The following day, the world continued to talk about the big battle in Kamino Ward, where All Might defeated All for One.
Changes were imminent, due to All Might now weakening, pros and police alike had to be more initiative in stopping any threats in the horizon, including The Brotherhood of Mutants and The League of Villains.
At the hospital, Peter had woken up, sitting up while grabbing his head, feeling a bit confused, "I feel like I got crushed by an avalanche."
"Well given what happened, you might as well have," came a familiar voice. Peter turned to the side and spotted the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange.
"Huh? Stephen? When did you get here?" Peter asked.
"Earlier this morning," Strange said. "Wong contacted me and told me about your fight. I regret not being there last night, but I was not currently in this realm. I had my own matters to attend to."
"That's fine, gotta keep the Multiverse safe," Peter said.
"From what I've heard, you took quite the beating, it's actually all over the internet, the big battle against that dastardly villain," Doctor Strange said.
"Yeah, he called himself All for One," Peter said. "Guess I screwed that up."
"Don't be so hard on yourself, he's been defeated, thanks to All Might," Doctor Strange said.
"Whoa, for real?" Peter asked. "All Might won?"
"Yes, it was surprising given that his muscle form had completely disappeared," Strange said. "Kind of a shame really, to see him reduced to such a state."
"Well as long as he got the win," Peter said. "I'm just glad it's over. At least for now, I still have to find his underlings."
"In due time Peter," Strange said. "There's a lot for us to discuss as well."
"Wait, before we do that, what about my friends?" Peter asked. "How are they doing?"
"See for yourself, you're in the same room," Strange said, gesturing to everyone else present."
He could see Rainbow Dash in bed, her leg wrapped in a cast and elevated above her. Right next to her was Johnny, bandages wrapped around his head as well. Peter could only imagine what long-term damage may occur from this and hoped it wasn't anything that couldn't be treated.
Across from him was his wife Twilight, the girl bandaged up and had a guard around her jaw. Next to her was Peni, who was also wrapped up in bandages but didn't look too bad. Still, it bothered Peter to see two of the girls he loves the most in such a position. As a husband, he should have protected his wife. As an older brother, he should have protected his little sister. As a hero, he should have kept everyone safe.
Then there were the two Saiyaman, both bandaged up, and in bad shape from what had happened the night prior. Knowing how strong they are, especially Gohan, reminds Peter of the power of All for One. He knew they'd be fine though, Videl's tough and thanks to Gohan being Half-Saiyan, this was only going to make him stronger.
"Looks like they're all asleep still," Peter said.
"Yes, they are quite exhausted," Strange replied. "There are others, I spotted Gambit, Wolverine, Deadpool, Chun-Li and Leon Kennedy, they're on their feet, but a little banged up themselves. Others like Best Jeanist and Mount Lady are still recovering from their own wounds."
"What about All Might? Where is he?" Peter asked.
"He gets his own private room, since he is the Number One Hero in the world, or was," Strange said. "Rumor is that he might have to retire."
"All Might retiring huh?" Peter said, thinking about the disappointment everyone will face. "That's gonna suck."
"Yes, but that's it's now more important than ever to be there for people, show them that despite what happened, there are still heroes in the world to protect them," Strange said. "That's where you and your friends come in, you have to protect the citizens of this country, and remind the villains that they are no threat to you."
"You can count on us," Peter said. "Now, what was it you wanted to tell me?"
"It's about you, and your cells," Strange said. "The doctors seemed quite amazed an baffled when they ran some bloodwork on you. Thankfully I was able to see it for myself this morning, and I noticed something interesting about your cells."
"Interesting how?" Peter asked.
"Your cells show amazing signs of an enzyme known as Telomerase, which basically keeps cells immortal," Strange said. "Logan has something similar, it's why he doesn't age. Peter, you just might be immortal."
"Huh!?" Peter asked, then immediately lowered his voice, not wanting to disturb his friends. "Me? Immortal? Like Logan?"
"Looks like it," Strange said.
"But how? Like is this normal for my quirk?" Peter asked.
"From what I can deduce, it may be a mutation of the OZ Formula," Strange said.
"You mean the formula that Norman Osborn made in an attempt to recreate the Super Soldier Serum?" Peter asked.
"Yes, it may have modified your cells to the point where you likely will never age," Strange said. "It would explain why you still look so young. I mean, I know you're only 34, and it's not that uncommon but even as you get older, you won't look much different than you do now."
"So, I'm basically never going to die?" Peter asked.
"Well you can, you came close last night, you just won't likely die of age, or any natural causes," Strange said. "At least not for a very long time. If Logan is anything to go by, you just might be around for a few hundred years, as long as you don't fall in battle."
"So that's it, I'm just gonna live forever?" Peter asked.
"You seem disappointed," Strange said.
"Well, I almost am," Peter said. "Look, I like being alive, obviously, but humans, we're not meant to live forever!"
"You won't be alone if that's any consolation, Twilight is immortal as well after all, she has magic bestowed from Princess Celestia," Strange said. "You and your wife will enjoy eternal life together."
"I get that, and that is a silver lining, but what about my daughter? Or my son?" Peter asked.
"I can't answer that yet, though if they have your genes and any bits of the OZ Formula, then it's possible they too can live forever," Strange said.
"Still, what about my friends? What about their friends?" Peter asked. "In like a hundred years, who do we have? Logan? Deadpool?"
"Superman too," Strange said. "But I see your point. This very well will be hard for you, and I'm sorry you feel this way. But that is how you were built, better you know now than later, gives you time to adjust."
Peter laid back in frustration, if Logan was anything to go by, immortality was not that great. At least he has Twilight and some friends to keep him company, but it just felt weird to him. He expected to see his Uncle Ben in death when his time came, but that time won't be for a long while.
Strange himself looked remorseful, he should have expected Peter wouldn't take this well, he didn't want to beat around the bush and just wanted to be forward, but that may have made things worse. "I should go. You seem to have a lot to think about. I'll be around but-" Suddenly he saw the door open, "Look who showed up."
Peter turned to see a surprise guest, "Superman?"
"Hey Peter, Doctor," Superman greeted.
"When did you get here?" Peter asked.
"Oh, did I forget to mention that Superman came by last night as well?" Strange said.
"...Kind of," Peter turned back to the Man of Steel. "You came by yesterday?"
"Yes, I helped in the fight against All for One," Superman said. "Though, it did not go well for me."
"You and your Kryptonite weakness," Strange said.
"Kryptonite?" Peter asked. "Wait, that guy had Kryptonite?"
"He was very prepared, and like a fool, I let my guard down and took a bad hit that led to more bad hits," Superman said, placing his hand over his chest. "I can never get used to that pain."
"You are being too hard on yourself," Strange said. "All for One endangered innocents to get the upper hand, did he not?"
"Regardless, I still allowed it to happen, I made a mistake," Superman said. "Thankfully All Might stepped up. He was able to overpower All for One with a massive punch. Pretty impressive attack too, I believe he called it 'United States of Smash'."
"That...is so awesome!" Peter shouted.
"Peter, voice," Strange said. "Don't wake up your friends and family."
"Peter..." Twilight said. Everyone looked over and saw that she was still asleep, just mumbling.
"Onii-Chan..." Peni said as well, also talking in her sleep.
"Looks like even sleep you're always on their mind," Strange said.
"Yeah, it's cute," Peter said, then turned back to the Man of Steel. "Well, thanks for coming by Superman."
"Of course, I just wish I was there sooner," Superman said. "I'm really happy you're doing better, seeing your brutalized body was too much to bear. I can only imagine how your daughter must feel."
"Right, I should call her," Peter said. "I should call Gwen, Miles, Tony and Aunt May too. Also my friends in Equestria."
"Right, first thing's first, do you know where All Might's room is? I want to see how he's doing," Peter said.
"I can take you there," Superman said.
"You go and do that, I can take one more look over Twilight and the others before I go," Strange said. "But know this, they're gonna be fine, and it's thanks to the efforts from you, Superman and All Might. You did great Peter."
"Thanks Stephen," Peter said. "Well, I should go, but first I might need some actual clothes."
