With the sliver of a moment he has, Lee points at Tavia and shoots, striking her in her poofy head, ending her life. Gunfire ceases from her weapon and she never manages to get a single shot on Sarita, who stands both afraid and shocked that she's alive. Stan pushes Duck away, turning at the sound of the gunshot to see his best friend dead on the ground. "Tavia!" He calls out, not noticing when Duck snatches his side arm and shoots him in the shoulder. He clutches the wound before spraying his machine gun, littering his teenage body with holes as Sarita screams for him. Lee aims at Stan.
"Wait! W-wait, I was just defending myself! Don't do this!" Stan begs, dropping his gun to the floor with his right hand holding his left arm.
"You… You..!" Sarita charges at him, punching him as hard as her feeble, sobbing body can muster. He blocks her shots, only really hissing at the few she gets on his arm. Lee lowers his gun, walks up to Stan and pulls out a binding, cuffing his hands behind his back.
"Ow, ow! I'm so sorry, but he was going to shoot me! I couldn't just- mm!" The gag slips into his mouth.
"Shut up and stay down. Jesus.. Poor Duck." Lee shakes his head, standing up to fully examine the bloody, bullet covered body of the thirteen year old. He can't look for long, the sight too much to handle.
Sarita looks up from her palms, her voice breaking with every word. "You should have saved him. Not me. Why, Lee?"
He can't say why. He doesn't know why. To be frank, all he knows is that he had to save someone, that someone just so happened to be and "We don't have time to talk. Where's everyone else?"
"In the stockroom… Carver has them in the stockroom." She breathes out, exhaling after every word.
He nods, starting to head back. "Stay here."
"No! I have to find Kenny." She wipes her face and follows Lee out the door, making a surprisingly fast recovery if only for her lover. Lee nods in understanding.
"Come on." He races down the halls, passing by several community members and civilians groggily rubbing their eyes and talking amongst themselves. They all ask questions like 'what's going on?' and 'where's Bill?', 'Are those the prisoners?' and so on. Lee ignores them, of course, he has no choice but to for now. In due time he'll explain everything.
Molly charges at Carver, holding Hilda in her hands. He notices her at the last second, but by then she's already torn his cheek, blood squirting against her already soaked hook. With his guard dropped, Ben winds up his fist and punches him in the same spot, sending him into Luke's arms, where he's disarmed and punched once again in the cheek as he turns, stunning him as Luke takes his gun. Luke aims Carver's assault rifle at its owner, glaring. "Get back!" He demands. He doesn't raise his arms just yet, instead going for the gun he stole off Pete.
In the background, Carley steals Shel's gun away in a moment of clarity, takes a deep breath and shoots Bill's gun out of his hand, the firearm launching across the room, completely fried. Carver, and everyone else, looks back at the source of the gunfire, where Carley, Shel, Shawn, Becca and Clementine reveal themselves from the shadows. He glares at them, going his revolver this time, ready to hammer down on the trigger, only for Nick to grab the gun from his hands and smack him in the nose with it, throwing it towards Rebecca, who catches it with ease. Jane picks up her knife from her pocket, just as a precautionary measure.
"So then, Bonnie wasn't alone? I should have known Shawn was against me, but Shel? Becca? I thought you were smarter. Same for you, Clementine." He gives her a good stare down. She doesn't stop looking back.
"I was never on your side." The young girl replies.
"I figured." He chuckles humorlessly.
"I was with you up until I realized how far gone you were. What happened, Bill?" Shel questions, genuinely confused.
"This ain't none of your concern. Yours neither, Luke. This is just a simple custody battle we've got on our hands here." Bill says, dodging the question. He gives Rebecca a coy grin.
"Shoot him." Rebecca growls under her breath, looking directly at Luke. He chooses to look back at Carver instead of acting on her violent request.
Clementine repeats her words. "Just shoot him."
Luke actually looks up at that one, eyes wide. He didn't expect that from her. "What? I can't just-"
Bang!
"Ngh!" Bill groans, holding his now shot and bleeding kneecap. Kenny appears out of nowhere just outside the stockroom, holding Wyatt's glock. Smoke rises from the barrel. He aims at his other knee and shoots it out, causing the tyrant to fall to the floor, only his hands covering his fall. Everyone in the room is speechless, a mix of shock, relief and anger coursing through the veins of fifteen survivors. Just as everyone begins processing what just happened, Eddie appears in the room behind Kenny. Luke points his gun at him, as does Carley and eventually Kenny too. He immediately raises his hands, looking down at the mess Bill has become, weakly crawling on the floor with his elbows.
