Gamma was for once not welding or assembling something in his workshop. Instead, he was busy with the whetstone, having to spend multiple hours focusing on sharpening the blade of a circular saw, putting a lot of effort into each tooth individually making sure that they were as sharp as he could manage.

It wasn't an easy task whatsoever as he had used reinforced steel, the hardest metal he had the resources to produce at this given time. He had preferred titanium or an alloy variant of the metal, but this was a decent alternative so he wouldn't complain.

Who did complain however were the neighbors as it had turned out that whetstones were just as effective at keeping them awake as power tools.

He rubbed his sore arms as he lifted the circular blade up inspecting his work for any flaws that might compromise it later. As he found none he placed it to the side with a feeling of satisfaction. It had taken him quite some time, but he had finally managed to complete the 15cm in radius component.

With that finished he turned his attention to a modified handle of the compressor-axe as he had named it by now, the foldable combat axe he had made for Robin. While the handle of the normal weapon was able to retract and fold to a compact size, this one had lost that ability as multiple metal plates had been attached to provide better armor.

He had kept it hollow however and added a small pressure canister into it to store some energy similar to how the power tools operated.

The axe blade had been removed as well and replaced by a frame that had been modified to be able to fit the saw.

The handle was a lot thicker now but still, a reasonable weight despite being mostly out of metal except for the grip which was surrounded by leather to prevent it from slipping when you held it.

He took the saw-blade and attached it to the handle with three bolts and one gear. After that, he added the guard that housed the back of the blade facing the wielder to protect him from it. After making the final adjustments he had completed the making of the weapon.

He picked up the 0.8m long weapon testing the balance, before flipping a safety switch and pulling the trigger which caused the blade to slowly start turning the metallic teeth slowly becoming a blur.

He smiled as he held the weapon taking an experimental swing with it. It behaved quite similar to an axe except that it had a circular saw instead of an axeblade to cut.

"You can come for me now…" he said with a grin as the sound of a buzzing saw slowly filled the workshop. "I'm ready."

—000—

"You're crazy." Robin exclaimed. "Well, you're already crazy by default, but this takes it to a whole other level…"

"Why so?" Gamma returned in a casual tone with no worry in the world. This did nothing to help Robin's worry, however. The opposition in fact.

"Because you just invented a new weapon…" he took a deep breath. "AND PLAN TO TEST IT BY TACKING ON A FREAKING DRAGON! WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT CRAZY MIND OF YOURS?! I THOUGHT YOU WERE SMART?!"

"I am." he replied pulling something out of his backpack and tossing it towards Robin who caught it awkwardly. "A crossbow? You can't be serious can you?" he exclaimed before inspecting the weapon closer. "At last tell me that it has some kind of hidden mechanism that allows it to turn into a handheld ballista or something…"

"Well it has a penetration capacity of around half a meter due to the compound bow modifications."

"Half a meter. That's barely a scratch considering from a dragon perspective. Basil tell this idiot to get back to his senses!"

The viper who was slithering between the two just blinked unsurely looking between the two friends.

Gamma simply chuckled before handing him a quiver with 6 arrows in them. "Each tip contains around one kilo of explosives so be careful. 4.6 million Joules of energy is not something to mess around with."

Robin gave him a confused look. "Alright, but if you have this, why take the risk of fighting with something that has less range…"

"Because of the limited ammunition. One kilo is still bearable, but you can't carry a lot of them so you have to rely on a limited amount of ammunition."

"That makes sense I guess…" he replied unsurely. "Are you still sure this is a good idea?"

"We got to test the weapons in action eventually and it's better if we do it in a controlled scenario instead of when it's vital should it turn out to fail."

"I still think it's a bad idea…"

"Relax, I even tested the crossbow in advance. Trust me, it's going to be fine."

"You're literally summoning disaster with those words…"

"It's just one dragon. I'm not planning to take any insane risks. If you don't want to trust my inventions, you can still trust Basil to stop disasters should things go south."

Robin looked at Basil who was still moving along with them, seemingly having grown bored of their conservation judging by his expression. "I hope you know what you're doing…" he finally replied.

[Sometime later]

Gamma and Robin were hiding in the undergrowth observing a dragon who was lying on a clearing, eating a deer. Judging by its red color he knew that it was Mountain Dragon.

"I still think this is a bad idea…" Robin whispered, hoping that Gamma would change his mind.

"Relax, we got multiple backup plans."

"Talking about backup, where's Basil?" Robin wondered.

Looking around he found him covered in the shadow of a rock shivering like a leaf.

