It was a quiet night in the city as the trio soared across the skyline. Lex and Broadway veered downwards a bit as Brooklyn, carrying Willow in his arms, followed suit. She had one arm around his neck and another outstretched, a big smile on her face.
"I will never get over how amazing this feels."
"It's pretty amazing," Brooklyn admitted. "Especially in this new city. It's so vast. So vibrant…"
"Agreed," Lex declared. "There's so much to see and explore."
"And eat," Broadway chimed in. "think we can get some more of that pizza stuff while we're out?"
"Figures that's where your mind goes to," Brooklyn remarked.
"What? I know good food when I taste it."
"Y'know, Owen's apparently working on some homemade pizza recipes," Willow spoke up. "The turtles were excited to try it, and we can put whatever we want on it."
"Awesome!"
As they continued flying, Lex suddenly caught sight of something on the streets below.
"Hey guys!" he called out. "Check this out!"
He veered down, heading for the streets as the others followed after. Lex landed on a rooftop and peered over the edge as the others landed.
"What's up, Lex?" Brooklyn asked.
"See for yourself," Lex replied, pointing to the ground.
The others looked to see a group of identical looking men in suits carrying containers that had some weird glowing green substance in them.
"What is that stuff?" Brooklyn questioned.
"I'm more concerned about the Men in Black," Willow spoke up. "Humans are not supposed to look that identical. They're giving me the creeps."
"What do you think they're doing?" Broadway inquired.
"I dunno…" Lexington let out, "but whatever it is, I've got a bad feeling about it."
As Lex leaned in closer, his claw accidentally slipped, causing some of the bricks on the roof to break loose and fall to the ground. They landed near the feet of the men, causing them to look up and see the four of them.
"Oops," Lex let out.
"Kraang," one of the men spoke up. "Observe the creatures in the place that is known is that place."
"Kraang observes the creatures in the place that is the place pointed out by Kraang," a second man responded in the exact same voice. "Kraang must bring the ones known as the unknown creatures back for Kraang."
The men each suddenly pulled out strange looking guns and opened fire, causing bolts of pink energy to be blasted at the group and forcing them to take cover.
"What kind of weapons are those?!" Lex cried out.
"I don't know!" Willow admitted. "I've never seen weapons like these before!"
"Well we aren't gonna find out if we're just sitting around getting shot at!" Brooklyn declared. "Willow, stay down. We've got this."
Willow nodded as the three leapt down, dodging the blaster fire as they glided to the ground. Lexington touched down first, using his tail to whip one of the men back into a wall. Broadway touched down next, picking up another man and throwing him into some garbage. Brooklyn took his turn, gliding in close and ramming into one of them. As he touched down, a fourth man grabbed him from behind, pinning his arms and wings.
"Stronger than you look," Brooklyn noted.
After a bit of struggling, Brooklyn finally broke free and reached behind, grabbing the man by the face and throwing him over his shoulder into some trash cans. As Brooklyn polished himself off, he looked down and saw that his claw had caught some of the skin from the man's face. He looked back as the man stood back up, revealing that under his skin was some kind of metal frame with a glowing pink eye to compliment it.
"What on earth?!" Brooklyn let out in shock.
"It's a robot!" Lexington exclaimed. "Like those Steel Clan bots Xanatos made!"
From the roof, Willow starred in complete awe. "I knew those things were creepy."
The four robots continued opening fire on the Gargoyles, prompting them to move out of the way.
"I think we've seen enough of these things," Brooklyn decided. "Let's grab Willow and get out of here!"
"Hold on!" Lexington dove for one of the containers, snatching it up. "Alright, let's go!"
The three then made their way back up the side of the building, Brooklyn grabbing Willow before they took off. The four robots watched on as the gargoyles vanished into the night, curious about what they had seen.
…
Later, the four of them returned to the Eyrie Building, informing Goliath and Hudson about what they had encountered. All of them were talking over one another, with Lexington still clutching the canister.
