Disclaimer: This story is mostly written from a human (or scavenger depending on what you prefer) perspective especially during the beginning, but it will also include a fair share from the dragon point of view later on.

Also, I know that this story is categorized as Sci-Fi, but it's actually steampunk. There was sadly no tag for that.

That's all I have to say, for now, enjoy the story (Which I hope you also will :3).

[Location: A tower on an unknown continent]

A person was running up the stairs, having only one goal in mind. He had to reach the top of the tower and activate the machine before his pursuers caught him.

Only 20 meters remaining…

He could hear his pursuers behind him. They were small but fast… and deathly. They knew that if he succeeded they would no longer have a chance of winning.

15 meters remaining…

There! He could see the dim light shining through one of the windows. If he could get through the door he would be safe. Something flew past him, missing his head by centimeters.

10 meters…

He had finally arrived at the top… but he wasn't safe yet. A few more meters separated him from the door. A straight sprint, but without any cover.

5…

Something crashed into him from behind sending him barreling into the fence that surrounded the top of the tower. The fence groaned under the punishment, and the sea loomed like empty darkness beneath him.

Despite being dazed he knew what had happened. His persuaders' hat caught up to him.

He pulled his weapon to defend himself, but that little movement was too much. The fence broke and a bit later he fell.

A few seconds passed in which he was hovering freely in the air. The black darkness of the ocean beneath him was the last thing he saw before he collided with the water, the world going darker than the night sky above…

[Location: A small human harbor in Pyrrhia]

Robin was on his daily patrol at the outskirts of his home, keeping an eye out for dragons that usually roamed the area.

So far he had an all-clear, but being cautious never hurt in this world, and from experience, he knew that a single moment of not being alert could make a difference in the game of life and death for both himself and the people of his town.

It was due to this that he noticed a dim light from some kind of reflective surface on the beach. While there was a bit of a distance between it and his town, curiosity got the better of him and he carefully sneaked closer to inspect it.

He didn't expect what he was to find. At first, he thought it was some weird metal and wooden puppet, but then he noticed that the puppet was breathing.

It was a human, likely having been washed ashore by the ocean and he was wearing some kind of to him unknown armor from wood, leather, and an unknown metal which covered every single part of his body.

Deciding to keep questions for later Robin picked the stranger up and started dragging him back to the village before the dragons could find him instead.

This is my first story, and I'm not sure if it's good or bad. If you have any tips for improvement of my writing I would be happy to hear them. :-)
