Chapter 55: It's Going to Be Okay
"Dawsyn's asleep..." Meredith yawned, walking into the bedroom, shutting the door after a long night of helping the younger girl do the real packing. She walked in, sitting one of Dawsyn's sweaters in the hamper.
"Did she finish packing?" Derek asked, looking up from the medical book he was reading.
"Just about." Meredith replied, pulling her hair out of the ponytail, before walking towards the bed.
"I think she brought just about everything out of her room."
"She did...I had to explain why she couldn't bring her posters to show your mom."
"Think she's excited?" Derek laughed.
"I think so." Meredith giggled, sliding under the covers. 'Oh...that reminds me. We got the Hello Kitty alarm clock, right? I can't remember and she really liked that..."
"Yeah. I picked it up last week." Derek replied, kissing her cheek.
"Okay...good."
"And I got that Jonas Brothers watch."
"Good...she asked me yesterday for a tiara."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah...I took her to the mall to pick up Izzie's present and she saw one in the window of that dressup store."
"Oh god." Derek laughed. "Well, she is princess Daws."
"I know." Meredith giggled, before turning off the light on her side of the bed. "Oh, Izzie reminded me that even though she's twelve...I need a Mommy bag for the plane because the trip is so long."
"Do you think she's going to be okay on the plane?"
"I hope...she gets motion sickness, but I can give her something for that before we leave."
"I have her iPod in my bag so we can give her that when we get on."
"And Izzie said I should take snacks...a few things to entertain her." Meredith sighed, leaning into his arms. "It's such a long ride."
"Hopefully she'll sleep for some of it since we're leaving early." Derek said, rubbing Meredith's arms.
"I picked up a few coloring books and crayons...and some different travel sized snacks and crosswords."
"I brought some medical books...I have some research to do while we're gone so she might like to look at those..."
"Oh and I bought cards for her to play Go Fish."
"I love Go Fish."
"Then you can play with her." Meredith giggled.
"I will." Derek laughed. "I was the Go Fish champion when I was a little kid."
"Oh okay."
"I was. You can ask my sisters."
"I believe you."
"Hmm...Are you nervous?"
"No. Your mother could hate me...your sisters could hate my clothes and your nieces and nephews could hate Daws..which...well Daws makes friends anywhere but still...No not nervous."
"It's going to be fine." Derek whispered.
"Hmm...'
"I love you so they're going to love you too."
"They could change your mind."
"No way."
"They know we're living together?"
"Yes they do."
"Okay...okay."
"I promise you it's going to be fine." Derek whispered, kissing her lightly.
"I'm not...your mother might not like things about me."
"What is there for her not to like?"
"The waitress thing...Dawsyn's Dad thing..."
"She wouldn't have wanted you to come if she thought those things, Mer."
"But she could." Meredith whispered, her hands lacing with his.
"My mom wants me to be happy...and you make me happy." Derek whispered.
"Derek..."
"I mean it."
"Okay..." Meredith whispered. "And you...I mean she knows Daws believes in Santa? Because I know...she's ten but I can't take that away from her."
"She knows...I think my mom still believes in Santa." Derek chuckled.
"Oh..."
"They're going to love you and Daws."
"Hmm...'
"You two...You're my family." Derek whispered.
"I...thanks." Meredith whispered.
"Don't worry, okay?"
"Trying not to..."
"Good..."
"Okay."
"I can't wait to show you off to them." Derek smiled.
"Daws asked me if she could tell your Mom about what we would name her baby brother or sister." Meredith giggled.
"Oh god." Derek laughed. "What did you tell her?"
"I told her that since I wasn't pregnant...we weren't going to talk about that for a long while."
"My mom will probably ask anyway."
"Great." Meredith giggled.
"It's a good thing." Derek laughed.
"Well...next summer we can worry more about that..."
"Yeah..."
"I mean I have to start my classes...the ones I need you know?" Meredith asked. "But apparently according to your plan...I get pregnant during the year."
"Yes you do." Derek smiled.
"Which makes the classes hard, but I found out that I only need a year or twos worth of classes to get my degree."
"We can wait...if you want..."
"We'll see...maybe I'll take one class this summer or something."
"Daws wants to go to summer camp...so it would make classes easier for you."
"I would still be working but a night class wouldn't be so bad."
"Whatever you do...I'm behind you."
"I bet you are." She smiled.
'I am." He whispered.
"Izzie said I should just get pregnant now so that I have the baby before I go back to school but...that's too much for us right now."
"Izzie is baby crazy."
"Hmm...she said she could babysit when I took night classes since the bakery will be closed after seven."
"What about me?"
"You have shifts."
"I can cut down..."
"No..."
"No?"
"It's your job Derek."
"It would still be my job."
"I know but you can't just not work nights because of the baby."
"The baby." Derek smiled.
"That doesn't yet exist so don't get that smile on your face."
"I love you."
"Love you..."
"I'm so happy." He whispered.
"Hmm...me too."
"You make me...very happy."
"You're getting cheesy now."
