The walls light up with more ancient writing. Rose, "Ms. M?" "It says here you will face the trials of the mind to continue on. Do you have the brains to defeat the games."
Veronica, "You know that doesn't exactly rhyme." Donna steps forward, "Well if this is going to be challenges of the mind. Then this is all me." Kattie looking over to the left
sees an open door in the wall. "Hey what's this?" She walks over to it. Looks inside and gags, "Bathroom! It's a bathroom, and not a well-kept or regularly cleaned one." Rose
tells the group, "Come on everybody. Let's get this over with. I don't want us stuck here any longer than we need to." When they come to the door ahead of them Ms. M
reads, "Solve the puzzle to get through to the next." Rose, "Okay everybody look around for any sort of puzzle." Cassie finds a picture cube. "I think I found it." She is then
enveloped in a glowing orb of pink light. "Help! Get me out of this." Rose, "That must be the puzzle." Donna, "Throw it to me." Cassie, "You can have it."
When Donna holds it, she is then in the orb. "Don't worry gang I'll solve it. It looks like a three-dimensional puzzle with a million permutations. Nothing too hard
for me to solve." As she begins moving the parts of the puzzle the room shifts in response. Making everyone from being on the floor to on the wall and falling.
Rose, "Donna will give us a heads-up warning before you make a move." But she is not listening. Cera, "Forget it Rose. She's in the zone now. She is completely
tuning out everything and everyone. To her the only thing that matters is solving that puzzle."
Every time she makes a move to solve the puzzle the room changes, shifts, pieces pop out of the puzzle and so to do the walls and floor. Everybody scrambling to avoid falling
from a great height or being crushed. Until at last, "There finished." The next door opens with Donna landing gently on the ground and the orb she was in disappearing.
"Whoa that was fun. Hey what happened to you guys." Cera, "You…" "Hold that thought." The puzzle opens to reveal a folded paper and a mini flashlight. Donna takes it out
and unfolds it to find it's, "Blank. I don't understand. Well maybe it will be revealed later. Come on slow folks. This trial is going to solved in a breeze. Wahoo!" Rose speaking
the Cera, "You weren't kidding when you said how she gets into the zone." Cassie, "Still, can't argue with the results though."
After entering the next door, they keep going in different directions and end up at dead ends. Cera, "No this is definitely a fake wall." She charges it and ends up falling back.
"Ow I bent my horns. Why does that keep happening?" Gladys, "Because this blasted hall is nothing but dead ends." Rose, "I don't get it. Why were we brought in here if
there's no way out." Donna is not looking when she trips over Veronica's tail, "Hey watch it!" When Donna lands and lets go of the paper and flashlight. The flashlight lights up
with black light and when Donna picks it up. It briefly shines on the blank paper revealing a pattern. "Hey look at this." They gather around her, as she shines the light on the
paper showing a circular object with a lot of complex lines all over it. Cera, "It's a hidden nothing." Donna, "Not nothing my simple-minded friend. A map written in invisible
ink that can only be seen under black light. And now I know why keep hitting dead ends. We're in a labyrinth. Not to worry, I can solve this. It seems we need to get to the
center of labyrinth to solve the last puzzle. Yes, this way." They go around a corner and come to a door that's locked with three keys. Kattie, "We have to use a key." Rose,
"Yeah, but why are they labeled A, C, and D." "Don't look at me." Rose, "Okay let's try D." She inserts the key and turns it. They all hear a sound. The pass they had come
through shuts from above. A horizontal slot opens on the opposite wall and two flying saw blades shoot out. "Duct!" The blades miss by a hair and embed themselves into the
wall. Sora, "Try another one." Rose, "Okay, A this time." Then Donna slaps it out of her hand, "No! Turn that one and there will be three next time." "But how do you…" "It's
the C key. Trust me. Still, everyone lie down as flat as you can." They all do and when Rose turns the ley this time the door opens with music playing. Donna, "It's a musical
puzzle. The key of A has three sharps whereas the Key of D has two, but the key of C has none." They continue on down the winding halls.
Cera asks Donna, "Hey brainiac, where do we go next?" Donna looks at map and is perplexed. Donna, "That's strange." Rose, "What is?" Donna, "According to the map there
are supposed to be two walls on either side of us and clear path straight ahead. Yet both sides have clear paths and a wall straight in front of where we are currently are."
