I've been spending a lot of time recently on a different story (sorry!), but dang this one is still fun. Don't worry, I'll keep updating it. There's still a lot more to go with this one!
"'We Don't Give a Boop?' Isn't that the nighttime talk show where they make fun of...pretty much everything?"
"Yupppp," Yang responded with a laugh. "It's actually really funny."
"Then it'll be fun for you to be a guest, right?"
Yang sighed at her question and moved slightly on the sofa, the movement shifting her own legs which had been resting comfortably across Yang's lap. They'd been spending a nice quiet evening like this, with Yang filling her in on the latest news and gossip while she listened, a book held in her hands as if she might read it at any second - which they both knew she wouldn't actually end up getting to do.
"Nora is going to grill me about you though," the blonde admitted. "Like, really really grill. She's going to ask some very...private...questions that she'll expect to be answered. And if I don't answer them, it'll look like I'm hiding something."
She chewed lightly on her bottom lip while she thought about what Yang was actually trying to tell her - to expect intimate details of their relationship to be shared with the world.
"That's ok," she finally responded, giving Yang what was hopefully a reassuring smile. "I trust that you'll answer the best you can."
"Really?" Yang asked, appearing caught off guard by the answer. "I mean...I could always just make stuff up if that would make you feel better. I'm real quick on my feet like that!"
She arched an eyebrow while her girlfriend beamed at her proudly.
"Oh really? Quick - what happened to my last piece of chocolate cake last week?"
Eyes widening, Yang attempted to spit out an answer as fast as possible.
"It...uh...this big dog! Got into the apartment and -"
Yang stopped talking and flushed deeply when Blake giggled at her failure of a reply.
"That's not fair!" the blonde whined, lower lip sticking out in an adorable pout. "You know that I can't lie to you..."
She leaned forward and kissed the pout off the girl's lips.
"I'd be worried if you could," she replied with a smile before leaning back against the arm of the sofa, opening her book for what must now be the hundredth time that night. "Just answer Nora's questions honestly. It will be easiest on everybody."
She could feel Yang grinning at her through the pages of the novel and couldn't a small smile of her own from appearing.
Did she want to become the subject of a late night talk show? Not really. But she wasn't foolish enough to believe that they'd be able to keep the details of their relationship private forever. They could either deal with small pieces being leaked over a long period of time...or go with the bandaid approach and get it all over with at once.
And if Yang was happy this way, then so was she. She just...might have to avoid going online or reading a gossip magazine for a very long time - not that she regularly did either of those things, anyway.
"But on the plus side, Pyrrha finally went on a date with Jaune!" Yang continued, once again tearing her attention away from her reading. "That means we can double date with them!"
She smirked overtop of her book.
"That's great - then someone else can witness the debacle that is Yang Xiao Long trying to flirt."
"Hey! I'll have you know that I'm an excellent flirter. Just...not with you..."
She giggled and leaned forward to reward Yang with another quick kiss, realizing that at this rate she would actually get in a nice ab workout from all the sit ups she had to do to reach Yang's lips.
"It sounds like you're good at lots of things...but none of those are with me," she teased, staying in the girl's space long enough for another blush to appear on Yang's face.
"I...well, there are...some things I'm really good at doing to you…" the blonde replied in a whisper, the suggestion making Blake's heart beat furiously while the two of them locked eyes with each other - the heat between them growing exponentially over the course of a second.
Quickly, she leaned back and shoved her book back up to her face to hide her blush and shield herself from Yang's powerfully seductive gaze.
"I wonder what those things could be," she muttered quietly, staring blankly at the pages in front of her nose while listening to Yang giggle - waiting for her blush to subside.
The blonde was certainly getting better at catching her off guard - succeeding in making her blush nearly as much as Yang blushed.
And she enjoyed every minute of it.
A few seconds of silence passed and she was actually able to read the first sentence on the page before she heard Yang clear her throat gently.
"Hey, sorry I know you're trying to read...but would you maybe want to practice some lines with me?"
She lowered her book and looked at the sheets of paper Yang was holding up in front of her - the same pages the girl had been glancing at sporadically all night. Of course, with all the talking they'd been doing, she hadn't thought that Yang had gotten anymore reading done than she had.
