Chapter 2. Soul and power
"Happy!?" Mirajane gasped.
"Yo!" Happy greeted with a peace sign after pulling back his hood. His facial features became slightly sharper and more mature, his whiskers were a bit shorter tho. He walked in and everyone was staring at him. "How's everyone been?" He asked while heading to the bar and taking a seat.
"I- well we-" Mira was at a loss of words.
"Where have you been!?" Gajeel, who was close by, questioned him, getting right beside him.
"Oh, hey Gajeel." The blue cat smiled at him.
"Don't you 'hey Gajeel' me! Where have you been the last seven months!?"
"That's kind of a long story, I was hoping Natsu and the others would be here before telling." He looked to Mira. "Where are they?"
"Well they left a week ago and should be back tonight." Mira answered
"Where'd they go?"
"Out looking for you!" Gajeel yelled
"O-oh." Happy said sheepily. "Hey, where's Levy?"
"She's at home taking care of our kid! Now back t-"
"She gave birth!? Boy or girl!"
"Heh, it's a boy." Gajeel said with pride.
"What's his name?"
"Rex!"
"Nice name!"
"Thanks I came up wi- Hold it! no changing subjects! Where have you been!?"
"Calm down, Gajeel." Panther Lily advised him, placing his hand on his shoulder. He looked towards Happy. "But man you've grown some."
"Thanks, I've gotten stronger too!"
"Oh?"
"Yea, I bet I could even give Natsu a run for his money."
"No way!" Elfman exclaimed as he and others started to approach the tomcat.
"Yes way! I've gotten new magic!"
"What is it?"
"Explaining that's gonna be….complicated. I wanna wait till the others get here before I can explain it."
"It's probably something lame anyway." Gajeel said passively.
"Wanna test that theory?" Happy smirked.
"What?"
"I said I could tell it but that doesn't mean I can't show it."
"You challenging me to a fight?" Gajeel asked with a frightening violent smile.
"Yep!"
"Did you hit your head while you were gone!?" Lily asked
"I got hit in the head but I'm still sane." Happy told him
"You sure? Cause you're challenging Gajeel here!"
"Yep, and I'm looking forward to it!"
Gajeel cracked his knuckles. "I'm gonna make you regret that, furball."
Meanwhile.
"Hurg!" Natsu heaved, leaning on Lucy for support.
"You ok?" Lucy asked him.
"I'll be fine."
The team had just gotten off the train and were heading to the guild, they came back from searching where they heard rumors that might lead them to Happy. Sadly it didn't turn up any leads.
"We were so close."
"Well atleast that fortune teller gave us something to hope on."
"More than someone else could." Touka snarkily remarked. Touka had noticeably changed over the months. She had grown taller, being four foot two inches tall, her body matured, being slender and curvaceous, with a size D bust and round amble butttocks.
"Well atleast I was useful." Carla retorted. She also went through some changes. She was just as tall as Touka while not as slender. Her bust was a size smaller but her butt was just as big.
"Funny how you knew I meant you."
"What was that!?"
"Enough you two." Erza commanded.
The two exceeds only glared at each other after Erza told them to stop. They came closer to the guild and heard a loud crash from behind.
"What was that?" Gray asked. They all walked back to see a crowd composed of the guild surrounding something in the middle. The crowd had a mix of cheers and surprised cries. Another crash of force came from the center. Gray saw Mirajane and went up to her. "Mira, what's going on?"
Mira looked at him and gave him a small nervous smile. "Well Gajeels fighting...someone."
"Of course." Lucy sighed. "Who's he fighting?"
"Well…" She looked off and to the battle, the others following her gaze.
A blast of fire came at Gajeel. He crossed his arms, armored them up, and shielded himself from the explosive impact. "Gonna have to try better than th-" Gajeel was cut off when in the dust he saw sparks of lightning followed by a swing of an electrified claw. He jumped back but the electricity surged to him, making contact and surging through his body. "JJJJEEERG- you damn furball!" He thrusted an iron spear towards his attacker who narrowly dodged it.
"Woah! Who's that? He's kicking Gajeels ass!" Natsu stated.
Gajeel glared at the salamander. "I heard that ya flame bastard!"