"I'll get them for you," Strange said, using his magic to levitate some.
"Thanks, you're a pal, Strange," Peter said.
"Friendship..." Twilight mumbled, again still dreaming.
"Even in her sleep, she remembers that Friendship is Magic," Peter said.
"A magic even I have occasionally struggled in, Twilight is truly a one-of-a-kind girl, a girl I am proud to call my apprentice," Strange said.
"And one I am proud to call my wife," Peter said.
Even Superman seemed satisfied of course, as a husband himself, he knows how precious marriage is. And like Peter, he too has a cousin who looks up to him to set an example. Times like these, he feels like he truly relates to Peter.
Nearby, All Might is seen recovering on his bed, covered in bandages, "The embers inside of me are snuffed out, the Symbol of Peace is no more." He turned to Tsukauchi and Gran Torino beside him, the latter bandaged up himself, "But, despite that, there is something I must do."
"It's about Tomura Shigaraki, isn't it?" Gran Torino said. "Shimura's grandson."
"Our only evidence is what All for One said," Tsukauchi explained. "Didn't either of you have any interaction with Shimura's family? Aren't you close to her?"
"No, we didn't," Gran Torino said.
"How come?" Tsukauchi asked.
"After Shimura's husband was killed, she put her child in foster care to shield him from the hero world," Gran Torino explained. "She told both myself and Toshinori not to have any contact with the kid even if something bad happened to her."
"Looks like your promise backfired, sorry to hear that," Tsukauchi said.
"My master gave up her heart to give her family a life of peace," All Might said. "I will track down Shigaraki as soon as possible."
"What will you do when you find him?" Gran Torino asked. "What are you gonna pat him on the head? He's still a villain, ignoring that is a dangerous mindset. Regardless of his lineage, he's still a criminal. Leave the League to Tsukauchi and myself. Agent Chun-Li and Agent Kennedy will aid as well, but you need to stay out of this for the time being. You still have responsibilities to UA after all. You may not be the Symbol of Peace, but that doesn't mean All Might no longer has anything to give."
Soon after there was a knock on the door, surprising the three as the door opened to reveal Peter and Superman.
"Hey, glad to see you're doing alright All Might," Peter said. "Same with you old-timer."
"Peter? You're already on your feet?" All Might asked. He shouldn't be too surprised, he knows that Peter, like Clark, can take a beating and still walk just fine the next day, but after yesterday, even he had his doubts.
"I'm just as surprised too honestly, that All for One really beat the tar out of me," Peter said, recalling the brutality. "I haven't taken a beating that bad since the first time I fought Morlun."
"The fact that you're still able to walk though, it's almost like you're immortal," Gran Torino said.
"Yeah...immortal," Peter replied, his tone going somber, his face replaced with newfound confusion. Superman looked over to the spider hero, while he wasn't in the room, he could still hear the conversation between him and Doctor Strange, helps having super hearing, sometimes at least.
"Well we're glad you're up an at'em Peter," All Might said. "You too Superman."
"I can take a punch," Superman said. "I'm just glad I recovered before my enemies found out about my injuries, again."
"Don't worry about that anyway Superman, we have pros lined up outside just in case," Tsukauchi said. "We know what happened last time you took a bad beating and had to go to the hospital, there won't be a flock of villains rummaging around this time."
"I trust the pros, plus Doctor Strange is here too, came by this morning to check on Peter," Superman said.
"Oh, that's good to know," All Might said. "Probably could have used him in the fight against All for One."
"Oh totally, All for One is probably one of the most intimidating villains I've met in my life," Peter said. "I mean, I still say The Green Goblin is up there at the top but All for One really climbed the ranks last night."
"Green Goblin huh? Even past Thanos?" Superman added.
"Thanos was bad but Goblin, he's just somehow worse," Peter said.
"I understand that, sometimes it's not about the raw power, it's about what the person can do," Superman said. "Lex Luthor is a good example of that."
"Seems like he's been involved in this as well with that Kryptonite situation," All Might said. "I'm glad you're doing well too."
"We're the lucky ones," Superman said. "Wolverine and Deadpool are both fine and fully recovered, but I can't say the same about the others."
"Gohan, Videl, Johnny, Rainbow Dash," Peter named, feeling remorse for those who got hurt, those he considered his closest friends. "Especially my baby cousin Peni and my wife Twilight. They're alive, Thank God for that one, but..."
In that moment Peter began to tense up, the frustration seeping onto his face, the same of not being able to protect those he cared about overtaking his psyche.
"Peter..." Superman placed his hand on the hero's shoulder, hoping to calm the hero.
"I should have done more to protect them, I was not prepared for All for One," Peter said.
"Don't blame yourself, if anything it's my fault for not stopping him five years ago," All Might said. "He's my enemy, so he's my responsibility."
"First off, let me say this," Superman said, turning to Peter. "What happened to Twilight and Peni wasn't a result of you being unable to protect them, it's a result of them wanting to protect you. Because they love you Peter, and they would do anything for you, just like you would for them. They fought bravely, like true heroes, you should be proud to have a wife who looks out for you, and a cousin who looks up to you."
"I am, I love Twilight, and I love Peni, when it comes to the girls in my life, they're both in the top five, along with my aunt, daughter and niece," Peter said.
Superman turned to All Might, "Second, remember this Toshi. In the field of battle, we all share responsibility. Some villains are associated with certain heroes due to personal grudges or rivalries, but when All for One was terrorizing innocent people, it became my problem too. My duty is to save the world after all. I know that if it were Brainiac here in Japan," Clark turned to Peter, "Or if Zod came to New York." He focused back on the group entirely, "That we'd all give it our best. Japan is not my usual territory, but Earth is my home. It wasn't just your responsibility All Might, it was a hero's job."
"You sure love those motivational speeches," All Might jokingly stated. "You and Steve both."
"Hey you're no stranger to giving them yourself," Clark joked back. "My point is, Peter and I felt just as responsible for stopping All for One, and thankfully you pulled it off. With a pretty amazing attack too."
"Word on the street is that you beat him with the 'United States of Smash'," Peter said. "It's amazing how American you can be despite being born in Japan."
"I owe a lot to my studies in America, it's a fascinating country to boot, the culture is so different than here in Japan," All Might said.
"I feel the same, like I'm a proud American but I love Japan too," Peter said. "It's where some of my favorite things come from, like my adorable cousin."
"I love all countries equally, Earth is such a beautiful planet," Superman said.
"We're grateful to have you two here, Tsukauchi said. "It's always a treat when heroes from different countries look out for one another."
"The whole planet is one giant neighborhood, and I am the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man," Peter said. "Plus, I want to be able to keep those UA Kids safe, I've really grown fond of them, especially Ochako and Izuku."
"Speaking of Izuku Midoriya," All Might began. "Peter, I think it's time you were clued in on something, about the true source of my power."
"Are you being serious, All Might?" Superman said in confusion, both Gran Torino and Tsukauchi looking amazed as well.
"So, you're finally gonna tell him?" Gran Torino asked. "After all these years."
"Tell me what?" Peter asked. "What source of power?"
"I don't tell a lot of people this, in fact the people who know probably aren't even in the double digits," All Might said. "The truth may be too hard for some, and honestly, I worry it would impact what heroes think of me."
"You shouldn't, despite your power's origin, you've used it to save countless lives, that's more important," Superman said.
"Yeah, maybe," All Might said. Even he wasn't too confident, he still wanted people to feel safe, to know that his power is almost fraudulent did hurt his confidence a bit, and he hoped he would still have Peter's respect. This boy fought hard for him, so he figured he owed him the truth. "Peter, remember what I said in the fight? About One for All?"
"Yeah, you said to ask Izuku about it," Peter said.
"Well, since I'm still alive, I might as well just tell you myself," All Might said. One for All...is the name of my quirk."
"Huh? I thought your quirk was a Super Strength and Speed one, what does the name One for All have to do with this?" Peter asked.
"Because it's not like other quirks, One for All is a stockpiling quirk that gets passed down from generation to generation," All Might said. "My master passed it on to me, after she got it from hers, and so on."
"Wait, so this quirk allows you to pass down powers and abilities from one person to another?" Peter asked.
