Nico
The camp was storming in life. People moved all over the place gathering supplies weapons and anything else they would require on their journeys. I sat towards the forest in the shade of a tree watching everything occur. Annabeth's blonde hair could be spotted a mile away racing through the camp, no doubt ensuring that she had a plan for everything that could go wrong.
I wanted to go with her, I wanted to help save Percy like he had saved me a thousand times. It made me wonder what the Romans would think about this mess. I knew Frank and Hazel had larger things to worry about, a camp to run. But I would've loved their insight right now, I would've loved Jason's. I noticed that most had their bags ready and decided it was time I went down there with them.
Everyone was crowding around the big house, Chiron was talking to Annabeth about something while the others chattered amongst themselves. Two groups. The larger one was going after Percy, and the smaller one was heading to the underworld.
I felt the shadows begin to dance around me, looking down my eyes caught upon a pair of scarred hands. Azriel. The man from another world was observing the group the same as I was, listening from the shadows.
"We are going," Rowan stated coming over to Nico's other side. I nodded my head, grabbing the bag I packed this morning with Will. I had already said my goodbyes so now all that was left it actually leaving.
"We will take a bus to Manhattan then figure things out from there," I stated.
The two large males beside me nodded their heads before Rowan turned to face me. "Sounds good, but what is a bus?" he asked. The question shouldn't have come as a surprise, he wasn't from this world, but still, it felt weird for someone to not know things like that.
"It's a method of transport we use," I explained.
"Is it safe?" a female voice questioned from behind me, I turned around to face Chaol and Irene.
"For normal people, yes. For us, not so much. Monster will be trailing my scent the entire journey," I replied.
"We can deal with the monsters," Azriel said in a quiet, yet strong voice. Nico nodded his head.
"Then let's go," I said just as Chiron walked over.
"The rest of you can make your way to the top of the hill, I need to talk to Nico for a second," the centaur said. Only once we were away from prying ears did Chiron continue to talk. "Nico I will say to you what I just told Annabeth. You are dealing with things that have never occurred before. This is extremely dangerous, the enemy is not just the monsters around you, but it may also end up being the monsters beside you. Do not trust them until they prove themselves trustworthy you understand?"
"Yes," I replied. I didn't really trust people anyway, not after what happened to Bianca.
"I don't know them well, but most have this sense of death around them. I am sure you feel it. Just be careful, and remember if anything happens you get out of there, this isn't your fight." he said.
I sighed. "Don't worry," I told him.
"Good luck," Chiron said and walked away to the other group. I made my way up the hill to Thalia's old tree. The others were waiting for me to offer them a course of heading. I was the one leading this group, I had never led a mission before. It was strange, to be the one everyone looked at for answers.
"Ok, people. We have a whole country to make it across alive. We can't take the skies, because well Zeus doesn't like me all that much, so we have to go on foot. The bus is down this road," I tell them trying to think of what Percy would say. He was my guide on this journey, even if he didn't know it.
When the first car drove down the road beside us they all looked curiously at it.
"Did humans invent that?" Chaol asked. I nodded my head.
"Beats a horse," Yrene said.
"Your world still uses horses?" I said curiously.
"The humans do," Rowan replied. "I'd rather fly." Azriel nodded in agreement. This was going to be a strange trip, I concluded.
The long Island bus screeched to a stop beside them. Its large body took up half the road, its wheels ceasing to rotate. I stepped on, casting my eyes over the passengers, none seemed to take any particular notice of me. No one eyes me with a predatory gaze. I think we should be good for now. "Won't the humans think my wings strange?" Azriel asked standing outside the bus, looking into its giant window. "The humans don't see anything, mist covers it up."
"Like glamour," he mumbled.
"Sure," I replied not knowing what glamour was. I paid the bus driver and everyone else got onto the bus and found a seat. Azriel struggled slightly but still managed in the end. We were all silent for the entire trip to Manhattan.
Percy
"Something isn't right, you lied!" grumbled the voice above me. My eyes stayed shut unable to open in the sunlight. I was too exhausted to open them. "They lied!"
"There is a trespasser, I can feel them. But that wasn't it was it!" the powerful being's face was now inches from mine, and I could feel their breath. "What do you know you filthy half-blood," it now whispered. "What aren't you telling me?!"
My skin crackled as lightning struck my side. I yelled out in pain, feeling the burn pierce into my blood.
"I'll find out, you can't hide from me," said the entity, before shoving me back into the darkness. I didn't even know what he was talking about.
