"Here's what we're going to do," Lee begins, everyone gathering around to listen, except Danny who tries to hear him from a corner of the pen. "We don't kill anybody but optionally Carver and Troy. We want the people of Howe's to know we're nothing like Carver, so we don't kill anyone aside from those who deserve it."
"How do you suggest we deal with guards if we can't hurt them?" Rebecca questions.
"I never said you can't hurt them. Walter wouldn't have wanted us killing people, would he?" He looks at Kenny and his group. They all look down or give him a skeptical look. "Just not mortally. That's where Bonnie and Shawn come in: they have bindings and gags, probably in the armory, which doesn't close until…?"
"Twenty minutes from now." Pete answers.
"Right. They give us all the bindings and gags they can carry. But they only give guns to two of us just in case things get too bad: Me and Molly."
"Why me?" Molly asks.
"Why just you two, more like?" Kenny raises a brow, folding his arms.
"I already said I don't want anyone to get shot unjustly, and I certainly trust you all, but we can only use them in case of an emergency. I promise I won't let any of you get hurt if I can prevent it." Lee says.
"We're gonna trust Lee with a gun after today? Somebody else should have it. Not you." Kenny seethes. Lee rolls his eyes.
"Fine. Pete and Molly will have guns then."
"Alright. What's next?" Pete asks.
Lee continues. "Molly gets sent up the roof like she did when we got the walkies." He turns to address her more personally. "You'll jump down on him, tie him up and deal with his guard dog how you wish. You'll save Christa, hopefully she won't be in too bad of a shape. You two will stay in Carver's office and keep watch of him. If anybody comes into the office, you either hide and bind, or if there's really no other option, you shoot. Meanwhile, Bonnie will open up the pen door and give bindings to everyone leaving the pen to tie up the other guards. I think me, Jane, Luke, Mike and Kenny would be good for this part. You'll have to be sneaky and precise, but I think you're all up for the job."
"Sure, but the whole no-killing thing seems unnecessarily risky. A lot of the people at Howe's are douchebags anyways. Tavia advocated for the pen system in the first place, Stan's a doormat and need I mention Troy?" Jane questions.
"Like I said, if you need to fight, you fight. Otherwise, we're not killing anyone." Lee answers.
"Fine." She replies, disapproving of the plan.
"I can stealth. I can try." Mike says with a hint of nervousness, a new look for him.
"You're strong, is all. That's your biggest strength here." Lee gives him a look of confidence, reinvigorating Mike.
"I'll take that as a compliment." He responds, a small smile on his lips.
"What about the rest of us?" Nick asks.
"You'll stay here and wait for us to finish. Pretend you're sleeping, otherwise the guards might get suspicious if too many of us are gone." Lee reports.
"Okay. What about our friends in the elite's bedroom?" Pete asks.
"Clem, Carley, Shel, Becca and Shawn will wait for us in the stock room. Bonnie too. That's where we'll meet once everyone has been rounded up. The rest of the civilians in Howe's cannot be hurt, not once or ever. We can't hurt them, alright?" Everyone nods. "Good. So we all meet up at the stockroom, aside from Molly and Christa. I'll go up to Carver's office, beg Christa for forgiveness and then make my big speech to the civilians to try to turn them over to our side. Hopefully it'll also convince the elites and other guards."
"It's as good a plan as any. Anything else?" Luke questions.
"What about the herd? It's gonna be on this place in twenty to thirty minutes." Pete says.
"We hide somewhere safe and wait it out, barricading the entrances and exits with furniture, shelves and guns. We'll sleep in shifts, if we sleep at all." Lee answers.
"Alright, fine. We're taking over this place then." Kenny dramatically replies.
"I'll flag Bonnie down." Luke says, walking towards the gate.
"Are there any questions before we do this?" Lee asks one last time. Much to his surprise, and everyone else's, Sarah steps up boldly.
"I wanna help."
Carlos narrows his eyes and folds his arms sternly. "Sarah, no."
She looks up at her dad with a raised brow, doing her best Clementine impression. "I'm not a little girl anymore. I can help take over."
Lee gets down to her level. "Sarah, sweetie, you will be helping: we need decoys down here to fool Bill's men long enough for all of us to gain the upper hand on them."
"I mean an important job. I want to help tie people up."
"Absolutely not." Carlos refuses, his voice turning into a low growl.
"Clementine taught me how to shoot a gun, remember? I can help cover you if you need help." Sarah says to a split Lee. Everyone else seems to not be in favor of this idea, especially Carlos.
"Lee, no, it's out of the question. It's far too dangerous." The doctor argues.
"Please, dad? I know how!" Sarah desperately yelps.
Carlos puts his hands on her shoulders. "I won't have you killing people. Do you understand? That is not you, Sarah. It.. it would change you."
She looks back into his eyes, narrowing her eyelids. "I won't kill! I don't wanna kill anyone. I'll just be there, protecting. Can't I come with?" She looks up at Lee, pleading with sad puppy dog eyes that have saved her from countless punishments from her parents before. Carlos looks back at Lee and glares.
"No. She can't."