"Alright, alright," Goliath spoke, getting them to be quiet. "Now, will one of you tell me what happened?"
"We were out in the city when we came across what we thought were just weird men in suits," Brooklyn explained.
"But they were actually more robots," Willow added. "There had to be at least a dozen of them, disguised as normal humans."
"And they had this stuff," Lexington chimed in, holding out the canister.
Hudson scowled at the container, shaking his head.
"Some form of potion, I'd wager. And a nasty one at that. I suggest ye get rid of it, and soon."
"But what did those robots want with it?" Lex wondered. "There has to be more going on here."
"Perhaps our turtle allies can answer a few things," Goliath suggested.
"Good thing they gave me this then." Willow fished into her pocket and pulled out a small device that looked like a turtle shell. "Mikey called it a Shell Cell, I think…"
…
Down in the lair, the four turtles were all balancing on six foot high poles, doing their best to keep from falling to the ground.
"Remind me, what exactly is the point of all this?" Raph questioned. "I don't see us fighting the Foot on tent poles."
"That is because you lack something that this very lesson is meant to teach," Splinter instructed, landing on one of the poles. "The way of balance. An essential discipline for a ninja to master."
"Sensei's got a point, Raph," Leo remarked. "You are tremendously unbalanced."
"I'll balance you!" Raph retorted, taking a swing.
Leo caught the swing as Splinter leapt onto a closer pole, whacking Raph on the head.
"I trust this proves my point," Splinter remarked. "Now my sons… defend yourselves."
Splinter leapt forward, swinging his stick at Leo, forcing him to backflip out of the way. He landed in a splits between two poles, pushing himself. Splinter then turned and jabbed his stick at Donnie, forcing him to duck and try to sweep his legs out from under him. Splinter leapt out of the way, prompting Donnie to balance himself on the pole. Splinter then landed and took a swing at Raph, prompting Raph to block it before taking a swing. Splinter caught the fist and pushed him back, causing him to fall backwards. Raph grabbed two poles with his hands and another two with his toes, hoping to keep himself up. Splinter then turned towards Mikey, taking a swing at his head, which he ducked under before taking another swing at his feet, prompting Mikey to flip over and land on one foot, careful to balance himself. Mikey smirked in response, only for a rock song to play out from his shell cell, much to everyone's surprise.
"Michelangelo!" Splinter spoke up. "What have I told you about phones during training?"
"What?! I can't hear you over my phone!"
Splinter rolled his eyes as Mikey answered it.
"Michelangelo party line. This is the chuck master. What's the haps?"
"Hey Mikey, it's Willow. No one else was answering their phones. Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, we're just doing some training. What's going on?"
"Come by the Castle. We've got something you need to see."
"We'll be right there," Mikey replied before hanging up. "Guys, Willow's got something going on."
"Like what?" Raph asked, struggling to stay in the air.
"She didn't say. She just said we needed to come over. Must be pretty big.
"Guess we'd better look into it," Leo decided before turning to Splinter. "Uh, Sensei?"
Splinter sighed. "We will resume your training when you return. Go."
With that, Raph finally dropped to the ground, groaning in pain.
…
Sometime later, the turtles arrived at the Eyrie Building quickly making their way up to the castle where the Gargoyles were waiting.
"Hey guys," Leo greeted. "What's up?"
"The young ones encounter a strange group of robotic men while out on patrol," Hudson explained, gesturing to the aforementioned group. "We were hoping ye could shed some light upon their discovery."
"Robotic men?" Donnie repeated. "Did they speak in a strange repetitive pattern?"
"Yeah, actually," Broadway confirmed.
"And they had this stuff," Lexington added, holding out the canister and causing the turtles to go wide eyed.
"Mutagen!" the turtles cried out.
Donnie immediately snatched the canister away from Lex, who recoiled in shock as it was ripped from his claws.