"I'm serious."
"Okay." She giggled.
"Love you." He smiled, kissing her cheek.
"We'll figure all of this out right?"
"We will."
"Okay."
"Okay."
"And we have a lot of other things to worry about because this is still so new, and people might think we're rushing."
"People like my family?"
"Maybe." Meredith whispered.
"Meredith...Look at me."
"Well Derek they...I've only known you since late August and it's December and..."
"What they think of you...isn't going to change what I think of you...I'm in love with you. They're not going to change that."
"They probably think you're my sugar daddy or something."
"I'm not that old."
"Yeah but August to December isn't that much time and we're living together and my daughter is calling you her Dad and...it's so soon."
"I don't care."
"And I'm a waitress."
"That's not going to matter."
"Your family might think I'm just using you and I...Derek I want things with you and I know it's early and that scares me. But I just...this is really fast and that's okay with me now but...they might not get that."
"You do realize that I've talked to them, right? That you're not just going into this blindly?'
"And they know that you're going to build a house for us?"
"They do."
"Okay..."
"They also know that I am madly in love with you." Derek whispered.
"We'll see."
"Mer...I promise you...I swear to you, that it's going to be fine."
"And I just said we'll see...thats all."
"Please try not to worry." He whispered, kissing her forehead.
"I'm not..." She whispered.
"Just...relax..."
"I'm relaxed...I'm taking stuff for Daws on the plane...I'm almost packed...we leave in a few days."
"Everything...is going to be fine." Derek repeated, kissing her.
"Hmm...we'll see."
"We will..."
"Yeah." She whispered.
"Mmmhmm..."
"And what they don't like about me..." Meredith whispered against his lips. "Will be made up by Dawsyn."
"They're going to love you..." Derek breathed, wrapping his arms around her.
"Hmm...okay."
"I love you..."
"I love you too..." She looked up at him.
"You're just...you're it." He whispered.
"You...for me too."
"Forever."
"Yeah."
"I love you..." He repeated, deepening the kiss.
"Love...Mmm..."
"Mmm..."
"Goodnight?"
"Very good night..."
"Dawsyn's sound asleep."
"Mmhmm."
"Are we going to bed?"
"No."
"Derek..." She moaned, as he pulled his own shirt over his head.
"I love you...so much..." He whispered, tossing his shirt to the side, moving on top of her.
"The box...it's downstairs...and...never mind."
"Hmm?"
"Nothing." Meredith whispered, her hands moving to his shoulders.
"Okay." Derek breathed, moving his lips to her neck as his hands ran up and down her thighs.
"Derek..." She moaned, turning her head a little as she tried to push her sweatpants down. "Help..."
"Okay..." He chuckled, slowly pulling the big sweatpants off her and tossing them onto the floor.
"Hmm...thanks."
"Very welcome."
"Mmm...Derek..." Meredith placed a hand behind his head.
"Yeah?"
"Nothing..." She whispered, pressing her lips against his.
"Mmm...Ohh..." He moaned, pushing down his shorts.
"Oh!" Meredith gasped, feeling his throbbing erection on her bare stomach.
"Mer..." Derek breathed kissing her gently as he slowly entered her.
"Oh...oh God..."
"Ohh..."
"I...oh...love you." She gasped, kissing him hard, her tongue thrusting into his mouth.
"Mer...Ohh..." He moaned into her mouth, moving his tongue in the same rhythm as their bodies.
"Derek..." She purred, her hands moving onto his sides.
"Mmm..."
"Oh my..."
"I love...I love you..."
"Yeah...oh..." Meredith moaned, her fingers circulating around to his back as she ran her foot along his leg. "Love you..."
"Oh god..." He moaned, moving in and out of her.
"Derek...Derek..." She moaned against his lips, sucking lightly on his lip as he thrusted himself in and out, her body shaking slightly.
"Ohh..."
"Love you..." She moaned, her hips gyrating beneath him. "Oh..."
"Love you too...Ohh..." He moaned, his whole body trembling.
"Derek!" Meredith screamed; her eyes were closed tightly as she shook.
"Mmm..."
"Derek!" Oh my..." Derek slammed his lips against hers, stopping her from screaming out loud.
"Mer...Oh god..." Derek moaned emptying into her as he stifled her scream.
"Oh..." Meredith continued to shake beneath him, feeling his mouth against her chest as he came down from his orgasm. "Derek...I...oh..."
"Mer..."
"I...oh..."
"Oh...I love you...I love you..."
"You too...and I...mmm..." She pressed her lips back against his.
"That...amazing..." He whispered.
"I don't want you to move." She whispered, holding him inside of her.
"I...stay like this..."
"That...wow."
"Hmm..."
"I...I love you and I'm starting to feel cheesy."
"It's contagious."
"Yeah...yeah I guess so." She swallowed, holding him close to her as she kissed him lightly. Her fears weren't washed away, but he did a pretty good job at containing them and keeping her safe. He made her feel like a million bucks and for once, she felt like he could take care of her, when she was just afraid.
