The Chains That Guide a Hero
Chapter 5
This took so long to just get around to writing this, and I apologize to those who are fans of this story. But now we'll be dealing a bit more with Izuku's new role and how he relates to Momo and Bakugo. And maybe some pieces of what he's been investigating. On with the show.

After the students called out to Izuku, they led him to the roof. So they can hopefully discuss things away from the others. When they get up there, Izuku just has a relaxed look on his face. As he somewhat guessed what they wanted to discuss. "Well, you've got me up here. What did you need to talk about?" Bakugo looks to his right before letting out a tense breath.
"I think you know part of why we asked us up here," the explosive boy says before leaning against the wall near the door. He offers to let Momo speak first, but the girl just nervously defers to him. "Fine. Look… back when you were diagnosed quirkless….. I know I wasn't the best person. I was quick to put you down. Came up with that terrible nickname….. all because….. everyone, even you, bragged up how great of a hero I would be in the future. And yet I knew. I knew that you would be the better hero if you ever had the chance." Bakugo goes on to say, even as a kid he could tell that Izuku had the heart to be a great hero. And it scared him.
"Then when you disappeared; or I guess you and your family were transported to that weird dimension. All I thought of at first, was that I'd never get the chance to be a hero beside you. While others were thinking about how to show off or be big heroes that way, I started to ask myself, 'what would Izuku do?' to give me an idea of how to be the hero I knew you probably could be." Bakugo says with a dry chuckle. Izuku is shocked by all of this, especially that Katsuki thought he could be a hero without a quirk.
And then he smiles at the fact that his early tormentor started thinking about what he could do to be a better hero. By thinking of what Izuku himself would think of first. "I guess that does make sense. Back when I was diagnosed, I was so caught up in accepting that I wasn't like everyone else. And trying to think of a way that I could still be a hero. Guess I just couldn't see what everyone else was thinking because of that." The childhood friends give each other a small smile, before chuckling at where life had led them.
"I hope you can teach us plenty about being a hero now Izuku. Because you've been doing this for a lot longer than we have." Bakugo says before walking over and putting up his fist. Izuku's smile grew, and fist bumped his old friend with a nod. Before mentioning that he'd be more focused on teaching them more about the realm he's fought in.
With his piece said, Bakugo decides to leave Izuku and Momo to talk. "I'm betting what you want to say Ponytail, has more to do with what might have happened between you two. Anyway, see you later Teach. And say hi to auntie and uncle for me the next time you go back." With a wave of his hand as he is walking away, Bakugo leaves the Legionis and the Yaoyorozu heiress on the roof.
Momo meanwhile isn't sure on what first to say to Izuku. So, the officer and teacher decides to break the ice himself. "How have you been? Since….. well, you know." "I'd like to say I've been good… but really I've only been better in the last few years or so. That place we got dragged to….." Momo starts to say but Izuku notices it in her eyes. As well as noting her trembling.
Momo mentions that for a while after her family returned from the Astral Plane, she would have nightmares. "For years really. They still pop up from time to time. I still feel the effects of whatever that place was. Still feel like there are attacks coming for me and my family. Even if I know I'm safe." Izuku nodded before noting he had issues for a while as well. And was only able to face them thanks to working with the agents of Neuron.
"They helped a lot with my fears. Even more so when I decided to train and become a Neuron agent myself." "I see. I never got the chance to thank you either. You saved me and tried to help us when you didn't have a clue on what to do. After that, and after I got some help, I started to wonder what you would do. What kind of hero would you be if you were in my place?" Momo says with a smile of her own. She then mentions that her father was looking to mass produce any technology that was brought from the Ark.
Izuku snorts before joking about looking for a profit. But this gets Momo a bit indignant, and she pouts before saying it wasn't like that. "He was thinking about wanting to help others by making the technology accessible to everyone! And making sure-" "Momo. I'm joking." Izuku says with a snort. Which makes the heiress halt and give Izuku another look of annoyance.