"Whoa, easy there," the olive-skinned gargoyle let out. "What's got you spooked?"
"This stuff is dangerous," Donnie explained. "This is mutagen. It's what made the four of us into what we are today."
"Whoa," Broadway let out. "Really?"
"For real," Mikey confirmed. "One drop of that stuff, and you could get four arms, or razor sharp teeth…" He seemed to think more on the idea, side-eying the mutagen, "or massive muscles… or cool super powers…"
"Or you could turn into a gelatinous glob monster with little to no sentience," Donnie cut off, making sure to move the mutagen out of easy reach.
"So basically Mikey if he sits in front of the TV too long," Raph remarked.
"HEY!"
"And these… robots are responsible for this 'mutagen'?" Goliath asked.
"They're not exactly robots," Leo explained. "They're an alien race called the Kraang. We don't know much about them, but we know that they have plans for that ooze. And the city as a whole."
"Yeah, inside those bot bods, they're freaky alien brain blobs," Mikey told them.
"Well that's… hard to imagine," Willow commented. "I'm pretty certain aliens are just creatures from that weird space show that comes on. Star Heros or whatever."
"You mean Space Heroes?" Leo corrected.
"Hoo boy," Raph dreaded, rubbing his face as he leaned against the battlements. "Here we go…"
"Whatever it's called, it's just a weird, dumb space show."
"Dumb? Space Heroes is the best sci-fi action series ever made. I grew up on that show."
"Look, give me some Tolkien or the Bard, because the worlds they create are whimsical and steeped in wonderful lore and hijinks. All that "sci-fi" nonsense is just a bunch of rinse and repeat drivel that tries to pass itself off as riveting entertainment. In truth, it's just pointless, repetitive nonsense."
"Repetitive nonsense? Space Heroes was an inspiration for many ideas and technologies we have today. Cell phones? Space Heroes came up with that first. With their mobile communicators."
"And yet it's nothing more than a rehash of so many other sci-fi movies and TV shows." Willow rolled her eyes and turned away. "Give me a break."
"Um, not that I wouldn't love to get into a debate on sci fi vs fantasy," Donnie chimed in, "so many things I wanna say. Really, just too much. Don't we have a current situation to deal with?"
Leo shook his head in realization. "Right, the Kraang."
"I can't believe this is my life now…" Willow groaned.
"So how are we gonna find them?" Raph asked, pounding his fist.
"Let's start with where the others encountered them. You guys know the way?"
"Sure do," Broadway confirmed. "Let's go!"
…
Meanwhile, the four robots that fought the trio returned to an abandoned warehouse. Once they got inside, they proceeded to shed their skins, revealing full robotic bodies underneath. Inside their torsos, there was a brain like being with three tentacles on either side and a face on the front. Once their true forms were revealed, several other identical looking robots approached.
"What is the report that is the report of Krang?" one robot requested.
"Kraang has secured the mutagen," the first Kraang informed. "However, Kraang also encountered that which is known as interference."
"The ones called the turtles?"
"Negative. These creatures are that which is known as new."
One of the Kraang brought over a small metal device and pressed a button on it, activating a holographic image of the Gargoyles. The Kraang watched as the Gargoyles fought against the Kraang, noting their speed and strength.
"Kraang is that which is known as… impressed."
"Kraang believes Kraang could make use of the creatures that are the creatures Kraang is interested in. They could be those that are known as subjects in the testing of the mutagen that requires testing by Kraang."
"Kraang is in agreement with Kraang. Kraang will seek out the ones known as the creatures and bring them to Kraang."
…
Meanwhile, the turtles, trio, Goliath, and Willow arrived at the place the trio encountered the Kraang. They touched down, allowing the group to investigate the scene.
"So what now?" Brooklyn asked, putting Willow down.
"You said they were loading Mutagen onto a truck, right?" Donnie inquired, getting them to nod. "So, let's see where they were holding the stuff."
