Hello everyone!

This text was written for the event "HALLOWEEN PARTY" proposed by the group "Papotage, écriture, lecture et bonne humeur". We had three lists: one with words, one with creatures and one with situations or actions. We had to choose one item in each list and create a story with them. If it's a story with chapters, a group with three different items is needed for each chapter. This event runs from Saturday 12 September to Sunday 1st November.

For this text I chose the items: Door/Clown/Waking up chained to a table

Pain... Cold… were the first thoughts that came to Danny's mind. The pain was in his head, a dull pounding ache, made him feel like his head was an enormous bell. His back was racked with pain and the crude table on which he was lying didn't help with it. His eyes were closed and something gluing them shut. The room where he was was cold but his feeling came from inside him, not from the room. A horrible doubt came to his mind. If the cold came from inside that certainly meant he was injured.

Danny tried to move but realized he was chained to the table. The anxiety rose inside him at the same time as his memories came back to him.

They were investigating a series of murders. At each murder scene they had found a clown's red nose. While they studied the last crime scene, they had been attacked by four clowns. Danny remembered seeing Steve being hit by a bullet. Then, a shock on the back of his head and the blackness.

So he had been kidnapped, Steve was injured or dead, and he was attached to a table in a cold room. He had to open his eyes to find a way to escape from this situation.

Painfully, he forced his eyes to open, realizing that it was blood holding them shut. The room was a small garage, with a few small windows at the top of the walls. Too small for him to escape by this way. A three-step stair led to a door, the only door he could see. Around the table there were a lot of tools on two workbenches: saws, wrenches, chisels, drills… Danny prefered not to imagine what these tools could be used for.

A voice was raised on the other side of the door. By the gaps in the conversation Danny could hear. The policeman concentrated, he wanted to understand what this discussion was about. He froze when he found out that the man asked about killing him or not. At the end of the call Danny still didn't know what was going to happen to him.

The light was fading. The whole night the prisoner tried to find a way to open his chains without success. When he saw the first lights of the sunrise he was exhausted and terrified. He was still stuck on this table and had no hope to escape.

Suddenly a lot of noise came from upstairs. Danny listened carefully but couldn't guess what created it. The door's handle of the garage moved. Danny panicked. Were they coming to tortured him or to kill him? He pulled desperately on his chains but couldn't get free. The door opened. Danny froze. He held his breath. He stared at the door, terrifying. His heart beat so hard that Danny thought he would faint.

With relief he saw Chin once the door opened. His friend was in assault gear and followed by the S.W.A.T.. Danny let his breath out and his head lay onto the table. He felt he was almost passing out but he concentrated not to. He heard Chin call for doctors and come closer to him.

"Steve?" Asked Danny in a whisper.

"He is in the hospital, out of danger."

Danny smiled. He was safe, Steve was safe, he could take a rest. He didn't feel the pain anymore nor the cold while the darkness surrounded him.
