Here's the chapter!
Edit: Changed the Bezett's name back to Bazett. I seriously didn't realize that I was writing it wrong the entire time. Now it should be correct.
"So you want to learn about the Holy Grail War, hm?"
Kirei's voice wasn't loud or threatening yet it still was able to effortlessly echo through the silent church. None of the spirits present dared to make a sound to interrupt the dangerous man and Lyserg couldn't afford to miss any word said by him so there was nothing else to make a noise.
"Was my question not clear, priest?" Lyserg asked with a small sneer.
Were it not for the deep desire to punish the murderous priest and the confidence that he could defeat him, Lyserg would have never used a tone like that when talking to a potential information source. Rarely did he dare to let his emotions run amok during a case like that.
"I see that you're getting straight to the point, detective. I like that!" The spirit of the pink haired woman exclaimed with a smirk. "Everything's better than the schemes and backstabbing Kirei was doing."
Lyserg did his best to ignore the pink haired ghost and instead focused entirely on the priest that could answer his question. Although, with the ghost floating right up to his face to inspect him with curiosity in her eyes, it was quite difficult to do so.
Kirei shifted a little in place and a subtle and cruel smile might have appeared on his face but Lyserg couldn't tell since a curious spirit was obscuring the view. He couldn't chase her away in case the deadly priest considered any of his sudden movements as an attack, fighting against a skilled opponent when they have the first move advantage wasn't something he wanted to risk.
"Of course it was clear, sir." Kirei said with a grin. "I have to ask however, what's your purpose for seeking out a hidden ritual like the Holy Grail War. As far as I'm aware every master is already accounted for and I know for a fact that you aren't the overseer since it's my job and you aren't even a member of the Holy Church."
It wasn't difficult to sense the curiosity and interest in Kirei's voice. The deadly man was clearly enjoying this situation way more than a supposed overseer of a secret ritual should have.
"You know, for all of his shrewdness and depravity, Kirei's asking quite a good question here." The ghost asked while turning upside-down to take a look at Kirei. "What has a person like you to do with the Holy Grail War? Could it be that you were sent here by the Clock Tower to investigate something?"
Clock Tower? That's something I haven't had to deal with in a while. Lyserg quietly mused to himself. Throughout his years as a private detective there were a couple of times he stumbled across a few people that mentioned this Clock Tower during his cases. All of them were quite serious cases that involved the supernatural so it certainly gave him a few things to look out for in this case from now on.
He still wasn't confident about the depth of its involvement however since all of these cases where he dealt with people related to this 'Clock Tower' happened in the center of London. Fuyuki was almost at the exact opposite side of the Earth.
"Let's just say that it's because of a task I'm doing on behalf of the Clock Tower." Lyserg lied with slightly narrowed eyes. He had only the most shallowest of ideas about what the Clock Tower's purpose could be but since there was already a spirit here that was suspecting his relation to the mysterious organization there might be a chance that the priest would buy his lies as well.
"Hah! I knew it!" The pink haired ghost cheered with a grin while Kirei merely looked quietly in curiosity.
Lyserg grumbled some quiet complaints about clueless spirits under his nose. Of course she knew that! He basically paraphrased her suspicions back at the deadly priest, there was no way for her to not guess that correctly!
Not being able to easily reveal his ability of seeing spirits to the pink haired ghost woman was really getting annoying.
Unlike the pink haired ghost who either didn't notice or ignored his complaints, Kirei spotted them without any issues and likely thought of them as Lyserg's way of showing his impatience if moving a step forward with a small and curious smile on his face was anything to go by.
"And would you be willing to share with me what that task of yours is then?" Kirei tilted his head slightly. "It would have helped me greatly with explaining to you the sacred ritual that is the Holy Grail War if I knew what exactly you were looking for."
Lyserg took a step back from the priest and tightened his grip on the antique gun which housed one of his guardian spirits. If the priest were to make one suspicious or aggressive move, he would fire it immediately.
