Chapter 1. Soul

"I'm worried about him Lucy." Natsu told the celestial Mage while he laid on her bed.

"I'm sure he's ok Natsu. Touka went with him, remember?" Lucy told him, trying to calm him.

"Yea but this is the third time this week he wanted to be alone for a bit. He's never done that Lucy."

"He probably just wants some time away from everyone."

"Maybe, but not just that Lucy, this whole month he's been...distant. like a few days ago he yelled at me to leave him alone."

"Really?" Lucy was surprised by this. Happy wasn't one to yell like that.

Natsu nodded. "It really scared me. He was really mad. He said sorry later but still."

"That is concerning, especially when you add how distracted he's been lately when we go on quests."

"That's not all….he….sometimes I feel something from him."

"Hm? Like?"

"Well...it's like my instincts are telling me to be wary of him and I feel someone else's presence. It's weird but also what made me scared when he yelled at me."

"That is worrying. Maybe we should take him to see Porlysicia?"

"Hey that's a good idea! She'll know what's wrong."

A pounding knock came at the window, they looked to see it was Touka but with tears in her eyes and a ripped dress. Lucy opened the window. "What happened?" She asked with concern to the newest exceed.

"It's Happy-sama!"

"What happened to him!?" Nastu asked, hopped up from the bed with worry.

"He- he got swallowed by...by some white hole!" Touka said in between sobs.

"Touka, tell us what happened!" Lucy asked.

Earlier.

"You didn't have to come." Happy told Touka, leaning against a tree. They were in a forest not far from Magnolia

"I wanted to." Touka told him, sitting next to the blue exceed.

Happy looked up and closed his eyes, feeling the gentle breeze on his fur.

"You come here often?" Touka asked him.

"Not really. I found this place a few weeks ago...it's a good place to come to clear my thoughts." He replied.

"Oh? The breeze is nice here."

"Yea….Touka?"

"Have you noticed me...acting weird lately?"

"A little...yes." she scooted closer to him. "Something wrong?"

"I...lately I've been…." He was trying to find the words to say. He felt Touka place her paw on his and gave him a compassionate smile when he looked her way. He weakly smiled back and took a breath. "I haven't been feeling myself lately….sometimes it feels like someone trying to take over...they've been haunting me for a while. Sometimes I see them in my dreams, sometimes I catch glances of them in my reflection, and now….I feel like they're behind me…" he curled up in a ball. "I yelled at Natsu a few days ago, and I don't know why. I...just got so angry."

"It's ok."

"No it's not!" He yelled, scaring her slightly. "As each day passes that person gets closer and closer and I feel myself getting lost more and more, sometimes there are events that happen and I won't even remember it, like I wasn't even there….I'm scared, Touka."

She hugged him and patted his back. "I understand...it was like me with the white witch. I know that fear way too well."

A few minutes passed with the two just sitting there, before Touka thought of something.

"I have an idea! Why don't we try mental imaging?" She suggested

"Mental imaging?" Happy questioned

"Yes! Let's try picturing up this possessor and expelling him out!"

"How?"

"Ok, close your eyes."

"Closing."

"Focus on those sensations you got when you felt that other presence."

"Alright." He squeezed his eyelids shut. He focused on the feelings he got when he had his dreams and faint visions of him.

"Keep focusing till you see a clear image of who it is and then," she noticed Happy started shivering, "Happy-sama?"

Happy was focusing like he was told but as the image became clearer, so did his fear. In his mind, standing in front of him was someone he knew, someone the guild knew very well and feared just as well if not more.

"Hello there." Came a calm yet sadistic voice.

"H-how are you here!?" Happy said in a trembling voice.

"It seems part of my soul went into you. We're...compatible for some reason." The figure came closer and closer to Happy.

"Stay back!"

"Why? You don't need to be afraid. I won't hurt you, in fact you should be pleased I'm here."

"Why would I be!?"

"Because," it got in front of Happy, "I'm going to give you something amazing." It knelt down. "Power. Strength you so greatly lack." It placed one hand on his shoulder. "Power beyond your wildest dreams, the power of the king of dragons!"