Veronica, "Guess Ms. Big brain mis-read the map. I'm going this… Ow!" She says as walks into an invisible wall. Donna, "An actual invisible wall." As Kattie watches Cera walk
into another. She trips over own tail and falls backward. Appearing to fall through the wall in front of the others. Rose, "Kattie?!" Kattie sticks her head through appearing out
of the wall. "I guess I found the way." Donna, "things here are never quite what they seem. Ha! Ha! What fun."
What seems like hours pass until Cassie asks, "Hey does it feel like we have been walking but going nowhere. Donna looks ahead and notices a straight crack in the floor.
"Why Cassie you're right. Kattie wedge your tail spike in the floor between the base of the wall and floor. And everybody else don't move." "Why?" "You'll see." Then instead of
walking she hops across the floor. Then it seems the floor tries to move but gets jammed by Kattie's tail spike. Then Donna stands on the other side and sees a footprint mark
in the floor before the crack. She steps on it and the floor rises and they hear a lot of what sounds like gears being locked in place. "We've been walking on a fake floor that
has been like a treadmill colored to look like stone floor. Come on, we're wasting time let's get a going."
Donna, "The map says we take a left at this next turn." There is another split of two doors with the same writing on it. Donna, "Ms. M?" "It says which way to the eating
place?" Sora, "Great, let's just pick one. Unless the map says differently. "Donna, "I can't tell. We'll just have to pick one." Rose, "How about one of us goes down one, and
the rest stay here. When that one feels they've gone far enough. She will inform us if it is safe. So, whose going?" There is no immediate volunteer. Donna, "Hey Cassie, is
that a spider on your head?" "What?! Where?! Get it off!" Grabbing her hand to say, "I knew you'd volunteer. You're brave one Cassie." "I'm a gullible chump." Cassie begins
walking down the hall when holes open in the floor and flames come out of them heading towards her. "Yeah!" She screams runs back the way she came. Coming back as the
group, "Alright Cass, way to face the challenge. Such bravery." She is fidgeting around as she says while the end of her tail is still smoking, "Thank you but I'd prefer a more
pragmatic welcome back. In other words, 'Extinguish me!" Rose licks her thumb and fore finger to put her out. Cera, "Well I guess that settles it. We're going to take the one
on the right." Donna, "Of course now it makes sense. Because Cassie went to the left. But in most of the mid-east which is mostly Arab. Whenever you eat. You only eat with
your right hand."
They arrive at a three-way split with different shaped lines above each door. Ms. M reads the riddle, "What is the shortest distance between any two points on the surface of
the Earth?" Kattie, "Well a straight line of course." Donna, "Wrong! That is wrong! It's a curved line because since the Earth is round as a sphere because of gravity that
means distance is affected by the Earth three-dimensional shape." Donna walks through the one with the curved line above it. Kattie, "She didn't need to make me feel stupid
about it." Rose gently patting her on the shoulder, "I know sweetheart. We all do."
They then enter a round room and when all of them are inside the doors shut. They hear movement and look up to see the roof is coming down on them with spikes. Rose
changes into her T-Rex form to brace it. "Cera, Kattie, Gladys give me a hand." Donna looks around and finds the puzzle for this challenge in the form of flat sliding piece
picture puzzle. Donna, "You guys hold it off as long as you can. I've got this part." Cera, "Sure take all the time you need. No need to hurry." She says as she along with Rose,
Kattie, and Gladys are straining to keep themselves from being impaled. "You know I'm actually being sarcastic, right? Hurry up!" "Oh, Yee a little faith sister." She says as
she finishes the puzzle that turns out to be Veloic in his raptor form. The spikes retract, the ceiling returns to its original position and the door that leads them on opens.
"Yeah! This labyrinth is no match for me. Come on gang I can't keep carrying you all." Cera talking to Rose, "You know if we didn't really need her smarts. I'd say we'd be
better off with-out her." Rose, "I can understand your reasons, but you don't honestly mean it. Right?" Cera says nothing and looks away.
They then find themselves at the edge of a river of lava. Encircling a large round pillar. Donna, "Guys this is the challenge before we reach the center of the maze." Gladys,
"Okay then smart girl. Now how do we get across?" Donna looks around and sees a statue of Ultima holding the Earth in her right hand. It falls over and breaks into pieces.
The door behind them shuts and the ledge they are on above the lava starts to sink. Then the writing glows as Ms. M reads, "To escape the lavas heat. Re-assemble the
broken one in-order to beat the time." Donna begins to re-assemble the statue. Cassie standing on top of Rose's head. "Um, not a lot of time. Not a lot of time left!" "And
finished." Finished just as the lava was almost at their feet. Then another set of writing appears on the wall across the lava. Ms. M, "Solve the riddle to secure your safe
passage." Cassie, "Well riddles are fun to solve." Cera looking at her, "You enjoy riddles." "Sure, doesn't everybody." Gladys, Kattie, Sora, and Cera look at her un-amused.