"I would not." Lyserg said warily. "You have to know that there are some things that shouldn't be shared with too many people. My task is one of those things."
The pink haired ghost tilted her head in confusion while Kirei's smile turned into a grin that looked almost maniacal. How could ordinary people come to this church and trust the only priest in it with their sins if the man was capable of having such expressions was beyond Lyserg's understanding.
"You're right, not every knowledge is meant to be shared." Kirei nodded to hide his expression a little. "If you know that as well then you have to be aware that the knowledge about Holy Grail War ritual could be considered as not meant to be shared as too."
"Bullshit!" Before Lyserg could open his mouth to argue with the priest and try to convince him to give him some information anyway, the pink haired ghost shouted with a scowl and the words that came right after gave Lyserg a different idea.
"The Holy Grail War is about as secretive as the rest of Magi business, if not less when random ordinary people can get dragged into the war with no issues at all, and the detective here has already proved to know about the Moonlight side of the world. Try to do your job for once, you backstabbing priest!"
It looked like he wouldn't have to get the information from the deadly priest at all. If what the pink haired ghost said was true and she knew the basics of what was happening in Fuyuki as well then he could always ask her instead. He would only need to convince her to follow him outside the church which, considering how she hated Kirei so much, shouldn't be too difficult.
The chance that he would get false info was smaller with her as well.
"I guess I can't ask you for too much then." Lyserg said with a fake sigh and shrug of his shoulders to the surprise of both the ghost and the priest. "It's a pity that I won't be able to learn anything here but there's nothing I can do. I will take my leave then."
With that said Lyserg slowly turned around and walked towards the gates of the church with his body tensed and his hand hovering over the antique gun on his belt the entire time in case of an attack.
"Oh, and do make sure to keep the ghosts of your victims outside of your church next time a shaman visits you." Lyserg said offhandedly while at the exit before turning his head directly towards the pink haired spirit. "You wouldn't want others to know that you are a backstabbing priest, would you?"
...
Outside the church...
...
The wind blew coldly as Lyserg left the church. He was going to bring some unwanted attention onto him from the deadly priest by doing that but getting the information about the Holy Grail War was definitely worth it in his mind.
"Wait!" Lyserg smiled lightly to himself as he heard a loud female voice calling to him from the church.
He didn't stop entirely but he did slow down his walk a little to allow the spirit to easily catch up to him. It wasn't hard to get the pink haired spirit's attention but he couldn't start asking questions just yet, it still was too dangerous when he was so close to the church.
There was no way to tell exactly what the deadly priest had prepared in case a fight were to happen there.
"I said, wait!" The ghost shouted as she caught up to him. "Can you truly see me? Are shamans really able to interact with the dead? I always thought that you guys simply used some really outdated Magecraft to accomplish your so-called jobs."
Lyserg simply smiled at all of those questions. He wasn't sure why but he felt insulted by that last statement. Was it really necessary to insult one's occupation upon finding out that they could talk with you?
Now that he thought about it, the conversation he had with that ghost in the hoodie earlier that day wasn't particularly nice either. Apparently finding a kind spirit who's willing to talk with you was a difficult thing to do nowadays.
Oh, how the times have become harder for all the shamans.
"Yes, I can. All the other shamans can see you as well for that matter, I haven't seen another shaman aside from me in Fuyuki yet though so you don't have to worry about that too much." Lyserg half whispered as he passed through the gates of the church and was far enough to be sure that Kirei wouldn't hear him.
"Great! Then you can help me get revenge on that bastard Kirei for killing me." The ghost said with a tone way too chipper for someone talking about her death and murder of someone else.
Lyserg simply hummed in response, still not comfortable with giving more answers while this close to the church. Ordinary people would just think he's crazy but dangerous people like Kirei could very well use anything he said against him.
"Let's talk after I get far enough from here to be safe." Lyserg whispered before quickly scanning the area around him and subtly pointing with his head towards somewhere. "There's already someone who's waiting to take a stab at us."
