Hello to all the new followers for this story! I get so excited when I get an email notification saying I have review and followers. You all are AMAZING.

The shift was going by fairly smoothly, Brittany and Santana had 3 calls total in the span of about 10 hours so it really wasn't that bad.

"You know, it seems kind of slo-"

Quinn cut Abrams off. "ABRAMS COME ON."

"Whaaaa?" Abrams through his hands up in the air.

"You just jynxed it Abrams, and you know it." Santana shot him a smirk. "If there's a big call, it's gonna be your fault."

He laughed and walked out to the garage. Artie Abrams was an outstanding fire fighter, been on the job for nearly 10 years. He was cool and collected on every call, never panicked. Which is why it surprised nearly the entire house when they brought Quinn in to become the the LT for Squad. It didn't bother him though, he never really saw himself in a leadership position, so in a way he was relieved.

Brittany had gone into the weight room to get a small work out in. She was never really a "gym rat", but ever since she got to the house she felt like she needed to keep up.

Santana came in as usual, sporting her Cheerios sports bra with basketball shorts. She had a white towel thrown over her shoulder, as she casually walked in and threw a smirk and Brittany.

"What?" Brittany turned to grab a pair of dumbells, but it was too late because her pink cheeks came through.

"Nothing, nothing at all."

About 40 minutes into their workout, the alarm rang.

Truck 5, Squad 20, Ambulance 21. Fire at apartment complex at 413 E Lima Heights Road. Respond immediately.

The girls dropped everything and ran to get into uniform. The Squad truck was already taking off, with the Truck right behind. Brittany jumped into the back of the rig, while Santana oh so smoothly buttoned her shirt as she climbed into the drivers seat, and they were off.

Once at the scene, CPT Shuester evaluated the situation. It was bad, thick smoke was coming out from the window's of the third floor while people rushed out from every exit, coughing and stumbling. Santana and Brittany made their way over to those people and brought them over closer to the rig to get them evaluated.

"Hudson. Get your crew together and start clearing floor by floor. We're going to want to be quick and haste about it, and let me know if you see anything that could mean the building could collapse. Fabray, I need your ladder crew to get up to that third story window." He pointed to wear a elderly lady was waving a blanket out of the window to get someone's attention." The LT's nodded in agreement and got to doing what was needed of them.

Abrams and Evans grabbed the ladder from the squad truck and headed towards the area where they would be setting up.

"Alright. Evans, hold the bottom. I'll go up." Evans stabilized the bottom and Abrams started making his way up.

The scene was chaotic, but nothing that the crew's couldn't handle.

Hudson had brought someone down from the second floor and Brittany was in the process of evaluating him while giving him some oxygen on the rig.

"It's those stupid kid I tell you!" He exclaimed as he moved the mask off of his face. "Who in their right mind thinks it's okay to make smores in a apartment?"

He coughed, and Brittany made him put the mask back on. "I understand you're frustrated sir, but you inhaled a lot of smoke and you need this oxygen. So please keep it on for me okay?"

He noddded. Brittany looked back at where Santana was helping a teenager bandage up her knee.

A loud crack was heard all across the area, and by the time anyone realized what it was? Artie was free falling from nearly the third story.

"ABRAMS!" Quinn was running from the entrance of the building but she knew that there wasn't anything she was going to be able to do even if she got there in time.

Santana was also running, with Brittany following right behind. Evans was freaking out, I mean- What was he supposed to do? Abrams hit the pavement, and groaned in agony. Quinn knelt beside him, trying her best not to move him too much.

"Abrams? Artie. Artie it's me, Quinn." He was conscious, but in a lot of pain. "We're gonna get you fixed up okay?"

She stood up and looked at Evans. He looked scared, thinking that she was going to chew him out. "It's not your fault, Evans. Okay?"

He shook his head in agreement.

"I need you to take the ladder down to see what went wrong and exactly where it broke. Be careful."

The fire was nearly extinguished, the Truck crew was pushing through with no problem.

Santana was next to Abrams now, stabilizing his neck with a collar. Brittany came over with the gurney and spine board.

"We gonna get you out of here dude, don't worry." Once he was stabilized and on the gurney, he grabbed Santana's hand. "What is it?"

"I- I can't.. feel my legs San."

"We gonna get you fixed up. Don't worry about it." The girls got him into the rig with the help of Evans and Anderson.

Quinn ran up to them before they took off. "Britt, how's he looking?"

"Not good but we won't know for sure until we get to the hospital. Was it, was it the crack you told me about?"

Quinn nodded. "It was. This could've been prevented if Shuester had the brains to listen to me. Or even to Hudson really. Let me know a status on him when you guys get to the hospital okay?" She shut the door, and hit it to let Santana know they could take off.

Luckily, there weren't any serious injuries from anyone in the apartment complex. Just a few scrapes and bruises, which was being taken cared of by another ambulance crew that also got called to the scene.

Once everything settled down, Truck 5 and Squad 20 both headed back to the firehouse. CPT Shuester stayed behind to talk to the fire investigation team.

Quinn was sitting in the common area, watching a re-run of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air when she got a text from Santana.

At the same time, CPT Shuester came walking into the house.

She stood in front of him, with the most serious face that anyone in the house had ever seen her give. "CPT Shuester, we need to talk. In your office."