"Okay, well a lot of us do. So let me try and solve this one D." A steppingstone appears above the lava surface and floats towards them with writing on it. Rose, "Ms. M would
you do the honors?" "It says, what was there at the beginning of eternity. What is going to be there at the end of time and shall appear twice through-out the universe's
entire existence." Everyone is shocked with their mouths hanging open. Cera, "No fair we've got a brain buster." Rose steps forward to say, "How about this? Light." The
sound of a sour note fills the room and the ground they are on sinks a little making the lava rise and the stone come towards them again. Cera, "I get it. Every time we give
the wrong answer the ground, we are on gets lower until we are fried." Rose, "Okay team let's not answer it until we have an answer. Anybody?" Kattie, "Uh… Love." The sour
note fills the air again and they sink down farther, and lava gets closer. "Kattie!" Everybody shouts, "Well it was worth a try." Rose, "Guys I think we've only got two more tries
left." Veronica, "Beauty!" Sink again. "Well at least I'm fabulous." Rose, "Please no one say anything." Donna at last steps forward and quietly recites the riddle to herself.
Donna, "I've got it. It's really simple. All complex sounding riddles have a surprisingly easy answer to them. Like think of this. If a parent wants to give one child fifteen cents
and the other 10 cents. But then instead wants to give them an equal share. What time would it need to be?" Rose, "I don't know. What?" Donna, "That parent would need to
give a quarter to two. Get it, a quarter to two. 1:45." "Oh… How does that help." "The same as with this riddle. The answer is hidden in the words used. What was there at
the beginning of eternity? What will be there at the end of time? And what shall appear twice in through-out the entire universe's existence." Rose, "I give up what?" Donna
looks at the stone with the writing and says, "E." Then the room fills with joyous music like an elaborate band as steppingstones appear rising higher out of the lava as the
ledge, they were all standing on rises as well until they are about 30 ft above the lava and stones merge to form a bridge. Rose, "How did you…" "Solve it. It was easy when I
thought about in a non-literal way. The letter E is there at the beginning of the word eternity. Appears at the end of the word time and must appear twice to create the word
universe." Looking at the group, "Come on gang we're almost there." Cassie struggling beside Rose, "We have almost died more times than I can count. Yet she is still
enjoying all of this." Rose just shrugs her shoulders."
They find themselves standing on the edge of a small step at the edge of what looks like, "A dance floor," responds Rose. With tile squares of Red, Yellow, Black, White, and
Green. Then glowing writing appears on the walls around them and Ms. M reads, "Congratulations for making it this far. But you are now where the second to last challenge
are. Solve the puzzle and use the clue, but do not be envious of my hue." Sora, "What?" Gladys, "Whose Hugh?" Rose, "Maybe since it looks like a dance floor. Maybe we
should dance across it." Donna stops her before she takes a step. "I don't think so. Watch." She throws a stone at each colored tile. Red makes fire come out of it. Yellow a
bolt of yellow lightning strikes it. White a beam of what makes the spot become encrusted in ice. Then Black a heavy square beam slams down covered in spikes on the
outside. Cassie, "Not digging this." Rose, "Ok, Red is death by fire. Yellow is lightning. White is to be frozen to death, and black by crushing. So then how we get across?"
Sora, "Flying." Rose grabs her right shoulder and says, "Remember what happened the last time you tried that?" "Oh right."