"Better pay attention!" A hooded figure said. He jumped up above him and gathered wind into his arms before blowing it down with great force. "Twister shot!" He yelled when the attack connected.
Gajeel kelt at the pressure but withstood the attack. "Iron dragon sword!" He swiped his blades arm at the person, sending him crashing to the side. He smirked but it quickly fell when he saw their arms coated in a thick slab of ice, having a cracked dent where he impacted.
"That stings!" The boy in the hood smirked.
Gajeel growled before smirking. "Heh, I'll admit you've surprised me, but there's no way you're beating me!" He coated his whole body in iron scales and clapped his hands together above him. "HOOOOO!" He gathered his magical power and focused it, surging it upwards till he formed a towering iron blade above him. "Iron God sword!"
"Gajeel, that's going too far!" Lily yelled out.
"We should stop them!" Erza stated before Natsu stopped her. "Wha?"
"Hang on. Let's see how this goes." Natsu suggested, looking intensely at the battle, but mostly at the hooded figure.
"Are you crazy!? Gajeels gonna cut Magnolia in half!" Gray retorted.
"Just wait."
"Wanna give up?" Gajeel taunted.
The hooded person bent down and touched the ground. "Never." He calmly said.
"Heh. Alright then!" He leaned back and swung his towering blade downwards.
Contact was made and the force of the impact nearly pushed everyone away. As the dust settled and everyone's vision cleared up, the sight before them was jaw dropping.
"Solid Earth: formation five!" The hooded figure said. His hands were held together, forming a diamond shaped tunnel. Surrounding him were three pairs of arms made from the earth with small jagged blades sticking out its elbows, holding onto Gajeels blade. "Arms of asura!" The arms pushed back the blade.
Gajeels stumbled back, his sword deforming and looked forward with surprise. He grinned. "Not bad."
"I'm just getting started!" Magic power surged from his being.
"Good!" Gajeel responded by doing the same. Darkness covered his body. "Iron shadow dragon mode!"
"Multi element! Fire!" Cracks of fire formed in the arms of earth, blazing a great heat from them.. "Arms of Asura: Rage Mode!"
"HAAAA!" They both cried out as Gajeel charged the and one in the hood readied a punch from three of its arms.
"That's enough!" Erza called out, stopping the two. "You two are going to destroy the guild if this keeps up!"
"Aw, but Erza this was getting good!"
"I don't care! Besides," she walked up to the boy in the hood, "we don't know who you are."
"Well-"
"Dangit Erza, why'd you have to butt in like that?" Natsu cut in.
"What?" Erza looked at him quizzically.
"They just got serious, I really wanted to see what my little buddy could do!" He said while looking at the hooded person.
"Little buddy? Natsu what are you talking about?" Lucy nasked
"Duh," he pointed at the boy in the hood, "I'm talking about Happy."
The rest of team Natsu deadpanned. "Huh?" They All said in unison.
"Yeah, That's Happy." Mira confirmed.
Happy dropped his hood, on his forehead was a red rock sigil. "Hey guys!" The sigil faded away as the rock hands fell to the ground and broke apart in the groves that formed when they were created.
"That was some awesome fighting there, Hap!" Natsu stated
"Not bad, furball, but were still gonna finish this later!" Gajeel stated.
"You're gonna have to wait a bit on that, he's fighting me next!"
"Huh?" He glared at Natsu. "Take a number, we were fighting first."
"Huh?" Natsu got in his face. "Too bad, he's my partner!"
"Too bad, we fought first!"
"Oh boy. Cmon gu- WAH!" Happy started but was tackled by Touka, nearly falling to the ground.
"Happy-sama!" She cried into his fur, nuzzling him.
"Hey Touka!" He smiled at her.
"I was so worried! I'm so glad you're ok!"
"I'm glad to see you too, Touka."
"Hmph!" Carla huffed infront of them.
"Hm?" He looked towards the white cat. "Oh hey Car-"
Carla grabbed his other arm and held tight. "I missed you as well." She said.
"Huh?"
Touka grumbled and tightened her hold on Happys arm. "Not as much as I have!" She said.
"Huh?"
Sparks flew as the two female exceeds glared at each other, gripping Happy's arms tighter against themselves. Happy blushed as he felt his appendages snuggle deeper into their cleavage.
