July 16, 2019. Newark, New Jersey. The Human World. 9:00 P.M.
Martha Kore was running late to returning home. There was a terrible storm outside. She just left her shift at the Burger King a few minutes ago. She was worried about how her sons: Julius and Tommy were. They had to be starving. The Burger King in which Martha worked at was close to her house. It was only a couple of blocks away. She had been working at Burger King for 3 1/2 years. Martha had a day job as a newspaper editor for The Star Ledger, New Jersey's national newspaper. At night, she worked at Burger King. It was difficult for Martha to balance 2 jobs at once. Her busy schedule meant that Martha rarely had time to visit her children.
It was not because she didn't love Julius and Tommy; she loved them very much. It was just that, having 2 jobs made seeing them hard. The only time she had off from work were Saturdays and Sundays. She wanted 2 days off so that way she could spend more time with Julius and Tommy. During those days, they often went to movie theaters, arcades, bowling and several other acts together. They sometimes visited their extended family. Martha and her husband are divorced. They've been divorced for 6 years now. Martha was now a single mother trying to work 2 jobs while trying to raise 2 boys at the same time. Ever since her ex-husband Richard died in a car accident in January, she had a much harder time looking over Julius and Tommy.
She recently dated a man called Rex. Rex was a guy in his late 40's who had children from a previous marriage. They were all grown up now. Rex hated watching over Julius and Tommy. He was the only person in the universe that believed Tommy's bike riding accident was somehow staged and not real. That made Julius resent Rex. Rex was a Latino man with a slight Southern accent. He always drank a lot. He didn't drink alcohol. He drank soft drinks like Tab and Mountain Dew. Which was why some people called him "The Drink King".
Martha was driving her car on her way home. Hopefully, Julius and Tommy were okay. She had heard that lightning was all around this area. She pulled her car into the driveway. Rex was currently supposed to be watching over Julius and Tommy. Martha got out of her car and walked up to her house. The house was a standard 2 story house (I don't know any housing styles, so I'll leave this house as a generic type of house). She unlocked the front door to her house. Martha stepped into the house.
The living room was a total mess. The TV was on. The lamp was on. There were Marvel comic books, newspapers, coupons along with other stuff strewn across various sections of the floor. On the couch were bags of hot Cheetos, cans of Tab soda, and several VHS tapes of various things. The only person missing at the moment was Rex. Usually, Martha wound find Rex either passed out or having sex with his black girlfriend named Sherry. This time, Rex was gone. Martha walked into the living room, shutting the front door behind her.
"Julius! Tommy!" Martha called out. "I'm home."
Martha waited by the stairway in silence. Usually, Julius and Tommy would be coming down the stairs vey fast and would be hugging her. What Martha didn't know however was that both of her sons were no longer on the face of the human world. She had no idea that Julius and Tommy were inside of an entirely different world altogether. A video game world that looked almost identical to the human Earth except that the entire population consisted entirely of anthropomorphic animals.
Martha climbed up the stairs. She was soaken wet because of the hard rain that fell outside. She reached the top of the stairwell. She walked toward Julius's room first. It was incredibly dark in the room. The female human turned on the light. Julius's room looked like the room of every average 15 year old kid. He had a bed that was always kept neat and tidy (his mother was a stickler for cleanliness), On his bookshelf stood 3 video game systems: A PlayStation 3, A PlayStation 4, and a X Box 360. The TV that Julius had was huge. It was a 24 in RCA TV that was affixed to the bookshelf. The room was incredibly neat and tidy, which was very unusual for an average 15 year old kid's room to be. Usually, the rooms of a teenager were very messy and cluttered.
Julius was nowhere to be found in the room. Neither was Tommy. Martha grew worried. The weather was horrible outside. It would be highly unlikely for a 15 year old and a 10 year old kid to be outside in this type of weather. Martha checked Tommy's room to see if he was in his bedroom. Tommy wasn't there. Martha then heard footsteps coming up the stairs. She perked up, hoping it was Julius or Tommy coming up the stairs. Instead, she heard her new fiancee Rex coming up the stairs.
Rex was a Latino man that was in his late 40's. He had dark tan skin. He had a goatee on his face. He had the same eye color as Julius: blue. He had blood red hair. He was wearing a black coat over skin tight pants.
Martha had blonde hair with brown eyes. She was Caucasian. She was in her mid 30s. She wore glasses.
"I couldn't find Julius or Tommy." Rex said. "I looked everywhere for them. I looked all over this house, his friend Charlie's house, even his girlfriend Savannah's house. Julius and Tommy were in neither of those houses.
"What are we going to do?" Martha asked frantically.
"I don't know." Rex said. "Last I saw them, they were playing video games in their rooms."
"I'm going to call the authorities." Martha said.
"Ok." Rex said. Martha got to work calling the authorities, reporting that her child was missing.