"Sure, why not?" she answered, tossing her book onto the coffee table and accepting the papers from Yang's hands. "Should we stand up or…?"
She glanced towards their current positions, which didn't seem terribly conducive to reading through a scene in an action movie. Yang's eyes followed her gaze and she nodded her head.
"Yeah, probably best to stand up - there's some actions and motion involved."
"This sounds a lot more involved than what I thought I was signing up for," she commented playfully while standing from the sofa, watching Yang pop up beside her.
"Come on, it will be fun! You're going to read all the parts with the 'R' by them, and I'm the 'S.' And make sure to act out the parts in parentheses."
Glancing down at the paper, she saw that all of Yang's lines had already been highlighted in yellow, while hers were bare.
"Are you going to give me a little background so I know what sort of atmosphere is going on?" she asked, realizing that she had no idea what part of the movie this was in.
"Ah, you want me to set the mood, do you?" Yang asked suggestively, the girl's wink bringing another blush to her cheeks.
"Yes, please," she responded softly, glancing briefly away while trying to clear her thoughts.
"Ok, in a nutshell, we're trying to recover an ancient artifact that's been stolen by a group of super bad dudes. But instead of stashing it away somewhere safe, they're idiots and decide to hold a huge gala to show it off. We sneak in, dressed to the nines, and are going to try to steal it - but in this scene, one of the bad guys whose face I kind of smashed in earlier is approaching us."
"My character is kind of flipping out because he's going to recognize us, while your character is cool as a cucumber, per usual. Got it?"
"I think so..."
Clapping her hands together, Yang looked about ready to burst in excitement. Which was very flattering, seeing as how Blake had absolutely no experience acting.
"Alright! Mood successfully set - let's roll!" Yang said, standing directly in front of Blake, expression suddenly becoming overcome by worry.
"Dammit, dammit! He's coming right this way!" the blonde said in a forceful whisper, throwing a miniscule glance behind her as if someone were actually approaching from behind her.
Lost in awe at what she'd just experienced, she stared at Yang for a few seconds, completely forgetting that she was supposed to be reading the next line until Yang coughed and pointed towards the papers. Jolting, she quickly looked down, eyes rapidly scanning the page while she searched for what she was supposed to say next.
"Don't worry..." she said, quickly memorizing the rest of her line so she could look away from the sheet. "Don't worry - he won't recognize you."
Yang grinned at her, completely breaking character for a few seconds before falling back into her panic.
"Are you kidding? Of course he'll recognize me! I put a very sizeable dent in his nose!"
The blonde took a step closer to her, speaking in a hushed panic that put Blake on edge even though she knew Yang was only acting. She looked back at the lines for a few seconds.
"I'm sure he's had more than a few girls take a swing at him. Rolls...oh."
She rolled her eyes before continuing.
"Just don't turned around - he'll be past us in no time."
Leaning closer to her, Yang was now very much in her personal space. She could feel Yang's body heat radiating out towards her - the sensation its own unique form of comfort. All she had to do was imagine both of them wearing ball gowns to send a blush creeping up her cheeks.
Glancing down at her directions, she looked off to their right casually, pretending that she was observing the evil, broken-nosed man they were trying to hide from. After waiting for a few seconds, she turned back to Yang.
"He's gone," she said, eliciting a sigh of relief from the blonde. "Now, that wasn't so difficult, was it?"
"Easy for you to say! You're not the one he swore to barbeque if he ever saw again," Yang responded flippantly, moving slightly away from her as the danger and panic subsided. Her lilac eyes scanned the room behind Blake as if searching for something - the girl's acting once again impressing her immensely.
Finding her next line, she burst out laughing as she read it aloud.
"Y-you'd...you'd probably taste good with some barbeque sauce!" she said, unable to control her giggles, glancing down at the paper again to make sure she'd read that line correctly.
"Who writes this stuff?"
Yang laughed with her, the scene completely broken for the time being as the amateur (Blake) tried to get herself back under control.
"What, you don't think I'd taste good with barbeque sauce?" Yang asked with a wink, the suggestion instantly shutting down her giggles as a rampant blush reappeared.