True to his words a blue colored spirit, that looked remarkably similar yet distinctively different to the huge spirit accompanying Illya the previous day, was following them somewhat discreetly. At least as discreetly as a person who thought they were completely undetectable by normal people and didn't particularly care about being seen would.
Lyserg didn't notice how or when it started to tail them but he suspected that it was simply sent by Kirei right after he left the building.
"Yeah, I can see him too." The ghost replied absentmindedly while watching the blue figure. "Heads-up, I wouldn't expect to follow us for long before starting the fight. Cu Chulainn isn't someone who enjoys sneaking around."
Lyserg raised one of his eyebrows. What had a legendary hero from Irish folklore to do with anything that was happening right now? First there was the Holy Grail and now on top of that he was hearing things about Cu Chulainn of all things, these things couldn't be unrelated to each other.
Before Lyserg could ask the spirit any questions about that however, a strong gust of wind forced him to wince a little as a well built man clad in blue and with a red spear in his hands landed right in front of him.
"Look buddy, I know there's no reason for me to kill you since you aren't an opposing master and that you seem like a rather decent guy but my master ordered me to kill you so I don't really have a choice here." The man in blue grumbled almost apologetically while stretching his neck before spinning his spear a little and smirking. "I do hope you put up some interesting fight though. Wouldn't be any point in killing you otherwise."
"So..." Lyserg said more to the pink haired ghost rather than to his assailant before jumping backwards to put some distance between him and the spear man. "Cu Chulainn, I presume?"
Morphine instantly went into his pendulum to form an Over Soul. Their opponent might be a hero of legends but in his life Lyserg had fought against opponents that would make those legends seem unimpressive.
"You know, normally I would have congratulated you for guessing my identity so quickly but considering that you are the third person to guess that upon seeing me that really isn't so impressive anymore." Cu Chulainn said half jokingly with a grumble before straining his legs a little and disappearing from his place so quickly that most people wouldn't have even seen him the very next moment.
If Cu's opponent was any ordinary human or even a Magus then the fight would have ended right there since they wouldn't have been able to react, luckily Lyserg was far from ordinary.
As a veteran of the Shaman Fight and a powerful shaman on his own, Lyserg wasn't a stranger to speeds so quick that the human eye couldn't catch up to them and opponents that could end a fight with a single strike. The moment he saw Cu Chulainn straining his muscles, he launched his pendulum to impede the direct charge his enemy would likely make.
It worked, though not to the extent that he hoped for. While his attack did make the spear wielder stop for a moment, it wasn't because he was hit by it or even because he had to block it.
All Lyserg's attack had accomplished was making Cu Chulainn take a step to the side in case the pendulum could hurt him.
A small grin appeared on Lyserg's face and before his opponent could resume his charge or react in any other way, the pendulum halted and turned at a nearly impossible angle and flew directly at Cu Chulainn's face.
"Oh? I see you have some tricks up your sleeve, buddy." Cu Chulainn said with some interest on his face before casually swatting the crystal part of the pendulum away and upon seeing that it was going to fly at him once again no matter what he did, he jumped away from it.
The pendulum followed right behind him with a speed that was slower by only a little bit. It flew and turned at impossible angles to keep up with the blue spear man and even though it was clear to anyone who saw this that the spear man wasn't taking it entirely seriously, the pendulum still posed some challenge to the man.
"It isn't going to keep him occupied for long." The pink haired ghost told Lyserg as he slowly moved further and further away from the legendary hero to keep a safe distance. "He's only playing with your craft. The moment he sees a chance to strike or becomes bored he will just charge through all that wire with no issues."
Lyserg hummed in thought while observing his foe. It wasn't hard to see exactly how powerful the spear man before him was when his pendulum that had defeated countless different enemies was treated as nothing more than a passing curiosity, it was almost frightening how casual he looked while dodging, swatting and blocking Lyserg's pendulum at a speeds so high that other could barely see it.