Donna, "Don't be envious. I got it." She runs back and leaps with Rose and Ms. M shouting, "Donna!" As she lands on the green tile, and nothing happens. "Huh I knew I
could solve it." Looking back up to the gang, "Okay green is the safe color." "What?" Says everyone and Ms. M in bemusement. Donna, "Don't be envious of my hue. It's a
reference to green the color of envy." Cera, "Oh right." Kattie, "Total sense." Ms. M, "I am green in my true form and most of the things I love are green. So, I find that
reference very offensive." Gladys steps forward to ask, "Hey how come the door still hasn't opened?" Donna looks around and sees another green tile surround by the other
colors at about five miles from the ledge. "There. Looks like this a two-person job. Could one of you jump on to that other tile." "What?!" Cera, "How do we know that one is
safe." Cassie, "Yeah what if it's a fake and spikes shoot out." "Guys it makes sense and besides its me. I'm always sure. Now who's going to take that leap?" They all look at
each other cautiously. Then Rose pushes Cera away as she jumps to it. Landing but losing her balance. Falling forward onto the red one but getting off before the flame comes
out. Lands her right elbow on a white and pulls back before it is hit with the freeze beam. Pulling her left foot off the yellow behind her before lightning strikes it. Then after
falling back on to a black one and getting off it to hold her legs in together as all the means of death stop. Then the tile goes down slightly, and all the tiles turn green and the
door opens to allow the others to continue on. Donna, "Yeah! Nice try Ultima but we are almost there, and I am going to beat your labyrinth. Woo Hoo!" The others follow
slowly behind. Rose, "Ms. M?" "Yes Rose." "I know Donna means well, but she needs to remember this not a game." "I know, but hopefully you can remind her as a part of
yourself that there is much more to being a victor then winning everything." "It's still hard to believe they are all just different sides of me." "That is why they need you as
their moral compass." Donna, "You guys come see this." They enter to find a single chess game board on a small pedestal.
Donna, "No way. It's Rex Chess." Rose, "I'm sorry what?" Gladys, "What? Speak up. You drag us through this twisting winding death trap, and you have audacity to just
whisper." Veronica, Cassie, Sora, and Kattie asks together, "What's Rex Chess?" Donna, "It's like a dinosaur version of chess, but to the Max." She brings out the pieces.
"Every piece has its own abilities and both sides are trying to topple the Rex. Oh, I love this." Cera, "Oh looks we're not in this one." Kattie, "I guess we can sit this one out."
Sora, "A break would be good." Gladys, "Good because these old joints need to rest." Cassie, "As long as our lives are not in peril. Then I'm cool." Gladys then sees the
writing on the wall to their left. "Say Moynihan, what does this say?" "It says if your Rex falls. Your commander will never set foot again inside these walls." Donna, "Looks like
you only get one chance. One chance is all I need. Now to set up the board." She places a Triceratops knight, but then it's like the floor vanishes from under Ceras feet and
she disappears. "Ah!" "Cera!" Then the lights come on to revel as Donna says, "A giant Rex board." Then Cera appears coming up out of the ground clad in stone armor. Ms.
M, "Cera are you okay." "Okay? I've got a sword, shield, and armor. I'm doing better than all of you." Donna, "Huh, looks like this game involves all of us and your fates are in
my hands." Rose, "Listen Donna maybe we should try to find another way." Donna, "We've got no choice. If we are going to beat Ultima, get out of here, and save our friends
on the outside. We have to play." She continues to set up the pieces. Cassie is next and appears as a pawn. Cera, "Huh! You're a pawn." Cassie, "Ah geez." Next Sora is a
Bishop, "Oh I get a scepter." Gladys becomes a tower guard. Kattie another knight. Veronica a pawn as well. Diane a queen, "Cool I'm the queen." Veronica, "No I should be
the queen." Donna, "Get ready Rose. There's a good chance you are next." She finishes assembling their team, yet Rose is not one of them. "Huh guess I'm not in the game.
Well, I'll cheer you guys from here…" She falls through the floor and re-appears on the opposite team's side as their queen. Cassie, 'Rose." Kattie, "Oh no." Cera, "Traitor!"
Rose, "No guys this is perfect. I'll just sabotage the other team so we can't lose. Didn't think of that did you Ultima." She is about to strike the Rex next to her but then
gauntlets appear on her wrist and hold her arms and hands to their sides. "Okay, I can't move." The same happens to the others. Gladys, "Our hands are tied. Literally."
Donna, "Don't worry guys. I'll just play so well that none of you will have to be attacked. It will be just like hard mode. What a fun challenge." Cassie saying under her voice,
"You wouldn't be saying that if you were the pawn." Donna, "Alright lets topple this, Rex. Our move first." A pawn moves first. Donna, "Now let's see how they respond." One
the opposing team's triceratops knights leaps over and smashes the pawn. Cassie, "I don't like this game." Donna, "Such a basic response. Well two can play at that."