The group went towards the building the Kraang came out of, with Goliath grabbing the underside of a garage door and prying it open, allowing the group to enter. As they stepped inside, Goliath lowered the door, joining the hunt.
"Remember when we had to pick locks and sneak through air vents?" Mikey remarked. "Now, we have massive fantastical beasts on our side."
"Meanwhile the sci-fi shenanigans are causing us nothing but headaches," Willow quipped, side-eying Leo.
"It's not like we want to be fighting alien robots," Leo responded. "These things just happen to us. Besides, Fantasy has made our lives hell too."
"Oh really?"
"One word. Demona."
Goliath grimaced at the mention of his former mate's name. A reaction that didn't go unnoticed by the others.
"Right… sorry," Leo apologized. "Wasn't thinking…"
Goliath just turned away, resuming the search. Donnie made his way over to a nearby computer, with Lexington peering over his shoulder.
"Whatcha looking for?" the gargoyle questioned.
"From what I can tell, this was a lab for them to create and analyze mutagen," Donnie replied. "Trying to find any test results so we can figure out what they intend on using it for."
As Donnie perused through the files, he came across a text report that was written no doubt in the Kraang's alien dialect, much to the annoyance of the two.
"Ugh, what is this?" Lex let out. "Some sort of hieroglyphics?"
"Best guess, it's the written language of the Kraang," Donnie answered. "Unfortunately, I have no idea how to read it. I'll admit we haven't been dealing with the Kraang for that long."
"Maybe you can come up with a translator or something."
"Hmm… not a bad idea. We can work up a decryption program that can translate Kraang's language into our own."
"Let's download this stuff and take it back with us," Lex suggested.
"One step ahead of you," Donnie replied, pulling out a flash drive and plugging it in. At that moment however, the opposite wall was blown open, causing the group to turn and see a small squadron of the robotic men marching in.
"The creatures that are known as the creatures are to perform the action that is known as coming with Kraang," one of the Kraang demanded.
The gargoyles all just stared.
"Uh…" Brooklyn leaned over to Willow, "did you understand any of that?"
"Not even a little."
"It means we turn 'em into scrap metal!" Raph declared, drawing his sai.
"Works for me!" Broadway proclaimed, eyes glowing as he charged.
The two leapt into action, Raph plunging his sai into the chest of one Kraang, causing it to drop to the ground. Broadway meanwhile landed in front of two Kraang, grabbing them by the heads and slightly crushing them before bashing them together. The two Kraang crumbled to the ground as a result. Donnie leapt out of his chair and drew his staff, smacking a Kraang's blaster out of its hand before swinging at its head, knocking it to the ground.
Brooklyn leapt onto a nearby wall, dodging the blaster fire being dished out before leaping off and gliding down towards a Kraang, ramming right into it and knocking it into a wall. He then noticed a Kraang from behind, spinning around and slashing at it. This tore into the Kraang's chest, exposing the internal wiring of the machine as it toppled backwards.
"Okay," Willow let out as she stared at the fallen body, "I am kinda glad these things are just robots, because otherwise, that would probably scar me for life…"
Just then, there was a stirring from the stomach area, and the actual Kraang leapt out, much to Brooklyn's surprise. He caught it just before it could connect with his face, seeing it squirm and cry in anger. Letting out a yelp, Brooklyn tossed it to the ground, disorienting it before it got up and scurried away.
"Too bad," he remarked. "Cause that just scarred me for life."
As the fighting continued on, two Kraang stood off to the side watching events play out, noting the fighting styles of the Gargoyles, as well as the fact that a certain human remained out of the fight.
"Kraang, observe the one known as the human."
"Yes, Kraang is observing the one known as the human. What is the significance of the one known as the human to Kraang?"
"Kraang can make use of the one known as the human for the process that is known as testing of the mutagen that requires testing by Kraang."
"Affirmative. Kraang had also noticed that the creatures known as the creatures are that which is known as protective of the one known as the human."
