"Rebecca's baby is both you and Alvin's." Clem replies, narrowing her eyes at him fearlessly. This take's Bill aback.

"What's that?"

"The baby is both of yours. You both have something to offer to it. Alvin is his real dad, and even if he isn't, he's Rebecca's wife. He should be able to give his baby the care and attention it needs."

He looks back through the glass and shakes his head. "Hm.. he should, shouldn't he?"

"Yes." She says firmly. He turns back.

"I'll have to have a talk with him about that, then. What can I bring to the table? I wanna know if we're on the same page here."

"Well, you've given him a home. A big, secure, full place where the baby can be safe and happy."

"And?" He motions his hand for her to give him more, a small grin on his face.

"And what?" She questions.

"Anything else?"

She looks down and sighs, closing her eyes. "...You're strong. Stronger than all of us."

"Thank you, sweetie. You're just as smart as I thought you were." Bill presses his hand on top of her hat affectionately before standing up. "Maybe you're right. Maybe we are both useful to the kid. But I think that two parents is enough."

"..well, they deserve to have their real dad too."

"No matter who the real father is, it's mine now. Now, Clementine, I need you for something."

"What is it?" Carver helps her up from her seat by taking her hand, guiding her to Duck's unconscious body. He pulls the bag off of his head and tosses it to the side, revealing a severely swollen black eye, a burst eardrum and a curved nose to be the worst of the damage. Clem recoils in shock, gasping. "I don't know how else to punish the boy. This isn't gonna send much of a message, it won't scare him. I'm sure he's received worse scares before. This kid ain't a coward, no. He'll strike again. I wanna scare him straight, and I need your help to do it." He takes something from inside his coat pocket, a hammer, and offers it to her. "I want you to decide his fate. Break something. Let's make this long term so he'll never forget what happens to people who want to ruin our society."

She looks up at Carver, fear poking its head into her mind. "..me? I-I couldn't, he's my friend!"

"He's a treacherous snake in the grass who destroyed some of our most valued crops. And he'll do it again just to piss me off, knowing I won't kill him unless he threatens my life. This scares him."

"Why can't you do it?" She snaps.

"Because he already knows what I'm capable of. I want him to see what you're capable of." He shakes the hammer impatiently. She looks between her friend, who's eyes have just started opening, but words can't leave his mouth. He shakes his head after seeing the hammer and her hesitating hand. She accepts the hammer and holds it up over her shoulder, tears floating in her eyes.

"Do it." Bill growls.
