As Kathrine's car drove along the highway, sorrow thoughts filled Skye's head. What if, no matter how nice her new owner might be, she'd still miss Kathrine?

As the car yielded at a red light, Skye trotted over to her owner, and lick her on the hand. Kathrine responded by picking her up and giving Skye a small snuggle. As the light turned green, she set the cockapoo pup back in her seat.

The car continued to race along the roads, and Skye felt more uncomfortable with each coming minute. She felt she should be having happy last moments as Kathrine's pup, but couldn't help being sad.

Shortly, the car approached a beach and halted at the road besides it. As Kathrine carried her to the beach, her tail started to wag. Maybe her last moments as Kathrine pup were going to be happy!

When Kathrine set her down, she ran around, sand beneath her paws. As she played in the sand, she noticed something bump her: a volleyball. She saw Kathrine in the direction it came from.

"Give it back to me!" she called.

Skye thought about carrying it in her mouth, but knew it would likely pop. She resorted to nosing it back. It took a few tries, but she succeeded! Kathrine gave her a treat and a pat.

After playing with the volleyball a few more times, Kathrine walked Skye to the ocean. Skye sniffed curiously at the waves that lapped at the shore.

Kathrine walked into the waves. "Come on in; it feels good!" she encouraged Skye.

Skye reluctantly stepped forward, but when the waves came back, she instinctively jumped backwards, with a yip. She tried again, and Kathrine was right! The cool water did feel nice on her paws!

They spent the rest of the afternoon, they collected shells, watched birds, and played with a frisbee. When they were all done, Kathrine walked Skye to the pier.

"I told your new owner that we would meet him here," she told Skye.

Skye nodded, understandingly.

A man with goofy glasses, an orange beanie, and rubber, yellow overalls walked past.

"Excuse me sir." Kathrine tapped him on the shoulder. "Have you heard about anybody here wanting to adopt a cockapoo pup?" she asked

"Actually, I recall a cool chap, called Ryder, chattering, concerning collecting a cockapoo. Yours comes across as a courageous cutie," he answered, giving Skye a little pat on the head. "Believe me, he's a bouncy, but bright and benevolent boy! I hold he's hurrying here now!"

"Okay, thank you very much, sir" Kathrine thanked.

After nearly an hour passed, the sun began to set.

"Well girl, it looks like your new owner won't be coming," Kathrine announced.

Skye whimpered, in disappointment.

As they started to pack up their things, a voice called "Wait!" It was a young boy, about the age of 7 years.

Once he had got near, he asked "Are you person with the cockapoo puppy?" he questioned, catching his breath.

"Yes, I am!" Kathrine responded.

Skye walked up to the boy and sniffed him.

He crouched down and soothingly said "Hey there, girl. I'm Ryder and I'm going to be your new owner!"

Skye happily yipped, "Hello!"

Kathrine picked the pup up. "Are you ready to go?" she asked.

Skye licked Kathrine on the cheek.

She handed Skye over to Ryder.

"Don't worry, I'll come visit you every now and then!" Kathrine reassured. "Oh, before you go…" She reached into her pocket, and grabbed out Skye's mouse toy.

"Mr. Squeakums!" the cockapoo pup exclaimed.

"See you later, Skye," Kathrine compassionately farewelled.

"Bye-bye, Kathrine," Skye said.

"Don't worry, girl; I'll make sure to take great care of you!" Ryder relieved.