"Kraang could be using this as that which is known as an advantage for Kraang."
"Kraang is in agreement with Kraang. Proceed with the plan that is the plan of Kraang."
The two Kraang moved forward, casually passing by the various fights and tussles going on around them as they made a beeline for Willow. She was quick to take notice of them and instantly tried to bolt. Unfortunately, she was wearing a fluffy blue hoodie, and the Kraang immediately latched onto the fur-lined hood. The Kraang yanked hard, pulling her hard towards them. She yelped as she choked, ending up in their grasp.
"Guys!" she shrieked. "Help me!"
The group turned towards Willow, prompting them into action. The Kraang opened fire, prompting Leo to swing his swords to deflect the blasts. Lexington leapt forward, tackling a Kraang to the ground. He looked up to see Willow being dragged towards a nearby van. He charged forward, whipping his tail to knock the Kraang to the ground, dropping Willow.
"You alright?" he asked.
"Scared out of my wits, but okay."
"Great. Let's-"
Just then, a surge of electricity coursed through Lex, causing him to drop and reveal a Kraang standing behind him with a stun bat. Willow screamed as she caught him, the heavy gargoyle crumbling on top of her. As he collapsed, two more Kraang grabbed hold of them, carrying them off towards the van. Back inside, Brooklyn was the first to notice their friends being carried off.
"They have Lex and Willow!"
"No!" Goliath cried out, charging towards the van.
The Kraang noticed this and opened fire on him, the gargoyle taking several laser blasts to the chest that forced him back. Donnie poked his head around the wall, making sure he was clear before leaping forward and throwing something at the Kraang's van. He then took cover as laser fire filled the air before the van disappeared from sight. Goliath slowly pulled himself up, roaring in fury.
"Don't worry, Goliath," Leo reassured. "We'll get them back."
"We have to…" Goliath growled, eyes still glowing as he clutched his chest. "I will not lose anymore clan mates."
"You won't," Donnie insisted. "I tagged it with a tracking device, so we should be able to follow them."
"Just one problem," Brooklyn remarked, gesturing to the sky. "Sunrise is on its way."
"Those robots will shatter Lex for sure!" Broadway exclaimed.
"Hey, we don't know that," Mikey tried to reassure. "Do we?"
"Mikey's right," Donnie chimed in. "if they wanted to destroy you guys, they would've just done it. They wanted Lex for a reason."
"But why take Willow?" Brooklyn asked.
"No idea."
"The reason does not matter," Goliath insisted as the sun began to rise. "Getting them back does."
Just as he finished talking, the sun came up, and the Gargoyles turned to stone.
"Great," Raph let out. "This again."
"Let's get them back to the warehouse first," Leo instructed. "Then we'll scope out where the Kraang are held up and try and rescue them."
"I'll get the Battle Shell," Donnie volunteered.
"Fine, but I'm calling shotgun this time!" Mikey declared.
…
Back at the Eyrie Building, Owen tapped his fingers on the desk, patiently waiting for Willow to return. He tried calling her cell phone yet again, but was only met with her voicemail.
"Hey, this is Willow. If this is Owen, leave your message after the beep and I'll get back to you soon. If it's Dad, don't even bother, I'm just going to delete the message without listening."
"Willow, it's Owen. Again. I'm just checking in since you have yet to return home. Please call me back as soon as you get this."
He hung up the phone, sitting still for a minute to ponder why she was still gone. After the incident in the park, she at least texted if she was going to be late. This time however, no such response came. Finally, he decided enough was enough. He got up from his desk, taking his glasses off and tucking them into his pocket. He walked out of the office, loosening his tie slightly as he prepared to go find Willow.
…
At the Kraang base, Willow was kicking and fighting as best she could as she was dragged into a cell, along with the statue of Lexington. The Kraang simply tossed her in, setting the statue down with her. She was immediately checking it for cracks as the door was locked. Once she was certain he was whole, she started looking around the cell.