"U-um ssso you two….grew some. Hehe heh." Happy managed to say, trying not to get a nose bleed, his face heating up.
"Hm?" Touka grinned. "You like?" She said while pushing her breasts further onto his arm, her cleavage poking out the top of her shirt.
"Uh, um, uhh," he looked towards Touka's ample bosoms, losing his wording.
"Hmph!" Carla huffed, pressing her chest onto Happy's arm, getting his attention.
He looked between both of their breasts, alternating his gaze from them as steam came out his ears.
"So, Happy, ready to tell us where you've been?" Mira asked
"R-Right!" He dashed forward, out of Touka and Carla's grasp. "I should definitely explain that!" He said, trying to calm his heart rate.
"Where have you been?" Natsu asked.
"It's a long story, so I'll try and make it quick, but let's go back inside first."
They all went back inside and sat at their usual spot. Mira brang Happy a glass of water, he took a sip of it before he began.
"Alright. Let's begin with my weird distant behavior. I told this to Touka, but during that month I wasn't feeling like myself, and I was being distant from everyone because of it."
"Yea, it got me worried especially when you yelled at me, it was really scary." Natsu responded.
"There was a reason for that. You know how Porlyusica is the Edolas counterpart to Grandeeney?"
"Yes. What about it?" Erza asked.
"Well….turns out what possessed me was my counterpart, his soul anyway, at least a fragment of it, that's also how I gained this power."
"Oh? Who was it?" Lucy asked.
"It was one of the dragons."
Everyone gasped at that.
"No way!? Really!?" Natsu asked with some excitement. "That means you're a-"
"Yep. I'm a dragon slayer now." Happy replied.
"Which dragon was it? Was it Igneel?"
"No, but he played a part."
"Is it a dragon we know?" Wendy asked.
Happy nodded. "Quite well actually."
"Better not be Metalicana." Gajeel stated.
"It's none of the dragons that raised you." Happy told them.
"Then who was it?" Natsu asked.
Happy looked down at his water and his smile slowly dropped. He looked back up at them and answered. "It was Acnologia."
Shock hit everyone's faces on hearing that name.
"After he died, a part of his soul went in me and started to slowly grow, getting to the point that his soul tried to take over my body."
"No way…" Natsu solemnly took in that info.
"So you're-?" Gajeel started
"A dragon slayer with Acnologia's power. It's why I'm able to use multiple elements, like when I was fighting you, Gajeel."
"Wow….I don't know how to process this."
"Neither did I when the monks told me about it."
"Monks?" Gray asked.
"Yea that's where I got taken to. That white void that swallowed me up took me to a tribe of monks, led by someone named Igor."
"Why'd those monks take you?" Touka asked.
"To help expel Acnologia's soul and help me use my new slayer magic."
"How'd they know to take you?" Carla asked.
"That's because Igor knew about the soul in me."
"How?"
"I believe that's what he's going to explain next, if you'd let him." Touka claimed.
"Not talking to you." Carla replied.
"Well I'm talking to you."
"I think that's the issue."
"Course you'd say that."
"What's that supposed to mean!?" Carla snapped at Touka.
"Anyway," Wendy started, stopping the two exceeds arguing, "how did they know?"
"Igneel told Igor." Happy answered, trying not to bring attention to what just happened.
"What!?" Natsu said in suprise.
"Yeah. A fragment of Igneel's soul also went into Igor, warning him about Acnologia's soul in me."
"Why would Igor get Igneel's soul?"
"Because he's Igneels edolas counterpart."
"What!? What was he like? Did he look like igneel? Did he use fire?" Natsu barraged Happy with questions.
"Easy there. First of all, he didn't look like igneel, though he did have red hair, and his magic was Fire."
"Yes!"
"As to what he was like...he was a kind man, strong, very fatherly, and pretty laid back when he wasn't training me. He's the reason I was able to expel Acnologia's soul and control his dragon slayer magic."
"Wait, if you have his magic does that mean you have a dragon form?"
"Not really, but I can create a dragon silhouette made of Ether when I use dragon force."
"You have dragon force!?" Wendy, Gajeel, and Natsu yelled in unison.