"Yes, the first holder was actually All for One's brother," All Might explained. "Back then he thought he was quirkless, so in an act of supposed mercy, he gave his brother a stockpiling quirk. But that brother did have a quirk, the ability to pass down a quirk. It was useless on its own, so it's almost a miracle that he even got a chance to discover this."
"It makes sense in a way," Superman said. "One brother can take quirks, the other brother can give them away."
"Perhaps it was done by design after all," All Might said. "Moving on, that brother passed down One for All to his successor, and so on until it got to me, the eighth holder. With each holder, the power gets stronger, so each successor is destined to be stronger than the last."
"Each stronger than the last huh?" Peter said. "So I imagine this not only made you strong, but also amplified an existing quirk you would have already had. That's my theory at least."
"Your theory is correct, usually it does amplify existing quirks. Of course I was born quirkless so it's not like it did anything for me as from giving me my super strength," All Might said, this surprising Peter.
"Hold on, you were quirkless!?" Peter asked.
"Surprising isn't it? Of course back when I was born, it wasn't too rare," All Might said. "I still wanted to be a pro hero, luckily I met my predecessor, Nana Shimura. She trained me well and passed One for All onto me where I held it for many years."
"That Nana person must have been one cool lady to help you achieve that goal," Peter said. "I mean, I think you could have been a hero without a quirk but having one probably helps."
"Nana Shimura was an amazing woman, so it pains me to know that her grandson might be one of the world's fastest rising villains," All Might said.
"Tomura Shigaraki," Peter remembered his encounter with the villain. Just the mere mention of family did set him off. "How much does he know? Like does he know that this woman is his grandmother?"
"We're not sure, All for One may have told him but we can't confirm or deny that," Gran Torino said. "There's no official evidence that Shigaraki is related to Shimura, but I wouldn't put it past All for One to do something that low."
"It's honestly despicable," Superman said. "I'm sorry that happened to you All Might. Personally I too remember Nana Shimura, I know she was a great woman."
"Even the greatest heroes have someone they look up to," Peter said.
"We all start somewhere, even idolizing those who came before us, like Star Man," Superman said. "And I know that Barry idolized Jay Garrick to the point of using his Flash name."
"Yeah, I remember that tidbit," Peter said, then focused back to All Might. "Wait, so what does Izuku have to do with that quirk?"
"Earlier this year, I passed One for All down to Midoriya, he's the ninth holder," All Might said. "As a result, I've completely lost my power, my injury certainly sped things up in that department."
"Wait, Izuku's the new holder?" Peter asked.
"Yes, and that's why I was training him. Remember that time we were cleaning Dagobah beach?" All Might asked. "I was preparing him to take my power. At the time his body was too scrawny, if he had taken my quirk, he would have probably exploded and died."
Peter's face turned blue for a second, "That's certainly not pleasant."
"After a year of hard work, I finally passed my quirk onto him, this was shortly before the UA practical exams," All Might said.
"That might explain why Izuku said he was quirkless, then suddenly developed one," Peter said. "I mean, from what he told Mayday, it randomly manifested during your training but he had little time to properly control his strength since it was still new to him."
"Yes, the truth is that while he was indeed quirkless, One for All allowed him to have a quirk, and with that, he achieved his dream of going to UA, and if he passes, which I believe he will, he will be able to turn pro," All Might said.
"Huh, almost made my little pep talk to him that day we met seem pointless," Peter said. "I told the kid he could go pro without a quirk."
"Peter, you know it's nearly impossible to do so," All Might said. "That pep talk could have caused him to do something dangerous and reckless."
"What's wrong with telling a kid to follow his hopes and dream?" Peter asked. "Not like his goal was world domination, it was a good goal of being a pro hero. I think he could have figured something out, just like Tony Stark did."
"Tony is a billionaire," All Might reminded.
"That shouldn't stop him, he could have learned martial arts and stuck with the street level," Peter said. "Take Night Thrasher from Connecticut, he doesn't have a quirk either, didn't stop him from grabbing a skateboard, some batons and riding into battle."
"Is he even registered?" All Might asked.
Peter groaned in annoyance, "Is that even important? I mean really, Registration, permission, like I get there are laws and they need to be followed, but doing the right thing is way more important than those laws. If he saw someone getting mugged, is he supposed to do nothing? It's not even a hero's duty, it's a citizen's duty to look out for others. A person has the right to apprehend a crook."
"He's not totally wrong," Tsukauchi said. "A citizen may perform a type of 'arrest' to a crook, under the right circumstances."
"Exactly! Look I'm not ashamed to say that I was a vigilante myself, I'd rather ask forgiveness than permission because any moment of hesitation is another life that could be lost," Peter said. "I don't regret telling Izuku he could have been a hero and note that I don't use the term 'pro', because honestly, I really hate that term sometimes. These stupid rules just create more problems than they do solutions."
"Easy Peter, don't get carried away," Superman warned.
"You should agree with me Superman. I mean are you even registered!?" Peter asked. "You're probably more of a vigilante than I am at this point."
"Peter!" Clark shouted, silencing Peter's rant. "Look, I agree that it is important to always do the right thing, and yes, sometimes I do feel like the system is a little flawed, but you know you can't completely ignore it too. Remember what you told me once, how you regretted interfering with Police work because it resulted in them being unable to catch a villain?"
Peter groaned in annoyance, remembering an incident regarding Curt Connors, better known as The Lizard, "That was...yeah it was my mistake."
"You of course remember the Superhero Civil War, how could either of us forget, we were part of it," Superman said.
"Yeah, I ended up betraying Tony, I thought he would never forgive me for that, but I just couldn't handle those rules," Peter said.
"Steve hated them too, but he didn't want them completely gone, he wanted them fixed, and Tony worked on a compromise so that the rules would get better," Superman said. "Tony was able to at least get the American Government to lighten up, which is why vigilantism is more common in the States, but it doesn't work like that here, not yet at least. Japan's government is stricter, and while you had good intentions with Izuku, and...it really, REALLY pains me to say this but, telling Izuku he could be a hero regardless...it probably wouldn't have worked out as well here."
Peter couldn't believe what he heard, the fact that Superman sided with All Might on this. During the Superhero Civil War, Superman never truly chose a side. While he didn't agree with Tony's ideology, he didn't want to resort to fighting against the Government. Of course he also wasn't going to track down Captain America, not just because the two were close friends, but because Superman respected what he was trying to do. Thankfully he helped get both into the same room to work things out. The system is still flawed but at least there was an effort to work on it, and there still is.
"Peter, if it's any consolation, I don't fully disagree with you," All Might said. "I know a hero's instinct is to help, and that you shouldn't be registered to do so. Truthfully, I never got mad at Young Midoriya for essentially breaking the rules. Whether it was what he did in Hosu, on I-Island, or even recently with Young Bakugo. Legally I should do something, but I can't bring myself to."
"I should hope so, technically Izuku didn't break the rules the last two times, he sought out non-violent solutions," Peter said. "He had to fight on I-Island of course but that was self-defense. And yesterday, he, his friends, and my daughter helped rescue a kid without fighting at all. I want them to be the best heroes possible, pro or not."
"I know you do, so do I," All Might said.
"Well, sorry for getting heated before, I just want Izuku to realize his dream," Peter said. "He's a good kid, and I'm glad you chose him to be the new One for All holder. It also seems like a big secret, one you can trust me to keep."
"I know I can, other heroes trust you with their secrets," All Might briefly glanced toward Superman as he said that. "So I can trust you too."
"I imagine you also want me to keep this a secret from Twilight," Peter said.
"Well, for now, yes," All Might said. "I hope that's not too hard."
"I hate to lie to her about it, but it's not like she'll ask," Peter said.
"I just might tell her myself, she's a good lady," All Might said.
"Who else knows?" Peter asked. "Given that Supes, Gramps and our cop friend are here, I trust they know too, and obviously Izuku."
"The UA school Principal knows, as does Recovery Girl," All Might began. "Captain America also knows, he's the only one in the Avengers who does."
"Alright, little surprised by the Principal, I trust the nurse has a reason to know and I'm not surprised that Cap knows, given how close you, he and Superman are," Peter said.