"Anyway. Was there anything else you wanted to talk about, Yaoyorozu-san? If not I do need to head back to the faculty lounge. Need to catch up on some matters." Izuku says with another teasing look to the girl he played with so long ago in Hokaido. Who was now his student. So that's a bit of a change. "Actually yes. There is one other thing Midoriya-sensei. But its not for you. Its for Izuku." Momo says regaining her composure. Izuku just raises his eyebrow before and is about to ask what she means.
But then Momo rushes over to him and kisses his cheek. This makes Izuku freeze up a bit, before gaping like a fish at the onyx haired girl's actions. "Just a little thank you for saving me. I'm glad you're back Izu-kun." Momo says with a blush. She then runs off and leaves Izuku standing with that. And he is frozen for about 5 minutes before an extra listener decides to speak up.
"If it wasn't for the fact I had heard all of that before, I might be more concerned about a student being interested in a teacher that way." Izuku hears behind him. The one observing had been none other than Aizawa. He has a big shit eating grin on his face and looked about ready to start messing with his young assistant. "Can we-" "There's no way I'm going to forget that. But I will let it slide at the fact it was just a thank you from a friend from long ago. So long as it doesn't go anywhere else, it's fine." Aizawa says before telling Izuku he had to go over the details from the apprehension test.
With the talks done, and Izuku having shaken out of his surprise at Momo's actions, the agent can get down to some other work he had taken on. He had been looking into the attacks by the Hero Killer and was looking to track the man down. He had almost 40 dead heroes to his name, and Izuku had no intention of letting that number grow. He had already noted where the villain preferred to attack.
"He likes to lure his prey to locations way away from major streets. Alleys, shadowed parks, abandoned buildings. Normally I'd want to track him down with the beast, but he doesn't leave anything of his behind. No items, hair, or blood. Maybe if there…." Izuku starts thinking aloud before starting into a ramble spree of trying to put together how to capture the villain.
With his coworkers wondering if he's gone a bit insane. Vlad King and Power Loader ask Aizawa if his assistant was okay first. With the insomniac laying in his sleeping bag. He looks over to Izuku and flatly says, "I don't care. Now leave me alone I want to sleep." When Aizawa turns over, Vlad notes that both of the A class instructors are a bit off. "At least in Aizawa's case we understand. But… okay the kid's eyes are glazed over too. Should we call someone?" Power Loader says with an uneasy look.
Midnight decides to have a bit of fun with her new coworker. She saunters up to the young man, who barely notices she's there. She then sits down on his lap while facing him. Still barely registering that an older woman has decided to toy with him. And then for the final piece, she just kisses Izuku's cheek.
This bit of contact, added to the others, is enough to shake Izuku out of the ramblings. And he promptly blushes when he realizes the position he is in. "Wha!? Buhh! How? When did this happen?!" Izuku says while starting to flail back a bit. And then the two fall back off of the chair. When Izuku shakes his head out of the shock, he notices that the two of them are in an even more compromising position than before. With Midnight straddling his hips.
The R-Rated Hero's smirk just grows into a very sultry smile as she looks down at Izuku's hands on her hips and then to Izuku's nuclear blush. "Well now. I was just looking to wake you up. But maybe we should take this to the bed?" Midnight says while putting a hand next to his cheek.
Suddenly though she is sprayed with water to her face. She winces away and Izuku notices the school nurse, Recovery Girl, standing next to the two with the bottle in her hand. "I'm not entirely surprised but I still can't believe I have to say this to you Nemuri. Down girl, none of that today!" "What about a different day? Ack!" Midnight quips back before getting sprayed again. A few of the other men in the room have a chuckle at Izuku's expense. Snipe though goes over to help the young teacher up.
"I'd watch yourself with her bub. She's a hunter." Snipe says in warning. Izuku gulps before trying to move away from the now wet female teacher. Snipe then asks for a bit of help with a different matter. "I'm in charge of the seniors, and they could definitely use some idea and more background on what you deal with. I asked a few to stay later, so could you give a quick presentation on it?" Izuku is a bit surprised but quickly shifts to professional and agent mode and gives the marksman hero a quick affirmative.