He moved his hand to the antique gun on his belt, when the pendulum would prove to be not enough then he still had a few more Over Souls to fight with.
"Guns aren't going to do much against him, you know?" The ghost asked with an almost disappointed tone in her voice. "He's a heroic spirit. Ordinary weapons won't do you much good here."
Lyserg rolled his eyes at the comment, as if anybody would use such an old gun as an ordinary weapon. He wasn't even sure if the pistol could fire normal bullets at all with how it looked.
"It's a good thing that it isn't an ordinary weapon then." Lyserg grunted while jumping back after noticing that his opponent was moving past the wire from the pendulum and getting closer.
Once he saw Cu Chulainn jumping over one of the last strands of wire separating them, Lyserg didn't hesitate to aim his gun in the general direction of the blue clad man and pulled the trigger. He didn't bother too much with aiming since the angel should have been able to easily correct its trajectory and attack the enemy on its own.
"Defeat him, Zelel!" Lyserg shouted as a giant steel angel with a rapier in its hand flew at the legendary hero with its weapon extended.
"What is that?!" The ghost pointed at the flying angel in shock.
No answer met her question however as Lyserg kept quiet and attentively waited for the clash between the legendary hero of the past and his angel that would undoubtedly happen in a moment.
In contrast to the strong reaction the pink haired woman had, Cu Chulainn looked only confused and puzzled. He knew that the angel was flying at him, the fact that he was watching it in confusion was a proof of that, but he appeared less like someone who was bracing himself for a clash and more like someone who was trying to decipher what was actually flying at him.
Was Cu Chulainn unable to see Over Souls?
A small frown appeared on Lyserg's face, he couldn't have confirmed that theory with his pendulum earlier since it was still a physical object that was simply controlled by Morphine and him so it was a possibility.
Although, it didn't explain how the man in blue was able to perceive his Over Soul at all if not by sight.
"Is that a servant?" Cu Chulain asked in confusion before instinctively raising his spear to block a strike from the angel. "Nope! It's still physical despite being in its spiritual form."
Now it was Lyserg's turn to be confused. Why would Cu Chulainn refer to his Over Soul as a spiritual form? Was he really unaware of what he was fighting yet still able to block and attack it?
It just made no sense.
The fight between his angel and Cu Chulainn appeared to be way more even than when he tried to contend against him with only his pendulum. Although Cu Chulainn still appeared to be faster than the angel, he only barely dodged or blocked most of its attacks.
"Now it actually resembles a fight between servants." The pink haired lady whistled, impressed at the fact that Lyserg could put up a fight at all.
Lyserg nodded slightly, making sure to remember another term that seemed relevant, before commanding his pendulum to once again attack his enemy. Just because Zelel was able to fight on its own didn't mean that him and morphine should just wait and let it be defeated.
"Hey, the flying crystal's back as well." Cu Chulainn said while jumping over the pendulum that would have struck him from behind if he were to do nothing. The excitement at the prospect of a more interesting fight was clear on his face.
The pendulum and Zelel moved in perfect coordination, they had to as they were controlled perfectly by Lyserg. Where one of his Over Souls would extend to strike the other would cover it and when one would attack from one direction the other would from another in a harmony that made any of his enemies think that they were fighting against way more than just a single shaman.
Excitement on Cu Chulainn's face quickly turned into a manic grin as he rapidly attacked, blocked, and dodged in a mad fight against Lyserg's Over Souls. If his order wasn't to kill the green haired dowser then he would have happily dragged it out for an entire night to continue this exhilarating feeling for as long as possible.
The Irish hero took a small hit to his side in order to get a good access to his prey but before he could make use of the opportunity he just made he suddenly stopped for a few seconds before loudly scoffing in displeasure and jumping away from the fight.
