Two days have passed since Kiara opened up to JJ...

HMS Pogue

John B and JJ were idling in the Marsh soaking up the sun.

"So she let you in but hasn't followed through with this person she has to talk to?"

"She said she reached out to them the next day" JJ responded.

"Pope said she wasn't on the pull-out last night but that she woke him up by leaving the house this morning. Did she just go straight to your room?"

"When did my life become a drama movie?" JJ sighed "She had planned on it, since she was able to make it through the night before out there, but I ran into when she was leaving the bathroom and we started talking and next thing it was morning and she was asleep on my bed"

John B smiled "What were you talking about?" trying to lay into him for details.

"Started out that she hasn't heard anything from this mystery person, to a bunch of random conversations. It was nice" JJ reminisced.

"Did anything more happen?"

"No" JJ lied, knowing that they naturally found their way into him being the big spoon again.

"You are such a liar" John B protested.

"Nothing big happened." JJ said ending the conversation.

"There is a party tonight at the boneyard" John B started "Sarah and I are going and Pope said he has plans to land himself a lady. You and Kie want to come?"

"Nothing is happening with Kie and I. Still just friends. I will go though."

"Okay. So do you want to invite her or should I?"

"Go ahead" JJ said trying to not seem to eager.

The Boneyard

The Pogue's arrived at the beach and all went their separate ways. Sarah and John B found a secluded place to be together. Pope went right for a group of girls and JJ went to the keg. Kiara turned around to watch the waves crash the shoreline.

Sarah and John B looked over to Kie standing alone "So they both are like in love with one another right?" Sarah asked.

"100% JJ has always had a thing for her, but I am pretty sure its hit some deep level. Now for Kie, she will always play is close to the vest, time will tell tonight when JJ gets the attention of the girls."

"Well until that happens, I am really interested to watch Pope try to be cool with the ladies" she laughed.

"You are right about that" John B joined in on the joke.

Kiara turned around and spotted someone that could help her get in touch with Emmy - her brother Nate. She was able to get his attention and he walked over to her on the shoreline. "Hey!" she said.

"Kie, it's been a while" Nate replied.

"Sure has. How have you been?"

"Pretty good. I am just visiting my parents on a break from school. I ended up at Virginia Tech"

"That is where Emmy wanted to go, how is she?"

"She is there with me."

"Oh, is she here too?" Kiara asked without trying to seem too obvious

"Not here at the beach, but yeah, she is at my parents. She is not really keen on parties as you know"

"I understand, you know I reached out to her recently."

"I know. That is why I came down here, I was hoping to see you"

"Oh" Kiara breathed slowly as she started to feel panic.

"Oh snap, Kiara is talking to a guy. A kook, who is that Sarah?" John B asked as he spotted some drama of the night

"That is Nate, he is a year older than us. He is a good guy, not an original Kook, so he is more tolerable" Sarah responded as she scanned the beach for JJ.

"Where is JJ?" John B said "I expected that a girl would find him first"

"He is next to Pope, maybe being a wingman" Sarah said as soon as she spotted him "Are we terrible people for turning this into some movie"

"Not horrible people. We are just making sure nothing bad happens tonight. We want our friends to be as happy as we are!"

"Yeah. Let's go with that" Sarah laughed.

"So Pope here is in college" JJ said trying to get some excitement from the group for Pope.

"Well what about you JJ?" one girl asked touching his arm.

JJ stepped back, not a typical reaction for him, he cared about Kie seeing him and looked to see if she was still at the shoreline. She was but she was standing with some guy he didn't know. Kiara looked upset and immediately he went into protector mode.

"JJ isn't in college" Pope answered "That isn't really his thing, he works at the Marina."

"Very admirable" the girl responded trying to get JJ's attention.

"Yeah." JJ said not really caring to be involved in a conversation anymore.

"I didn't know you were with Kie" She said in response.

"I am not" he said turning back to the conversation but still concerned about Kie "but I am not interested in you."