"Also your daughter knows," All Might said.
"Wait? Mayday knows? You told her?" Peter asked.
"No...she eavesdropped on some private conversations," All Might said.
"Someone eavesdropped on you!?" Gran Torino asked. "Were you being careless Toshinori!?"
"No, of course not!" All Might insisted. "Well maybe a little but I didn't expect her to be sneaking around like that, plus one instance was out of my hands."
"For your sake, this better be the only instance of a student overhearing this," Gran Torino warned.
"I am really sorry about my daughter," Peter said. "She should know better than to sneak around like that."
"It's fine, both times it's because she was worried about Young Midorya," All Might said. "She's really infatuated with that boy. I almost wonder if it's because she's still grateful he saved her life, or because she's developing feelings for him."
"I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was a crush, she just loves talking about him, it's usually about his progress," Peter said. "Not that it really bugs me, Izuku is a nice boy, and if Mayday's gonna have a crush on a boy, I'm glad it's Izuku."
"Also, Young Bakugo might know as well, Midoriya accidentally spilled the beans a few months back," All Might said.
"Wait, that kid might know too?" Peter asked. "Hope that won't be any trouble."
"So neither you nor Midoriya can keep your mouths shut," Gran Torino said.
"Go easy Gran Torino, mistakes happen," Superman said.
"It's fine, he didn't seem to believe Young Midoriya, so I'm not too worried," All Might said. "That should cover everyone who knows or might know."
"You forgot that former sidekick of yours," Gran Torino said.
All Might sheepishly rubbed his head, "Oh, yeah, Sir Nighteye. Sorry, sometimes I forget who knows."
"What do you mean you forget!?" Gran Torino shouted, freaking everyone out. "This is supposed to be a big secret! Keep track of everyone who knows!"
"Yes sir! Sorry sir!" All Might said, bowing to his superior.
"Come on Gran Torino, he's still hurt, and so are you, so please calm yourself, you need to mind your blood pressure," Superman said. One glare from Gran Torino did put Superman at unease. "If you don't mind that is, sir.
"This guy just freaked out both All Might and Superman, they must really respect him if he could pull that off. Wonder what it was like for Izuku to have trained with this guy, might have put the poor kid through hell," Peter turned to Gran Torino. "Amazing how big of a deal this guy is, and I barely heard about him prior to Hosu."
Just outside the room, Wolverine seemed to be listening in on the conversation. He thought about going in but he wouldn't have much to say outside of asking how their conditions were. Whatever this was, he could talk to one of them in private, "All for One...Once again All Might, you surprised the hell out of me."
Downstairs Goku and Chi-Chi are at the desk, waiting for a chance to see Gohan and Videl. Joining them of course were Goten and Pan.
"This place is packed, lot of people got hurt during the fight last night," Goten said.
"Yeah that makes sense, a lot of buildings were knocked over and people were trapped inside," Goku explained.
"I still can't get over what happened to Spider-Man though, I mean All Might and Superman definitely had it bad, so did The Human Torch and my big brother of course, but Spider-Man, I can only imagine," Goten said. "Even Majin Buu didn't mess me up that bad."
"I'm very worried for him honestly, especially that his wife and cousin got hurt too," Chi-Chi said. "Being a hero is such a dangerous job."
"Yeah, but someone has to do it," Goten said. "Maybe I should look into that career myself."
"Goten, no, you don't need to risk your life like your brother does," Chi-Chi said. "I don't want you in the hospital too."
"It's probably gonna happen regardless, might as well get paid for it," Goten said.
"You have an opportunity for an education Goten, you don't need this job," Chi-Chi said. "Honestly I still hate that Gohan has this as a job, he can do more for the world as a Scholar than a superhero."
"Uh, maybe don't say that out loud Chi-Chi, you're gonna upset a lot of people," Goku said. "Some of these people might be relatives of injured heroes too."
"Still, what kind of job is being a pro hero, if everyone in the world focused on their education, we wouldn't need heroes, because the villains would be too busy working," Chi-Chi said.
"It's not that easy mom," Goten said. "Even those with jobs aren't exactly going to use that for good. Having a job sure didn't stop Norman Osborn from becoming the Green Goblin, or Lex Luthor from doing the stuff he does. Heroes are needed, that's a fact of life."
"An unfortunate fact, what a waste," Chi-Chi said.
Most of this did not go unnoticed by Deadpool, the ninja having just met with his wife, "Can you believe this shit?"
"She's always been like that, just ignore her," Pinkie said. "I'm more worried about you."
"I'm fine, took a bad punch but it's nothing I can't handle," Deadpool said. "I'm more worried about our friends."
"Do you know how they're holding up?" Pinkie asked.
"Logan's on his feet, so is Superman. Peter might be too, by an amazing miracle," Deadpool said.
"Well let's go see them, bring a little smile to their day," Pinkie said.
"Sounds good to me," Deadpool said.
"We should check on the students soon too," Pinkie said, then remembered something. "Say Wade, you think it was really alright to let them continue that mission?"
"Yeah, it turned out alright," Deadpool said.
"Think anyone will know we let them continue? That we basically allowed vigilantism? Pinkie asked.
"I doubt anyone's gonna care, I mean come on, what can happen?" Deadpool said. "We're two of the world's most popular heroes, we'll be fine."
Sometime after the fight at Kamino and everything wrapped up, Izuku, Kirishima, Tenya, Ochako, Momo and Rina had taken Bakugo to the police, letting them know he was safe. He was unusually silent the whole way there.
Once that was gone, everyone went home, starting with Shoto, who was greeted by his sister Fuyumi.
"Shoto, there you are," the Todoroki girl greeted. "I thought something happened to you. After you visited mom you stopped responding to my messages, you had me really worried."
"I'm sorry about that," Shoto said. An explosion then erupted from down the hall, Shoto knowing full well what the result was.
"He's been like that ever since he came home," Fuyumi said. "Feel free to greet him."
Shoto walked down the hall in deep thought, "All Might can no longer be the Number One hero. That spot may finally go to my father, at least in Japan. This is assuming Spider-Man and the others are ineligible."
Shoto peeked inside, and as expected, Endeavor was mad, his training room on fire, "I can't accept this, I should be number one because I earned it, not because he failed!"
At the Midoriya house, Izuku had gone home, the boy was greeted by his mother as she answered the door.
"I just can't believe what a hard time All Might has had," Inko said. "And Spider-Man too, it was terrible hearing what happened to him, his family and friends. I'm just glad you're home, safe and sound."
"Yeah..." Izuku said, making his way inside.
The boy plopped himself onto his bed, checking his phone and reading up on the big fight the previous night. "I hope I did the right thing, leaving him to fight alone. No, he wasn't alone, he had his friends. I just hope they're all alright now." Izuku drifted off to sleep, these thought still clouding his head, one last wonder on his mind. "I hope Mayday's doing alright."
Hours later, Izuku woke up when his phone began vibrating. Upon seeing who it was, he began to rush out the house.
"Izuku! Where are you going? Dinner's almost ready," Inko said.
"Sorry mom, I gotta go!" Izuku said, rushing out the house.
He made his way to Dagobah Municipal Beach where All Might was waiting, the hero just staring out into the ocean.
"All Might!"
The hero turned around, "You finally made it."
"Are you ok!?" Izuku called, running towards him.
"It sure took you long enough!" All Might said, running to Izuku. "Texas Smash!" The boy took a blow to his face, courtesy of the weak but somehow still tough All Might.
"Ow, what in the world?" Izuku said, rubbing his face in confusion.
"You made a promise, but it looks like you can't even keep your word," All Might scolded. "If you kids had gotten hurt then it would have all been in vain. I swear you have some bad influences." All Might specifically had Peter in mind as he said that.
"Sorry..." Izuku lamented.