"Come on, come on," she let out. "There's gotta be a way out of here."
She then stopped when she remembered Lex was now a statue. She grunted, kicking the door.
"But even if there was, I can't just leave Lex here…"
She slumped down onto the ground, burying her face in her hands.
"Well… might as well try to sleep. Once sunset comes, we're busting out of here."
With nothing to do but wait, that's what she did.
…
At the turtles' warehouse, the turtles slowly backed inside, with Raph and Mikey climbing out and opening up the back. One by one, they unloaded the gargoyles from the back of the van, nearly collapsing as they did.
"Okay…" Mikey lets out, wiping his brow, "if we're going to be doing this on a regular, we need to get a forklift."
"Oh yeah," Raph remarked. "And where would we get one? I don't think a construction site is just going to hand one over if we asked."
"Guys, enough," Leo admonished, shaking his head. "We need to focus. Right now, Willow and Lexington are prisoners of the Kraang, and one of them is currently a stone statue."
"Right," Donnie replied, pulling out his shell cell. "The signal's still strong. Hopefully we can get a lead on them before they do too much damage."
"Then let's haul shell!"
…
Back at the Kraang base, the Kraang were looking over live security footage from the cell where Lexington and Willow were. Their attention was locked on the stone gargoyle.
"Kraang, for what reason has Kraang made the decision that is the decision to place the object known as a statue in the place known as the holding cells?"
"Kraang is not aware that the statue that is known as the statue was once a creature that Kraang had interest in for Kraang."
"Kraang is right," a third Kraang informed. "Kraang observed that the creature known as the creature possesses tremendous strength and speed. Kraang could find this specimen useful in the plan which is the plan of Kraang."
"Kraang can see the value of the creature known as the creature. However, this information does not pertain to the question of the statue known as the statue in the place that is the holding cells."
"Kraang is unaware of how the statue that is known as the statue can transform into that which is known as the creature. Further examination will be required by Kraang."
A Kraangdroid brandished a large gun, as well as what appeared to be a drill.
"Affirmative."
…
Back in Willow's cell, her head shot up when she heard footsteps approaching. She got to her feet, watching the door as it opened. The lone Kraangdroid walked in, drill and blaster in hand. Willow glared at the robot, getting between it and Lex.
"You won't touch him…"
"Kraang is not afraid of the human that is known as human."
"My name is Willow, and I said you're not touching him!"
The Kraang just walked forward. Willow quickly ran forward, aiming a punch right at the visible alien body in the center of the exo-frame. This caused the Kraang to stagger backwards, reeling from the pain. After a minute, it regained its composure and prepared to strike. However, that's when the door suddenly closed on it, crushing the exoframe. The weapons fell from its hands, skittering across the ground before landing at Willow's feet. She blinked, then picked up the weapon.
"Well… that happened."
She quickly fired at the Kraang, blasting its head off and rendering it useless. She then wedged the drill into the opening, forcing the doors back open. Looking down the hallways, she noticed no one coming and took off.
"These things had some sort of hovering platform they used to move Lex… I need to find it so we can get out of here."
…
Outside the building, the Battle Shell quickly came to a stop, allowing the turtles to leap out and draw their weapons.
"Man, feels off doing this in the daylight," Raph commented.
"Off, but necessary," Leo insisted. "Come on, let's get our friends back."
The group made their way to the side of the building, each pulling out a grappling hook that attacked to the top. They then zipped upwards, making their way to the roof and spotting an entrance inside. Donnie quickly got to work picking the lock, opening it in record time. With the door open, the four made their way inside, proceeding quickly and quietly as not to draw any unnecessary attention. Just then, they heard a noise rounding a corner, causing them to get on guard. Leo moved towards the corner, turning towards his brothers as they all nodded in agreement. Finally, they rounded the corner, weapons at the ready, only to be met by Willow branding a Kraang gun. Upon realizing who the other was, they all relaxed.