"Whoa. That was direct" Pope said finally tracing where JJ's sightline was "And Kie is talking to a Kook, this night is getting interesting."

JJ immediately walked away from the group towards Kiara.

"Oh no, John B, go. Go get JJ" Sarah said as they watched JJ make a bee line for Kie and Nate.

"JJ" John B yelled but JJ was on a mission.

Kiara heard John B yell and looked up to see JJ walking towards her. She really started to panic as she didn't need JJ to get get the wrong idea.

Sarah got up quickly to follow John B in hopes they could both dissuade JJ from approaching Kiara. "JJ." she yelled as well.

JJ stopped in his tracks when he saw that Kiara looked even more panicked. He turned right to see John B and Sarah running to him.

"Who is that guy" he asked Sarah once she finally arrived.

"His name is Nate. He is a good guy."

"Then why does she look scared?" JJ was quick to reply.

"Oh my god. I know what Kie has been hiding" Sarah said as she finally remembered her Halloween party Freshman year.

JJ hadn't shared any details of what Kie had told him, so he just stayed silent during Sarah's recollection of events.

"We should go somewhere with less people" John B said ushering them back to where they were sitting earlier. The three made it to the fallen tree and Sarah started to explain

"So, Nate has a sister named Emmy who was in our grade. Emmy got into a terrible accident that night driving home from the party. She ended up hitting a pole and lost her leg. She came back to school, but was really never the same. Rumors went around that she tried to kill herself twice after the accident. Not sure where she is now."

"What does that have to do with Kie?" John B asked as JJ was putting the pieces together or at least thinking of possibilities.

"I know after that party, Kie and her had a falling out because Kie was miserable for a few weeks, she still hung out with us, but she was very withdrawn"

"That son of a bitch" JJ said.

"Clearly you know something more JJ" John B said.

"We sure Nate is a good guy?" JJ asked wondering if Nate was looking for revenge.

"He is" Kiara said coming up behind her friends with Nate in tow. "Nate, you know Sarah and this is John B and JJ."

"Nice to meet you both and good to see you again Sarah" Nate replied reaching out to shake the boys' hands

JJ and John B both reacted appropriately and accepted the handshake but JJ was his cautious self

"Nate and I are going to go see Emmy" Kiara started "Sarah, can you come with us?"

"Yeah, of course" she quickly replied "We all drove together, so..."

Nate quickly offered to drive them to his parents "then your friends can pick you two up. I will give you my address."

JJ and John B both looked over protective "We can drive the girls over and just wait outside" John B said.

"Yeah, party is pretty lame" JJ agreed.

"Well maybe not too lame, look at Pope over there" Kie said finally finding the last of her friend group.

"I will go tell him to call us if he needs to be picked up" John B said walking away before their arrangement could be vetoed.

"I guess I will meet you at the house" Nate said and waved bye

"Kie, can you explain why you want me to be there?" Sarah asked pulling Kiara aside once Nate was out of ear shot.

Kiara grabbed JJ's hand as Sarah pulled her over but didn't let go once he moved his body closer. JJ squeezed it giving her reassurance. "Sarah, your brother was slipping roofies the night on the Halloween party". Kiara started "He kept trying to get me to drink, but Emmy would take them when I said no because she had a crush on Rafe. I eventually took one of the drinks he offered because he agreed to leave me alone. Then felt really funny about 10 minutes later and realized what he had done"

Sarah interrupted Kiara "Please tell me he didn't do anything to you. I will kill him."

"No, he tried, but I got away. But Emmy got really messed up from all the drugs."

"Did he rape her?" JJ asked.

"I don't know, every time I tried to talk to her, she shut me out. She blamed me partially. Never got the full story"

"I feel terrible. My brother really can never get out. He is a danger to others"

"I know, that it why I am hopeful she will come forward" Kiara added

"So why do you want me there" Sarah asked

"Because I know you would encourage her to report it, I figured if the guys own sibling would say it, she might be more apt. I think she was afraid of retribution at the time."

"Let's go talk to her." Sarah said quickly and started walking towards The Twinkie.