"It looks like it's your lucky day, buddy. My master has just ordered me to stop this fight and get back the moment this fight started to become interesting. Something about how you are too unimportant to risk injuries in the grand scheme of thing." Cu Chualinn shook his head lightly and sighed. "It's a pity that you aren't an enemy master. I would have loved to face the servant you would have summoned in a real fight instead."
Cu Chulainn waved his hand a little and jumped to the top of the closest building.
"I hope we will have another chance to fight, bye!"
With his farewells said, the Irish hero once again turned into his spiritual form and quickly rushed back to the church.
Lyserg, all of his spirits, and the pink haired ghost turned towards the leaving spirit. Some of them blinked a couple of times in confusion at the sudden end to their fight while others just looked at the Irish here in case he were to return to fight again but all of them stayed silent while watching the blue clad man slowly leaving their sight.
"How dare that bastard Kirei order Cu Chulainn to run away from a fight so quickly!?" The pink haired ghost screamed in anger.
Lyserg grabbed his head and grunted at the volume of the spirit he asked for help. Sadly, it was probably too late to go back to church and demand answers from the deadly priest.
He turned his head to the side in hopes of reaffirming his decisions only to see the pink haired woman whimpering something about a bastard priest spitting on the legacy of her hero and a tired sigh escaped him.
It was going to be a long night.
...
An hour or so later...
...
If anybody were to witness what was happening in Lyserg's apartment, they would have likely thought that the green haired detective was insane.
While talking with ghosts that ordinary people often mistook for talking to themselves would make anybody think that Lyserg was weird on its own, the contents of that talk would have solidified everyone's assumptions of the man's insanity.
What sort of sane man would have believed half the things that Lyserg had learned in the last few hours?
Magic being real and a secret was one thing, since shaman powers weren't that different it wasn't too hard to believe, but an idea that every few decades a secret war between seven mages and seven legendary heroes from the past took place in order to get the Holy Grail was another.
Lyserg grabbed his head to alleviate the incoming headache, he would surely have while processing all of that information, at least a little bit. That was the most outlandish idea he had heard about since learning the origins of X-Laws' archangels.
He doubted anything would beat that.
"The Holy Grail all the masters and servants are fighting for isn't actually the Holy Grail that you are probably thinking about, though." The pink haired woman, whose name he learned was Bazett Fraga, elaborated. "It's just a powerful magical artifact that collects prana and can grant anyone their wish upon activation."
Great, so at the very least he wasn't trying to solve a case with a sacred religious relic involved. Not like it would have made any real difference to him whether the Grail was authentic or not.
"You are here in order to solve the unexplained missing people cases, right?" Bazett asked, reminding him that he did in fact tell her some of the truth about him being here and not continue the lie that she had so easily believed in earlier. "If that's so then your investigation ends here, detective. Those missing people had to be unfortunate casualties of some less morally obliged master who used them to strengthen their servant."
"That might have been the case if I wasn't sent here by that person." Lyserg mumbled, not caring whether the ghost would hear him or not. "If that's all that is happening here then Hao or any previous shaman king would have already dealt with it on their own the moment it became an issue to them. Sadly, there had to be something more dangerous occurring here."
Unfortunately it didn't seem like Bazett was aware of anything else that could be wrong in Fuyuki. At least he had gotten the very basics of the situation here and didn't have to struggle while completely blind.
"You keep mentioning that title." Bazett pointed out. "Who is this shaman king that you believe that they would have been able to single-handedly deal with the entire ritual?"
"Oh, they are basically a god." Lyserg said offhandedly and used one of his hands to swat the dead guest of his apartment away while deep in thought. It wasn't like the position of the shaman king was a secret or anything.
"A god?!" Bazett's eyes were opened so wide that Lyserg was surprised they didn't fell out. "Are you some agent on the employment of a divine spirit?! The Age of Gods ended millenniums ago!"