"Ah!" Happy reeled back by their yelling. "Well yea. I can't use it long, my limit is about eight minutes, and I'm really exhausted afterwards."
"That's awesome! Now I really can't wait to fight you!" Natsu exclaimed.
"Hey! I told you I'm fighting him first!" Gajeel
"He's my partner!" Natsu clashed his face with Gajeels.
"Yea? Well, we fought first and we need a conclusion!"
"Conclude later!"
They growled at each other.
Happy sighed and smiled. "Some things never change. Before you guys get at each other's throats, I'd like to head home for a bit, I miss the place. Plus," he gestured to his garbs, "I wanna see if any of your old clothes would fit me."
"Yea you grown some." Gray Said with a chuckle.
"Why don't we go buy some new ones?" Wendy suggested.
"That'd be nice, but I do wanna head home first." Happy replied.
"We can go for you."
Touka's ears popped up. "Right. But," she grinned, "well need to take his measurements." She looked at Happy somewhat seductively, causing the tom cat to blush.
"Pervert." Carla called Touka.
"You're one to talk." Touka snapped back.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Why not ask that body pillow you have?"
Carla blushed heavily.
"Body pillow?" Happy asked.
"I-it's nothing!" Carla desperately tried to dodge further questions.
"It sounds like something." Touka snarkliy remarked.
Carla growled at Touka. Wendy sighed. "I'll take your measurements Happy." She told him, causing Carla and Touka to gawk at her with surprise.
"Uh, thanks." He expressed his gratitude. "Got any measuring tape? "
"I do." Erza said. She held out her palm and a roll of measuring tape came out. Noone was surprised. "Here." She handed it to Wendy.
"Thanks." Wendy took the tape and looked towards Happy. "Stand here please." She asked the exceed to stand next to her. Happy did so, took off his hood, and stretched his arms out on the side. She went quick, making slight hums as she took the measurements, feeling Carla and Touka stare with some envy. "All done. We'll get you some new clothes and bring them to your home."
"Thanks Wendy." Happy said, picking up his hood. "Let's go home Natsu."
"Right! Let's fly there!" Natsu suggested.
"Sure! I kinda missed doing that." They went outside and Happy took hold of Natsu from the back, activated his wings, and flew off to their home.
"Alright," Wendy started, "let's go get some clothing." She looked to Carla and Touka, meaning she wanted them to come too.
The three of them left to town, Wendy trying her best to keep the two exceeds from fighting. Luckily for her, Erza joined them so it made things easier.
"Hm?" Carla saw a store that got her attention. "Wendy, do you mind getting a basket for me?"
"Uh, sure." Wendy replied.
"Oh!" Touka also saw a store. "Wendy, can you also get me a basket?" She asked.
"Ok." The two left in opposite directions. "Wonder what that was about?"
Erza shrugged in response.
They went and got some clothes for Happy and Wendy only got one large basket, she was hoping they would just use it together for whatever reason they needed it for.
"I'm back!" Carla yelled as she approached Wendy and Erza, holding a square white box.
"Sorry for the wait!" Touka yelled as she also approached the two wizards, holding a brown box.
They both approached the basket at the same time and glared at each other.
"Excuse me but I'm using this." Carla told her.
"I got to it first." Touka stated.
"Use another basket!"
"Actually, why don't you both use it?" Wendy suggested.
"No way!" They said in unison.
"Wh-whats so important that you can't share it?"
They both blushed.
"It's for Happy, isn't it?" Erza theorized. They didn't reply, confirming that she's right. "I knew it. Alright then," She took bothering boxes and put it in the basket. "Wendy, you take it to Happy long with the clothes."
"But I wanted to-" Carla started.
"I was gonna-" Touka also started.
"No buts!" Erza glared, shutting the two up as they regressed in fear. She handed Wendy the basket. "We'll go back to the Hills."
"Ok. I'll be back soon." Wendy said as she made her way to Natsu and Happy's place.
Wendy trekked up the path to the house, holding the basket in her hands. She made her way up to the door but stopped halfway once she heard something.
"How can you lie to them easily