"Guys!" she whispered excitedly. "You made it!"
"Oh hey Willow," Mikey greeted.
"How'd you escape?" Donnie asked.
"The cell door malfunctioned, I think. Completely crushed the robot guy and I snagged his weapon. Right now, I'm trying to find a hover transporter so I can move Lex."
"Good call," Leo admitted. "Any idea where they are?"
"Found 'em!" Mikey called from a nearby room.
The others joined Mikey, who came riding out of the room on one of the hover carts. He grinned as he hopped off, leaning on the handle.
"Now this is so much better than a forklift!"
His elbow accidentally hit a button, causing the cart to move forward and make him fall to the ground.
"I'm okay…"
Willow took hold of the cart, taking control.
"Follow me. I had to leave Lex alone in the cell."
…
The five of them quickly made their way back towards the cell Lex was in. As they rounded the corner, they were greeted by several Kraangdroids.
"The ones called the turtles and the human that wishes to be known as Willow will that which is known as surrender to Kraang."
"Well, at least they got my name right this time." Willow smashed her hand down on the button Mikey had hit before, shooting the cart forward. "Come on!"
Mikey leaped onto the cart, swinging his chucks at the oncoming Kraangdroids, taking them down in rapid succession. With the way clear, they grabbed the cart and rushed forward. Soon, they reached the cell with the malfunctioned door.
"Can you guys buy me some time?" Willow asked.
"Like you have to ask," Raph remarked, spinning his sai.
The turtles moved out as more Kraangdroids arrived at the scene, opening fire on them instantly. Donnie leapt up in the air, bringing his staff down hard on a Kraang before spinning it and jabbing it to a Kraang behind him, nailing it in its brain blob face and causing it to topple over. Raph dodged and weaved between the laser blasts before reaching a Kraangdroid and stabbing it in the base of the neck, shorting it out and causing it to topple over. He then turned around and chucked his sai at another Kraang, nailing it between the metal eyes and pinning it to a wall.
Mikey ran towards a Kraangdroid before dropping to the ground and sliding between its legs, ending up behind it so he could kick its legs out from under it, knocking it to the ground. He then pulled out his nunchaku and swung it at another Kraangdroid, knocking the blaster out of its hands before kicking it in the chest.
Willow, meanwhile, was trying her best to shove Lexington onto the hover platform without cracking or chipping him. He was heavy, and she was just a human. As she got him about halfway on, some Kraangdroids came through a second door. She yelped, pulling the gun from her back and firing. She managed to hit them, but more were coming.
"Guys! A little help?!"
Leo looked up from stabbing a Kraangdroid in the chest, seeing the reinforcements coming through the secondary entrance. He quickly dashed forward, rushing past Willow so he could cut into the oncoming Kraangdroids, taking them out in rapid succession. With that handled, she continued getting Lex onto the cart, gasping once he was finally on.
"I got him!" she shouted. "Let's go!"
The turtles nodded as they began rushing towards the exit, with the Kraang in hot pursuit. They quickly rounded the corner and made their way toward a door leading outside. Raph leaped off and kicked it open, only for more Kraang to be waiting for them on the other side.
"Aw shell…" he let out, slowly backing away.
The group was surrounded on all sides by the Kraang, all with their blasters at the ready.
"So… this is how it ends, huh?" Mikey lamented.
"We're not out yet," Leo braced, gripping his swords.
"Considering we're surrounded on all sides by aliens ready to blast us to pieces," Willow reminded. "How long do you think we'll last?"
Leo looked out the open door, seeing the sun slowly starting to set. "Just a few more minutes."