God, how quickly that situation had flipped on her.
Finding salvation in her lines, she looked hastily around them before taking a step closer to Yang in order to whisper towards her, "Don't look now - he's coming back this way."
Yang's eyes widened in horror, the blonde falling back into her role naturally.
"We should run," Yang said, turning in the other direction before Blake reached out and stopped her, per the script.
"Then we lose the obelisk forever," she said, trying to force as serious of an expression as possible.
"Then what do you suggest we do?" Yang hissed at her.
Flipping her page over, she read the next instruction and lowered the sheets slowly, finding Yang grinning at her - the blonde already knowing exactly what it said.
'Kisses to distract'
Realizing she'd fallen directly into the blonde's cleverly placed trap, she let out a small sigh and obligingly leaned forward to give the girl a quick kiss on the lips. But when she tried to pull away, Yang took a step forward, one strong hand making its way behind her neck to pull her closer and deepen the kiss.
Whatever self control she'd had a few seconds earlier instantly disappeared when she felt Yang's other hand sliding up her side. She dropped the papers and buried her hands in fistfuls of golden hair, making sure to tug firmly, but not too harshly - just enough to make Yang growl lightly against her lips.
Every inch of her skin was being set ablaze as their lips remained locked together, tongues fighting each other for dominance while they used up all the oxygen in their lungs and then some. She was losing the battle, but losing usually brought its own unique set of rewards…
Her brain was beginning to shut off all unnecessary processes - leaving nothing to distract her from becoming lost in the heat she and Yang were creating. Their hands were beginning to travel everywhere, exploring for any way to draw a gasp from the other's lips. Yang's right hand released her neck in favor of -
The sound of a phone ringing made her jump backwards in surprise, bringing their moment to an abrupt, screeching halt. Frantically searching for the source of the sound, Yang practically dove towards the coffee table where she'd left her phone lying.
"Dammit Glynda…" the blonde said, silencing the device without bothering to answer. "Always knows the perfect time to call…"
She smiled when Yang looked at her, the blonde's face just as flushed as hers felt. Glancing down, she knelt and gathered up the pages that had scattered across the floor.
"Uh...so...who's part was I playing?" she finally gathered the nerve to ask, standing and handing the pages over to Yang.
"Well...you were reading Raven's lines…" the blonde admitted, suddenly looking rather uncomfortable.
The name didn't mean anything to her at first, until she realized Yang was giving her the character name, not the actresses' name.
"You mean that's Cinder's part?"
"Er...yeah...kinda..." Yang replied, shuffling the papers nervously in her hands.
"Oh..."
She didn't know what else to say. Of course Yang would have kissing scenes in movies. She'd even seen many of those in the girl's previous movies. But…
"I'm sorry. I should have said something earlier...I just - I thought that maybe if we practiced together...then when I have to do the real thing, it won't be so horrible."
She looked closely at Yang, the blonde becoming increasingly distraught by her silence. But...how could she be upset after a comment like that? This was Yang's job...she was going to have kissing scenes sometimes - that's what people wanted to see. And Blake would be lying if she said she hadn't enjoyed some of the kissing segments the blonde had done in the past.
But that didn't mean Yang enjoyed it. And it didn't mean she wanted to do it.
Reaching up, she bopped Yang lightly on the head with one hand, causing the girl to reach up and touch the spot in confusion.
"That's for tricking me into a kissing scene," she explained, before pulling Yang forward and planting another kiss on the girl's lips.
"And that's for letting me read lines with you," she whispered, refusing to let go of the front of Yang's shirt - preferring to keep the girl pressed against her for the time being.
"Just...don't kiss her like you kiss me..."
The request came out much more pleadingly than she would have liked, but any of her lingering fears were instantly dashed to pieces when Yang grinned at her - the girl gazing at her like she was the only person alive in the world.
Moving forward, the blonde quickly stole another kiss from her, lingering just long enough for fire to return to her veins - the flames never truly extinguished from earlier.
"Please…" Yang murmured against her lips, deft fingertips again maneuvering up her side.
"I'm not that great of an actress."
