Chapter 3: DJ's First Love
All DJ ever secretly wanted was to have a love story like his mothers. He might put on tough, fearless, manly front on the outside, but inside he was a complete marshmallow (much like Santana). Previously, he was galavanting over all the women his sister Ari was seeing, however, he found out pretty quickly that he was not the hottest sibling in their high school. So in always feeling sorry for himself, DJ partied hard and learned he very much liked the taste of alcohol.
From all the parties he had attended over the thousands of weekends during schooling months, DJ had rarely seen Ari in attendance. To be fair, he always was the quickest out of the house on Friday and Saturday nights when their moms and aunts had their weekly date nights. DJ knew Ari would get him back someday for that, but he's been on the lookout. On one particular Friday night that DJ managed to escape the very feminine household, he would have never guessed that he would meet his first love: Diana Powers.
Diana was sitting alone on a couch, looking blankly into her red solo cup until she looked up and met eyes with DJ. Her bright blue eyes made his chocolate ones melt, he had never felt his stomach drop in this way before. He was about to walk over when he saw the most annoying jock, Josh, sit next her, and unfortunately DJ knew him as the sleaze ball that was always after Ari. He knew just then that he had to save Diana.
DJ walked over to the couch and cleared his throat, interrupting the two. "Hey, I was wondering where you were!" DJ said slyly.
"What?" Diana said confusingly.
"Get lost, Lopez. She and I were just talking here." Josh said glaring at the somewhat brave DJ.
"I said, there you are! I have been looking all over for you. I thought you said we would meet at the other couch, but I'm sorry it took me so long to find this other couch." DJ told Diana, trying to get her to catch on.
"O-Oh, right! I'm sorry, I should have communicated that to you. Is everyone else waiting for us then?" Diana asked with a grin.
"Yes, come on. I'll guide you to our group." DJ smiled as he put his hand out towards Diana.
"I thought I told you to beat it, blowjob?" Josh said, standing up and getting in DJ's face.
"Oh that BJ joke gets funnier and funnier every time I hear it come out of your dumb mouth." DJ muttered.
The jock growled and put DJ in a headlock. DJ managed to escape his grip and punch the jock so hard that he fell to the floor. Diana and DJ looked to each other, shocked that he was able to knock out the jock. DJ immediately grabbed Diana's hand and ran out of the house, hoping no other jocks would follow them. Finally, they stopped a few streets over from the party with no jocks in sight.
"Well, I think we're safe." DJ said, after catching his breath.
"Yeah, I think so. Thank you for coming to my rescue, by the way. Josh is the absolute worst." Diana said with a smile.
"You're welcome, you looked like you needed to get away from that very "intriguing" conversation." DJ grinned.
"Don't I know you from somewhere? You look very familiar." Diana asked.
"I don't think we have any classes, together….?" DJ asked, hoping to finally get this beautiful brunette's girl's name.
"Diana." She replied.
"Hi Diana, I'm DJ." He blushed.
The two slowly walked down a sidewalk next to each other, willing to go anywhere other than to the party or back home.
"I know where I know you from! You're the family that my dad takes care of most at the hospital." Diana gasped.
"Oh no way, you're Dr. Powers' daughter? That's pretty cool. I wish I could tell your dad that we're just a clumsy bunch, but we are really just unlucky." DJ chuckled.
Diana laughed along with him, finally looking up from the ground and at DJ's face. DJ was about to ask her more questions, when they heard loud shouting from a group of nearby jocks.
"Quick, behind these bushes!" DJ said grabbing Diana's hand and pulling her behind some bushes in front of a random house. Both stayed quiet, trying to not make a sound as the jocks passed by them.
"Josh, just forget it. We're not finding him tonight." One jock said.
"I know he came this way, Slowpez can't be too far. Keep looking!" Josh announced to his friends.