She heard singing coming from behind the house.

Showing to anyone a smile but they didn't see

Wendy slowly walked, following the singing trail with her ears.
"Worry everyday for you is all that I can do
Keeping down these feelings that I'm hiding in plain view"
She made her way to the back and her eyes widened. Sitting on a chair behind the house was Happy. His eyes were closed, he was leaning back, and was the source of the singing that Wendy was hearing. He didn't notice her and continued.
"Striking at the bell,

Wendy stood there, smitten by his voice, absorbed in his song.

As she kept listening to him she wondered what the music to this song would sound like, curious to hear it along with his singing, but she was fine just listening to his voice.

Happy took a breath and looked to his side to see Wendy standing there looking at him in awe. His face burned red. "W-W-W-W-Wendy!?"
She waved. "H-hi."
"H….how long were you standing there?" He nervously asked.
"I heard you earlier when I got to the door and I walked back here, listening."
"So...the begining…"
"I think so."
"Great…" he got even redder.
"Um," she got closer. "I got your clothes."
He shyly took the basket, avoiding eye contact. "Thanks."
"There's also something in there from Touka and Carla."
"Cool."
"...can I just say...you have an amazing singing voice!" wendy complented
Happy got redder and slightly whined.
"And that song you sang was beautiful!" Wendy continued.
"Hmmmm!" The redness got brighter on Happy's face.
"What's the song called?"
"It's called Setsuna Plus." Happy nervously replied.
"It's a nice song and I loved how you sang it."
"Th-thanks!"
"Could I hear you sing again?"
"What!?"
"O-only if you're ok with it, I really enjoyed hearing you sing!"
"Um well...not right now."
"Oh…"
"...but if you come by the forest over there," he pointed to the forest at a distance, "I could sing for you there."
"Really!?"
Happy nodded. "Come by tonight at about ten."
"Ok! Thanks! See you then!" She waved off and ran back home, passing by Natsu.
"Hey Happy. Why ya red?" Natsu greeted and asked.
"Shut up." Happy set the basket down.
"What's in the basket?"
"My new clothes and some other things." He opened the basket and took out one of the boxes, opening it. "Huh?"
Wendy walked into her room at the Hills, humming the tune of what Happy sang.
"Hello Wendy." Erza greeted, eating a cake on the couch. "You seem to be in a good mood."
"I am! Where are Carla and Touka?" Wendy replied
"They both went to their bedrooms."
"Oh." She sat down in front of Erza. "Do you mind staying here when it hits ten? I'm gonna be out for a while."
"Oh? Where are you going?"
"I'm meeting with Happy in the forest."
"What for?"
"He said he'd sing for me."
"Huh?"
"Well when I went to take the basket to him, I caught him singing, and he's got an amazing voice and talent for it."
"Really?" Erza was surprised by that news.
"Yeah! I can't wait to hear him again tonight!"
Ten rolled by and Wendy was making her way into the forest. She passed by Natsu and Happy's place and entered the woods, making her way to the area Happy pointed to. She passed by a few trees and made her way up a hill before spotting Happy sitting against a tree at the top of a hill. He was wearing a white t-shirt and a red pair of shorts. "Hey Happy." She greeted him.
"Hey." He smiled at her. Wendy sat next to him. "So um," he blushed, "what would you like to hear?"
"Well can you sing what you sang this morning? Setsuna plus, was it?"
"Sure." He leaned back and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.
Carla and Touka trailed Wendy when they heard from Erza that she was going to meet Happy. The both left at different times and before Erza could tell them what they were doing. They passed by the house and bumped into each other when they entered the forest.
"What are you doing here!?" Carla questioned.
"I could ask you the same thing!" Touka retorted.
"None of your bus-"

Carla was cut off by a not so distant sound of singing by a familiar voice. Touka and her looked in the direction of the singing and made their way to it.

They came up on a hill and went to the side. They hid behind a tree and looked to the side. Their eyes widened when they saw the one singing was in fact Happy.

Wendy clapped. "That was amazing!" She said, speaking what Carla and Touka thought.
"Thanks." Happy replied, blushing. He looked down and his smile dropped a little. "Hey, Wendy?"
"Yes?"
"What's up with Touka and Carla? Why do they hate each other?"
"Well…" Wendy started Solemnly. "It started after you disappeared. At first it was just gripes about how Touka knew things that Carla didn't, small jobs, and now not a single word can be said between them that's not an insult."
"I see….they both asked me out on a date."
"What!?"
"In the basket there was a cake and a box of fish, both with a mpte for a date."
"So that's why they both wanted a basket."
"...I'm scared."
"Huh?"
"I'm scared of what would happen if I chose one over the other."
"Oh. Well I'm sure they'd get over it, no matter which you chose."
"That's the thing...I don't know which to choose even if they weren't arguing."
"What?"
"Wendy….I love them both."
"What!?"
"I love both of them. Carla was my first love but I never felt that she felt the same, Touka did, she returned my feelings and it made me love her back, but now that I know Carla does feel the same...I'm conflicted."
"Oh…."
"Them fighting just makes it harder...I don't know what to do…"
"I…." Wendy wished she could say something but she didn't know what to say.
Carla and Touka lowered their ears when they heard Happy's plight. They looked at each other and felt ashamed, failing to realise how much their arguing affected the one they loved.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't be so drab." Happy apologized.
"No no, it's fine." They sat in silence for a bit and she felt the wind kiss her skin. "The breeze here is nice."
"Yea. I really like this spot. A good place to relax."
"Hm…huh?" She looked to her left.
"What?"
"N-nothing." She got up. "I'll be right back." She left
"Ok?" Happy laid back and looked up at the leaves for a few minutes till Wendy came back.