"Woah, woah! I-I'm on your side! I just… I just wanna know where Wyatt is."
"In the food court." Kenny says, his voice low and gravely, like he hasn't drank in years. Eddie nods before running away to the food court. As soon as he leaves, Lee and Sarita appear, the latter crying as she flies into Kenny's arms for what might be the third time today. He doesn't hold her back, scanning the area for Duck. "Where. Where is he?" Lee lowers his head, sighs and shakes it. Kenny's eyes widen.
"Kenny.. I… I tried… I'm so- so sorry-" Kenny pushes Sarita away as she begins sobbing again, turning to see Carver wiping the blood off his cheek with a chuckle.
"Little shit deserved everything he had coming to him." Carver mutters through the pain. Luke puts his gun down, shaking his head.
"Shut the fuck up. How could you do this to children?!" Ben yells as he helps Carlos up to his feet, the doctor intent on staying right here and watching the murderer of his daughter die.
"I sleep just fine." He replies coldly. Kenny digs into his palm with his free hand, blood dripping down to the floor.
Lee takes a few steps forward, grabbing Kenny's shoulder supportively while reaching for his gun. Kenny's attention is no longer on Bill or Lee, but on a crowbar across the room. "Kenny, come on, man. Let's just finish this."
Kenny punches Lee's gun across the room and shoves him to the side, slowly lurching towards the crowbar, picking it up methodically, the sound of cold metal clinking against his hands. "Go on and wait outside. Go on." He demands, his voice wavering on breaking and broken. He looks down at the crowbar with an anger indescribable to anyone who's never suddenly lost a loved one. Perhaps it's best summed up as pure rage.
A few head out immediately. Shawn, holding his wound, leaves towards the pen. Shel grabs Becca's shoulders, who's already on her way out, and walks with her behind him. Jane tags along with them, not looking back once. Luke watches her go before turning back to the scene in front of him. Nick grabs his uncle's wheelchair and wheels him out of the stockroom, but stops to look at his girlfriend. "I'm not leaving." Molly states simply, glaring at Bill but knowing he's there waiting on her. Nick leaves. Sarita walks up behind Kenny, though she keeps her distance.
"Carlos, we gotta go." Danny says to the mortified man. He stays silent. Danny lowers his head and walks out.
"Kenny, please!" Sarita begs, sniffling. Lee and Carley look at each other worriedly.
"I only need a minute." Kenny whispers, no sympathy for the villain bleeding out on the floor. Carley holds Clem's shoulder, the latter of which hasn't looked away since locking eyes with Bill. Lee takes the other and starts pulling her away. Kenny notices Clem's determination to stay. "Go on, you don't need to see this."
"That girl's... Already seen more than you can imagine." Carver grunts.
Luke points at him. "Shut your mouth, Bill!" The redhead looks around. Molly, Rebecca and Carlos seem intent on standing their ground. "Y'all are just gonna let him do this?!"
"Yes." Rebecca answers.
"There ain't one part of that sonuva bitch I don't hate but that does not make this right!"
"When you lose your best fucking friend, then you can bitch to me about the right thing to do. Can't handle it? Piss off. If you can, stick around and enjoy the show."
Luke shakes his head in disapproval, leaving the room. Sarita looks back at Ben, who's surprisingly staying. She stands in front of him. "Come on. I'm not letting you see this too."
Ben shakes his head, clenching his fists. "I'll.. I'll stay to bring Kenny back."
"Ben.." Sarita whimpers.
"Sarita, go. I can handle this." He defiantly rebels, giving her a sterner look than she's used to. She passes him and approaches Lee's family instead.
"Surely you won't let her see this." She says to Clem's parents as she passes by to the pen.
Lee shakes his head."Of course not. Clementine, come on."
"Look at you, you fucking ingrates. You never knew how good you had it, Lee. You could have been my right hand. Now, you and your friends are gonna die. You.. you don't have what it takes to lead these people. You're too fuckin' soft. Too fickle. Nobody can trust you. Nobody trusts you."
"I'll do better than you ever could. I'll earn their trust back, and I'll start by taking her out of here." He pulls on Clem's shoulder, trying to walk out with her. She doesn't budge.
"Making her weaker already, eh? Give him a parent of the year award for his contribution towards another child's death." Carver yells, coughing from the pain of straining his voice. Carley raises her eyebrows, shocked Clem would want to watch this.
"Come on, Clementine. Now." Her mother orders. "I'm not letting you see this."