As soon as the group moved passed the two, DJ and Diana looked to each other and laughed. As DJ was about to stand up, Diana pulled him back down to her level. She looked deep into his eyes and kissed him. DJ felt his face flush, never having been kissed before. She slowly broke their kiss, and blushed.
"That was a 'thank you'. I am really glad I met you tonight, DJ." Diana said softly.
"I am really glad I met you too, Diana." DJ blushed back.
Both stood up and walked onto the sidewalk being sure to look both ways before slowly walking again. DJ turned to Diana and held out his hand. "Come on, I'll take you home."
"A hero and a gentleman, too? Boy, did I luck out!" Diana giggled, taking DJ's hand.
Sooner than they wanted, the two arrived at the Powers' house. DJ took Diana up to the front door and smiled at her.
"Thank you for making my night, I really hope we can talk again sometime." DJ said, kissing her cheek.
Diana blushed at his gesture. "I would really like that, especially since our meeting was cut short. Why don't you give me your number and I'll text you?"
The two swapped numbers in their phones slowly, not wanting to end the night. Diana quietly got her house key out of her bag and sighed.
"Good night, DJ." Diana said, opening the door.
"Good night, Diana." DJ replied. He slowly walked down the sidewalk and made his way back to the Lopez/Martinez household.
As he was getting close to home, he saw headlights come up behind him, making him jump. A window rolled down on the passanger side.
"Did we forget to meet at our usual spot for pick-up, míjo?" Santana called from the driver's seat.
"Sorry mama, I completely forgot." DJ told her, getting into the car.
"That's all right, just need to communicate with me next time. Remember, you never say a word to your Mom about me picking you up you or your sister from parties that I'm not supposed to know you're at. It's a good thing you're my carbon copy and I know all the tricks in the book." Santan replied, pulling back into traffic.
"Of course not, Mama. I know Mom would totally freak out if she knew Ari and I go to parties." DJ said.
"So, what do you need tonight: pain meds, Gatorade, trash bag? Tell me what you need." Santana asked her son.
"Nothing, I didn't even drink." DJ replied softly.
"Didn't drink? Míjo, are you okay? This is not like you to be sober before I take you home." Santana asked while at a stop light.
"Mama? When did you know that you were in love with Mom?" DJ asked innocently.
Santana pulled over the car and looked at her son with a shocked expression. "You never ask about love or even listen to the story about me and Mom that we tell Valerie every night. Spill it, Santi. What's going on?" She asked using her son's secret nickname (Remember: Santiago is DJ's middle name, so Santi is short for that.)
"Mama…" DJ blushed.
"Come on, tell me. I can stay here all night, it's your deathbed if Mom finds out." Santana told him.
"Fine, fine. All right, I met a girl at the party I was at tonight, that's all." DJ admitted.
Santana squealed with delight and hugged DJ between the console. DJ rolled his eyes and hugged her back.
"It's not a big deal, Mama. I promise you, you're making a bigger deal out of this for nothing." He mumbled into his mother's shoulder.
"It is not nothing, this is a big deal for you babe!" Santana said releasing him back into his seat.
"Please don't tell everyone about this, I don't want it to be a big deal." The young boy slithered down into his seat wiping his hands down his face.
"Well, here's the thing," Santana told him, pulling back out into traffic. "You know if you tell me, I'm going to have to tell Mom, and she will tell Aunt Jame, wh will tell Aunt Jane, and so on. Your best bet is to just tell everyone all at once and avoid the gossip train."
DJ sighed, knowing she was exactly right. Nothing can be safe in a house full of women, including Jeff who is guilty of spilling his guts to his moms. "I know, but I just don't know what's going to happen and I don't want to disappoint anyone."
Slowly the car pulled into the driveway of their household. All the lights were turned off as everyone was asleep. Santana turned off the car, undid her seatbelt, and turned to the boy. "You? Disappointing everyone? There's no way, honey. All you kids know that whatever you do, whatever you tell us, there is never a chance for any of us to be disappointed in any of you. We love you guys." Santana smiled and exited the car, making her way into the house with her son.
