With Leon.
It was almost too hard to believe but there he was, Brian Mason of Genom's boomer division dead within the power armor. It took crews hours to fish it out but now it laid on the ground surrounded by AD police. Mason was completely cold, well below 500 degrees. Daley, who stood besides Leon, let out a low whistle.
"Talk about a cold turkey," he joked. "But seriously what the hell was he doing anyway?"
Leon shrugged. "I dunno but I can wager it's not good. I wonder what happened to the guy he was after?"
Daley nodded watching paramedics pull the body from the mecha. Blood stained his clothes and face as he was pulled out. Leon had wanted to bust Mason but now that dream would never become reality. Leon breathed a deep sigh. All the computers would be useless from the insane temperature drop and the suit was already warped in areas. The whole thing was scrap.
"I wonder how Genom's gonna explain this one" Daley remarked.
Leon figured it would be Completely disavowing is actually insane he acted alone. God knows if that was really the case. With the building completely caved in, finding any usable evidence would be a nightmare. The paperwork would be far worse. Leon began towards the wreckage.
"Lets see what we can find out"
Daley began after him. "Hopefully it's enough to retire with" he grinned.
"Or a promotion"
The first date: one week ago.
The lobby wasn't filled with people, making others more distinct and easy to keep track of. Jacob breathed a deep sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose. Great, I'm getting paranoid. Moving up to the line with Linna he wished he knew what he was about to see. She wanted to surprise him. No questions were asked. I need to relax. He told himself as they moved closer to the counter. He couldn't believe he had gotten himself into this. It feels like a dream. Shaking his head he tossed the thought aside.
They got separate popcorn which was to be expected. This date had come about due to a death which had shaken both. Jacob was more troubled thanks to his failure to protect Irene's fiancé. Jacob brushed the thought away. Others would kill to be in his position, but he hadn't wanted this. Linna noticed the look in his eyes. Hesitation, unease and confusion.
"You ok?" She asked as they moved into the screening room.
Jacob gazed at her as they reached a mostly empty row. "Yeah, just feeling off" he replied.
"It'll get better from here. Just try to relax" Linna then placed a hand on his shoulder comfortingly.
It helped put his mind at ease. He smiled weakly and placed a soft kiss on her cheek. Linna's cheeks flushed red with surprise.
"Thank you…" he whispered softly.
Linna then kissed him as well, this time on his lips. Jacob didn't even question it. He let himself relax for the first time in the weeks he'd been here. Linna and himself broke apart as the projector began playing.
With Sylia.
Nene had picked the film. A musical bio pic from 2014 if she recalled. Sylia wasn't overly familiar with it to put it lightly. Nene was looking around, taking note of surprisingly low attendance. Older films were screened but they usually didn't get as much attraction as say something more newer. Sylia out of curiosity decided to look around too. Her eyes then fixed on two figures kissing two rows behind them. Even in the low lighting she could tell who they were. She then tapped Nene and pointed. Nene looked.
"Is that, Jacob and Linna?" Nene squinted as she watched.
Sylia turned back forwards. "It is. Stop staring before they see you" Sylia chided her.
Nene then looked back forwards. "I know Linna's had boyfriends before but I didn't expect this"
"It's no different to what Priss and I do," Sylia responded. "Besides, Linna needed someone more caring"
Nene agreed with a nod. "And I'm the only one left out" she lamented.
Sylia casted a side glance over to the hacker. She was a beautiful girl, One who preferred computers more rather than human contact. If she actually put in the effort she could snag a boyfriend. Sylia didn't pursue the conversation beyond this point, It would be rude to continue talking and she just wanted to relax. The past couple of weeks have been nothing but a hectic nightmare for her. Setting up someone who doesn't exist with an ID and a background wasn't easy.
Back at the present.
The number of boomer crimes was at an all time low since Mason got doused in liquid nitrogen. Sylia wasn't sure how to feel about it. She'd gotten her revenge but it felt hollow, like a part of her had been removed. She breathed a sigh as she looked out the window. A hand rested on her shoulder. She recognized it, Priss.
"Shouldn't you be asleep?"
Priss placed her arm over Sylia's shoulder. "I tried," Priss dryly said. "What's eatin ya?"
Sylia uncomfortably shifted as she took a breath. Even saying his name felt harder. Was it remorse?. No, she thought. It's just the shock of it. She watched the city skyline, lights shining bright in the night.
"I just have a feeling this wasn't how it was supposed to end for Mason. I honestly expected more"
Priss looked at her oddly. It didn't take much to know that Jacob had altered the timeline when saving Cynthia. Given how he hadn't seen the rest of it he probably didn't know he was changing anything at all. They didn't know he was changing things either.
"Please don't say that. Mason's dead. Hell, we should be celebrating" Priss replied.
Sylia looked at Priss. She was far from a therapist. It was over, Mason was dead and everyone was alive and well. Maybe taking down Genom could be obtained after all.
Sylia smirked and embraced Priss. She locked lips with the brown haired valkyrie, tongues dominating for superiority. Priss's hand slid down below the waistline. Her hand then grasped Sylia's soft rear. Sylia meekly moaned, weakening her resolve. Priss quickly took the opportunity to force Sylia onto the bed. Sylia felt Priss's free hand beginning to grope her breasts. Her fingers digging into them and massaging them. Sylia closed her eyes letting Priss handle it. Sylia moved her hand to return the love she was receiving. The moaning and groaning continued as it got more frantic and reckless. In the next room Mackie threw his pillow over his head. He sighed deeply as he closed his eyes again. I really gotta get my own place. He thought as he began to turn out the music Priss and Sylia were making.
Doc Raven's shop.
"…And on top of that the flight pack is completely dead. It'll take 4 days to completely fix the suit" the old doctor said.
Jacob nodded and leaned against the wall. He looked at the diagram on the screen which showed the areas which were badly affected by the coolant. A lot of it had to be replaced due to the extreme cold.
"That's rough," Jacob muttered as he turned his attention to the doctor. "If you need any help with this I'll be glad to assist" he offered.
The older man shrugged. "No need. Mackie's more experienced and I'd rather have you get down stairs and do some of those exercises"
Jacob nodded, deciding not to argue with the old man. That man was far more intelligent and arguing with him would probably be a nightmare.
"Anything I should know before descending into the dungeon?"
Doctor Raven shrugged. "Linna arrived with Priss just shortly before you did. Priss looked tired but that's about it"
Jacob nodded. "Must've spent the night shagging" he moved over to the door and opened it.
With Linna.
Seeing her lover enter brought a smile to Linna's face. Jacob walked over to her and hugged her. Everyone watched as he kissed Linna on the lips. Linna wanted nothing more than to be alone with him and keep going.
"Hey beautiful," he whispered. "So what's Sylia got planned for today?"
Linna kissed his cheek. "Just the usual. After we could hit the shower if ya like"
Jacob smirked upon hearing the Seductive nature in Linna's voice. "As you wish" he replied softly.
Nene wished she was in Linna's position. Embraced by a lover who cared so deeply and passionately. If only. Nene mused as she tightened her soft-suit collar. Jacob broke away moving into another room to change. Lucky Linna, Nene mused as she saw the door close. I really need a boyfriend. It was gonna be a long day.
End of chapter.