Willow looked out as well, smiling as she started firing at the Kraang. The turtles quickly joined in, swinging their weapons at the enemy combatants. Leo deflected some laser blasts with his swords before slicing into a Kraangdroid, cutting it in half. Mikey bounced around to avoid the laser shots before balancing on the handle of the hoverpad, kicking a Kraangdroid in the face. Raph just charged up to a Kraangdroid and stabbbed it in the chest repeatedly before kicking it into another Kraangdroid. Donnie leaped over the blasts before using his staff to sweep a Kraangdroid off its feet. He then brought the staff down on the droid, slamming it to the ground. Leo sliced at another Kraangdroid, looking back out to see the sun was nearly set.
"Just a little more…" Leo whispered.
"The ones called the turtles and the human known as Willow will soon no longer exist in the place that is this place," A Kraangdroid declared, aiming its weapon. "Or any places."
"Wait!" Mikey cried out, getting the Kraang to pause.
The Kraang looked at each other for a moment before looking back at the group, readying their weapons. Just then, there was a cracking sound. They turned toward Lexington to see the statue starting to crack. Finally, Lex broke free of his stone skin, leaping forward and tearing into the Kraang.
"Alright!" Donnie cheered.
"Didn't see that one coming, didja Kraang!" Mikey jeered, pulling down an eyelid as he stuck out his tongue.
The group continued fighting off the Kraang, tearing through them with relative ease now that Lexington had joined them.
"Glad to see you back on your feet, Lex," Donnie greeted.
"Glad to be back," Lex replied, whipping his tail at a Kraangdroid.
"Come on, we need to get out of here," Leo insisted. "Lex, can you carry Willow?"
"No, I can't. My wings aren't built for passengers."
"Then we do this the old fashioned way. Mikey, smoke bombs!"
"On it!" Mikey declared. He pulled out several smoke bombs and chucked them at the ground.
The entire room became clouded in smoke as the heroes made their escape, much to the annoyance of the Kraang. The Kraang walked outside to search, but found no sign of them.
"The ones called the turtles and the allies of the ones called the turtles are no longer in the place that is this place," one Kraang lamented.
"Kraang can learn much from the one known as Lex," a second Kraang suggested. "The one known as Lex's ability to transform could be useful to the plans that are the plans of Kraang."
"Kraang will have to learn about the creatures that are the allies of the ones called the turtles," a third one declared. "So that the ones known as the turtles can become the ones known as the turtles that are… destroyed."
…
Later, the turtles, Willow, and Lex met back up with the rest of the clan at the warehouse, filling them in on what had transpired.
"We owe you four much," Goliath told them.
"Eh, you guys would've done the same for us," Raph remarked, leaning against a wall.
"I gotta admit, this thing came in seriously handy," Willow remarked, holding up her stolen rifle. "Maybe there's some good in all that Sci-Fi stuff after all."
"Same can be said for fantasy," Leo added. "We'd all be toast without Lex coming to the rescue."
"Eh, it was nothing," Lex reassured. "Still, those things are super dangerous."
"Oh we know," Mikey replied.
"And now they know about you guys," Donnie added. "Meaning we're probably going to be seeing alot more of them."
"We will be ready," Goliath reassured.
"And you'll have us watching your back," Leo added.
Just then, Willow's phone started ringing, making her gasp. "Oh no! Owen! Oh, I was gone all day!"
Mikey tossed Willow her bag and she fished out her phone.
"Owen! Owen, it's okay! I'm okay."
"Good. I was worried when you didn't answer my earlier calls. What happened?"
"Um… Something came up with the turtles and I… ended up crashing. Sorry…"
…
Outside of the Kraang facility, Owen slipped his glasses back on, tossing some broken wires into a nearby dumpster.
"I see. Well, so long as you're unharmed. But please be more mindful of yourself in the future. I worry about you greatly."
"Will do," Willow's voice replied. "I'll be home soon."
"I'll have dinner ready when you get there." He hung up the call and straightened his tie, looking down at his phone, which contained pictures of the Kraang. His eyes narrowed before he pocketed the phone, stepping out onto the street and heading for home.
