot, and he was gone. The tactical droid began to give orders to his men to seize as many ambassadors as they could as the occupation of Paris began. CIS flags were draped on the Arc de Triomphe, and a massive Confederacy flag flew from the Eiffel Tower. Citizens of Paris packed up and fled south to the military resistance as the droids began to hastily set up a sort of wall around the City of Light to keep its people in.
The Champ de Mars was covered in droids and AATs. The Ecole Militaire was occupied by droids, as the CIS banner was raised above it. As the noonday sun rose higher, the City of Light ground to a halt, with many citizens who couldn't flee huddling in their homes. The Paris police were forced to cooperate after their chief resisted and was arrested. President Mitterrand was installed as Commandant Mitterrand, a mere puppet ruler of the "Confederate Occupational Territory of Paris."
Grievous, still fighting the space battle in Sol, was pleased to learn an entire Terran state surrendered, although he did not know of the massive rebellion in the south, or of the multi-national army moving on Paris.
40,000 Americans, 30,000 Germans, and 100,000 clones were now moving south from Normandy towards the City of Light, with the aid of around 5,000 French Armymen.
Soon, the droids in Paris learned of what was going on, but, they remained confident they could repel the attackers, what with a force of 500,000 entrenched in the French capital. The USAF, Luftwaffe and a series of Republic fighters began to race towards Paris, the Terrans using their long-range attacks to blast CIS craft out of the sky.
The air battle soon fell to the attackers, with the superiority of Terran aircraft winning the day against CIS fighters and bombers.
Space - Sol System
The battle in space was slowly starting to turn against the Republic. the CIS had pushed them back to Mars, and the Terrans had lost the RS Prussia and USS Norman Schwarzkopf. The USS Liberty and RS Erwin Rommel, together with the USS Douglas MacArthur and USS Ronald Reagan were now consolidating around Terra as to shield her. Admiral Penn had an idea on how to obliterate a large majority of Separatist craft. To do so, he contacted Washington. Bush, over the comms, spoke. "Very well Admiral. Glory to Terra."
Penn watched from the bridge as the fight continued. Would his plan work? It would have to. He prayed to god almighty that it would.
Down on the ground, the CIS was facing problems. They held Paris, Petrograd, Long Island, Vladivostok, and multiple other small patches of land across Terra, but had lost many battles and suffered terrible damage in New York, Berlin, London, Chicago and Jerusalem. Active CIS units were still trying to take Los Angeles, Helsinki, Nanjing, Tokyo, and Mexico City.
Not only that, but in space the battle, while turning to the Seps, was still extremely costly, other 40 CIS major ships having been downed, and thousands of fighters were destroyed. However, Grievous was determined to win, and seeing the Republic starting to falter made him confident he could break the Republic defense, then orbitally bombard Terra for all the destruction and wasted time it had brought.
Several CIS capitals were now approaching Terra, having broken from the central battle. Penn watched them approach, and breathed heavily. On the ground, in silos from Kansas to Bavaria, from Nevada to Ruthenia, nuclear rockets began to slowly activate.
Another chapter done! I really am sorry I couldn't lengthen London or Jerusalem, I tried but wasn't able to make it interesting, so I am sorry. Next chapter will cover more battles on the ground before the battle in space is finished. I will try to add as much detail as I can to the nest few chapters, but it might take me a while to get them written, so I hope everyone following the story is understanding, gotta trade off quantity for quality, y'know?
Anyway, if you have any questions or suggestions please leave a review!