Lyserg looked at his guest in a curious manner. Apparently the role of the shaman king wasn't as well known as he thought it was. The previous shaman king did try to be as inconspicuous with his management as possible so he supposed it was possible that not every person aware of the supernatural would know about the shaman king.
"Shaman king isn't a kami level spirit despite what you might think, although most of those divine spirits were probably related to at least one of the shaman kings in some way." Lyserg explained a little to his conversation partner. "They are simply the shamans who formed an Over Soul and can control the Great Spirit giving them the biggest authority over everything on this planet."
"T-The Great Spirit?" Bazett asked, still not understanding what Lyserg was talking about.
A small sigh escaped the green haired dowser. He didn't know what he was expecting from someone who was only learning about shamans just now but he hoped that at least Bazett would know what the most important spirit on Earth was.
"They are the pure collection of every being on Earth that has ever died and passed on to the afterlife connected by pure spiritual power. That's the spirit you are reuniting with the moment you-" Lyserg's explanation was cut short by a loud gasp of realization from Bazett.
"The Root." Bazett said shakily only to receive a raised eyebrow in response. "You are talking about the Root, the very thing that every Magi in the world is striving to reach, and you are saying that the shaman king is the person who controls it."
So that was how other supernatural communities called the Great Spirit, huh?
Lyserg wasn't really surprised at the different name the Magi gave to the Great Spirit. He was aware how little interactions there were between them and the shamans, the only reason he was aware of the Clock Tower's existence at all was because he purposefully searched for dangerous cases that could be supernatural in order to make the world a better place.
The chance of Magi stumbling upon anything related to the shamans was probably even smaller than that. Especially since, unless there's a huge tournament with the prize of becoming the next god going on, most of the shamans tended to have a rather reclusive and peaceful lifestyle.
"Who would have thought that something that Magi struggled with for centuries was already accomplished by you guys? I wonder how the most prestigious and arrogant lords of the Clock Tower would have reacted if they heard that. True Magic suddenly became a lot less impressive after learning all of that." Bazett said with a hollow look in her eyes.
"If it makes you feel any better, then I can tell you that the Shaman Fight, the tournament responsible for choosing a shaman king, happens only every five centuries and nobody is sure how it even began so it's not like the shaman kings aren't a big deal for us." Lyserg said with a comforting tone.
A groan echoed through the room as the Magus ghost hid her face into her hands.
"And it's repeatable." Bazett complained loudly. "Please, let's just change the topic before you tell me that a chance to take control of the Root happened recently and the only reason I couldn't participate was because I wasn't a shaman."
An awkward cough escaped Lyserg but Bazett decided to ignore that for her own mental health.
"How about you tell me what's your plan going further? I don't imagine you are just going to infiltrate the church to find out what Kirei's hiding, if what you said about this being a concern to a shaman king is true then that bastard priest likely isn't the issue here." Bazett said curiously.
"I don't think he's the culprit either." Lyserg nodded slightly. "It's probably something related to the ritual though so we sadly will have to interact with him a couple more times. For now I think we should investigate if there's something off about this Holy Grail War in particular compared to the previous ones, the issue might be in the ritual itself rather than with any of the participants."
"I believe you should start looking with the three founding families of the Holy Grail War then. If there's something wrong with the Grail or the ritual then at least one of them will for sure have to know about it." Bazett suggested helpfully.
"The founding families?" Lyserg asked before quickly reaching for a notebook to write anything important down. He wouldn't want to miss anything important simply because he forgot the surname of some Japanese Magi family.
"They are the three families that were responsible for creating the Holy Grail War." Bazett nodded and Lyserg rolled his eyes a little at her stating the obvious. "They are the Matou, Einzbern, and Tohsaka families. Right now you should have been able to find their representatives in the tournament somewhere in Fuyuki."
A slightly surprised look appeared on Lyserg's face as he heard that. He certainly didn't expect that he had already met not one but two of the possibly most important information sources he had in Fuyuki.
