Lee looks back at the cabin group and nods. "Yeah, they're with us." The group looks fondly at Lee, particularly Pete and Luke look quite prideful of his choice of words. Clem smiles and nods, agreeing, though Christa simply shifts in place, still overwhelmed.
"We're very grateful for you allowing us into your camp." Luke says.
"Yes, thank you so much." Rebecca adds, holding her stomach. Kenny and Walt stare at her belly for a little too long.
Walter shakes his head. "O-of course. Come on, we should get out of the cold. Follow me." A smile returns to his face as he guides the group forward. Lee, Kenny, Clem, Duck, Christa and Ben were finally reunited. But.. Kenny noticed a few missing faces. Nevertheless, he didn't bring it up in case it would sour the reunion.
The group piles into the entrance of the lodge. Walt and Matthew stand on stairs that would lead into the cafeteria. The interior is warm, highlighted in color with the scent of firewood and something fruity floating in the air. Bright, yellow lights are hung on the walls and railings, flags of each country in the world strung up around the ceiling and a fully stocked bookshelf sits near the fireplace. Music can be heard playing somewhere in the cafeteria, specifically The Nutcracker. And speaking of Christmas music, a Christmas tree could be seen easily with how tall it stood in the lounge area. Sarah's eyes light up.
"Dad, look, a Christmas tree!"
"And music!" Rebecca cheers. Walt and Matthew look comically smug.
"Welcome to our humble abode. Kenny mentioned that he had friends before us, but we had no idea if he was crazy or desperate to get us to believe he was a sociable guy."
"Oh shut your mouth, Matty." Kenny shoots back playfully.
"It's true!" Walt chuckles, shaking his head at the pair.
"Allow us to introduce ourselves. I'm Pete, and this is my nephew Nick,"
"Hey, y'all." Nick nervously says.
"This here is Rebecca and Alvin, they're married with a little bundle of joy on the way."
"Heya!" Alvin greets with a small wave of his hand. Rebecca gives a smaller one.
"This is Luke, my right hand." Luke waves with a smile.
"Carlos and Sarah, father and daughter. He's our doctor."
"Thank you for your hospitality." Carlos greets.
"And of course you know Lee, Clem and Christa."
"It's so cool seeing you guys again." Ducks says, swinging his arms to and fro.
"I missed you, Duck." Clem replies. He smiles widely.
"Yeah, we missed you too! Dad and Travis used to talk about you guys alllll the time, but we kinda stopped recently."
"Travis, where's he?" Lee asks.
There's a silence that overtakes the trio. Ben steps forward away from the pact and clears his throat. "He died for the group, before we met this group."
"Those cancer survivor bastards did it to him." Kenny growls.
"Vernon? Seriously?" Christa looks disgusted.
"We'll talk about it later. Sorry, didn't mean to uh, crap on the mood." Lee asks.
"It's fine! I'm sure you all have a lot to catch up on. Speaking of which, you guys know Ben, Duck, Ken and Matthew, but you haven't formally met Sarita." Walt waves his hand toward Sarita. She steps up from the crowd next to Ben and Kenny.
"Hello! That would be me." She chuckles softly.
Kenny places his hands on her shoulder. "Sarita's my girl. Ain't she beautiful?"
Lee holds his one arm out. "Gorgeous. Nice to meet you, Sarita."
"You too, Lee. I've heard much about you." They let go of each other.
"Yeah, this place is great, we get power from the generator outside, which is powered by a wind turbine. We keep the lights off at night to avoid drawing attention though. One thing before you all get comfy.. Would you mind putting your weapons down here?" Walt motions to a bench near the entrance. Wind could be heard howling behind the group through the door. The cabin group looks uneasy, as does Christa.
"Yeah, no." The widowed woman replies.
"I'll hold onto my rifle, thanks." Nick mutters.
"We ain't bad people, but we need our weapons."
"I gotta agree with Luke on this one. We aren't doing that." Rebecca says. Clem looks up at Lee to see his reaction.
"Please, you're our guests here. You can put your guns down." Matthew says, backing up his partner.
Nick spots Kenny's rifle, which he's been holding onto since they got inside the lodge. "Tell him to put his gun down then." He replies with a bit of rebellion in his voice. Kenny looks with furrowed brows at Nick, who in turn stares back.
Walter turns to his friend. "Kenny?"
Kenny stares down at the group, scanning their faces. He notices Luke's expression of worry, Nick's distaste, Alvin's protectiveness, Rebecca and Pete's skepticism, Sarah's whimsical face just scanning the lodge and Carlos's raised brow. Then he looks at Lee and Christa, the former looking worried and the latter already telling the lodge group their stance. Then he notices 11 year old Clementine, caught in the middle.
"Do you vouch for these people, Clem?" She looks up to see Kenny's calculating eyes. Suddenly, all the pressures on her shoulders, all eyes on her. "If you tell me they're good, then I'm good-"
"Us? You were the one waving' a gun around, man." Nick shot back.
"Hey, hey, it's okay, we're cool, we're cool." Luke repeats, trying to fan the flames erupted by this miniscule interaction.