The game goes on with both sides loosing members until it's down to just Rose and the Rex on the opposing team left. Donna, "Got to say. This game is good. But not good
enough to defeat me." She moves Diane into position to topple the Rex. Rose, "You got this girlfriend." Donna, "Yes we win." But then as Diane uses her long sword to slash
the Rex. He ducts down and she goes back into her resting position. The opposing Rex then just does a taunt. Donna with a shocked looked shouts, "No way! Guys this thing
cheats." "What?" Then Rose moves towards the others shouting, "No, no, no…" Donna, "Okay so what if it cheats, we still have more pieces. Maybe if I attack from a different
angle." But Rose smashes at each of them with her coming to Gladys who holds her off. Rose, "I'm sorry I don't want to hurt you." "Well, you already are. Ever since we were
freed. You've made me and each of us feel like an inconvenience to be cast aside like Cassie." "What that's not true?" "Then why are you having us going through all this in
the first place? Why do you want to go back to that world of frustration, pain, death, and misery? Why do you want to get back to Max?" "Because I love him! I just want to
spend whatever time we may still have to let him know that. I want to keep him safe. To keep all our friends safe. But this all feels so overwhelming it makes me…" Sobbing
with Gladys comforting which surprises everyone. "I understand, sorry for my harsh words. Maybe if what we thought we knew isn't true. It's more important to think about
those things which are real and true. And it's clear that Max does mean a lot to you. So, if he is really worth it. I'll help you get back to him." "Thanks, I'd hug you, but you
know. Magical restraints." Donna looking at all this seeing how battered they all are and how Rose is beating them makes her realize, "What am I doing? Their lives matter
more than winning. Who cares if this thing cheats? Their lives are not worth risking for it. I forfeit." She knocks over her Rex, but it doesn't knock the big Rex on her team
over. "Errr… Looks like I'm going to need to topple the big Rex too." She leaps down but then the defenders are firing and attacking her. Cassie, "What's going on?" "I'm trying
to throw the game, but it won't let me. I need your help." "How?" She grabs his base ash she says, "Please don't hate for this." "For what?" She lifts her up and throws her at
the Rex who gets toppled over and explodes. This makes all the over pieces disintegrate into dust. Sora, "Ow."
Everyone gathers around Donna. Cera, "Wow Donna." Sora, "Why?" Diane, "Why'd you throw the game." Donna, "Because it wasn't worth putting your lives in danger like
that. It is not victory at any cost. And if it was at the cost of your lives. Then it's not worth it." Cassie, "Well in your defense that game was cheap cheat." Diane, "That's
right." Kattie, "Yeah that goes for me as well." Gladys, "Same." Veronica, "We still think you're pretty great and smart. Little excessive and obsessive though." "Thanks
Veronica. I guess I really needed to hear that." Kattie, "And for future reference please be kinder and more understanding when we don't get the correct answer." "I'll try
Kate." Then golden arrows appear pointing the way out and the labyrinth changes so that there is a straight un-obstructed path out. Donna, "I get it. I wasn't smart enough
to beat the game, but I can find the exit."
The exit right where they entered. Rose, "So back to where we started." Donna, "Yeah, and since I lost the last game. I'm not allowed back in. Looks like you're going to have
to try again with-out me." "We'll figure something out." Sora then notices, "Hey if we're back where we started how come the entrance is still closed?" Diane says as she
points to the arrows leading away from the front door, "Uh guys. The arrows are pointing this way." Kattie, "To the bathroom. Why?" Donna, "Wait could it be?" She opens the
door, and the space is cleaned, and the walls are glowing purest gold as the arrows point towards the toilet. Donna, "No way! Guys this is exit." "Huh?" Gladys, "But we
failed." Donna walks toward the toilet and looks in it and sees a red button under the lip. Gladys, "I wouldn't recommend touching that." Veronica, "Yeah if you touch that
ungloved then I'm never going to hold your hand." She still touches it and then the toilet flushes before going up off the floor into the ceiling and a ceiling tile covers where
the toilet went. Then new writing appears on the wall as the back wall slides back and to the right to reveal the passage to the next trials with the writing overhead. Ms. M,
"Only those who are smart in both brain and heart will possess both intelligence and wisdom that will aid them. They will recognize and know what's right to choose between
whether it's more important to win, or to have the humility to loose. The choice is made save one's friends, and honestly doesn't that make you a true winner in the end."
Rose, "Huh that last part was surprisingly casual." Donna, "Of course. The last challenge was not simply a test of intelligence. It was also a test for humility." Ms. M, "Indeed
for I know as well as many wise scholars eventually realized. One who chases and seeks glory first will ultimately find and receive humiliation. But one who seeks and chooses
humility first. Will ultimately find and receive eternal glory." Gladys, "Classic reverse psychology. Feel like I should've seen that coming." Cera then steps in to say, "Well let's
not give the this place any ideas. Let's go." Rose, "Alright. Trials here we come."