"Basil? Are you alright?" Robin asked concerned, heading over towards him. It was then that he noticed the terrified look of the snake, as he fearfully looked at the red dragon they had found with wide eyes.

"Hey, what's going on my friend?" His thoughts then suddenly froze as he realized a fact before they went into overdrive. They were about to confront a dragon who even Basil, a Dragonbite Viper, the closest natural enemy dragons had, was afraid of.

He turned around to warn Gamma, but he had already stepped onto the clearing.

"This just has to go wrong…" he said concerned, loading the crossbow Gamma had given him. When he slipped the arrow into the hole that was in its front the arrow looked in place, and a small tip which was likely the button for detonation extended from the tip of the arrowhead with a clicking sound.

—000—

Gamma pulled his new weapon from his back as he carefully approached the dragon. So far it hadn't noticed him jet, which was good. He first wanted to observe it closely and look for any potential weaknesses he could exploit should things go south before engaging.

*CLICK!*

The dragon froze before turning around to find the source of the sound. It found him instead.

"Very helpful Robin…" he mumbled. "Kinda my fault should have warned him…"

The dragon left the deer, approaching him instead.

Gamma quickly turned on his weapon, and a high buzzing emitted from it as it sprung to life.

The sound seemed to confuse the dragon as it slowed down, observing the weapon with interest as well as curiosity.

Then it reached for it, trying to take it out of Gamma's hand, but he quickly took a step back pulling the weapon up in guard.

It tried a few more times, failing each time it, while slowly but surely growing visibly annoyed, while Gamma waited for the right moment to strike.

Suddenly it leaped forward, but instead of trying to rip the weapon out of his grip, it outright snatched Gamma from the ground, holding him in a tight grip.

It growled something happily before reaching out with the other talon to take his weapon, but Gamma didn't let that happen. Instead, he brought the spinning saw blade onto its arm, cutting through the protective layer of scales with minimal resistance before starting to grind away at the flesh beneath.

The dragon let out a mix of a yelp and roar in both surprise and pain as it dropped him. Gamma managed to land on his feet before dashing forward, targeting the now exposed underbelly as the dragon clutched the bleeding arm.

Just like its predecessors, the grinder Gamma had used in his first dragon encounter, this weapon to cut through the hard and sturdy scales with surprising efficiency, but the combination of this weapon's larger blade, the lack of protective covering around it, and the longer grip allowed this one to penetrate deeper as well as causing wounds that weren't just thin lines caused by a blade designed for high precision cuts.

This blade was designed to be a weapon and it did just like it was designed for leaving multiple cuts across the dragon's belly and torso.

"Now we're fighting." he said satisfied, happy that the weapon worked as intended. He took in a defensive pose ready for the counterattack he was sure to come.

For once, however, he was wrong. Against his hypothesis, the dragon's eyes didn't show rage. Instead, as it watched the wounds he had caused, its eyes only showed both utter surprise as well as disbelief. It then looked up and as its look fell on the blood, its own blood that was now present on Gamma's weapon the emotion shifted to fear.

Faster than he ever knew a dragon could move the Mountain Dragon did a semi-turn and bolted, almost headbutting the nearest tree as it fled in panic. Still running it unfolded its wings branches scrapping the leather-like member but it seemingly didn't care as it started flapping.

Gamma could only watch in disbelief as the dragon clumsily took to the air. A bit later all that was left was a receding red body against the blue afternoon sky.

"Did I just… scare away a dragon?"

—000—

"I told you it's going to be fine…" Gamma finally said after a while, unsure what to think.

"Yea… No idea how you managed, but you somehow did…" Robin replied with the same surprise stepping out of the undergrowth behind him. "Although I'm pretty sure that you just traumatized some random dragonet for life."

"Why dragonet?"

"It didn't immediately try to kill you and was more curious instead." Robin replied. "That's more of a trait accustomed to a younger specimen."

"Interesting…" Gamma replied his face turning thoughtful.

"You can think later." his friend replied picking up Basil who had calmed down now that the dragon was gone. "Let's leave before it returns with its parents…"

"Alright." Gamma agreed, following Robin back towards Blue Wave Harbor.

"Younger specimen…" Gamma thought his mind on overdrive as an interesting thought came to him.

Meanwhile, Robin had his own thoughts. "Why was Basil so afraid of that Mountain Dragon?"

And here's the weekly new chapter. Feedback and questions are welcome. :D

If you have any ideas for names on how I should call the SkyWing (Mountain Dragon), feel free to give me your ideas. I'm planning for her to return.
