Stepping into the locker room set aside for the Support Course, Arashi can't help but feel a bit smug. He's going to crush the competition. Now, that's not to say any of the other students are bad at what they do, far from it, it's just that he and Mei are already notorious for a reason.
Speaking of his partner in shenanigans, she wanders up and begins looking him up and down, trying to figure out what he brought for the festival no doubt.
After a minute she lets out a hum, "Yeah, I can't figure it out. Why don't you go ahead and tell me what you made at home for the festival?"
Arashi shakes his head, "Sorry Me-mei, I can't do that. It'd ruin the surprise."
Mei pouts for a second, which is honestly adorable, before switching to a set of puppy-dog eyes that should be illegal, "Please Mochi? You can't even tell your best friend and trusted partner?"
With great difficulty, Arashi resists, "I'm sorry, you'll have to wait like everyone else."
Mei deflates in an almost comedic fashion while Arashi pats her head reassuringly. Soon enough they're called out onto the field with the rest of the first years and assembled to wait for the athlete's oath and all that.
When Bakugou makes his infamous oath, Arashi cackles internally, 'You just made my job of making you all look like fools so much easier.'
With that done, Midnight comes up and announces that event one will be an obstacle race. As they line up at the start, Arashi can't help the grin spreading on his face. It's noticeable enough that the other Support students and the few Hero students that have interacted with him back away. Except Mei of course, she's finding his excitement contagious and making the threat seem all the worse.
The go is given and Arashi immediately jumps on a platform made by his hard light projectors and does his best Silver Surfer impression, easily escaping Todoroki's trap and continuing onward in his stolen first place.
Cackling with glee, he zooms forward, being the first to encounter the Robo Inferno. Gliding easily past the bots, he steals the electricity from those behind him and blasts those in front of him, frying them with little difficulty.
As he makes it past the Zero Pointers and approaches the fall, he decides that with the lead he has he can show off a bit. Jumping off his board and landing in a sprint, he stows the projectors as he charges the pits. Leaping forward onto one of the ropes, he shows off a skillset that many might find unusual for a mechanic to have, parkour.
Leaping between the ropes and platforms with magnificent ease and grace, Arashi finds himself more than halfway across before anyone else gets to the obstacle.
Arashi's ego is not being helped in the least with Present Mic's commentary, "I can't believe it folks! Arashi Mochizuki of Support Class 1-F is easily beating out the Hero Course's finest! Tell me Eraser, why isn't this kid in Heroics?! His skills are top class!"
1-A's homeroom teacher answers with a sigh, "The truth is, the kid just wants to invent. He doesn't care if he could easily stomp any Villain he came across, he just wants to make gear. Besides, take both mine and Power Loader's word for it, the kid is terrifying enough in a workshop. Imagine if we released him on the rest of society."
Practically hearing the Pro shiver, Arashi lets out a cackle as he finishes crossing the fall. Getting back on his improvised hoverboard, he easily flies over the minefield, leaving all other competitors in his figurative dust.
As he crosses the finish line, laughing his ass off the whole way, he swears he can almost hear the UA staff praying in unison.