Snipe nods before escorting Izuku to a lecture hall. In the hall there are ten of the senior students. Namely the Big 3 of UA. Togata Mirio, Tamaki Amakiji, and Hado Nejire. When Izuku walks in a few of the female members of the audience note that he is younger than they are. "Isn't that the guy who's from our world? What's do you think he's going to talk about first? He's kinda cute. Think he's got a girlfriend on the other side? Wonder if he'd let us use some of his gadgets." Nejire starts to ramble to her classmate, Haya Yuyu. The girl then works to try and calm the excitable periwinkle haired hero so Izuku can start.
Izuku pushes away the comments Nejire has and coughs to bring attention to himself and the holographic screen he has put up. "Alright then. Now Snipe has mentioned some of what he wanted me to discuss with all of you. But I feel that letting some of you ask a few questions would be fine. Only three though, before I start into the slight lecture I have in mind. A please keep them serious." Izuku says this with a pointed look to Nejire. Who just gives a bit of a pout to the young instructor.
The first question opened up with was from a Support course student. Who asked, "what is the technology you use exactly for?" "It varies a bit. As a Neuron agent my focus is in the tracking down, containment, and elimination of chimeras. All of the technology I have, especially my Legions, is meant for that." Izuku then demonstrates with the IRIS set up display, as well as the tracking gear, his X-baton, and the Legatus set up.
The next question was about what chimeras were. Izuku looks to Snipe to ask if he could tell everything. But the elder hero signals for him to limit the details for now. So Izuku clears his throat before saying, "Chimeras are entities born from the Astral Plane. But they can also be created in a sense. If a human is redshifted enough, they'll eventually mutate. Most of the time this creates Aberrations (Izuku shows an image of a few) but in extreme circumstances this can also create Chimeras." He then goes on to explain that many of the chimeras have titles matching mythological monsters. As well as noting that Aberrations could be seen without aid. But Chimeras required a special filter or technology to be seen.
The final question asked was a slightly more personal one. "You were taken by these things when you were young right? And you've been fighting them for quite a while?" The one who asked this question with a worried and sympathetic look was Mirio. Izuku just smiles at the only slightly older than him man and says, "that is mostly true. However, I didn't start fighting Chimeras until I was about 18. Normally you have to have about 2 years on the force before you can be recruited to Neuron. But I had shown talent for operating Legions when I was a child. So, they made something of an exception." Before anyone could question more, Izuku stops them before noting that they had to go over some Chimeras that they might run into.
He spends the next hour or so going over the various Chimera types. Especially named ones. Noting the humanoid types, which he compared to foot soldier like, and would sometimes have other odd Chimeras aiding them. To the various power and arm Chimeras that were imposing to look at.
One that intrigues the top member of the Big 3 are the serpent types. Noting how they can move through the ground like he can. 'But they don't have to worry about breathing or anything like that. A terrifying foe to be sure.' Nejire and Tamaki meanwhile is curious about the wing types. Though the former mixes in some questions about Izuku's life on the Ark, while Tamaki is considering new names for his super moves.
With that done, Izuku tells the seniors to review a data packet he was sending to them. And he ends his lecture. On the way back to the teachers lounge though he asks Snipe something that had been bothering him. "People already know about the fact that Endeavor lost his quirk. Shouldn't the people be told what their quirks could be turning them into?"
Snipe just sighs before saying, "probably. But not right now. The reveal of the other side, the monsters that have been popping into our world without us knowing or understanding, its too much. Especially after All Might had only in the last 10 or 20 years had built up some kind of stability. This shake things more than people are ready for." Izuku is a bit worried about the prospects of withholding too much information. But he does see the elder hero's point.
Besides he has a different issue to deal with. First Snipe teasing the young man about what happened with Midnight in the lounge, and then a few of the senior girls eyeing him up a bit during his lecture. "Don't do anything to the students right away. But be careful if you want to see where things could go with Midnight. That is a dangerous road." Izuku sweat drops at his colleague's candor. But he sweats even more when they get back. And Midnight is eyeing the young man up again with a lick of her lips.
Izuku gulps before quickly collecting his materials and leaving for the police station. Hoping to get some clues on where to start his hunt for the hero killer: Stain.
So that is where I'll leave this one. It will be a bit before this one gets updated again. I've got a lot of other stories. Many more popular than this…. At least as far as I know.