All Might sighed in pity, he knows Izuku isn't a bad kid, and he can't be too mad at him, he just wanted to do the right thing. "Listen, Izuku. As of now, I am officially retired as a pro. I am unable to fight another battle." He briefly transformed to throw some punches, but that only lasted a few seconds before reverting to his smaller form. "The last sparks of One for All have left my body. My muscle form can't last a decent amount of time. Now I can't protect you when you're in danger, yet you're always rushing in to help no matter what I tell you! Always destroying your body, but back there, you managed to-!" All Might stopped a second when he saw Izuku flinch, so he knelt to hug him, "You rescued your friend without getting injured or into a fight, and I'm so proud of you!"
"Huh?" Izuku didn't expect this reaction.
"From here on out, I will focus only on training you," All Might said. "Let's work hard to make you stronger."
Izuku began to tear up, "Thank you, I'm so happy All Might!"
"You little crybaby," All Might said, ironically tearing up himself. "I thought I told you to stop it with the waterworks."
That didn't stop Izuku from getting overly emotional, it was true, All Might was no longer top hero.
At UA, All Might is in the principal's office along with Vlad King and Aizawa, having his praises sung, "You gave your strength to us for so many years, and though it is gone now, as a citizen, hero and principal, I am forever grateful to you. Unfortunately past instances do not favor your position as a UA teacher. Some believe our troubles began when you started working here. The children may get caught in the crossfire, and you won't be able to protect them. Delicate as this seems, I believe there is a way to ease the public's mind about these matters. By strengthening the faith in the heroes that remain. We will protect and train with more diligence than before. Which is why we will be implementing a plan I had in mind for a while." Nezu showed off a sheet for dorm rooms. "So I am counting on you to convince the students' families."
All Might and Aizawa had begun their convincing of the parents, one of their first stops being the Jiro residence, talking with Kyoka's parents, Mika and Kyotuka, the latter having some concerns.
"Look, I get what you're saying but this doesn't change the fact that my daughter got injured under your protection!" Kyotuko said.
"I get what you're saying Mr. Jiro, but this isn't out school pride talking, we genuinely believe this is the best course of action," Aizawa said. "We would really appreciate it if you let us continue to train Kyoka."
"Wow, formal much?" Came Kyoka's voice as she walked in with some drinks. "We already came to a decision when we got the letter in the mail. Plus my old man respects All Might, you should have seen him during the fight."
Kyotuka grew excited as he reminisced. "Oh right, I totally wrote a rad song about it, the greatest band of heroes, All Might! Spider-Man! Superman! Human Torch! Featuring the Rainbooms' own, Rainbow Dash!"
"He was actually crying his eyes out," Kyoka said.
"Hey! Not cool Kyoka!" Kyotuka whined.
"Imagine me in a band with all those aforementioned heroes," All Might joked. "Of course at least one of them is a Metal Head, not talking about Rainbow Dash either."
"Whoa seriously!? Who is it!?" Kyotuka asked. "Oh! I bet it's Spider-Man! That guy's got the rhythm of a metal lover!"
"Not now dad, and please don't pester Spider-Man about it when you see him, his daughter won't let me hear the end of it," Kyoka said, then focused back on her teachers. "I'm all for the dorms, I promise I'll continue being a student."
"Thank you," Aizawa said, standing up as he bowed to the family. "We promise to take good care of her."
"Yes, we do," All Might added.
Moments later, the two were back in their car, on their way to another house, amazed how well that went.
"Guess I owe you a drink, they were much cooler about it than I expected," Aizawa said.
"Heh, it's fine, I can't drink anyway," All Might said. "Plus the next family won't be so easy."
At the Bakugo house, his mother Mitsuki seemed much more upbeat than expected. "You kidding, hell yeah get this kid in a dorm room!"
She followed that statement with a whack to Katsuki's head, much to his annoyance, "Hag! Hit me again and I'll-"
"Oh shut up!" Mitsuki shouted, whacking his head again. "If you weren't so damn weak you never would have gotten caught in the first place!"
"Please don't fight you two," Came the voice of Katsuki's father, Masara Bakugo.
"Can it clown!" Katsuki shouted.
"Dear if you're gonna talk then speak up!" Mitsuki shouted. "Katsuki, you better not even think about using your quirk right now!"
"What a weird family dynamic," All Might felt.
"Anyway moving on," Mitsuki continued. "We're alright with this whole dorm idea. Katsuki is fearless and talented, helps that he has that stupid awesome quirk. People give him more attention than he deserved at times, which is why he's so stuck up."
"Not too different than Mayday Parker," Aizawa heard about how she too got praised for every little thing, especially by Tony Stark.
"But it's why I appreciated the nice things you said at the Press Conference," Mitsuki continued. "That's how I knew the school was watching him closely, and during this whole thing I was worried about him but I'm just glad he's back. UA's gonna get crap from the public but hey, lots of great people and places get that. He's a hot-tempered brat and we know he's a pain, but please train him hard and make him a good hero."
All Might whispered to Aizawa, "I owe you a drink for this one."
After this was wrapped up, the two teachers had left, ready for their next assigned home, Aizawa checking his phone. "Let's see, Midoriya's house seems close by."
"Hey, All Might," Katsuki said, making his way outside. "Tell me, what is Deku to you?"
After some initial hesitation, All Might began to speak, "He's my student, just like you. I see you both as fledging prospects in heroism." "Sorry, but that's all I can say."
"Dammit Katsuki! The police said not to wander off alone!" Mitsuki shouted.
"Fine, don't tell me the real reason," Katsuki said, walking back into the house. "Thanks, by the way. If you see Spider-Man, give him my gratitude too. I hope he's alright."
All Might seemed impressed by this young boy's current demeanor, no anger, no frustration, just genuine appreciation.
"Katsuki!" Mitsuki shouted.
"I heard you!" Katsuki shouted back.
"Let's go All Might," Aizawa said.
"Hey, question," All Might began. "You think you can let me handle Midoriya? We gotta talk to all the parents by the end of the day, it'd be easier if we split up."
"Are you sure?" Aizawa asked.
"It should be fine, maybe I'm just feeling optimistic," All Might said.
"Alright, you handle Midoriya, I have to tend to the next family, and I already know it won't be easy," Aizawa said.
"Is it the Parker Family?" All Might asked. "I talked to Peter before, and he didn't seem like he was against Mayday returning."
"Honestly, it's not just Spider-Man I'm worried about," Aizawa said. "Rumor is that Flurry Heart's parents are in town. So it's her I'm not too sure about."
"The Prince and Princess of The Crystal Empire?" All Might asked.
"Given the danger their daughter's been in, plus the injuries that the Amethyst Sorceress sustained, it's safe to say that neither of them will be in the best mood," Aizawa said. "Especially Flurry Heart's father."
"Shining Armor, Former Captain of Equestria's Royal Guard, one of the fiercest warriors in the country," All Might said. "I can imagine...Maybe I can come, it'd probably be easier if-"
"It's fine, I think I can talk some sense into them," Aizawa said. "I know it won't be easy but it's not impossible."
After a short drive, All Might had arrived at the Midoriya apartment, the two nervously greeting him.
"Welcome to our home All Might," Inko nervously greeted.
"Yes, it's great to see you both," All Might said. "May I come in?"
"Absolutely!" Inko said, awkwardly walking back inside. "He's really here, I can't believe it."
"Be cool, mom," Izuku said, just as nervous himself.
All Might walked in and noticed Izuku's room, it was full of All Might merchandise of course, not that he expected differently. There was some other hero stuff mixed in, including a toy replica of Captain America's shield and Superman's cape.
As he made his way inside, he was surprised to see another guest was here, "Wolverine?"
Indeed the Uncanny Wolverine was in the Midoriya home, the hero waving to All Might, "How's it going, bub?"
"Oh right, Mr. Logan here came by earlier to check on my son, apparently it was at the request of his daughter," Inko said.
"Rina Howlett?" All Might asked.
"I was surprised too," Izuku said.
"Don't be, my daughter's grown pretty fond of you lately, started when you two fought that muscle bastard at the camp," Logan said. "She admires yer grit and determination, and well after yesterday, she felt like you were a bit out of it. My daughter is tough as nails, just like I am. But like her mother, she's also a gentle soul who cares very much about anyone who she considered a friend."
"She sounds really nice, wish I could see her for myself," Inko said.