The next day proved true that everyone gleamed over DJ's new love interest. Although DJ didn't show it, he was equally as excited. Diana began texting DJ the next morning, both believing their meeting was just a dream. Luckily enough it wasn't, and the two began exchaning texts outside of school and small conversations during school. The next Friday came and for the first time, DJ didn't run out of the house to go to a party; he was waiting for his date to arrive at the house to accompany him in babysitting Valerie and the twins. Ari came into the living room where DJ was waiting patiently for Diana.
"It's about time I get to go out on a Friday night. If all you needed was a girlfriend to get you to stay home, I would have set you up ages ago!" Ari said sassily.
"Diana's not my girlfriend, Ari. At least not yet." DJ replied. "Besides, how many hookups have you had? Or should I ask how many hookups have you had that you got caught doing?"
"Haha, very funny dick. It's only handful, I think.." Ari said.
"Whatever you say AD, just remember to text Mama where you're at so she can pick you up tonight." DJ said to his sister while looking at his phone. (AD stands for Arianna Danielle)
"Yeah, yeah, I know the drill," Ari said rolling her eyes. "Oh by the way Santi, remember wrap it before you tap it!" Ari called as she walked towards the front door.
DJ instantly got up from the couch and chased his sister out the door before he could even reply. They may seem like a typical brother and sister, but DJ did really care for Ari. She always looked out for him, even when he least expected it. As soon as he shut the door, he could hear the main ladies of the household coming down the stairs.
"Okay, so are we just going to meet at the bar?" Jane asked her wife.
"I guess so, I had knocked so many times on Dani's door with no answer. Typical of her and San to fu—- Hey there DJ! What are you up to?" Jamie said, catching herself before noticing her nephew.
"Just waiting for my friend Diana to come over and hang out. So my moms are at it again, huh?" DJ asked with a grin.
Jane facepalmed and chuckled at his question while Jamie blushed. "I am so sorry you have to put up with those rabbits, babe." Jamie laughed, hugging the boy.
"Hey at this point I am used to it, you can only walk in on naked women so much in this house before you learn to wait and knock." DJ laughed.
Suddenly Dani and Santana came down the stairs with flushed faces and wrinkled clothing. As the three at the bottom of the stairs chuckled at the two, Dani lightly smacked Santana's arm. "I told you they would know, San!"
"Come on, it was totally worth it." Santana replied, grinning at Dani. "Besides, you were begging for my long, wet ton—"
"Okay, I don't think DJ wants to hear about that!" Jamie said, covering the boy's ears.
"So when is Diana coming over, míjo?" Santana asked, looking in the mirror to put her earrings in.
Dani squealed and pulled DJ in for a hug. "Do we get to meet her?"
"If you want, I don't mind. Just please don't embarrass me, okay? The last time I had a friend over, you showed them my birth video. I can't go through that humiliation again." DJ said into Dani's shoulder.
"I promise I will try my best to keep my sister under control." Jamie said.
As soon as he got out of Dani's hug, there was a knock at the door. DJ ran to the mirror, fixed his hair, and sighed happily. He turned and opened the door, just for his heart to melt into chest. Diana locked eyes with DJ and smiled.
"Hi." Diana said softly.
"Hey, come on in." DJ said, moving out of the doorframe.
Diana entered the household to find four women smiling at her. DJ closed the front door and quickly went to her side. "Can I take your coat?"
"Sure, thanks." She blushed.
DJ quickly took her coat and bag and put it in the closet. Before he could even get a word in, Dani walked up to the girl and smiled. "Hi, I'm Dani, one of DJ's moms."
"Nice to meet you, I'm Diana." She said, waving back at Dani.
"This is my other mom, Santana, and to the left are my aunts Jamie and Jane." DJ pipped in. All waved and greeted each other quickly, seeing DJ's face flushing.