"Well that's interesting, if I knew that earlier I wouldn't have pushed for more answers while talking to Illya and Sakura. Now, I doubt if they would be willing to answer more questions from me again." Lyserg said quietly.
"You already met them?" Bazett asked in surprise.
"Hm." Lyserg nodded. "I met Sakura Matou and had a somewhat short conversation with Illya von Einzbern, but at the time I only had the slightest suspicions that they might be related to the case. At this point, I don't think that they would be willing to have another conversation with me, especially after I already had quite a thorough questioning with one of them."
Considering how both of them were supposedly competitors in the Holy Grail War, Lyserg was a bit surprised that neither of them tried to get rid of him in any way. Kirei had practically sent a servant at him as a goodbye.
"It only leaves Tohsaka then." Bazett murmured before letting out a slight huff of relief. "Well, it's not that bad. The Tohsaka family are the second owners of Fuyuki so you won't even need an excuse to ask her any questions. Setting up a meeting might be a bit hard in the middle of the Holy Grail War though."
"What's a second owner?" Lyserg asked, to a slight surprise of Bazett.
"They are the person responsible for keeping all the Magi issues happening on their territory in check." The pink haired woman looked at Lyserg questioningly. "Don't you shaman people have someone like that as well?"
"Not really. The Patch Tribe was responsible for keeping everything in line during the Shaman Fight but after the next shaman king was chosen, there's nothing." Lyserg answered before adding after a quick moment of thought.
"At least if you don't count the current shaman king observing everything and making sure that the world is to his liking as an authority of sorts."
"Yeah, I guess there's no point in having people to oversee things when there's a literal god doing all of that on his own." Bazett shook her head. "I swear if even a single prominent Magi family knew of what you just told me then the Moonlight World would have been a completely different place."
"You are exaggerating." Lyserg said as he stood up from his chair and stretched a little. He was about to say something more but an unexpected notification on his phone interrupted him.
After bringing out his phone and reading the new message that was shown on it, Lyserg laughed hollowly a little before shaking his head with a wry smile on his face. When he had asked her for help earlier he definitely didn't expect her to arrive so quickly.
"What is it?" Bazett Fraga asked in curiosity.
"A friend whom I asked for a favor wrote that she's going to arrive here in a few hours. She will be here at nine in the morning to be exact." Lyserg said while turning his phone around to show the message to Bazett.
There could be something said about him giving away information a little bit too willingly at the moment but it wasn't like Bazett could harm him in the first place and with her helping him quite a lot with the investigation the least he could do was answering some of her questions.
"Is she a shaman as well?" Bazett asked again.
"Yup, she's an Itako to be exact so if you want to move on to the afterlife she's the one you have to ask for favors." Lyserg answered.
"Yeah, I will pass on that." Bazett waved her hand with a grin in a decline. "I can't wait until we meet her, now that I'm aware that the shamans aren't just some unorthodox and out of date Magi."
Once again Lyserg had a reason to feel insulted at the perception shamans gave off to the other supernatural societies but this time something else caught his attention in the statement of the pink haired spirit.
"We?"
"Exactly!" Bazett nodded with confidence before tilting her head a little. "You didn't think that I would just go back to haunting Kirei in his damned church right after learning that this Holy Grail War somehow attracted the attention of a person capable of controlling the Root, did you? Whether you like it or not, I'm coming with you for this case of yours."
"Honestly, I kinda hoped you would move on after the conversation we had." Lyserg said and after hearing Bazett boisterous laugh in response, he sighed a little. "I guess as long as you won't make anything worse then it's not going to be that bad."
"Don't worry I was quite a capable enforcer back when I was alive." Bazett grinned widely. "Trust me, I know what I'm doing."
Lyserg truly hoped she did.
He really did.
And cut!
The first fight against a servant and it didn't went that bad (even if neither side really went all out during it.) I hope that I was able to convey the relative power level stronger shamans and servants have to each other with it at least a little bit.
See ya later!