"Rina and Fluttershy would be here too, but we're expecting our own visitors, Class A isn't the only one with Dorms after all," Logan said. "The wife is still waiting to talk face-to-face, see if they can convince us. If they need me, I'm a phone call away, but I'll let her do the talking because honestly, I don't think I can talk straight if it's about my daughter."
"Well, regardless it's great that you came by Logan," All Might said.
"Well, since you're here, I guess I should get going, this seems kind of personal," Logan said. "If I hurry I can probably make the meeting anyway."
"Actually, Mr. Logan, if you don't mind, I'd like your input," Inko said.
"On what?" Logan asked.
"It's about what you said, that you couldn't think straight about your daughter attending UA," Inko asked. "Do you not trust them?"
"That's quite a question, before I tell you, answer me this, do YOU trust them?" Logan asked.
"No," Inko bluntly admitted, surprising everyone in the room. "I know about UA's Dorm plans, and I refuse to allow Izuku to be part of that."
"But mom! Yesterday you were alright with me staying in UA!" Izuku said.
"Well I changed my mind," Inko replied. "Izuku has admired you since he was a kid All Might, even when he didn't have a quirk. When one suddenly appeared, I was so happy for him, he was able to follow through on his dreams. But since enrolling at UA, my child just keeps getting hurt. For heaven's sake, if he injures his arms more than he has, he may never use them again."
"Mom, I'm fine," Izuku insisted.
"You're fine now, but next time you may not be fine Izuku," Inko said, focusing back on All Might. "Please don't take this the wrong way. As a citizen I am grateful for what you do. But seeing what that man did not only to you, but all the heroes there, including Mr. Logan here, it honestly terrifies me. Izuku wants to be just like you. If he follows your path, his future will be filled with unimaginable violence."
Logan pitied this woman, he knows how she feels, he's seen parents like this before, especially at the X-Men Boarding school. Granted hero programs there are optional, the amount of kids he's seen getting hurt did not settle well with him, and the fear of their parents didn't help that situation. As a parent himself, he greatly relates to their plights.
"Izuku is my son, so I'm sorry, but I can't trust UA with his safety," Inko said. "When Izuku was quirkless, he seemed content watching the heroes fight, maybe it's better that way."
"But mom!" Izuku pleaded.
"Honey, I told you I support you, but I would never stop worrying," Inko said. "I can't take this anymore, I can't let you go and get hurt. You may want to be a hero to protect others, but as your mother, it's my duty to protect you."
Izuku wasn't sure how to react, he shouldn't be surprised but, "Wolverine, is there anything you can say to help convince my mom?"
"No, sorry kid," Logan said, this answer upsetting Izuku. "Convincing a concerned parent that their child will be safe is the hardest thing anyone can do. Do you know how I felt when I got confirmation that villains did invade that camp of yours?"
"Worried?" Izuku asked.
"I was scared to death kid," Logan said. "Me, Wolverine, the hero known for bloody and violent brawls, who would take down an army in seconds, still felt scared that night, because my daughter means the world to me. If anything happened to her, that would do more damage than even a punch from The Hulk. I'll take a hundred of those punches over the pain of anything happening to my daughter, or any of my other kids."
"You have other kids?" Izuku asked.
"A lot, living as long as I have, I've formed a lot of families, most of them taken from me unfairly," Logan said. "I have felt the loss of a wife, and the loss of a child. Pain so intense that no healing factor can rectify a wound like that."
"I'm so sorry to hear that," Inko said.
"So I know how you feel ma'am, and this is why I can't talk when it comes to my daughter, because I know I might end up wanting to hurt one of the teachers," Logan said. "I know Rina wants to stay, and I do want to support that. Plus, she is my daughter, and I attract a lot of enemies, so I want her to train and get stronger, which to UA's credit, they have helped her get better. But, I still have my doubts."
Inko took a moment to register what Logan had to say, as a parent himself, he knows how she's feeling. Part of her does want to agree, but she can't help but feel like her son will be in danger if she lets him join. However, she's not starting to wonder if he'll be safe even if he's not in UA.
"Mr. Logan, do you know if there's any place more qualified than UA?" Inko asked.
"Mom, UA is the top school in Japan, there's no place more qualified," Izuku said.
"If they're really that great, then why do you keep getting hurt!?" Inko asked.
"It's my own fault! I caused my own injuries because I never listened when my teachers told me not to overdo it," Izuku said.
"What kind of teachers can't get through to a student? Sounds like the hype around this school is completely overrated," Inko said. "You don't need UA, I'm willing to bet a lot of top heroes didn't need UA."
"But mom..." Izuku said.
"She ain't wrong kid, Cap never went to UA, and he's the Top Pro in America," Logan said. "I never went either and, not to brag but, I place very high in Canada. It surprises me, I never fancied myself the hero type, but that shows that if I can pull it off, you definitely can. I don't think you need UA, I don't think my daughter needs it. I have no problems sending her back to New York to train with the X-Men. I'd offer that to you too, but I don't know if yer mom would be comfortable with you going overseas."
"I probably would, if that place is safer than UA and they can help my son be a hero without putting him in danger, I just might consider it," Inko said.
"What!? Mom you can't send me to New York by myself!" Izuku said.
"Well, what else is there?" Inko asked. "If you're that adamant about it, we can find another school in Japan then. You don't need UA, and unfortunately All Might can't protect you. Find somewhere else to train, honestly do you even need a hero school?"
"I can't believe this!" Izuku shouted. "How could you do this to me! You know it's my dream to-"
"Kid! Don't raise your voice to your mother," Logan warned. "I don't tolerate that type of disrespect, she's worried about you, understand how she feels."
"How can I understand!? I can't just give up on my dream!" Izuku said.
"Keep this in mind, your dream could be her nightmare," Logan said. "You know how hard it is for a relative of a superhero? For a friend? I've seen just how worried Spider-Man's aunt gets, the man's in his 30s and his aunt still worries about him when he's out there! Her daughter is in her 20s and she still gets worried. I could only imagine how she felt the other day when All for One tried to kill the both of them. The poor woman's had a heart attack over stuff like this. Not an exaggeration either, she's literally almost died from the worry of her two kids!"
Izuku felt he was in a losing battle, not only was his mother not budging, but Wolverine was also making this difficult too. Of course he knows they're just worried, and he does understand how worrying it can be, but he can't just give up his dream. In a huff, the boy stormed off and ran to his room.
"Izuku!" Inko called. Though it meant nothing, she knew her son was mad, something rare from the boy.
"Sorry, it's probably my fault, I shouldn't have gotten so heated," Logan said. "This is why I couldn't be at home, I would have gone off much worse, I know my daughter would have hated me for it too."
"It's not your fault, I'm the one trying to make these changes for him," Inko said. "I'm just being overprotective, I know."
"You have a right to be, your son's nearly been killed," Logan said. "Sometimes a parent has to make tough choices, you know what's better for your son."
"This is my fault actually," All Might said, getting the attention of the other two. "Young Izuku looks up to me, he just wants to follow in my footsteps and study where I did. There are times I could have done a better job at keeping him safe, all my students, and I failed. I don't blame you for not trusting me Mrs. Midoriya."
"It's nothing against you, really," Inko said. "I just feel like-"
"Wait up!" Came Izuku as the boy rushed back inside. "It doesn't have to be UA."
"Huh, changed his mind quickly," Logan said.
"Mom, All Might, Wolverine, please, take a look at this," Izuku said, holding out a letter. "I got this when I was at the hospital, a note from a boy I saved. His name's Kota, he hated heroes and quirks, yet he thanked me for saving him."
"Did you say Kota?" Logan asked. "Rina told me about him, she actually got a letter too."
"Of course, she was there after all, we saved him together," Izuku said. "This note means everything to me, for the first time, I felt like a real hero. It made me so happy."
"I see..." All Might said.
"I know what I'm meant to be!" Izuku said. "Whether its at UA! Professor X's School! Or anywhere else! I swear I will be a real hero!"
"Young Midoriya..." All Might buffed up, taking on his muscle form. "You have grown so much, you are really coming into your own, and I am so proud of that." All Might knelt into a Dogeza bow, "I'm sorry ma'am, I have not been upfront. Please let me try again, I have absolute faith in Young Izuku to take on what I had left behind. I want him to be the World's Next Symbol of Peace."