"Well, we are off for our double date night. Are you all right to keep an eye on your sister and cousins?" Santana asked, helping Dani get her coat on.
"Yes mama, we'll be fine. Go enjoy yourselves." DJ ensured them.
"Okay, well have fun! It was nice to meet you, Diana." Dani called as she went out the door with the others.
"You too!" Diana quickly called out.
Once the door shut, DJ felt a huge sense of relief. He looked at Diana and smiled. "Want to sit on the couch?"
"Sure, that sounds nice." Diana replied, sitting down next to DJ.
The two sat quietly for a while, not sure on what to say in person. As DJ was going to say something, he noticed they had an audience of Valerie, Taylor, and Jeff from the bannister. Once DJ made eye contact with Valerie, she waved at him.
"I'm so sorry," DJ said, looking at Diana. "I'm going to go take care of this real quick."
"It's okay, take your time." Diana said.
"Guys, seriously? Come on!" DJ said, running after them up the stairs.
The three youngest children ran into the playroom, trying to act natural. Once DJ entered the room, the three sat and tried not to laugh. "Guys, come on. You know not to spy on Ari and I when we have company over." DJ scolded them.
"What do you mean?" Taylor asked.
"Yeah we've been up here this entire time." Valerie added.
"Val, I literally saw you. You even waved at me!" DJ replied.
"Nice job, Val!" Jeff mumbled.
"Now please, do not come downstairs unless—" DJ started.
"We know, we know. Don't come downstairs unless there's an emergency or someone is bleeding. We know the rules, hermano." Valerie said sassily.
"Okay, those have changed a bit since I've been gone. Just don't come down for a couple hours, please? Once Diana leaves, I promise we can have one our D&D game nights like we used to." DJ pleaded.
"You really mean it, DJ" Taylor asked.
"Yeah you promise we will get to play before our moms come home?" Jeff added.
"I promise, have I ever let you guys down before?" DJ asked. All three shook their heads. "Okay, then it's a promise. Thanks guys!"
DJ went back downstairs to see Diana waiting patiently for him. She looked up and instantly smiled when she saw him looking at her. "I was wondering what happened to you."
"Sorry, they mean well, they're just young and don't get context clues." DJ laughed lightly.
"Sure, I get that. I have a little sister too." Diana replied.
"Listen, I have been meaning to ask you this all week, and I'm afraid if I don't ask you tonight, I'm going to regret it." DJ stated, sitting next to the girl again.
"What is it, DJ?" Diana asked.
"Diana, I really have enjoyed getting to know you this past week. I don't know what I have been doing in my life before you came into it. I thought partying and drinking would fill this empty void I have, but I realized I don't need any of that. I just need you, just you." DJ began. Diana blushed and wiped away a small tear from her eye.
"I was just wondering, would you be my girlfriend? I mean you don't have to be, but I just thought—"
"DJ." Diana called, lettng DJ regroup his thoughts. "I would love to be your girlfriend, only if you'll be my boyfriend."
"There's nothing more I would want right now than to be just that." He replied.
"Then it's settled, you're stuck with me… boyfriend." Diana said, as she leaned in and kissed DJ once again.
DJ kissed her back, and carefully lifted his fist in the air. Valerie, Jeff, and Taylor were all watching from the bannister and quietly clapped. From the window, however, Dani, Santana, Jamie, and Jane watched the couple.
"I told you our boy could do it! He got his skills from his mama." Santana said, with sly grin.
"San, you were too nervous to talk to me when we first met. I am the reason we're together… So I think he got it from me!" Dani said cockily.
"Well, whomever he got it from, I'm proud of him." Santana said. Dani leaned her head on her wife's shoulder. "Me too, San. Me too."
Well, I know it's been a long hiatus and a very long chapter, but I hope you guys like this! I plan on writing more chapters for this story and maybe a new story with these characters as well. Please review nicely!
