I forgot to say this in the last chapter, but I do not own any of these characters and they are the property of Sega.
The crowd divided around him as if it were butter split by a hot knife. A few of the more bold mobians hissed as he passed, a few of the more disgusted mobians spat and booed in his direction. But from the direction of the most furious mobian of all, he felt a bottle shatter into his back. It didn't leave a dent thanks to Scratch's hard metal exterior, but the beer running down his back was chilly.
"Come back again, and it'll be on fire next time!"
Was the last thing he heard before the door slammed behind him. His feathers drooped behind him, long metallic ribbons billowing in the gentle sea breeze. Scratch shook off his top hat and held it to his chest. The sea called to him, promising to leave no trace of him. The moon was the only witness, and it was pledged to silence. He would float and float, just another nothing wedged between the sky and the sea until rust consumed him and he began one with the waves lacing the beach.
He looked at the swell of the sea as it frothed onto the sand. Who needs love anyway? Especially from an organic life-form. It's such a silly thing, yet why do I feel so…probably just a sign that I need to work on my true purpose. I wasn't born to entertain dreams about being in love. I wasn't built to dream. I shouldn't waste my time here. I should be completing my true purpose!
A vision flared up in his mind. A metal on his chest, Robotnik's hand on his shoulder with a large grin plastered on his face as Scratch stands on the podium next to him. A sea of glittering steel as thousands upon thousands of robots look up to him, clapping for him. The robot who captured Sonic, the robot who made Doctor Robotnik's vision into a reality.
As Scratch smiled to himself, Grounder couldn't help but wonder what the hell the guy was thinking about. Maybe being booed out was part of Scratch's plan? Why else would he be smiling? The little drill bot shrugged to himself. He wanted to ask Scratch why he was smiling l, but he didn't want the taller bot to be angry with him for following him. Besides, Grounder liked the scene before him. Scratch's tail feathers twirling in the wind, along with Scratch's lean figure perfectly cut and accented in the moonlight. The little drill bot decided to stay awhile.