Izuku looked amazed that All Might even considered that for him, though Logan looked a bit concerned by that statement.
"All Might, what is this?" Inko asked.
"An apology, I was too focused on living up to being his hero and not his teacher, for that I'm sorry," All Might said, then reverted back to his skinny form. "Please, forgive my past weakness. I know I have encountered a past filled with cruel violence, which is why I want him to find his own path. Free of my mistakes."
"All Might..." Izuku said, amazed by what was before him.
"UA knows things can't continue as they've been," All Might said. "We want to ensure the safety of our students, our number one goal. Focus not on the past mistakes, but the future triumphs. Will you allow me to guide Young Izuku? I will protect your son, even at the cost of my own life!"
Inko fell to her knees in amazement, startling her son and Logan.
"Mom!" Izuku went to help her. "Are you alright?"
"All Might, please. You are my son's reason for living," Inko said.
This took Logan by surprise, "What does that mean?"
"I don't hate you, or UA," Inko reassured. "I just want Izuku to be safe and happy. So please don't give up your life, All Might. Just protect him, raise him. Promise me you can do that, and I will allow him to return to UA."
"I promise," All Might reassured.
"Izuku, if you want to go back, just promise you'll be extra careful," Inko said.
Izuku teared up a bit, wiping his eyes, "Of course."
"All Might won't be alone ma'am," Logan said, getting her attention. "As a pro, and a fellow parent, I'll do my best to keep an eye on your son. We all will."
"Thank you, Mr. Logan," Inko said.
"Just Logan is fine ma'am," the hero said. "If you ever need support, I can help set on up. Back in New York, there's a Church that hosts a group called Lookup, specifically held for relatives of pro heroes. I can't exactly fly you down there, but I can see if someone around here is willing to start a group like that."
"That actually sounds like a lovely idea," Inko said.
All Might stood up off the ground, turning his attention to Logan, "By the way, Wolverine. That goes for your daughter too, I'll keep an eye on her." All Might bowed in respect. "You have my word."
"You don't gotta bow to me, I ain't worthy of it," Logan said. "Just your word is fine."
"Yes, of course," All Might said. "And thank you, for your help yesterday."
"Just doing my job," Logan said, then turned to Inko. "Ma'am, thank you for your hospitality."
"It's the least I can do for a hero like yourself," Inko said.
"Izuku, yer a good kid, and yer gonna make a fine hero," Logan said. "But remember this, hero in training or not, yer still a kid. Don't take on more than you need to. Spider-Man did that, and it messed with him at your age. If there's a problem, try leaving it to the adults, it's not that you can't do it, it's just that you shouldn't have to shoulder that responsibility."
"Uh, sure, I guess," Izuku said.
"Just food for thought," Logan said, making his exit. "See you next time I go to UA. Hell, my daughter may just want to invite you over for dinner. Wife makes a great stew if yer interested."
"Thank you, sir," Izuku said.
All Might was relived this was pulled off, he did have to wonder one other thing, "I hope Aizawa's had luck."
"Hey, All Might," Logan said, getting the hero's attention. "Before I go, just want to thank you myself, you fought bravely, yer really full of surprises."
"It's no trouble," All Might said.
"That offer I gave to Izuku, I can extend it to you as well, especially if you ever need to tell me your problems," Logan turned to All Might. "I'm a VERY good listener. Helps having a long hearing range, unless a villain starts rambling. You wouldn't believe the things they just blurt out," Logan held up One finger. "For All to hear."
All Might's eyes widened, as if having his own sudden realization. Logan made his complete exit, leaving the former Number One Hero at a loss for words. Even Izuku began to pick up on the situation before him.
"What's gonna happen now?" the boy wondered.
At the Parker Family condo, Aizawa had made himself comfortable on a couch, or as comfortable as he can be. Peter did not look too happy, it still amazed Aizawa that he looked just fine, not even a scratch on him. Compared to what he saw on TV, along with some photos, he was surprised that there was nothing at all to suggest that Peter had taken that bad of a beating. The spider hero was the only parent present of course, Twilight was still at the hospital, not yet cleared to leave. Aizawa knew that too would be on Peter's in addition to his cousin Peni, whom Peter affectionately calls his little sister.
Despite that, Peter wasn't alone on the couch, both Mayday and Flurry were beside him, the two girls seemed kind of nervous, they could feel the tension.
"I trust you know why I'm here," Aizawa said.
"Yeah, it's pretty obvious," Peter replied. "You want to know if I'm alright with Mayday staying in the dorms. I'll save you a speech. If you want Mayday to stay there, that's fine, I'll allow it."
"Something tells me there's a catch," Aizawa said.
"You bet there is," Peter said. "See, if I wanted to, I could sue you and UA for lying to me about my daughter's whereabouts. I know a really good lawyer that could help me with that too, he's not someone you wanna mess with. I guarantee I would own that school and you'd be under my employment, that's if I keep you on board."
"I'm fully aware of what could happen if you took legal action," Aizawa said.
"Fortunately for you, I'm not going to take action, because I still have some respect for UA and it's staff, I am a graduate after all, and after everything that's happened, I trust you've come to your senses that the way you're doing things now isn't the way it should be done. So I will give you that chance to prove yourselves, but here are my terms."
"What are they?" Aizawa asked.
"I want more access to UA, that includes permission to go to Campus whenever I please, not only to check up on my daughter but to make sure those other kids are safe," Peter said. "I will also be a tracking device on her and know where she is at all times."
"Dad, you can't be serious!" Mayday shouted.
"I'm dead serious, now don't interrupt!" Peter scolded.
"But dad!" Mayday pleaded.
"Mayday! Enough!" Peter shouted, silencing his daughter's protests. Peter rarely raised his voice to her, so Mayday knew he meant business this time, and the last thing she wanted was to make him even more upset. With that settled, Peter focused back on Aizawa. "Now, if you agree to those terms, then Mayday can go back, and I won't take any legal action. Do we have a deal?"
"I suppose we don't have a choice," Aizawa said. "I'll run it by the principal, but I believe he'll come to an understanding."
"I won't be too much of a bother, and I'll try not to be a helicopter parent," Peter said. "I do want my daughter to grow on her own, but if I get the slightest bit worried, I'm barging in."
"Alright, we have a deal," Aizawa said. "As long as you don't get carried away, in the end it's still our school, if you give us a reason to, we can Lawyer up as well."
"Fine by me," Peter said, somewhat begrudgingly. "Mayday will be living in the dorms then."
"Hope they're as nice as the ones at the School of Friendship," Mayday said.
"I can't make any promises," Aizawa said. "By the way Spider-Man, you only mentioned your daughter Mayday, what about Flurry Heart?"
"You'd need to talk to my parents about that sensei," Flurry said, then called out. "Mom, dad!"
Aizawa took note of the extra pair of parents, Shining Armor and Cadance, the two making their way toward Aizawa. Out of the two, the father looked furious.
"Prince Shining Armor, Princess Cadance, it is my honor to be in your presence," Aizawa said.
"That makes one of us," Shining Armor said, Flurry already dreading this.
"Shining Armor!" Cadance scolded, then turned to Aizawa. "Forgive my husband, he's been worried."
"Of course I'm worried, my daughter has been under the care of inept fools!" Shining Armor shouted. "I don't know who to be mad at more, the school for allowing Flurry to be in danger, or me for thinking she'd actually be safe! I can't believe you lied to Peter about my daughter's whereabouts! That's highly suspicious!"
"Auntie Applejack was there daddy, same with Remy. They kept me as safe as they could," Flurry said.
"Well it wasn't good enough!" Shining Armor said. "I'm not as nice as Peter is, I have half a mind to take action myself!"
"Please don't make this worst dear," Cadance said. "You know UA wouldn't intentionally put Flurry in danger."