"I don't want it!"

"Oh, but you do, I can feel it, your hatred for being weak, you wish to be stronger. It's a wish I can grant." The figure got into Happy's face. "All that I ask for...is your body!"

"NO!"

"Happy!?" Touka called him, worried greatly.

Happy's eyes shot open and he lunged at Touka, pinning her under him. His eyes went from black dots to black slitted pupils. He breathed heavily and barred his fangs. He reached down and bit into her shirt collar and pulled back, ripping down her top.

"That's right! Let your dragonic instincts take over!" The voice said.

"H-...Happy-sama…" the gentle voice of Touka snapped Happy from his trance.

"Wh...what am I…" he let his mouth go off the cloth and stepped back in shock.

Touka stood up and looked at him with concern. "Happy-sama?"

Tears started to fall from his face. "I-im so so-"

Just then a white tear appeared from behind him. It opened up wide and engulfed Happy, who cried out in surprise, before disappearing just as soon as it appeared.

Touka was shocked by what she just saw and was lost. She got up and looked around, wondering where Happy disappeared to.

"Happy?" She called out. "Happy!?" She called out again. She became afraid of what could've possibly happened and left to wear Natsu and Lucy were to get help.

Present

Touka was crying heavily as she recalled what happened, telling it to the two wizards in front of her.

"We gotta find him!" Natsu decided.

"Hold on, we should at least tell the others about this first." Lucy calmly suggested.

"Why? I can find him quicker if I sniff him out now."

"Natsu he wasn't kidnapped he was swallowed in a void, we don't know how far he is, he may not even be in magnolia anymore!"

"Yea but-"

"I agree with Lucy, we'd have a better chance if everyone joined in." Touka joined, wiping the tears that kept coming.

"Fine!" Natsu reluctantly agreed.

They all rushed to the guild. Natsu busted in yelling about how Happy has been possibly cat-napped. Everyone in the guild became extremely worried and discussion began about what happened and what to do. Team natsu got together to delve more into detail.

"This is my fault." Touka said.

"You were just trying to help him," Wendy comforted, "I'm more worried it may have something to do with what he told you, about the other person."

"That could explain why he's been so distant lately and maybe why would he lunge at Touka like that?" Lucy added

"It scared me because he's never done it while we're alone." Touka stated.

"While you're alone?" Carla questioned

"Yes. Some days when he wants to be away from everyone he lets me come with, he says I'm good company. This was the first time we went in the forest together." Touka reminisced with a smile while Carla frowned with that knowledge, feeling a sting in her chest.

"Natsu why don't you sniff him out? We could follow the scent trail for a clue at least." Gray suggested.

"I would've but Lucy thought I should get you guys first." Natsu replied, glaring at Lucy.

"Well let's start there then." Lucy suggested, looking away from the salamander.

They went to where Happy was last seen and Natsu sniffed to find his scent, hoping to find a trail.

"There's nothing…" Natsu said.

"What?"

"His scent is here.." Natsu sniffed a bit more, "it doesn't

Lead anywhere, it's like he's right here but he's not." Natsu scowled. "Damnit! I don't smell anything else besides a faint trace of Touka!"

"Calm down Natsu. He couldn't have been taken far. If we start searching now we're bound to find him eventually." Erza stated.

Natsu took a breath. "Yea, let's search!"

"I'll search all of magnolia for Happy-sama!" Touka determinedly stated.

"Let's go!" They all left that spot, beginning the search for the blue exceed.

Seven months passed since Happy disappeared and no one has even seen a trace of him. Fairy tail was disheartened but never gave up the search.

On a bright sunny day, while team Natsu was out looking elsewhere for their guildmate, someone in a brown hood approached the front door of the guild. The person looked up at the door and smiled wide. The person pushed the doors wide open, getting everyone's attention, and yelled out "I'm back baby!"

Everyone gasped. The person who opened the door was a blue cat that stood to be about three feet eleven inches tall, black eyes, slender body, wearing a light brown t-shirt and blue shorts. He had a big smile.

Mirajane looked at him with wide eyes. "Happy!?" She cried in surprise.
