Have you ever written a letter to your future self?

Dear Future Me.

I was going to say 'Dear Diary' but it didn't sound right. So instead of just writing in a journal, I'm going to pretend I'm writing to you.

Do you remember that class assignment? Our teacher made us write a timed letter to ourselves a year later.

Funny, I'm the only one in class who can literally write to my future self, huh? But that's ok. I know you're never going to read this. I'd just thought I'd put that in here, anyway.

But, I should probably move on to what I was actually supposed two write.

So, here I am, Day 1 into existing as your alternate past self without your fancy Keyblade.

Yesterday, Cid offered to mentor me in Gummi ships! He said you could fly them already! That's so cool! How many worlds have you been to? What are they like? Did it take long to get there? I have so many questions!

Just-

You've been doing this for years already. It's probably nothing new to you anymore, is it?

Do you think, when I finally Disembark, you can show me? Can we go together? The people you met, the places you've been…

Riku was right!

On a side note, I think someone was watching me and Genie yesterday. Maybe it was a bird? A large black feather fell to the street. Weird...

Dear Future Me,

It's been a few days and I'm learning so much! There is a lot that goes into Gummi Ships…

Anyway!

I made some friends! There were these three flying tiny trio of girls snooping around. They were Rikku, Yuna and Payne. "Just three treasure fanatics!" One said.

They weren't kidding either.

Still, they were fun to hang around and sensed I had some sort of 'scoop' on what's going on. I told them to ask Leon.

Also, I met two men with black wings. (The feather I mentioned before).

Sephiroth and Cloud.

Apparently no one liked Sephiroth for some reason and practically swarmed Cloud. I could tell fast how uncomfortable he was, so I made a hasty distraction and dragged both men away.

They told me they were here for me. Or, they wanted to join me when I Disembarked.

Cid went all "Good riddance!" Which, rude.

So I asked them what happened.

I could tell they really didn't want to tell me, so I said no rush. If they don't want to tell me, I won't push. But I did say everyone else's reactions made me obviously wary of them.

They told me they'd think about it and then flew away.

With the Restoration Committee, there was a lot of yelling that night.

I'll write more when I learn more.

Dear Future Me,

After the last entry, we all took a break from each other and Cid gave me the day off.

I bumped into those girls again and they offered a treasure hunt as a distraction. During that time, I bumped into a trio of Ducks: Hewie, Dewie, and Louie. They each ran a separate shop in town. Luckily it was their day off too!

Note to self, never have these two groups interact again. Way too much chaos! (It was fun and definitely worth it, though.)

Ok, I asked Yuffie, and she told me about Donald and Goofy, and how they know you.

Wow!

I asked her not to give me details for obvious reasons. But she made it sound like they were with you literally every step of the way since our Island was destroyed.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized.

You must miss them a lot. To go through what sounds like so much! And to see them here, and for them to not recognize you.

Are you lonely?

Is that why you didn't take the Kingdom back at Traverse Town? Why you took the other?

The Kingdom was like your home right?

Now that you're in the past, what will you do now? For a new home, I mean.

This is so much pressure! Purposely living normally. We used to play pretend with Riku growing up on playing Hero remember?

Dear future me,

Something strange happened today.

I was walking in town when I passed by a shop window reflection. Three people stared back at me.

A girl with long blonde hair in a white dress.

A boy with spiky blonde hair in a white jacket with black checkered border and a metal X as a zipper.

A girl that could be Kairi's twin, but with black hair and matching sleeveless dress.

They all looked at me with sad smiles.

Someone bumped into me. When I looked back at them, they were gone.

But…

A very stuffed sketchbook and a photo album sat upon a bench before the window.

Because I was late to meet up with Cid I had to wait until later to look through them.

Cid found the sketchbook and became the quietest I have seen him as he opened the cover and slowly flipped the pages. When I described what happened, he mumbled 'Namine' ..?

He told me what you told him.

She was Kairi's nobody with power over your memories and those that knew you.

He shut both before taking both books up to his office and shoved in a safe. I chased after him and he told me they were for you, not me.

Being in the past, you'd want the books way more than me because I'll most likely never meet them.

He's right. It sucks, but he's right.

I keep forgetting that you met most of these people because you had to stop Heartless or Nobodies with your Keyblade. I won't get one. So I won't meet them. Not like you did anyway.

But that's ok! Right? It just means I'll make new friends!

I'll go on my own adventures! You'll see! I don't need a Keyblade to make friends! I didn't with the Gullwings or the triplets. I wonder if I can be friends with the two bird-boys? They seemed lonely.

Only one way to find out!

The sketchbook was every sketch Namine ever drew. The album was printed versions taken off of Sora's Gummi phone.

I put Namine, Roxas and Xion because they will no longer exist at all and they wanted to say goodbye using the good 'ol Heart Connections trick.

I remember the Gullwings from KH2 and found them hilarious. And of course Sora would get to know the triplets!

Sora makes friends with anything that moves. Can I get an F for our *snickers* Bird-Boys resistance to Sora?