"They're still responsible!" Shining Armor shouted. "For Celestia's sake dear, first Flurry got trapped in a building with an army of villains and had to wait forever for All Might to show up, a hero who should have been there in the first place! Then she gets injured by some wannabe ninja! After that, she got taken hostage by some villain leader in a public place! Now she was nearly killed out in the forest by some local villains! Beyond that, Peter's enemies came all the way from New York to help with that! I'd say she comes back to The Crystal Empire; she'll be safe there!"
"Dad! No!" Flurry protested.
"Don't argue this young lady!" Shining Armor warned.
"Shining Armor," Peter said. "If I can say, I fully understand what you're going through, and it is your choice in the end but, I am taking it upon myself to keep an eye on the school. I hope that's enough to make you reconsider."
"It's really not Peter, while I commend you for telling us and not hiding anything, the reason she wants to be a hero is because she followed your example, in a way I hold you partially responsible for anything that has happened to Flurry," Shining Armor said.
"Dad come on, Uncle Peter does his best to keep me safe! Stop blaming him for everything! It's so annoying!" Flurry shouted.
"Flurry, it's fine," Peter said. Truthfully expected this, each time Flurry was in danger, her father usually found time to chew him out over it, "Shining Armor, I don't blame you for being mad. I promised you I would care for Flurry, if you feel like I let you down, then I sincerely apologize. But, Flurry does enjoy her time at UA, and she's made a lot of friends. I hope you won't take that away from her."
"I'll do what I have to do," Shining Armor said. "Flurry's not going back to UA, she's coming home with me and her mother."
"Shining Armor, please," Cadance said. "This is way to rash of a decision."
"She's my daughter! I have the final say!" Shining Armor said.
"She's my daughter too! I have some say in this, and I say that she should stay here," Cadance said.
"How could you even say that!?" Shining Armor shouted. "Don't you care about our daughter's safety!?"
"Of course I do!" Cadance shouted. "Shining Armor, I know you're worried, I know how much it scared you each time we thought Flurry was in danger! But we can't keep her sheltered forever! When she told us about UA and how she wanted to come to Japan, I thought it was a great opportunity to learn about life outside our Kingdom. If we keep her home, she won't grow as well as she should. She struggled back home because everyone treated her differently for being a Princess, and she rarely got to interract with other children her age because of that, here she feels like she's another kid and it relieves her of all the pressure she's under. Most of it at least, she is trying to uphold the status of being a Princess, but she's also able to relax and have some fun. Don't take that away from her."
"I...I don't want to, but I just don't want my little girl to get hurt again," Shining Armor said, he turned his attention to Flurry. "I love you so much, I can't handle the fact that you're all the way here where I can't keep you safe."
"Daddy..." Flurry empathized. She can't be too mad, her dad has always been kind to her and always wants to see her happy, but also safe. "I'm sorry you feel that way, but I don't want to go back home yet. I'll miss all my friends. I'll miss Tsuyu, and Shoto, and Momo, and I'll really miss Izuku. I can't just go back home yet dad."
"But how will I know you're safe?" Shining Armor asked.
"I can keep her safe," Peter said, getting the other father's attention. "Shining Armor, you know full well that I would do just about anything for Flurry. I know you're her father, and I can't replicate the love you have for her. But Flurry's precious to me too, and I love her like if she was my own child. When I see Flurry, I see another daughter, a girl who's a sister to my own child. Every catch I offered to Aizawa, I extent to Flurry. I will go to UA to keep her safe, I will do everything in my power to do so. You know full well too, that the only other person who loves Flurry as much as a parent would, is your sister. She loves Flurry because she is her brother's daughter, because she is her niece, her Goddaughter, my Goddaughter. So trust me one more time, I beg you."
Shining Armor could tell how sincere Peter was, all these years he's gotten to know him, he knew that while Peter was a bit weird at times, he could also be trusted. "It's funny, sometimes I get so jealous of you Peter. My daughter loves you so much, I almost feel like she would rather have you for a father."
"You know that's not true daddy," Flurry said. "I love Uncle Peter, but I love you too."
"I'm just the fun uncle," Peter quipped.
"Still, Flurry always talks about you with such admiration, she loves living here with you, she told me that while she misses me and her mother, you being here and being an active parental figure to her, well, it makes her feel so much better," Shining Armor said. "Peter, I am eternally grateful that you care so much about my daughter, and that you do your best to keep her safe. My sister really knows how to pick'em. You are a great father, husband, and uncle."
"Aw...that's so sweet honey," Cadance said.
"Well, it's not gonna be a regular thing," Shining Armor said. "Remember this Peter, if anything happens to Flurry, not only am I bringing UA down, I'm sending you down with it."
"Fair enough," Peter said, then turned to Aizawa. "Remember my rules, they don't apply just to Mayday, but to Flurry as well. Keep my girls safe."
"Will do," Aizawa said.
"So I can stay!?" Flurry asked.
"Yes," Shining Armor said. "You can stay, just be safe."
"Thank you daddy!" Flurry said, running over to hug her father. "I'll be safe, I have Uncle Peter here, I have Mayday, and I have Izuku."
"Izuku? As in Izuku Midoriya?" Shining Armor asked. "That jittery freckled boy?"
"He seems nervous but he's really strong and very cool," Flurry said. "He's also super cute, one of the cutest boys in school actually."
That got Mayday's attention, the girl not looking happy.
"She sounds like such a teenager, it's adorable," Cadance said.
"Well, as long as he's a well-behaved boy," Shining Armor said. "Anyway, we should go. I promised Twilight I'd see her in the hospital by the end of the day."
"Right, we should all go," Peter said. "I'm also worried about Peni, and the rest of our friends."
"Dad, I got a lot of phone calls and messages from everyone back in New York, including Tony, Miles and Gwen," Mayday said. "Did you ever get into contact with them?"
"I texted them both when I got up this morning, I'll call them later and let them know I'm fine," Peter said.
"Before you go Spider-Man, there's one thing I need to tell you," Aizawa said, getting Peter's attention. "I know you do not have the highest opinion of me, and this summer camp situation certainly didn't help. But this goes both ways, I do not have the highest opinion of you, and truth be told, things could have gotten worst, because of you."
"Me? How?" Peter asked.
"That night, six of my students along with a Class B student went on a vigilante mission to rescue Katsuku Bakugo, even your daughter was there in the middle of the action," Aizawa said.
"It was a last-minute decision," Mayday said.
"Regardless, what they did was against the rules," Aizawa said. "Part of my job is to prevent vigilantism, to know that some of my students broke a rule like that is infuriating. To make matters worse, you are likely the reason that happened."
"Hey I didn't tell them to go out and do that," Peter said.
"No, you didn't, but actions speak louder than words," Aizawa said. "It's a known fact that my students look up to you, they admire you. That means that you could have been a major inspiration as to why they took the law into their own hands, because they were following your example. Now I can't prove any of this, after all you're far from the only vigilante, but you are the one who has endorsed it in the past, some of your closest friends have that vigilante lifestyle, including your good buddy Daredevil."
"Well things are different back home," Peter said. "Sometimes you gotta do the right thing, even if a few rules are broken."
"Well this isn't New York, and this damn sure isn't America. In this country, we follow the rules, that is what I am teaching my students, including your daughter and niece," Aizawa said. "You always go on about this phrase, 'With Great Power comes Great Responsibility. Well, you have power Spider-Man. The power to be an influence on my students. With All Might retired, they'll be looking to you even more. So I ask that you show Responsibility and set a proper example for them, because I know you wouldn't want them doing anything dangerous."
This did irritate Peter quite a bit, while he agrees that the kids shouldn't act recklessly and exercise some caution, he didn't appreciate Aizawa's tone. He just wants the kids to figure out the right thing to do, not be told constantly how to do things, all that is gonna do is lead to another Superhero Civil War.
"I'll do what I can for those kids, to teach them the true values of being a hero," Peter said, even if he means it in his own way.
"I hope so. Thank you for your time," Aizawa said, making his way out of the apartment. "Somehow, that wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. But, I do have to wonder what the future will be like with Spider-Man around more often."
Peter took a moment to think things over, wondering how to best approach his newfound role. Aizawa had one point, the kids would most likely be looking up to him to set them straight, this was his chance to help them be the best heroes possible, mixing a little of the New York style with the Japanese culture. "Time to combine East and West.
